The opening scene with Richie really hurts because I know EXACTLY how he feels. Almost every story I have to tell would (and has in the past) receive the same reaction his date gave from anyone outside of the people who were there with me, and since I’ve lost touch with them for one reason or another it feels pointless to even try sharing anymore. They’re good memories to me, but to anyone who wasn’t there I probably just sound like a fool. This scene captures that feeling so perfectly, it’s one of the most relatable moments I’ve ever experienced from a TV show or movie.
i feel like no one excels at surprise guest stars quite like the bear does. also i love when shows tackle grief and they do it well, this show does it incredibly well in so many different ways and i am forever grateful for it. i relate to carmy A LOT and my sister is a lot like sugar and our mothers are very similar so i spend a lot of this show simultaneously feeling attacked and also therapized lmao.

Richie's got one of the best character development in the limited amount of TV i've watched. You guys are going to love him in ending of season 1 and all of season 2.
Calling for "Hands!" in a restaurant means to call out for food runners to take the dish out to the guests ordering it. Your cooks can make a perfect dish, but if you leave it out too long to die under the heat lamp, it's extremely frustrating. Especially if there's an "expo" person whose station is to make sure the plates go out correctly and quickly, they'll get real curt and intense demanding runners to not waste all the time spent cooking/plating by letting the food get cold. Love the reactions as always fellas

There are some people who REALLY know how to tell a story. I have , well had, an uncle like that. He put just enough juice on it to make it extra exciting. 😂 My grandma was our family's linchpin. When she passed, my family absolutely fell apart. And it happened fast.
Loved their reaction to Jon Bernthal haha. Honestly was like 90% of the reason why I wanted them to react to this show (the show is really good though)
I really appreciate how they clearly get Richie's character THIS well. For a lot of new watchers who haven't gone through season 2 yet, Richie is so clearly the antagonist of season 1 and it's really common for viewers at this point to hate him, even if they sorta get why he's acting this way. But they clearly completely understand and even sympathize with Richie this early on into season 1. Based on what Richie says in the first episode, he faced the brunt of all the pressures in keeping the restaurant afloat and taking care of Michael during his drug addiction at the expense of his own marriage collapsing. It makes so much sense why he's such a mess and why he's clinging so hard to the restaurant and wanting to keep it the way he is now.
I'm not an expert, but wouldn't reducing the sauce make it thicker? I'm not trying to be the food police, it's a genuine question. I would expect them to dilute it in some way, adding water or stock or something.
Bill Murray is originally from the Chicago area so you can often find him at Chicago Cub’s games or out an about in the city so it makes sense that people who’ve grown up in Chicago love Bill Murray and his movies.
All these characters are hanging on to the restaurant as a life support. They can't find their way out since the death of Michael. They are fumbling around wanting to move on yet afraid of letting go. Sydney with her own problem somehow get entangled into the web of their trauma.

At least that’s what I thought
"I want consistent" is a great way to show why Nat is with Pete. He's maybe a bit dumb or lacks charisma but he's nice, and most of all, seemingly stable. When everyone in Nat's family is traumatized and unstable, he's perfect for her.

Look, if prepared a dish and I put my heart into it, I’m not trashing it. It wasn’t calculated sabotage, it was being disappointed in something everyone thought was great besides the person she wanted most to impress. So she gave it away so someone would appreciate it. Carly never really listens and yes Sydney is impatient but she did try to see where he was coming from and doesn’t truly understand why he’s holding her back specifically. It’s one dish in her mind but Carmy knows one dish will implode for things HE isnt ready for.

Everybody loves Fishes, but Forks was for me personally the best episode of season 2.

Jon Bernthal is such a perfect choice to play Michael. Just like the character, he is one of the most charming and charismatic guys on the planet.
