- These Terraria weapons are impressively powerful... The Dart Rifle and The Dart Pistol. In this video, I take a look at both the Dart Rifle and the Dart Pistol which are dart firing ranged weapons which are exclusive to the Corruption and Crimson biomes. These are seriously powerful weapons and can easily carry you through a good portion of Hardmode due to there power!

I love how the Dart Rifle (corruption) works best with Ichor Darts (a crimson material) and the Dart Pistol (crimson) works best with the Cursed Dart (a corruption material)

However, since mimics are unique to the world's starting biome but seeds from the dryad are not, you can get a dart rifle in a corruption world then farm ichor in a mini-crimson
The dart weapons are in an interesting position where, by themselves, they’re not that great, but it’s the ammunition they fire that make them downright broken.

0:35 correction, you can actually get both but at a more inconvenient way, that is using the opposite world evil seeds sold by the dryad at a blood moon pre-hardmode or at hardmode, and using them to get ebonstone/crimtane and then finally making a biome under ground for the mimics to spawn

Crimstone, not crimtane. Crimtane is like demonite, it doesn't spread world evil.

I think the dart pistol is more convenient because using ichor darts with either gun can kill prime, Queen slime and the twins pretty easily so not having to make a custom crimson biome for the darts just makes me prefer the pistol
Dart Rifle with cursed flames aboutsultly melts the destroyer tho,and crystal with rifle goes hard on prime.

Dart pistol is more convenient because there is more room for error. You have less chances to hit with the rifle, making misses more punishing that if you were to miss a shot on the pistol. It's literally like choosing between and AR or a Sniper in an fps.
Nah just kill twins with the sky fracture, craft rainbow rod and annihilate prime with it, then get tome of infinite wisdom and embarrass the destroy, then let rainbow rod carry you for Plantera because it is an absolutely legendary weapon to use against her.

Technically speaking higher damage is better than higher firerate, as more hits also means that the defense of the enemy will get subtracted from your damage more times, but there is no such drawback for increasing damage.
but with ichor ammo, the -20 defense is applied to a lot more projectiles

@@atesz7636 it kinda does but it completely how you play the game, because to get ichor ammo your world needs to be crimson, but you can always make a custom crimson biome or make a new world.

I was always surprised that no one talks about these weapons. Every ranger playthrough I do they are amazing for pre-mech fishron.

Yeah,dart weapons are a slightly worse version of sanguine staff/blade basicly.strong flex when pre nerf sanguine/blade staff were arguably the best weapon in the entire game and post nerf they are probably still easily in the top 1% of weapons viability wise.
You can get both in any world at the start of Hardmode as long as you have an underground crimson and corruption, because remember the dryad sells the seeds for the opposite evil in Hardmode when in a graveyard, and mimics can spawn naturally in their own biome. If you have an afk farm, setting up a mimic arena for either biome won't be too difficult.
Man, I literally have no idea why most of the people simply overlook this. It's mind boggling how many times you hear phrases like 'But only one of those 2 is available in one world' .
@@michael4491 It's saddening to see at the very least. I do wish you could at least buy them post Skeletron just because the extra buff potion would be nice, but regardless it's still a nice way to get both evils in your world without the drunk seed or TEdit

Thank you for posting this, I can't believe how many people don't know this. I usually do this to get both the worm scarf and brain of confusion after wof in expert/master worlds as they are incredibly overpowered together.
I dont think this is simply overlooked. I think most people genuinely don't know this since most probably haven't put in the effort to make an entire Underground opposite evil biome.
Every day I wait in patience for a sock video to release, and when it does I learn something new.
I prefer gloves personally, socks are overrated.
The ammunition for the guns are also well balanced, what I mean is, the cursed darts compliments the Dart Rifle and it's slow fire by having a crap to of projectiles rain which even in "not-so-ideal-angles" it can still deal a considerable amount of damage, while the Pistol Variation has Ichor bullets which lowers defense and spread out into more bullets to help compensate for the lower base damage
Not saying switching the ammo of both will hinder their effectiveness, just saying that terraria did a good job choosing the niches of the ammo for the weapons
The difference in time to kill comes down to how defense works. Simply put, the faster and smaller damage weapons do worse against defense, so the dart pistol is slightly more effected by it. Not enough to matter, but it exists.

enough to matter,it's like a 20% damage difference against high defense enemies usually,however both weapons can inflict ichor so it's not as impactful.

When I play ranger,there’s only three weapons I usually use in hardmode: dart pistol, tsunami and the phantasm.
im so glad you mentioned these. I used them so much during early to mid hardmode they would just tear with ichor darts. Me personally though, I enjoy the dart pistol a little more than the rifle.
Tbh the dart gun is safer as it isn't as punishing to miss a shot when it comes to DPS.
Darts are some of the most fun i've had in Terraria. It honestly hurts me that there's no later weapons that use darts as ammo. I would have loved to see a dart machine gun or maybe even a dart shotgun.

bro when i first played corruption and obtained the dart rifle i fell in love, pair it with cursed darts is SO GOOD. it shredded all 3 mech bosses and its so easy to obtain.

doing ranger I've always rushed to my underground corruption as soon as I kill WoF to get the dart rifle, and its amazing up until postmech but after that I'd swap it out for the megashark

I remember when i first got the Dart Rifle, i thought it was crap, but decided to give it a chance with curse darts and ichor and man, that thing helped me to beat the crap out of the mech bosses and events.

It doesn't make much sense. Types of armor differ little from each other and the next armor you get is usually superior to the last one, the exception is holy armor, but, albeit not about it itself, but about the set that includes it, there was already a video.

The dart rifle with cursed darts got me through pirates, queen slime, all the mech bosses, plantera, frost moon, blood moon, pumpkin moon, solar eclipse and golem. Very OP.

I knew this would come on at some point, I love the dart rifle due to its high damage and it shreds the mechanical bosses with ease, it is scary how underrated they are.

I fancy myself quite the sharpshooter (hey, us Canadians do have some of the best snipers in the world) and so I tend to go for the slower, harder hitting weapons like the Musket vs Undertaker, or Dart Rifle vs Pistol. Nothing to do with ammo conservation, I just like the satisfaction of landing fullscreen long bomber shots.
well i must say i did used the dart rifle but it has some unique ability when u shoot in the terrain the darts will automaticlly ricochet in to ways to left and right which further increase the dmg when it comes to events
Fond memories of the Dart Rifle. It was my first ever drop from the mimic. Still remember setting the rails up and FINALLY beating it! It was so freaking intense at the time. Used that gun so, so, soooo much because of that! Good freaking memories! 😊

You can get crimson mimics in corrupted worlds btw,and vice versa i did it in my own world by making a artificial crimson biome in the cavern layer(idk if the layer matters)
The dart rifle is probably my favourite just because whenever I want to play a mod on 1.3 tmodloader, the dart rifle’s horrendous old texture is there, waiting for me.
Fun fact: it is possible to get the other world evil dart gun
Step 1: get into hard mode
Step 2: put dryad in a graveyard
Step 3: buy the opposite world evil seeds from her
Step 4: place the seeds down and let them take over at least 200 stone blocks
Step 5: build an underground opposite world evil farm
Step 6: find mimic
Step 7: kill and repeat until you have the rifle
I think the best bet would be to get a stack of ichor darts and the pistol, and use them in combination with a rapid-fire gun and your bullet of choice (for example, the chain gun snd chlorophyte bullets); use the darts to inflict ichor and the chain gun to deal damage, and just switch back to the darts when you need to refresh
I like the dart guns because, as a ranger, I can inflict ichor without worrying about sacrificing either bullets or arrows that can do much more damage than the ichor variants of each. And since the darts split to cover a large area, I can just pop one or two darts and go back to mowing the foes or bosses down. It's really good
You ought to make a video on the death sickle, it's one of my favorites.
You should make a video like this on the Marrow! It is a very powerful and often overlooked early hardmode bow.
I guess it mostly comes down to if you're trying to dps armor based enemies or hp based ones, but you'd want a raw dps increase on the faster one to get an advantage besides spray and pray/slightly more granular dmg

i use the dart pistol + ichor darts to apply ichor without having to swap bullets or arrows around, plus the pistols extra firerate is better at reapplying ichor

Both of them are really good and equal, so it doesn't really matter if you go for either one of them. Personally, I'd go for the dart pistol, because of increased fire rate and pairs well with ichor darts.
I actually grew to like the dart rifle with cursed darts more due to bringing pretty insane crowd control and single target damage to the table. With the cursed flames splitting off, hitting something big like the boss often hits them 2 to 3 times and the cursed inferno debuff was also heavily buffed.
In some runs, I keep using the dart rifle until the lunar pillar event just for how versatile and strong it is, especially considering how early it is accessible. The dart pistol with ichor darts is still a very strong option of course! Although the golden shower will eventually take its space as utility weapon.
Coming back to terraria on mobile trying expert mode for the first time, your videos are a godsend thank you ya legend.

Used a dart rifle on destroyer yesterday with curse flame darts which was so good against it
It reminds me of the prehardmode biome guns. Musket is slower but has higher damage, and the crimson pistol is the reverse. And in that case Musket also outdps pistol by a small amount of damage
I would say, the pistol with ichor darts is a good option and with a simple farm , you can get tons of ichor and solves the ammo problem.

Ngl these weapons are amazing because I was easily capable of killing all mechs and plantera with just a dart rifle and cursed darts, it’s my new favorite early hardmode weapon.
I use Ichor Dart Pistol on my main character to debuff enemies as it's the best method of applying Ichor, although I could use Ichor Flasks due to being melee

I've found that using crystal and ichor darts with the pistol makes for excellent crowd control.
These paired with cursed darts and a clinger staff makes farming the OOA really easy, at least for the 2nd tier
They can even be used against plantera with the Crystal darts it ricochet a lot and deals a lot of damage
Dude these weapons only start to suck when compared to Duke,empress,and pillar weapons lol(or good guns like zenopopper with chloraphyte bullets,but those are expensive).
The latest part of the game where dart pistol/rifle are stupid strong is the post plantera dungeon,and even after that they're usable.
When I got terraria for the switch I got my hands on the dart pistol and it helped me shred the destroyer with the Ichor darts

The dart rifle with the corruption darts is one of the best and most reliable ways to fight the destroyer, and is one of the weapons that speedrunners sometimes use to fight it because of its ease of obtainability and somewhat cheap ammo cost.

There’s a very underrated weapon,
The Flower of Frost, it’s rapid fire rate, bouncing, high damage projectiles makes it great at most hardmode bosses,
It’s even decent against Plantera and Golem
It has a downside of limited range, but you can arc your shots to increase it slightly
It’s not anywhere as good for endgame bosses past Golem,

I used the dart pistol with cursed darts against the destroyer in my most recent drunk world playthrough. It absolutely shredded the giant metal worm. If you’re a daedalus stormbow hater like me then these weapons are perfect for the mech bosses, especially when given the darts they function best with.
Dart Rifle Vs Pistol is one of those.

Each world evil has its upside and downside.
Like the Ichor vs Cursed Flames idea.
Could easily think back to even pre-hardmode where you can get either the scarf or the brain from those bosses.
cursed flame darts is underrated if you line up the shots right all mechs are gone ez and even plantera with a big arena will be absolutely annihilated
The different dart guns don’t really affect it too much, especially since crafting ammo gives you 100 shots each time for very few resources. It’s mostly personal preference but if you don’t have any particular preference then feel free to just use your world evil version (I usually get the pistol since ichor is so good, and the cursed darts only really kill Destroyer which isn’t an issue)
