Nowadays the best arrows to use against Destroyer with Deadalus Stormbow are, incredibly ironically, Unholy Arrows

I find it interesting that the destroyer is highly cheesable but nobody bullies him like golem. I guess golem is just on another level.
The difference is that the destroyer is actually pretty difficult if it actually lives for more than a few seconds

One is the first harmode boss for many players and the other was considered the final boss for almost a year
Golem doesn't need to be cheesed, he simply dies. Destroyer unchecked can be terrifying
Stormbow is still extremely good against the destroyer, but you are better of using hellfire, jester, or unholy arrows since holy arrows don't pierce and the extra damage from the projectiles just isn't worth it. Hellfire stormbow when aimed at coil takes out 70% of master mode destroyers health before it can uncoil.
I literally forgot my holy arrows before before starting an expert mode fight, and just fought him with the endless quiver instead.
It was till easy.
The Flamethrower is also surprisingly effective, despite what you may expect at first, but the ignoring 15 defense points, the decent piercing and fast hit rate it has can quickly melt The Destroyer
Absolutely, I picked flamethrower as my weapon against mechdusa in my legendary GFB run, it was super efficient. ( And I also use it to burn down Plantera later, such a nice weapon. )
Well my Excalibur kill it in like 1 min

I know it's post-plantera but I'd of LOVED to see an honourable mention for the proximity mine launcher. It has the highest theoretical TTK vs the destroyer, of under 0.5 seconds. If you had a single platform filled with PML mines and summoned the destroyer (where he'd be forced to spawn on that platform), he would be dead before the cast animation for the mechanical worm ended.
Similar but can be obtained easily is using dynamite while the Destroyer is clumped up and killing it in probably a similar time if not slightly slower, still quicker than any of the weapons in this video

I found out that the life drain has the consistency of the tome but the kill time of the star shooter, and is easier to get than both, so I’d argue for the life drain imo

after seeing dart rifle with cursed darts i can say that this is my new favourite pick for destroyer due to the fact of its early obtain ability.
Myself, i just literally put down all the bosses till Duke and Empress with Cursed/Crystal darts because i decided that its just fine this way, such an absurd weapon that i didn't noticed till recent challenge run. Wow

You're using the star cannon VERY wrong. Fall through your hellevator so you can shoot the whole destroyer at once. You won't get hit at all and it takes like... 15 seconds

You can also insert a shadowflame knife into the video. This is a very underrated weapon that, due to bouncing off the destroyer segments, deals huge damage to it, idk why no one uses it

Still it deals much less than other weapons, so i would say it suits for this category.
Life drain will always be the most underrated destroyer weapon. Heavily relies on attacking the destroyer ball, but can easily do a sub 15 second kill in master mode.
Awesome video! You should do a video on the marrow bow. It is probably one of the most skipped over bows in the game and, who knows, it might be pretty good!
All your gonna need is a piercing weapon to destroy the destroyer
In my Warrior Run, I used Excalibur. I got him in 1 attempt, although it was *classic mode*
Sock is doing this on Master.
However, on my 'fortheworthy' Legendary Mode Run, I beat Destroyer in 1 attempt with a Summoner Loadout, using the Sanguine Staff, Firecracker, Cool Whip, and Daedalus Stormbow with Holy Arrows for the worm itself, I used the Sanguine Bats and whips to ward off Probes.
My DPS regularly hit 3600.
I beat Destroyer (204,000 HP) in 4 minutes without an arena or any platforms. A record for me.
(When I said "record" I meant, that I never fight Destroyer without an arena, but sometimes I do a test run just to see. The 4 min kill isn't the fastest I have done, rather, I killed it in 4 seconds with a Stardust Armor Summoner Loadout using the Terraprisma and Zenith with Lunar Portal sentries.)

I recently did a playthrough with NPC weapons only, and I killed the Destroyer suprisingly fast with, of all things... the Jousting Lance, it was crazy
back in version 1.2 i used the pirate's Cutlass, it really gets nutty dps when reforged to legendary
Also, I've watched basically every weapon review lol, sock is just THAT good
I just want to add part of the reason the stormbow has high early-HM pick rates is also due to the fact that its pretty good against the other mechs as well. Same ammo/evil arrows work. Same goes for dart rifle and meteor staff, but thats about it from the list from a practical, casual playthough POV
Flying dagger on clumped up part is shocking.
Even if you can't get to it on time,holding it still makes it fly left to right.
With easy obtainability(hallowed mimics)and great damage(around 63 base damage)it WILL hit 5-7 segments at a time
Assuming you are melee,as that is the damage tipe,you will find yourself doing up to 2500 dps with melee emblem
It has unlimited range as it follows your cursor and doesn't come back to the player untile you let go of the trigger.
And it is also good for twins as the infinite range lets you hit them from anywhere
Skeletron prime might put up a struggle but not that much so you can realy use it for all mech bosses and most events
If your pushing the boundaries,yes it could ne hafective on plantera with it's infinite pierce and range
So basically its something you can get at the start of hardmode and it can carry you to plantera
there's a viable choice for every class (except summoner lol) to cheese the destroyer, which just goes to show how easy the destroyer is if you actually fight it right

True number 1 is a box in the air some chests and a lot of dynamite unrelated to class and pre hard mode.
That’s what I did for my WR run lmao, it’s so easy to do
How to fix The Destroyer to make him not cheesable:
Make him split into multiple segments like his pre-hardmode counterpart.
The changes the dev made to him in 1.4 was just lazy, and didn’t actually make the fight harder, just encouraged you to want to cheese it MORE to get through its bloated HP.
if they make him split like eater of worlds things would go crazy since the guy is 2-5 times longer than his pre-hardmode analog and also he has those annoying minions
If I got £1 every time I’ve heard sock say the words “drippler crippler” in the last couple of months I could give Elon musk a run for his money
I actually use the regular Night’s Edge to defeat the destroyer. Despite being a pre hardmode weapon, it deals respectable damage, not as good as the drippler crippler, but easier to obtain when blood moons just don’t appear.
U can also use the Excalibur cuz it took me 1 min to beat it(I did it when I needed more souls of might)
You have never played Terraria, unless you have bullied either the destroyer and or golem.
you forgot the crystal darts , even though they bounce they literally bounce between the destroyer's segments , and it's my go-to destroyer killing machine when i can't find a meteorite or an obsidian key to make the star cannon and if i was in a crimson world where cursed flames are inoptainable
The Drippler Crippler is one of my favourite weapons in Terraria of all time.
I once beat the destroyer with the magic harp in about 5 seconds
(It was bunched up though)

Since you showed off the phantom phoenix I've loved that Bow and I go for it in every playthrough. It may not have the fastest times but man is it satisfying to send a phoenix through the destroyers entire body for thousands of damage!
When i entered hardmode (pre mech bosses) in my second legit new playthrough world (master), I crafted the Super Starshooter and let me tell you how underrated of a weapon this is. I nearly beat The Twins first try UNPREPARED with the Super Starshooter. The Super Starshooter helped me from mech bosses to Golem. It wasnt until after Golem was defeated that i got the Terrablade (multi-class run). Since then ive been stuck with Lunatic Cultist and Empress of Light (both night- and daytime).
Super star shooter is so badass, made much better when it was made craftable rather than when it was a random travelling merchant item! Honestly think all rangers should grab it just for its pure damage vs bosses
it's not underrated, it just consumes stars as hell so nobody wants to mess with it
I think he likes the drippler crippler but it is just a hunch
The phantom Pheonix if you can get the pheonix to go through the segments does crazy high damage

Funny enough, for me at least, the destroyer during my mage playthrough was the one boss of the trio to actually kick my teeth in multiple times. Same for my first full terraria play through as well, the mechanical menace made the twins look like easy bosses
Honestly I think they could buff the destroyer by making the weapons damage decrease by like 25 percent per segment it pierces
they did that to whips and a lot (but not all) of piercing related weapons

As a dart gun enthusiast I'm very pleased
I think I might transform my minishark to a star cannon
I think the most broken combo here would be clinger staff nimbus rod forbidden armor and the tome of infinite wisdom
beenades are also crazy and can take him out sub 20 seconds
I was amazed at the Shadowflame Dagger's ability to shred master mode destroyer, while it's arguably one the easiest early hardmode weapon to obtain
I personally nominate the Forbidden armor for it's set bonus, putting tornadoes down to hit any segments that pass by
my best was clinger + nimbus for most of the damage then any weapon just to take out the probes
seriously when i was in mage only i had only the Forbidden armor with no hardmode weapons, demon scythe and aqua scepter and the rest of pre-hardmode weapons on expert, and i beat it.
in melee: use a spear and sword
in range: the iconic bow with holy arrows
in mage: use debuff books and ironically the Aqua scepter for piercing or meteor staff if you want the stormbow 2.0
and summoner: A Optic staff or Blade staff with the firecracker or durendal
My favorite is the cursed flames dart rifle, as it's not too hard to use, not too hard to get with reasonable ammo you will probably get while farming for it
i believe you should mention legendary mode destroyer being immune to star cannon and its upgrade
You can also 1 tap the destroyer with enough mines from the Explosive Trap Cane, although it uses the glitch of storing Etherian Mana in a chest and takes a lot of time.

The question is how does a mechanical boss have ZERO defense? That is why you can battle them even with prehardmode items...
I want a video about how to cheese the duke fishron (just after wall of flesh) and to cheese the dungeon gaurdian in the beginning of the game for his items, how to lure him to minecart track/hoik setup without dying.
Also how to cheese the moon lord.

Honestly I would still recommend beginners to use the nimbus rod. You can build a 1 block wide solid block skybridge and the rain will still fall through it if you place the cloud directly on the floor. Then you can run left and right to prevent the destroyer from reaching you, and all you have to do is kill some probes.
Daedalus stormbow with piercing arrows can easily get >2000, often >3500 dps incredibly reliably on destroyer
Ok at this point I think TH-cam can read minds because i was literally thinking to myself what weapon I should use against the destroyer like a minute before opening TH-cam and this being the first video up
If you wanna grind the Destroyer in the postgame for some easy cash, just yoink an S.D.M.G. from the Moon Lord, craft a stack of Luminite Bullets, and go ham since the 15 pierce mechanic of the bullets means you're basically sextupling your damage output on top of them having extremely good base damage. You want to catch the Destroyer as it uncoils though since the piercing can be hard to line up otherwise, and the damage falls off for each pierce.
personally id use something like the pulse bow, because with good armor its damage goes up almost 200 with infinite penetration, and putting this up with the infinite arrow quiver means you have unlimited ammo and unlimited piercing

Heres a ez way to kill destroyer
Make platform high enough so it cant reach u then grapple into the platform to clip urself in and disable projectiles now the only thing that can hit u is the probes body

I have one simple answer to this. Piercing. If a weapon (preferably a projectile) has piercing…you win.
For my WR run for All Achievements I used… dynamite, and that’s it.
Go to the right side ocean and in the middle of the ocean pile up about 30 blocks and place a block that’s resistant to explosions (hardmode ore, chest with item in, etc)
Then go up about 70 blocks and put a small platform.
Remove all blocks used to build up, throw some dynamite, then kill the Destroyer.
It takes less than 5 mins to set up, kills the Destroyer much quicker than any of the weapons in the video and is actually the earliest obtainable one
(Btw this doesn’t work on the left hand ocean cause there are some hidden blocks that the Destroyer can spawn on that you can’t see when playing but can if you load up a world download)
So yeah, if you wanna kill the Destroyer as quickly as possible while using pre HM weapons and gear, use dynamite
My number 1 pick for destroyer is the flame thrower
i played terraria spears only and in hardmode i used the ghastly glaive to cheese him and it didnt even take long to defeat him while prime and twins are dead with gungnir
gungnir/ adamantite glaive/ titanium trident are my #1 picks
I fought all mechbosses and did all in one try with cool whip and blade staff
love how the devs got so pissed at the star cannons that in ftw basically every single boss reflects it

It's been a while but I recall the Magical Harp just shredding this thing if you get it in an enclosed space.

I like to enclose myself in a box with honey and regen and defense buffs like for dreadnautilus except high in space where destoyer can't reach me and use the stormbow

If they made the destroyer immune to peircing it would be a serious obstacle, it would become THE iconic difficult mech boss, but because it doesn't destroh projectiles, cancel meelee swings, and stun minions, it's the cheesiest boss in the game
what bothers me the most if how it's tail is bundled up when it spawns, allowing you to deal absolutely LUDICROUS amounts of damage
i'd want it to have some kind of piercing resistance honestly, it's just too easy otherwise, even true melee bullies it
the near instakill head kinda makes up for it, makes the boss not entirely a cake walk
imagine menacing accessesories, tome of cheese, clinger staff and nimbus rod well placed, you could kill it in 5 seconds
The fetid bakhanags did the trick for me as you just stand there where he spawns and just shred him
