  • This is the seventy-eighth in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover:
    - Fitting all but 2 sets of stairs
    - Fitting the railings over raised portions of the boat deck.
    - A more detailed look at my keel.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!

    You should try to build the H.M.H.S Britannic when the Titanic is finished

      Might do one day! I’m a bit sick of the Olympic class liners for now though! So I’ll do something else first

    More sterling work, and just goes to show that a decent pair of tweezers is just as good as an expensive bender!

      Thanks Martin! Interestingly they are really good tweezers, but I have absolutely no idea where they came from. But yeah they great!
      Thanks as always,

    Hi Rob, excellent video and food for thought on the stair construction. The teak effect was a good call. The KA kit does have tiny additional pads and wooden anti slip gratings. Instructions, Page 10 parts B24, C16, C17. These may of helped a little bit on the angle of the hand rail grips. Somewhat ironically the gratings at the bottom of the steps were called 'splats'! 😂Honestly that's what they are called!!! Later perhaps the odd little person could be ascending a set of steps?! Regards JH ⚓

      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers John, I need to add those anti slip trees right at the end, it's on the snagging list but there's a lot of stuff to do! It would be nice to have some figures climbing the stairs, only challenge is getting one in the correct position for that. Maybe a bit of surgery would give us the effect!
      Thanks,
      Robbie

      @@TheModelBoatGuy Yes, probably easier to perform surgery on figures with legs in trouser! A little filing at the hip and behind the knees should do it. A little glue will act as a filler as the figures are so small. No anaesthetic required! John ⚓

    Good video as usual I think I've not seen metal caps on steps in any pictures of older ships. If you think about it they would polish the wooden steps so my guess is they didn't have Metal caps if this makes sense.

      CA glue booster/kicker. Helps the CA set up much quicker than normal air drying time. 👍
