  • This is the eighty-sixth in a series of videos I’m going to produce to document the building of my Trumpeter 1:200 model Titanic. In this episode I cover:
    - Painting 1st and 2nd class passengers and officers for the boat deck.
    - Assembling folded and deployed deck chairs.
    - Adding the above to the boat deck.
    If you want to see more regular updates have a look at my Instagram page (same name as the channel). I post photos as I'm building there so you don't have to wait for the videos to be edited!

    even if all the rest was there, just these painted little figures are a masterpiece of realism and showing of backstory and realism that ties it together

    I've always been a fan of the Titanic since it's discovery in 1985. Being a former member of the Titanic historical society in Massachusettes. I've collected memorabilia, videos.ect. Even after more than a 100 years the events of April 15th 1912 still have a powerful alure. With the recent tragic events of the crew of Titan my thoughts go to their families and loved ones. enjoyed watching your series on building the Titanic model and look forward to the next project.

    Words can't describe what a stunning work of art this is. One of the most challenging tasks for SOME model makers can be beautifully painted figures for the decks. Those deck chairs and figures make this thing look like she's come back to life. Beautiful work, great log update, yet to start my own 1/200 Gneisenau and I'm looking forward to it, watching these gives me a lot of confidence - well done 👏

    For the future project, what I saw other modellers do is to put some wash on the figures, this adds complexity and realism with very little effort. Anyway, great job making the whole model, it looks like a loooot of work and patience :) well done!

    The addition of the figures adds some really nice obvious and subtle shadows to the decks. You could really mistake the final images for aerial shots of the actual ship

    The ship really does come alive by adding all those wonderful figures on deck. It's a shame I won't be able to for my 1/400 project, but I'll try and have a bunch of nano sized ones safely on the inside.

    Hi Rob, excellent work. The little people certainly add an impressive dynamic to your model. Dare I say that your miniature painting skills have really notched up with this latest and final batch of 9mm people! The added little mini diorama's of groups of people actually involved on deck was a great idea. The deck chairs are a good inclusion too. I will drop you a line soon on my own snail like progress! Hope you had a good break too. Regards JH 😉⚓

      Hi there John,
      Hope you are going ok! Sorry I’ve been dreadful at keeping in touch recently.
      Yeah Im glad these people are all done, you certainly get into a bit of a routine with them. And you sort of work out what looks good, and what dosent look so good! I painted a good few more than those shown that I thought looked a bit too garish. All in all I’m glad these are complete, though a bit sad I’m nearly finished with the model.
      Hope all is well on Olympic,
      I’ll get in touch soon, promise!

      Well I can only speak for the product I’ve used, but it’s not left any marks for me. I suspect if you used it on a very very pure white you might end up with a residue, but I’ve not had any issues so far 🙂

      Tbh a lot of these colours were improvised, mixing different paints together. I used the internet to find 1912 fashions:

    Hey buddy I just found out that someone is trying to build a triple fusion engine in 1/200 I was wondering if it's possible if you're up for it if you want to install the triple fusion engine on your model it would be a great a great site

    Hi am looking at the rigging on the top deck how do I get them to stick on there are no hooks or anything in the kit

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well I used an add on kit called KA. This included hooks etc.
      if you don’t have that I’d suggest making your own, either from fine brass wire, or maybe very fine tacks

    Hate to break this to you bro, the Tori Factory figures scale out to 4-1/2 ft tall. WAY too short. They are actually 1/250 scale. I know from experience unfortunately. Waiting on the other brand... Sucks they don't know how to scale out.

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว

      In truth I don’t really know, as I haven’t made the Agora model. Trumpeter is plastic, and not painted, so there’s a lot more work involved I would guess. But I really don’t know for sure!

    The davits are too small on THIS model. At 1:200 they are 5.75 meters high... So this model is missing a few millimeters

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Interesting, could you refer me to a dimensioned drawing? I have never been able to track down a fully dimensioned drawing of the Welin davits used on titanic

    • @Monteur92
      @Monteur92 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The Titanic had the newest lifeboat davits of its time, the Welin davits, which were up to 5.57m high. the anchoring to the ground was 1.55 m wide and the lifeboat could be swung 2.62 m away from the ship. Calculate it yourself. 1:200 by 5.75 meters

    Beautiful work, I'm not sure on the officers white caps as I'm 63 yrs young and my first job back in 1978 was in Greenberg's Merchant navy outfitters in Liverpool and the caps where all black with a white water proof cover for bad weather, I don't think these would of been around back then but you never know for sure 👍

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi there,
      I think you are correct actually. I believe the white topper was part of the summer uniform for White Star Officers. Basically I made the decision to have white caps a fair while back (before I knew definitely if it was white or black) and have decided to stick with it.
      I might go back and pain over them all in due course!
