Safe to say, you have elevated this model far above the original vision that Trumpeter had during the design stage and you have really honoured the work done by the designers and builders of the actual ship. I have a feeling you're going to have a lot of folk wanting to attend the maiden voyage in person.

      Hi Garry,
As always thank you for the comment. I have really enjoyed the building and learning on this project, so it’s all good!
Maiden voyage isn’t far off now, might be a bit far to come from Glasgow for it mind!
      Hope you’re keeping well?
      Robbie

I was exploring the new Version of Titanic Honor & Glory the other day and between watching your build videos and some other Titanic Content on youtube (Oceanliner Design is doing some great stuff about her as well among other things) and realized its just such a nice thing to have this wealth of information. For example I had never heard about the... now I forgot the official term, lets call it the "Lightshrouds" that shield the Officers on the bridge from the lights - so now when i'm exploring the THG model and come across those in 1st Person i'm like "Oh right, I've seen that in the Build video" - good stuff as always :)

Well thats what I get for chiming in before finishing the Video - you even mentioned Oceanliner Design... ah well, can't hurt to mention him in the comments as well I suppose!

Aah yeah I have been on the new Titanic H&G demo too, really lovely stuff. And this one shows a lot more about how the ship fitted together I thought. Looking up from the engine room to the engine casing on the boat deck is just grand.
Yeah oceanliner designs is really good stuff. Properly nicely thought through content, and as you say we are very lucky to have such resources. Imagine what building a Titanic model was like in the 60’s! When your best bet was to go and find a library book on the subject I guess.

The collapsible lifeboat placement was nicer on Olympic, her boats were stacked one on top of the other on either side of the emergency boats. The decision to put then up on the officer's quarters was only made on Titanic.

Aaaah I didn’t realise that, this seems like a more logical positioning to me, perhaps less aesthetically pleasing but that’s not really the consideration with lifeboats!

Well done Rob, now you can stand back and see all that painstaking detail to it's best advantage! Interesting fact about the safety rails on the first couple of boats. I will research that a bit for my own efforts! Regards JH😉⚓

Thanks John, yes I think I’m right in what I say there about the safety rails. It would certainly make sense for them not to be there, not least because presumably they would slow down access to the 25” cutters!
Hope all is well? I’ll be in touch soon,
      Robbie

Looks good Robbie. I’ve come to the conclusion that in the passenger promenade areas, the handrails were wooden. In crew promenades it’s seems they were just painted metal rails. I think this would include the engineers promenade down the boat deck as well.

Aah ok, seems like a strange thing to change but I guess it’s for appearance as much as anything. I’m glad someone else has noticed that too though! At one point I was swithering about what to do

More fine and fiddly detail work, which brings this model to life. Am I right in thinking the company which made the original Titanic Davits were the same company who built them for the Cameron film? Seem to remember that being something I heard

    • @TheModelBoatGuy
      @TheModelBoatGuy  ปีที่แล้ว +1

Yes that is correct, apparently they were beefed up considerably to make them more stable, but still wobbled quite dramatically! Wouldn’t have been a nice experience being lowered by them.
That said they were a wonderful design. Very innovative

Haha it’s a great model to make, but yeah getting over the hump and parting with the money for it isn’t always easy!
But it’s money well spent as it will keep you busy for hours and hours!

Wasnt there some kind of railing to stop passengers to enter the officer space?
