Mazda had a bad batch made (camshafts and the vvt rockers), instead of fixing the problem they issued a TSB and left them all in the market (except for a couple of northern European countries where they were forced to do recalls for engine replacements). This is why some engines don't have the problem but most of them do. I have even seen replacement engines with failed camshafts, anything that was put together up to 2017 is suspect. The 3rd revision of the camshaft and the vvt rockers is meant to have fixed the problem.
@@42markk42 It's not fit for purpose and in 2 (that I know of) European countries Mazda did do a recall and engine change. But everywhere else in the world they kept quiet about it hoping (imho) that customers would swallow a dead rat and either junk the car or get it fixed themselves. If the customer approaches Mazda, Mazda fight and deny any issues. In Australia Mazda were taken to court over the engine and lost.
Any chance of uploading all the torque settings for the inlet clean, and exhaust cam change ?. I'm not having any luck locating them.
Do adaptations need to be reset if you replace injector seals? I did the repair at home but do not have diagnostic equipment
What were the symptoms of what happened here, mine only has an error p
Sounds like a whistling Gypsy
Are the camshafts not hardened?

@@caileme Why is Mazda not fixing these with a recall? Surely it's not fit for purpose?

Oh heck, that's a really worn camshaft.
