There’s a good reason why Jon Bernthal proudly states he took inspiration from this short movie. Massive respects to both men. They are both perfect and unique punishers imo
I love the little details in this short. The Punisher is basically a homeless guy living out of a van, as he should be! It is not only unrealistic for a vigilante acting alone to have access to tons of military gear but it detracts from the character. Showing the Punisher surviving in abject poverty emphasizes how self-destructive and anti-social his actions are. The Punisher may be cool but he shouldn't be glamorous. I also like the slow build up to the Punisher finally killing. It shows the silent humiliation the Punisher would live with if he was a normal bystander who just watched and did nothing. It also shows that, while he is extremely violent, he's also not impulsive. Amazing this short showed so much of the Punishers character with such little time and dialogue!

The black guy needs more calcium in his diet. Brittle bones are no joking matter. He has a problem with alcohol too. Just as well he's dead. He would have been a burden on the healthcare system anyway.

Always come back to this every now and then. Fucking brilliant short that was made on a shoestring budget. Very, very impressive and Thomas Jane is in my mind irreplaceable as the punisher. He’s got such a great way of portraying loss, no nope and rage all within one expression. Fantastic work.
not taking anything away from Jane, but he's more fitting to be a young Frank Castle than The Punisher. The version I like most is the Garth Ennis' one. The film needs someone looking more worn out, with cold dead eyes and can convey the pain he keeps inside. Since Jane is older now, maybe he can pull it off.
"I wanted to make a fan film for a character I've always loved and believed in - a love letter to Frank Castle & his fans. It was an incredible experience with everyone on the project throwing in their time just for the fun of it. Despite some poorly written dialogue, scenes that haven't aged well at all, and other cheesy moments; I honestly think it's a solid movie and a throwback to when Marvel IP's started to take off with their film adaptations. Bloody, brutal, raw, and reminiscent of gritty movies from the 70s/80s. I give a 7 if not a 7.5/10 to the OG 2004 Punisher.
Huh??... That lady that he hurt wanted some revenge so she picked up the lighter and tosses it on top of the the guy that was covered in alcohol by Frank Castle. I just finished watching the 04’ Punisher movie with Jane again for the umpteenth time and it made me wish to god he would star as Frank again for a sequel. I started looking up stuff on it and found this short film, and it’s good, but damn. We need another Thomas Jane Punisher!!! The Netflix Punisher is good, no doubt. Jane isn’t getting any younger so I really hope to see a day where we see him as Frank again.
Take note Marvel. That's 4,375,000 views. At $10 a ticket, that's roughly $43 million with no advertising. Now add the Marvel "bump" with its constant marketing strategies and you have a summer blockbuster. And a grateful audience for bringing back Thomas Jane as the Punisher.
FOX TV Exec: "Wait I got a Idea, OK, so I have never actually read a Punisher comic but lets make a Punisher TV show anyway, only we will make it PG-13, and Frank will be a NYPD officer who moonlights as a vigilante not a disturbed Vietnam Vet looking to punish bad people. Who thinks its a good idea? Discuss over a Latte? I have already invited the other Hollywood punisher writers who didn't understand Frank Castle and made the other horrible Punisher movies to join us."
BeginnningoftheEnd Never said he did. But I do think there is better. First of all Jane just doesn't look like Frank. Hes not big enough, he's too young, and he doesn't have what combat vets call the "1000 yard stare", which is the mental baggage combat brings. But my problem with Jane is not him, but his writers. Jane's Punisher is just too talkative. Frank is a man of very few words, and Jane just wont shut up. One of the best things about Rambo: First Blood was that Rambo in the film actually said very little, and when he did speak it was in short sentences. Rambo didn't need to say anything, but you could tell this was not someone you ever wanted to f**k with. I don't think the character would have worked if he were as talkative Had they renamed John Rambo to Frank Castle, you'd have had the best interpretation of the Punisher on film.
HAH! That's similar to the line the reporter uses in the Lundgren Punisher movie. When the gangster's house blows up, he shows up in the door-frame and a reporter goes "Holy shit! It's the Punisher!"

I think he was the perfect actor but the movie lacked a perfect writer or director. Why was it set in Miami? Why was the entire thing just a standard revenge film? Why was he setting up an elaborate psychological plot instead of just killing the bad guys? This short just goes to show that the problem was not Thomas Jane, but sadly that movie failing means everything about it has to go down with it.

Thomas Jane is the best Punisher to me. He refused to appear in the sequel (Punisher: War Zone) because he did not like the script and because he was angry about the budget reduction. He was right because that movie fared worse at the box office and in criticism than in The Punisher (2004). He decided to make this short film as a sign of affection for the character.

Dolph's Punisher was legitimately frightening. Sure, everyone else commited violent acts against criminals but Lundgren's empty thousand-yard stare was haunting.
Jon Bernthal does a great job as Punisher too for Netflix. I think Thomas Jane is more silent and stoic but Bernthal is more brutal and you can see how hurt he is by the PTSD of the war, his family etc.

not taking anything away from Jane, but he's more fitting to be a young Frank Castle than The Punisher. The version I like most is the Garth Ennis' one. Thomas Jane didn't suck. The script needed to step it up but don't blame the actor who actually likes and wants to stay true to the character. smh
He refused to appear in the sequel (Punisher: War Zone) because he did not like the script and because he was angry about the budget reduction. He was right because that movie fared worse at the box office and in criticism than in The Punisher (2004). He decided to make this short film as a sign of affection for the character.

Leave one arm. Leave just a little bit of hope.
Even him just getting out the van is awesome.
Damn, I'd pay good money to see another hour and a half of that.
with all bullshit on theaters right now I would be happy to pay triple to see an old school movie like this
@@gustavopaz1804 I PAY QUADRUPLE THE PRICE!!!!
It would be a fantastic opening sequence to a Punisher movie, that's for sure.
@Knox2Don as i said an old school movie no more than 2 hours it makes more intense compact movie without all that stuffing bullshit
YES SIr YES SIR
best punisher ever, but also really believable bad guys. actors, costumes everyone did a reeeeeally good job here.
This man is real Frank Castle! Real Punisher!
Jon Bernthal does a great job as Punisher too for Netflix. I think Thomas Jane is more silent and stoic but Bernthal is more brutal and you can see how hurt he is by the PTSD of the war, his family etc.
Bernthal can stay in wd
They're both equally good.
