Bernthal is awesome in the show. But the problem is that the Punisher is not an emotionally or morally complex guy, and the showrunners wrote him as one. Personally, I'd love a "No Way Home" scenario where this version of Jane's Punisher meets the Daredevil season 2 version of Bernthal's Punisher
Dont get me wrong, Thomas Jane is cool, but Jon Bernthal is the punisher. His acting in the show is hands down some of the best ive ever seen. An incredible show that managed to have plenty of violence, but actually a lot more story to tell.

It's just so weird to me, because I liked the Punisher show very much, but I found Bernthal's acting pretty damn underwhelming in most of his scenes and downright atrocious in some. His constant under his breath mumbling, head-bobbing and eye-shifting almost drove me nuts and have prevented me from watching it again, though I kinda want to by now. I always had trouble seeing Bernthal as intelligent enough to play the perfect Punisher. I'm curious, how did you like Ray Stevenson in the role? I think he was awesome, but didn't like the movie (Warzone) a whole lot.
I think that Thomas Jane is a great actor; but Ray Stevenson (Punisher War Zone) actually "looked" and acted the most like the Punisher, followed by a close second of Dolph Lundgren in the original. Thomas Jane is awesome...but just not big or menacing enough.
Punisher trying not to be Punisher for just one day (or at least a couple of minutes) Thomas Jane brought so much more meaning to The Punisher character than any other incarnation I've seen. Jon Berthal was more-so an animal, which also works well for the Punisher

I threw an empty bottle of Mickeys at a sign while in the passenger seat it missed and bounced down the road even made a few sparks...didn't break. The next Mickeys hit a sign at 60mph and still did not break.
Despite some poorly written dialogue, scenes that haven't aged well at all, and other cheesy moments; I honestly think it's a solid movie and a throwback to when Marvel IP's started to take off with their film adaptations. Bloody, brutal, raw, and reminiscent of gritty movies from the 70s/80s. I give a 7 if not a 7.5/10 to the OG 2004 Punisher.

I just finished watching the 04’ Punisher movie with Jane again for the umpteenth time and it made me wish to god he would star as Frank again for a sequel. I started looking up stuff on it and found this short film, and it’s good, but damn. We need another Thomas Jane Punisher!!! The Netflix Punisher is good, no doubt. And I love John’s portrayal of Frank in the show too, but something about Thomas Jane’s performance of Frank is just so damn raw! I love it! Jane isn’t getting any younger so I really hope to see a day where we see him as Frank again.
Thomas Jane is the best Punisher to me. I love the Netflix series with Jon Bernthal, but Thomas Jane show us, is love for the character when he made this short in 2012, his movie was very good considering that he only had a budget of 35 million. He refused to appear in the sequel (Punisher: War Zone) because he did not like the script and because he was angry about the budget reduction. He was right because that movie fared worse at the box office and in criticism than in The Punisher (2004). He decided to make this short film as a sign of affection for the character.

The Punisher was designed to represent a failure of the system so bad that a vigilante was the only form of justice and salvation for the people left. A necessary evil. So that's basically the perfect description of him.

Ron Pearlman is an asshole. Anyone who has filmed around him rather it be just backdrops or other actors know he's an asshole. He won't acknowledge anyone when he's not filming.
Dolph's Punisher was legitimately frightening. Sure, everyone else commited violent acts against criminals but Lundgren's empty thousand-yard stare was haunting.
What I really like in this short is not the violence or the fact that Thomas Jane plays the Punisher, its that he let the victims decide the fate of their attacker. He only set the stage and left it to those directly affected to decide the next step. In doing so he gave the woman her power back to deal with her abuser as she seems fit. He doesn't force his own "problem solving method" onto others and instead let them make their own decision. Mad respect for that 🖤🏴☠️

Back here in the year 2023. In a world where we lost Ray Stevenson a few weeks back this is the Punisher i most want to revisit. His movie was strange but Jane played a great Castle.

The punisher kind of works perfectly for an indie low budget thing. I do love the netflix show, but it's sad that it can't just be a public domain property.
He brought so much gravitas and humanity to the role in the 2004 movie. Don’t get me wrong I think Bernthal was an amazing Punisher and I’d love for him to continue, but there was something so simply human in the way Jane portrayed the character. I would love to see him reprise the role as well.

I think he was the perfect actor but the movie lacked a perfect writer or director. Why was it set in Miami? Why was the entire thing just a standard revenge film? Why was he setting up an elaborate psychological plot instead of just killing the bad guys? This short just goes to show that the problem was not Thomas Jane, but sadly that movie failing means everything about it has to go down with it.

When it was made the big studios had a different view of comic book movies and their potential success. Now after The marvel disney movies the industry has changed dramatically. I would love to see Tomas Jane again, but we have Bernthal and netflix now and we are stuck with it.

A delicious for the fans who love F.Castle. Thomas Jane was so near to be in Deadpool 3, but at the end they didn't hired him, but they mentioned it on the movie. I loved this video. This is so good, Jane truly loved the character and told a buddy of mine at a signing that "there hasn't been a fitting film version of Punisher yet" even after his. Guy is a class act and my favorite Castle to this day.
Thomas Jane is an underrated actor. The subtley of his expressions and his silent rage in this short are fantastic! A really expressive actor great work Tom! And the director does an Amazing job in this as well
Vic Damon yea a good actor as castle but the movie was not as violent or action packed as the comics but then you got war zone that fixed a lot of that but had a good actor that just did not fit the role of punisher, the Netflix series is good and Bernthal make a great punisher BUT as you said Thomas Jane was Damn good. Jane brought more to the character and really got you to feel and connect with him. I did love the fight with The Russian it was done well the scene where his family died was also well done but most of it was just him doing well nothing.

That would be awesome. Thomas Jane has always been one of my favorite actors. The whole multiverse thing, like mentioned here, could have big potential in upcoming films if done right. It would be absolutely amazing if Jon Bernthal was in a Punisher film and Thomas Jane had a slight cameo. For it's flaws as a standalone film, Jane's punisher has a big cult following.

I've seen the first Punisher film with Dolph Lundgren. He did a fine job but I agree that Thomas Jane KILLED it in this version. He basically became Frank Castle.
@@largol33t1 the thing with punisher character is , the older you get - the more you can connect to the character. As a kid , I didn't like punisher all that much because of lack of super power etc ; but as an adult - punisher (along with daredevil) is right at the top spot for me.

I love the little details in this short. The Punisher is basically a homeless guy living out of a van, as he should be! It is not only unrealistic for a vigilante acting alone to have access to tons of military gear but it detracts from the character. Showing the Punisher surviving in abject poverty emphasizes how self-destructive and anti-social his actions are. The Punisher may be cool but he shouldn't be glamorous. I also like the slow build up to the Punisher finally killing. It shows the silent humiliation the Punisher would live with if he was a normal bystander who just watched and did nothing. It also shows that, while he is extremely violent, he's also not impulsive. Amazing this short showed so much of the Punishers character with such little time and dialogue!
I honestly thought it was. Such an amazing job by these guys, though I lose all respect for that hellboy guy bein in it. Guy is a fraud and changes his beliefs with the wind.
It's called acting. That's what Jane has in his eyes. Berenthal may be popular right now, but he will not be remembered as anything more than a glorified soap opera actor. We can all fake pain. Jane isn't faking.

Dont get me wrong, Thomas Jane is cool, but Jon Bernthal is the punisher. His acting in the show is hands down some of the best ive ever seen. An incredible show that managed to have plenty of violence, but actually a lot more story to tell.

I *do respect* the man, no doubt about it. He's hard working, kinda simple but cunning, y'know, street smarts. And I think he's a real genuine guy, salt of the earth. To me Thomas Jane lacked Bernthal's rawness and animalism that helped sell him as Castle, but damn, did Jane nail The Punisher's menacing intelligence, his patience in building up tactics and an actual smart plan to take down Howard Saint's crime syndicate in the 04' movie. I always had trouble seeing Bernthal as intelligent enough to play the perfect Punisher. I'm curious, how did you like Ray Stevenson in the role? I think he was awesome, but didn't like the movie (Warzone) a whole lot.

This 10 minute clip was better than 90 % of the shit in the movies out today.
Despite some poorly written dialogue, scenes that haven't aged well at all, and other cheesy moments; I honestly think it's a solid movie and a throwback to when Marvel IP's started to take off with their film adaptations. Bloody, brutal, raw, and reminiscent of gritty movies from the 70s/80s. I give a 7 if not a 7.5/10 to the OG 2004 Punisher.

I just finished watching the 04’ Punisher movie with Jane again for the umpteenth time and it made me wish to god he would star as Frank again for a sequel. I started looking up stuff on it and found this short film, and it’s good, but damn. We need another Thomas Jane Punisher!!! The Netflix Punisher is good, no doubt. And I love John’s portrayal of Frank in the show too, but something about Thomas Jane’s performance of Frank is just so damn raw! I love it! Jane isn’t getting any younger so I really hope to see a day where we see him as Frank again.
Thomas Jane is the best Punisher to me. I love the Netflix series with Jon Bernthal, but Thomas Jane show us, is love for the character when he made this short in 2012, his movie was very good considering that he only had a budget of 35 million. He refused to appear in the sequel (Punisher: War Zone) because he did not like the script and because he was angry about the budget reduction. He was right because that movie fared worse at the box office and in criticism than in The Punisher (2004). He decided to make this short film as a sign of affection for the character.
As someone who personally prefers Bernthal's punisher, it's great to see someone who prefers Jane's and still respects Bernthal's. Respect bro

Dolph Lundgrens Punisher from the 80s deserves some recognition as most people never knew it was out there, if you can find it its worth watchin
Dolph's Punisher was legitimately frightening. Sure, everyone else commited violent acts against criminals but Lundgren's empty thousand-yard stare was haunting.
What I really like in this short is not the violence or the fact that Thomas Jane plays the Punisher, its that he let the victims decide the fate of their attacker. He only set the stage and left it to those directly affected to decide the next step. In doing so he gave the woman her power back to deal with her abuser as she seems fit. He doesn't force his own "problem solving method" onto others and instead let them make their own decision. Mad respect for that 🖤🏴☠️

He brought so much gravitas and humanity to the role in the 2004 movie. Don’t get me wrong I think Bernthal was an amazing Punisher and I’d love for him to continue, but there was something so simply human in the way Jane portrayed the character. I would love to see him reprise the role as well.

I think he was the perfect actor but the movie lacked a perfect writer or director. Why was it set in Miami? Why was the entire thing just a standard revenge film? Why was he setting up an elaborate psychological plot instead of just killing the bad guys?
This short just goes to show that the problem was not Thomas Jane, but sadly that movie failing means everything about it has to go down with it.

When it was made the big studios had a different view of comic book movies and their potential success. Now after The marvel disney movies the industry has changed dramatically. I would love to see Tomas Jane again, but we have Bernthal and netflix now and we are stuck with it.

I late 12 years in watch that marvelous thing. I love how Thomas Jane portrayed Punisher, one of my favourites characters of all time super heroes. This fan made short movie is wonderful. A delicious for the fans who love F.Castle. Thomas Jane was so near to be in Deadpool 3, but at the end they didn't hired him, but they mentioned it on the movie. I loved this video. This is so good, Jane truly loved the character and told a buddy of mine at a signing that "there hasn't been a fitting film version of Punisher yet" even after his. Guy is a class act and my favorite Castle to this day.

Thomas Jane is an underrated actor. The subtley of his expressions and his silent rage in this short are fantastic! A really expressive actor great work Tom! And the director does an Amazing job in this as well

Thomas Jane was a damn fine punisher. It's too bad everything else was just wrong but definitely not his fault and this goes to prove it.
Vic Damon yea a good actor as castle but the movie was not as violent or action packed as the comics but then you got war zone that fixed a lot of that but had a good actor that just did not fit the role of punisher, the Netflix series is good and Bernthal make a great punisher BUT as you said Thomas Jane was Damn good. Jane brought more to the character and really got you to feel and connect with him. I did love the fight with The Russian it was done well the scene where his family died was also well done but most of it was just him doing well nothing.
The best version of Frank Castle this is the way the comics were written. Cold, focused and relentless. This should be a part one

That would be awesome. Thomas Jane has always been one of my favorite actors. The whole multiverse thing, like mentioned here, could have big potential in upcoming films if done right. It would be absolutely amazing if Jon Bernthal was in a Punisher film and Thomas Jane had a slight cameo. For it's flaws as a standalone film, Jane's punisher has a big cult following.

I've seen the first Punisher film with Dolph Lundgren. He did a fine job but I agree that Thomas Jane KILLED it in this version. He basically became Frank Castle.
@@largol33t1 the thing with punisher character is , the older you get - the more you can connect to the character. As a kid , I didn't like punisher all that much because of lack of super power etc ; but as an adult - punisher (along with daredevil) is right at the top spot for me.

@Gabe Stein the screaming was amazing, part of why I love his version of the character. Shows his anger, and that he's like a wild animal at times. Much more threatening, Jane looks like a normal guy, but Bernthol genuinely looks like he'd smash some asshole's skull without a care

I love the little details in this short. The Punisher is basically a homeless guy living out of a van, as he should be! It is not only unrealistic for a vigilante acting alone to have access to tons of military gear but it detracts from the character. Showing the Punisher surviving in abject poverty emphasizes how self-destructive and anti-social his actions are. The Punisher may be cool but he shouldn't be glamorous. I also like the slow build up to the Punisher finally killing. It shows the silent humiliation the Punisher would live with if he was a normal bystander who just watched and did nothing. It also shows that, while he is extremely violent, he's also not impulsive. Amazing this short showed so much of the Punishers character with such little time and dialogue!

It's called acting. That's what Jane has in his eyes. Berenthal may be popular right now, but he will not be remembered as anything more than a glorified soap opera actor. We can all fake pain. Jane isn't faking.
