I love scrappy quilts and using leftovers. This is a great use of those leftover strips that are too big to be crumbs. This is a great idea for colorful quilt tops that can quickly be made for a boy or girl. Thank you!
Your scrappy quilts always make me happy! They're my favorites!! Thank you for sharing this method, I'm definitely going to do this for my son, and possibly applique some rock and roll things on one side.
I'm a self taught quilter and hoped I could get people interested but didn't succeed. My idea was we would be making quilts for women's and children's shelter. I was stunned when I discovered that in my country charities, hospitals and hospices are not allowed to take handmade items. I sent them to the UK. Reading your comment made me think how good it is to give someone a handmade item without expecting anything in return.
Very nice video, thank you. Thank you for keeping it simple, and also for not playing the music while you are talking, I have found it difficult to hear over music. Great job!
I agree i get so confused with with the scraps of material i have and don’t realize what i can do with it this is perfect video i know i am 5 months to late where have i been to lol from Newfoundland Canada thank you now i know how to do this great tutorial Aug 7 2011
Beth, my scraps always look thready and ugly after seeing how you made this without making a big deal of cutting, starching, and constantly ironing/pressing. Thanks to your relaxed way of making things I will make one.
Beautiful, as usual Beth! I can see this many ways. I’m just beginning to plan baby quilts for Greats, that may not arrive for a few years. So, I can see this as a very neutral baby quilt, adding boy accents on one. And another almost identical, except with girl accents for an expected girl. Then my grands will have a selection, of sorts. I’ve my mothers cedar/‘hope’ chest. I’m planning on creating a selection for choice. I have 13 grands. And I’m excited for the planning process. Happy sewing 🧵!
So inspiring. I love the industriously clever and creative use of leftovers to make something beautiful, useful and treasured. Thank you for sharing your work process.
I love your videos Beth. I wish I didnt have to work so that I could do more sewing. I have loads of scraps and this is a wonderful idea. Monica from Australia
Monica I set my fabrics cut and ready to go. When I get 15 minutes or more I set down and sew. Then I take a few minutes to set up the next set. I get alot accomplished this way. Best wishes and happy quilting.
Thank you for sharing, I am so glad I ran into your video, for sure now I will dare to make one for my 2 year old granddaughter, it came out beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this. I'm making my oldest granddaughter a quilt for her high school graduation. I cut 8" strips of different materials (some were sheets that were my mother's.) I have been sewing the strips together for a few days (it'll be queen size) and I have watched several of your videos. I got this idea from one of your scrappy quilt ideas. I really needed your information on this video to give me a boost of encouragement. Thank you so much.
Hi Beth. I have a few vintage sheets collected from family and thrift shops ( called op shops here In Australia) and have been wondering how to use them. thank-you for sharing this lovely idea. Today I made several of your flower pincushions, hoping to attach some stems( perhaps made from dowel) I hope to make enough in different sizes to fill a vase!! Thanks so much for inspiring me to create!! xxx
I have watched several scrappy quilt methods. I like this the best❣️ I have some flannel scraps and have been sewing them together. I’ll totally be able to do this with them. Thank you.
Love how you work. Thank for the video. Have some good ideas now, as a very new novice quilter I will need to build up some scraps first, but the way my interest is growing I don’t think that day will be very far off, 😆.
Beautiful quilt, and love how you join 2 squares to make the 6ins, thick strips and thin. I would love to know what you think of mixing vintage cotton curtain fabric in scrappy quilts, "Would it be too thick to use?" I am pondering mixing fabrics, I like the idea but have no experience in this area. I would dearly like to know if you have done this. My scraps are out, fabric has arrived and I'm so excited 😃 Thank you for another great video.
The beautiful thing about quilting is that YOU are the creator! If you love the vintage curtain fabric use it. I don't know how thick it is....but many kinds of fabrics have been used over the years in quilts. I would try to use fabrics that are similar in thickness/weight.....but YOU are the boss of your quilt. 🙂
I made a simple quilt of upholstery remnants that were so pretty. I didn't use batting. Upholstery fabrics say professional cleaning though some are all cotton. I gave it as a gift to my sister. She decided to wash it carefully in her bathtub and probably let it air dry. I don't know the condition these many years later but I don't expect it to last as long as a regular quilt.
Hi Do you like this method, or do you prefer sewing a block log cabin style or a block with a foundation. Which is your favorite? Thank you for your beautiful videos.
I love watching you make beautiful quilts! By the way, I am really making progress on my " Merry May" block quilt. My Sheema loves it, so it will be for her ☺️
This quilt is perfect for a baby or a child’s quilt…I love your resourcefulness Beth🪡✂️🧵🔆❤️
Thank you for sharing! I think sometimes we try to make quilts harder than they have to be.
Just finished a scrappy quilt, swore I’d never ever ever…yet, here I go AGAIN 😄❗️loved your video, sometimes we overthink the simple and beautiful.
I really like scrappy projects
Loving your real approach to quilting. Using what you've got. So pretty.
Your voice and the music is so calming and relaxing. Thanks for a helpful and enjoyable video.
So nice of you
My friend’s friend is a quilter and she gave me 3 full bags of fabric scraps and lots of yardage! I will make something like your quilt only bigger!!
Oooh! Lucky you! I love getting scraps gifted to me. 🙂
Lucky you!!
What an easy way to use your scraps 😊 lovely
Simple is my kind of project!! Thanks for reminding me it's O.K.
Beth you have inspired me. I'm sewing my scraps together. Love your tutorials. Your voice is so soothing to listen to. Love love love you!

I made one like this over the summer and it came out BEAUTIFUL. I called it "the quilt of many colors" and donated it to the local woman's shelter.
@ Rebecca
That's such a wonderful thing to do. May the Father Bless You! I use to donate baby blankets to children's services for foster homes.

I’m in love with this quilt. I love, love, love scrappy quilting.
Such a sweet quilt. It has a vintagy feel to it and looks like a well loved quilt already!
Thanks for showing us how to use bigger scraps without cutting them down over and over.
You are so welcome!
I love this idea. You could do so many things with this idea.
Great job. Sometimes simple is good!

Great idea! Use sraps or hit the remnant section at JoAnn's...though quilting cottons and flannels go quickly.
love your quilt projects!!! Thank you so much.
Your videos are so relaxing. I love your new hair cut :)
I have a quilt top made of Christmas jelly roll and have been trying to figure out how I wanted to finish it. Now I know !!

Hi
Do you like this method, or do you prefer sewing a block log cabin style or a block with a foundation. Which is your favorite?
Thank you for your beautiful videos.
I enjoy it ALL! 🙂
I love watching you make beautiful quilts!
By the way, I am really making progress on my " Merry May" block quilt. My Sheema loves it, so it will be for her ☺️
I made one like this, in a quilt as you go pattern
👏
Am I understanding those to be 6 inch square blocks?
they are not 6" squares....but 6" wide. I lined them up and made each column the same length after making a bunch of 6" wide CHUNKS. Hope that helps.
@@bethshibleyquilts yes. Love watching your videos. TY 😊
Did you decide what colors you would use or just pull from the scraps?
I began with a few and kept adding colors. It’s always a surprise what will appear😊
Where do u find Vintage sheets?
I find them at the thrift store. 😉
Would like to see the end result
There’s one at the opening of the video
Me gustaría que fuera en español
Where do you start to quilt this quilt
I usually begin in the center and work out from there
Qual a medida das faixas??????
The chunks of fabric are all cut to 6” wide and joined into long columns.
6 inches = 15 cm
Maybe it’s the way it’s hanging…doesn’t look straight ?
I wish I had more scraps .... probably not what you hear too often.
You'll have more than you need before you know it if you keep sewing! 😉
