You and your mother are so awesome! You make cooking Chinese fun, meaningful, and educational. For someone, like myself who wasn't very confident in cooking many of the staple "takeaway" Chinese foods, you are two that make it FUN! Love the personalities of your mother, you both compliant one another very well! Keep up the good work, and keep sending the videos out!!🤩
I have been following you and your mum for years on TH-cam. We have created so many of your amazing recipes. Our favourite being beef chow mein. Since we found your channel we have not had a takeaway as it’s so much cheaper to make them at home. Thank you for sharing your secrets and letting everyone create authentic Chinese recipes at home.
It was brilliant right hahahah Mum is amazing and thanks for the comment, helps us loads, the algorithm loves it when people engage with the content :)
I had to come back and leave a comment. Tried your recipe and my god, it was top tier! I didn't have potato starch so used half cornstarch half normal flour and it was still better than my local. Would really like to see you guys do a home friendly version of the peeking duck as I know it's very labour intensive from the restaurants point of view
Absolutely love you guys, bought the first book and can't wait to start trying the recipes. Thank you for teaching takeaway chinese food. I've also bought a rice cooker 😂
A few days ago i had " Fried shredded beef, stir-fried with sweet chili, paprika, leek, garlic, sesame seeds & spring onion"(Copied and translated from the Menu), and it was really great. I want to cook some myself at home and come as close as possible to that same recipe as it was so good. I haven't actually tried other versions yet and couldn't possibly say that it is the "best" one out there because that would be beyond ignorant. I am learning from your video right now and will try this one in a few days and see what i think as this seems really good also. Thanks for helping us mere mortals to cook and soon eat like gods, Cheers 🙂
Been waiting a couple of years for you to show us this one. Just ordered the second book, the first one is probably the only cooking booking ive used more than 3 or 4 times, an essential must have.
This is the second crispy beef we've done :) 1st was 5 years ago, but its so old I'm sure you'd of missed it to be fair :) and thanks for commenting, it helps this video get to more viewers :)
Cooking comedy duo, I just sat and smiled the whole way through that. Love crispy beef. Nice one. Delivering great taste with the feel good factor while you do it. Thank you 👍🏼
Thanks guys, it was interesting to see you wash the beef strips, though I was expecting you to put bicarb to tenderise it. I dont think I have ever seen the strips that thick before but reading between the lines, I imagine it is your Mum's choice and you would have thinner strips. Just like you, I usually order this as a side dish, it is so yummy.
yeah, but when I did this in my takeaway, I made it thick like mum, just you could taste the beef much better, and salt water does the same as the bircab, its why people brine meat before deep frying so there is no need for the bicarb
I love crispy chilli beef and definitely gonna make this. It looks easy to do and doesnt need me to order a load of ingredients i wont use. Great, tyvm.
The Chinese takeaway near us hardly puts any beef in it’s almost like a strand of beef. It’s all batter. Love how you’ve done yours and looks delicious. Thanks for sharing.
Found your videos a few days ago and I'm hooked. Love the relationship you have together and the recipes well all I can say is I'm looking forward to trying many of them.
Hi new subscriber here. Back in the 80s, my local chip shop in Shepherds Bush sold curry spring rolls, and I was wondering if you have ever made them. Great channel BTW
That looks absolutely delicious and easy to do I've done one from your first Chinese bible cook book and that was very good too so I'm going to give this one ago over the next few days 😊,
Your beef prep has opened my eyes & changed my life! I used to wonder how Chinese takeaways got their beef so tender. Now I know. I’ve done a full silverside joint & froze it & I also do cheap steaks & they always turn out beautifully 🤤👌🏻 Thanks Chin & Choo & Lydia!
Greetings from the city of Lincoln in the East Midlands, i stumbled across your video and i have to say i'm like you my friend, i love crispy chilli beef, even if i order a set meal and it doesn't come with it i have to order it separate, i will be checking out your other videos also, i love chinese food i could happily live on it the rest of my life, i don't know why they say chinese food is unhealthy, it's all fresh and full of good healthy ingredients, keep up the good work.
Nice weekly videos is getting good, i do like winter and Ziangs video splurge :) Love Crispy Beef, our new local has Chrispy Chilli Beef, Kung Po Style Beef, and Peking Crispy Beef :) the Peking has mushrooms and courgettes in it (or very odd firm cucumber)
I literally saw this about 4 hours ago and just done cooking... OMG better than any takeaway and thats my first try. I used sirloin steak for the meat.
I've made a a similar version of this a few times but I've used fresh orange juice with a splash of orange cordial plus the other ingredients and it's always goes down a treat 😂
I love how there's so many different ways to cook this and you can take what you want from each one to suit your preference. I actually thought your mum's new catchphrase was gonna be "stick it in your mouth and Choo" lol "Cooking is deception" is gold though 😂 your mum is the best! Love her ❤ Another great video, cheers you two!
Without doubt, the best Chinese duo teaching Chinese restaurant food, I have their 1st cookbook and now, the 2nd, and can’t wait to try out their recipes. It would be nice if they showed some traditional Chinese (Asian) food, but I have Irene Kuo The Key To Chinese Cooking as my go to cookery book for that style of Chinese food. Thanks again for a brilliant channel.
Made this again tonight, along with foo young and chicken chow men from the first book and it was spot on 10 out of 10 . Also learning how to use MSFG properly is a game changer. Thank you.
Your channel was suggested to me by TH-cam, I have no clue why. I’m not good at cooking. I’m glad of the recommendation though, I’m binge watching all your videos 😂 You’re both absolutely amazing! Thank you for educating and entertaining us. Now I’m going to have to start cooking.

@@ZiangsFoodWorkshop Will do, chef. My little brother killed himself a couple of years ago. One of the things he left specifically for me was a copy of your Chinese Cooking Bible signed by you and your mum, with handwritten notes inside on the changes he made to your recipes. I'd told him about your channel and how great I think it is. Your first book is pretty precious to me now, because it's part of my memories of my brother. Keep on doing what you're doing.

Can't remember where I read it now but - cut spring onion into lengths of about 2 in/5cm. Then cross-cut several times for around 1/2in/5mm at each end and drop into a bowl of iced water. Leave it in the fridge for 10 minutes or so and the ends curl out like little umbrellas. Looks great as a garnish but really easy to do. I like easy!
