    Finally finished the speaker replacement, it all went pretty with your help. I used mdf spacers bought off eBay for the front. What I would say to anybody about to do it is take your time, I rushed the last speaker on the drivers side and mounted the spacer too low so the speaker terminals earthed through the chassis which was a bit of a bugger - though easy to fix. Also have an mtx rt8pt active sub in the back and it fits neatly to the left side providing a nice amount of thump when I want. Thanks for your help Adam.

    There are actually some proper front speaker adapters with all the clips for an ep3 and ep2, of course, but unfortunately they are only for 130mm speakers. I've bought some just to see if they can be modified to fit 6.5". Will update with results soon!
    Thanks very much for this brilliant video by the way.

    Hi,
    i was wondering where you got the fascia adapter for the head unit from?
    We bought an auto leads one and it doesn't fit. Seen on line that many people have had to trim it to make it fit. Was that the case for yours? It looks really tidy.

    • @EP3Stuff

  • @kusmierek9

    Did you use same leads PC2-818 for front and rear speakers? On ebay i can find speaker mountings (door ) with leads but they are PC2-825, so a bit confused.

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi mate. Yes I used the PC2-818 front and rear but it seems the PC2-825 are the same type of plug so should be ok. I think the 818 is a generic Honda one and the 825 is listed for the 01-06 Civic
      Good luck, thanks for the comment.

    I'm going to be changing my speakers in the next week or two. Also will be getting a new double din. I don't have much experience with car audio so I'm after abit of help, are they both coaxial speakers you put in front and rear? or are the fronts components and the rears coaxials? I've bought the 4 adaptors to change the standard speakers so just getting info before a buy new speakers and head unit. thanks

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. I used components all round but I think you can use coaxial in the front with the tweeters built into them, it's your choice really.. Double DIN head units are cool, I just have a Phillips CE153 single din, no actual CD slot but it has DAB and Bluetooth which is what I use. Cheers

    • @jamesokeefe5762
      @jamesokeefe5762 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EP3Stuff oh Really? I thought u used coaxials cause it says it on the speaker box, so I just need four 2 way components? thanks

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +James OKeefe hi mate. Sorry it was like 1.30 am when I wrote that. I meant I used coaxials. Components are for use with seperately tweeters. I suppose you could use coaxial in the front and components in the back but I don't know if it really matters!

    • @jamesokeefe5762
      @jamesokeefe5762 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +EP3Stuff haha that's no problem mate, and that's great then thanks mate il buy coaxials soon then, I just thought for some reason components are the only speakers to go on the front, but that's fine mate I'm satisfied now I just need to pick ones out 👍

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      +Gary Rivett Hi mate. I'll be honest that I've never fitted tweeters but I think you will need a set of crossovers to wire them in so the frequencys can be split properly. You can get OEM tweeter holders for the EP3 but I think they are quite rare. Good luck!

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Good stuff mate, no the back speakers should fit straight into the hole that is there for the original speakers. The back is so simple! Good luck!

  • @markb8730
    @markb8730 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I'm interested in what you said about the underseat sub. Are they quite good then? You have probably gathered it's been some time since I've fitted stereo equipment. I like the idea if the boot being unobstructed. But I bet they would be a bitch to fit? I was thinking of sticking a fairly small sub in the boot, but now you have me thinking. Decisions decisions. What has made you think of fitting one of them?

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark Bower My friend has one in his car and I was quite impressed, I don't ever move the drivers seat and it'll fit under there quite snugly. I'm not bothered about mega levels of bass, just a bit more than the standard speakers give you. No more work than one in the boot, still the same kind of wiring. Planning on doing a video.

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi mate. No sorry I don't, but if you take the door card off and check the cable is connected to the interior door handle. That's probably your issue!

  • @markb8730
    @markb8730 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hi Adam
    Thanks for your tutorial it is really useful. With a great deal of research I have finally decided to install Alpine spr 60's. I noticed when you fitted the back speakers there wasn't a great deal of space for the body of the speaker. I have looked on the alpine website and the depth of the speakers you fitted is 4 mm. The ones I want to fit are 59 mm. Basically is there enough depth in the cavity to fit them. For obvious reasons I do not want to order them if they don't.
    Because you raised them using the spacer ring on the front I would imagine they would fit fine there.
    One more thing you mentioned that the door card in the front needed trimming due to the new fitting being slightly to pronounced. What did you mean by this?
    Thanks in advance.

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mark. I seem to remember it being quite right behind the rear speakers so you may struggle with that depth. Maybe worth looking into a spacer ring just to bring them forward a bit?
      The trimming I did was just around the inside edge of the door card where the speaker grille is, there is a plastic lip that runs all the way around the speaker grill and I cut this off so the back of the door card is now flatZ
      Hope that makes sense! Good luck.

    • @markb8730
      @markb8730 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Adam
      I think I will use the ones you did in the back with the smaller magnet. And the spr 60's in the front. I want the whole exercise of fittings these things to be as pain free as possible.
      Since fitting the speakers is there a great difference in sound quality? It is difficult to tell on your video.
      Is there vibration problems in the back due to the better unit being fixed to plastic only?
      I really can not be asrsed with amps subs etc. So are you pleased with the setup you have. I'm after sound quality than volume if you know what I mean.
      Thanks again mate.

    • @markb8730
      @markb8730 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I meant to say the depth of the alpines you used were 4 mm. Sorry. Just for people that are curious

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Mark. No rattles or vibration from the back, all seems fine. I have been happy with the speakers, a definite improvement over standard. I am just about to fit a Kenwood KSC-SW11 Power sub under my seat for a bit more bass, chose that unit because it has a remote that allows you to adjust the bass without having to get back under the seat!

      +slopedog69 I put 17cm alpine type Gs in the rear, and 13cm alpine type Rs in the front. I got mdf speaker rings for the front only from liquid ice on eBay, you can get plastic ones from halfords if needed that day or eBay also. Sounds great and with a sub and amps. I would've been disappointed with the bass if I didn't have the sub mind you, although I like my bass - maybe worth going for 17cm ones if you're not getting subs and amps etc

    Would you say its a bit more bass from the stock speakers or is the difference minor?

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi mate.
      The difference is night and day, the standard speakers sounded very flat and the new speakers definitely have more bass.
      I'm planning on fitting a slimline sub under the seats for a bit more bass at some point.

    • @YianniBravoo
      @YianniBravoo 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you can out a sub tutorial up to that'd be great thanks so much gonna order these tonight

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I think I will put a sub tutorial up as soon as I can.
      Short shifter to fit first!

      +EP3Stuff hey another question im getting speakers tonight. Will that harness adapter work with just about any speaker that have those 2 prong backing terminal?

    • @EP3Stuff
      @EP3Stuff  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Ioannis Xenikakis Hi mate. Yes they will work with any speakers that have the two different sized terminals on the back! Good luck!

    I just bought a EP3, and im really happy with your guide..
    Now i immediately bought this set www.ebay.nl/itm/HONDA-CIVIC-EP3-2001-2006-FRONT-DOOR-SPEAKER-ADAPTORS-130MM-CT25HD03-PC2-825-/291333598287?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item43d4d5ec4f . So no trimming necessary. And off course 2 extra leads for the back.
    How about the depth of the speakers , is there a limit.
    So i know what to look out for, when ordering new ones.
    Did you put 16CM speakers front and back ?
    Really looking forward on the sub clip. Some extra bass always comes in handy.
    And still have a boot to use

      D.J Roberto Hi mate. That's great to hear! Welcome to the EP3 club! I did fit the same speakers front and back. Not sure on depth, but you should be OK with them fitting with those adapters.

    Hi, i am fine with everything you said with the install but is there no bracket that you can use on the front speakers where you do not have to drill holes to make it fit?
    I have been looking online and I have seen these brackets, will they fit?
    www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT25HD03-Honda-Civic-EP3-EP4-EV-EM-2000-05-Front-Door-5-Car-Speaker-Adaptors-/401062523125?fits=Car+Make%3AHonda&hash=item5d613070f5:g:ep4AAOSw--1WqfWv
    If this depends on using smaller " speakers let me know so I have a look for speakers for that size and a decent price.
    Thanks

      Those look spot on mate, deffo for smaller speakers but they look like they will fit easily!

      EP3Stuff thanks for confirming but would this require me to drill extra holes in the door frame? Also am I only able to fit 15" speakers. Sorry for all the questions I have only just got my ep3 and a speaker doesn't work so I need it fixed XD
      Thanks again
