    For anyone wanting to do this to their 8th gen -- be sure to upgrade the headunit or add an amplifier else you won't be getting the full benefit. The stock Civic headunit has a pathetic RMS output of 4x10w, so replacement units will be very underpowered and only a marginal upgrade on the stock ones. Some Civics had the 'Bassworks Factory Upgrade Amp' driving the rear speakers, but these are few and far between (rear speakers are 2ohm on the Bassworks).
    If you don't want the hassle of wiring an amp to the battery just for the speakers, you can buy an inline amplifier (eg: Vibe Powerbox 65.4) which slot between the HU and the Speakers and will give you 65w per speaker instead. This is powered off the headunit 12v line so no need to wire to a battery either - plug and play. The Vibe Powerbox also has 2x RCA outputs, so if you ever decide to add a subwoofer in the future, you don't need to tap into the rear speaker cables to get a signal.
    The Vibe Powerbox retails for around £100-150 but you can find lots of other brands out there that are cheaper. I'll be putting a video on my channel in the next few months of me installing one in a friends car, and the difference before/after with the stock speakers for anyone interested 👍🏼

      Is upgrading the head unit enough to power speakers ?

    • @BudKing96
      @BudKing96 ปีที่แล้ว

      what does upgrade the head unit mean.. the screen that shows me "radio 1" or my cd track 1 etc.. or the unit closer to me that i turn volume up n down on
      upgrade it to like a better radio like kenwood or something?

    • @RenModus
      @RenModus ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@billypearce7435 Yes, a named brand aftermarket headunit will usually push out around 30w per speaker (RMS) so will sound much better even with stock speakers

      @RenModus ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BudKing96 The headunit is the unit with your volume dial on it, and where you put CDs in.
      The display is separate and won't show any track info (etc) once you put an aftermarket one in

      I just recently upgraded the head unit on my civic to the pioneer sph-da160. Interested in upgrading the speakers now. Do i need to add an amp or will the upgraded head unit suffice? I checked the specs on the pioneer website and it says it has a "MOSFET 50 W x 4 Amplifier"

    The head unit is the absolute shite in these, drop in anything else and those ridiculous factory speakers actually can give a surprisingly decent sound!

    Cool, the right hand drive dash is way diff than my American version. About to replace all the speakers except factory sub, and add a 12" woofer and amp to the trunk , and a new head unit as my CD player took a shit.

    did this give you better sound quality? speakers in these cars are already supposed to be quite good, but if there is a noticable difference then could be worth doing this. thanks for taking time to do this video

      Yeah tbh, the ones in mine aren't great I must say.
      They're OKAY, like you can enjoy music with them (especially compared to my mini cooper S which had absolutely dog shit speakers in) but tbh they are kiiiiinda mediocre

      @@MissionKid hey buddy i think I’ve deleted the video 😞 Vibe speakers will go nice with it though thats exactly what i did. For me basically it was a choice between those and Pioneers. Pioneers are generally a little more bass in my experience but if you’re adding a sub i think that will be all u need 😊

    Replaced front doors and rear corner 6.5 speakers. I want to install dual 12s subwoofer+amp and a aftermarket HU into my 8th gen civic EX....does anyone have advice on where to get started part, websites, something. No videos online about EX model just 06-11 models in general or the SI models or coupes with no factory subwoofer. Once again 8th gen civic EX with premium audio but wanting to replace with single din aftermarket HU and dual 12s + amp.
