    After what I have seen degradation is most for the first 1-2 years with normal driving habits and after that it flattens. Pretty sure it wont have much higher degradation after some more years.

  • @epitome1986
    @epitome1986 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    a more accurate measure of degradation would have been what you got when you first got the vehicle vs what you get now. the 303 is in optimal conditions from what I hear most people get about 276 out of the 303.

      This is a great point and something I should have mentioned in the video. I picked this vehicle up September of 2021, on delivery I documented a 270 mile range at 89% charge; giving me roughly 303 miles of range.

      My y performances after 38,000 miles is 255 to 258 max at 100% and 90 percent is 225 to 232 miles. When new it maxed out at 295 miles at 100% and at around 24,000 miles it was at 274 max then Tesla did an update about 2 months later and my range tanked to where it is now. I tried the recalibration a couple of times but no cigar. I still love this car and I get where I have to go with the same number of stops when traveling from Orlando to Miami and Orlando to Atlanta Georgia. I looked at my trip computer and at 10,700 miles my wh/miles average 277 which isn’t bad and my projected range is always 20 to 30 miles higher than the battery display range when traveling in the city going below 50 miles per hour. Great review.

    @squaredawayeveryday I'm in the process for buying a 2021 Tesla Model Y Performance and the range is 276 for a 99% battery charge. This kinda freaked me out considering the car only has 16.5K miles. What are your thoughts?

  • @Orangeman47
    @Orangeman47 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    didn't you change your tire size? isn't that a consideration with expected range?

    • @squaredawayeveryday
      @squaredawayeveryday  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I did, although this would only change the real time range calculator either during a drive or referencing a previous drive. I used the macro calculator on the Home Screen, this only projects range based off of fixed EPA test data, charge habits, and battery health; not individual drive patterns. Although I should have mentioned the temp of the vehicle was roughly 72 degrees when I pulled numbers.

    Seems the data shows that if you keep it max at 80% you’ll have noticeably less loss over time. Supercharging frequency not so relevant.

    I never got 303... It was always 276 to 280.. also it depends sometimes I charge to 100% it's 280 other times 276.. now 2 years later it's still does the same thing .. last week I took a 200 mile road trip so I full charge to 100% . It's was 279...

      If everything is normal its on par with gas power trains. Every 150 to 300 thousand miles. There are people that still drive 500 thousand mile Tesla's. Id say every 10 to 15 years depending on how its driven.

      @@ChristopherSamaniego-sg6jn I bought 19 inch Gemini wheels and tires ( all season )with just 58 miles off of eBay to switch out the expensive tires on the heavy 21 inch Uber turbine wheels. The back tires wore out in 9 months at 22,000 miles and cost me 1100 bucks! I also ordered Uber turbine hubcaps that closely resembles the Uber turbine wheels from Yeslak and they are directional and will fit the Gemini wheels. Hopefully, they will help increase my range. I have seen other people with the y performance having lower wh/mile range averaging 275 wh/miles at 75 miles per hour with the Gemini wheels.

      Yes, Tesla has a warranty for battery degradation. The warranty covers the battery for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first, and guarantees that the battery will retain at least 70% of its original capacity. This means that if your battery loses more than 30% of its capacity within the warranty period, Tesla will replace it for free.

    Brant lives in Colorado. He did this test in January. The temp in Denver on average is 28F degrees or -2C then. A tesla was never going to get 303 miles of range in those conditions. I'd say your battery degradation is closer to 3-4%

      Lol, it’s Brad actually, I filmed it in February, outside temp was 60, garage temp was roughly 72. Regardless though, the internal computer calculates range based off charging habits/battery health. I wasn’t using the real time trip range calculator, just the macro calculator based on battery health.
