Amazing! "Hashimotos Thyroiditis" here. I am blown away right now... Two years in a row, my wellness appointment/labs resulted in my doctor saying, your insulin resistance level is a little high, let's watch it. I am on 125 mcg Synthroid, I am extremely overweight, I had elevated Prolactin level which led to an MRI of my pituitary gland, which showed a 3mm lesion on my pituitary gland. Thank God, a follow up MRI showed no lesion. 🙌 When I discussed diet with my doctor, she told me don't focus on a way of eating, but instead eat 1500 calories a day and walk for 30 minutes. I don't need to tell you what happened with that diet... 🤦‍♀️ LONG story short... I came across your Instagram page and then TH-cam channel and I'm learning so much. Today is day 4 on my carnivore/keto way of eating and I am down about 7 pounds. I am so thankful to have found your posts. Thank you so much!

I have discovered that doctors are telling many women that they have Hashimotos. I work in a spa and have heard that diagnosis way too much. it allows them to prescribe meds forever and make pharma money. years ago it was fibromyalsa or chronic fatigue syndrome. they do a FOR PROFIT diagnosis.

I’ve been gluten free for 3 years and reversed my hypothyroidism! Then I returned to some creeping carbs in the form of rice flour pizza &chocolate chips, aka sugar. Ugh have I spiraled downward! It’s been 48 hrs since I consumed anything besides meat butter & low carb vegetables. Cravings sucked but the worst is over. I can’t wait for depression to lift & deep sleep to return. Zero grain for life for me!

Carbohydrates have never been so abundant as today.
It also hasn't been pushed more in our diet ever in history.
We have never been sicker, fatter or dependent on pharmaceuticals either.

I started listening to his videos right after I saw him on your channel! He's awesome! I have hypo and everything he says about how that should NOT cause anyone to gain or become obese is eye-opening. I've actually had it for years and have never taken meds. I managed to get to my lowest weight without meds so I can't use my thyroid as an excuse if I happen to gain weight!

This was so eye-opening! After being HCLF plant-based for two years, I developed a growth on my thyroid and subsequently had half of it removed. No one questioned my diet. I’ve been on thyroid medication for two decades. However, it wasn’t until four and a half months ago, when I started keto-carnivore that I’ve started losing weight.

I have had hypothyroidism for almost 20 years so I will try my very best but I will not set my hopes up for it (even though it could be amazing to get of natural thyroid replacement).
Just like with the Pernicious Anaemia/Vitamin B12 deficiency - I drink 100 gram of raw liver every day and will up it to 250 gram over the months and I will give it minimum 2 years before I stop and give in with it.

Thank you !! Finally I get some answers. I asked my DR this exact question, "What can I change in my diet and lifestyle to not need Thyroid meds and to make my hypothyroidism correct itself?" I was told by several dr's that I cannot do ANYTHING about it and have to live with it. I wholly disagree. I have a biology degree (micro and biochem) and I have investigated this and knew I needed more protein and also reduce insulin (I also had adrenal fatigue which I was assessed for privately). So I'm now living a ketogenic lifestyle. My question is - should I remove my thyroid meds? I think yes, slowly and eep getting checked and also check with how I feel. The fat loss is starting to happen but it's a vicious cycle with low thyroid and eating carbs because you are addicted to them... feels almost impossible to not eat carbs when you're on carbs.

    • @terrigodfrey8260
      @terrigodfrey8260 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

After 10 years on thyroid meds (which messed with my heart) I had to get off. I went low carb, no grains or starch. I've been free of thyroid med for 5 years. A low body temperature signifies hypothyroid. I take my morning temp several times per week and it's almost always between 98 and 98.6 which means my thyroid is working fine on its own. Eating Keto helps greatly with carb addiction. Hunger is lessened.

Your discussion of negative feedback resonates with my metabolism. On my N(1) experiments I have learned that my body excels at homeostasis. One example involves my leg and foot cramps. I started taking magnesium supplements and noticed an immediate improvement in HRV stress and cramps. Then, over a few weeks, while fastidiously maintaining the magnesium dosage, the stress and cramping slowly returned. It's almost as if whatever I throw at my body, it slowly adjusts some hidden levers and returns to set point. It's frustrating, and this pattern has repeated so often that I no longer believe supplementation is of any practical effectiveness.

Thank you Dr Rob , it’s completely true in my case , these doctors mess ed up my thyroid and my health , gave me 88 mcg synthroid for 8 years , I had hashimotos , and after being on keto diet my thyroid got healed , they pushed me to take synthroid, and my blood pressure went up for one year , I had hot flash for one year and half , I was sweating repeatedly during night and they told me it was because of menopause , I got anxiety, got heart pulpitation , none of these doctors could find the reason , by watching great doctor’ TH-cam including you , I found that I was in heperthyroidism and I decided to quit synthroid meds and all of my symptoms disappeared, these stupid doctors don’t believe that with low carb diet and with great nutrient in your diet you can get healed , thank you very much for taking your time to inform us and give us knowledge 🙏🙏

@robertcywes, My docs had me on opiates for years for a back injury (Tramdol, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Percocet, Codeine, etc,) but nothing fixed my pain until I got surgery for my 2 herniated discs. I came to find out the pain meds affected all my hormones/HPT axis. My total testosterone was 45 (on a range of 150-800) my TSH was nonexistent, my prolactin was high, my shbg was almost nil. At this time I WAS NOT overweight, 5'11" and 165 pounds.
Fast forward several years, and I now take testosterone injections which make me feel better, along with HCG, and Anastrazole to control estrogen levels.
I also take Synthroid. My weight over the years increased to 245 pounds due to my sedentary lifestyle.
I was diagnosed wirh Metabolic Syndrome/Insulin Resistant. I recently switched to eating Carnivore to lose weight and improve my health.
Here's my question: I tried going off testosterone under doctor's supervision, but my body won't produce anymore naturally, so I need to take that for the rest of my life.
But what about the Synthroid? Since apparently my hormonal axis is messed up, will I need to take Synthroid for the rest of my life too? If I lose all my excess weight, and reverse my insulin resistance, will that return my thyroid function to normal? Or, since my body will no longer produce testosterone naturally, is that evidence to suggest that my thyroid gland's functio will remain impaired as well?
    :(

Wow, amazing! Thank you so much for this. I still struggle with a sugar addiction, even though I have been keto and recently more carnivore in my lifestyle. I have started to add Lugol's 2% iodine, one drop a day, because I do not care for much by way of seafood and I do not use conventional iodized salt. Your videos are encouraging. Thank you for the connection you made to the brain. When I do manage to stay away from sugar, my mind is clear, but I lack motivation. I think I turn to sugar to give me that kick of "happiness" that I feel is missing. I think I need to listen to this again and again.

Hello there, I have listened and watched a lot of long-term carnivores talk about this and how they try to get away from their cravings; eventually, as weeks and months pass, it will become easier and easier to abstain. When we were growing up, we were always handed candies and sugary treats if we were good kids or if anyone wanted to reward us. Parties, Birthday parties and gatherings were all filled with sweet cakes, cookies and treats for the young and old... It is very natural that we associate sugar/sweets with happiness and good memories. We need to learn to replace those sugary sweets and memories with more natural and beneficial ways which can improve our health as well -> it can be a walk in the park, going out with loved ones, enjoy hiking, biking, being in the nature etc... everyone needs to learn what works best for them and start making new memories without the “sweets” in them. Hope this can bd helpful. 😊👍

If you explain that part of your taking charge of your health is to reduce or eliminate the need for medication, and s/he can't get on board with how you're approaching it, regardless of the science behind it, it might be time to find a doctor who will. Good luck.

I use light brown on my eyebrows because they have greyed and my hair is brilliant Snow White. It save me buying eye brow product that I would have to use daily. I do this once a month take 5 minutes. I am female my name is screwed up and I do not know how to change it

I've been following a strict keto diet for 3 months and recently retested my thyroid because i was getting jittery on tge supplements i was taking. I quit the supps, and my test was about 2 weeks later....TSH 10.2! My T3 and T4 were within range but in the lower end, and i tested positive fir the thyroglobulin antibody. I sent these results to my functional med dr and am awaiting his report, but I'm curious what's going on. I feel fantastic!

Dr, is adding iodine ok if you have hashimotos? Somewhere I read that iodine helps your thyroid but if you have hashi you shouldn’t supplement with extra. Your thoughts? I have no energy, ever.

I was born hypothyroid and was put on levothyroxine from my first 6 months of life. Also diagnosed with t1 diabetes 5 years ago. Done keto and fasting soon after t1 diagnosis with excellent results. Sadly life went a bit screwy after a couple of years after that and i went off the rails... drank and ate too much, piled weight on and lost control of blood sugars and insulin use. I'm not in USA or covered by insurance. Any guidance you can give me here re carnivore diet that might help this please? Thank you.

Between 6 and 8 minutes in, what I'm hearing is that I may have no need for Levothyroxin. I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism about 2 years before I was pronounced diabetic. At that point I went keto then carnivore, as close to zero carb as possible for about 4 years now. When I asked about getting off of the drug, I was simply asked why I wanted to do so since it's working. Dr. Cywes is saying my thyroid is simply compensating for the Levothyroxin, am I hearing him correctly?

What about destruction of the gland from prolonged autoimmune attack? Do you think it's possible still to come off thyroid hormones in that case? And in the case of someone who has been on thryoid meds most of their life, is it really possible to come off meds after fixing insulin resistance?

How long does it take to heal insulin resistance when doing a long water fast which takes your body into Autophagy, I tried keto for 4 month, no weight loss, then I tried carnivore no weight loss, finally I tried doing intermittent fasting 16/8 18/6 still no weight loss,
Then I did an 18 day water fast finally lost 18 lbs I was in Autophagy for 10 days straight, I then started to eat for a week gained a few lbs that was expected, but started another fast for 10 days, my body seems to only loose fat when fasting,
Can you do a video on fasting and the process in which the body heals itself. Which intermittent fasting is faster to heal the metabolism,
    And body functions, thank you

**** Dr Cywes, I have a resting heart rate of 48 bpm. My blood pressure is 175/80 at that rate. After an activity my resting hr goes to 60, my blood pressure is 135/77. I am athletic; bike 30 mile rides twice a week, jog 3 miles three times a week and swim a mile once a week. Does it sound like a thyroid problem, a carb problem, because my glucose is 105 in the morning A1C 5.9. I am 66 years old. Doctors are suggesting blood pressure for me to take.

You are over taxing your adrenals with your over training. Do resistance training 2x a week, high intensity interval training 2x weekly, time restrict your eating with an 18 how non-feeding window and 6 hours for eating. Absolutely no grains, no starchy vegetables, no fruits, no juices, no alcohol, no sugar, no artificial sweeteners that disrupts your gut biome and cause your pancreas to release insulin because it senses sweetness and no seed oils used to fry foods.
Eat meat with saturated fat, fatty fish like salmon, sardines, etc. Eat eggs. Organic green leafy vegetables, cabbage, and some amount of other cruciferous vegetables. Avocados, asparagus, real butter, macadamia nuts, the list goes on.
If you have no problems with dairy use only whole milk which has some natural sugars but much better than low fat or non fat milk. Heavy cream is good and so is cheese but not low fat. Fat is your friend with the right amount of protein in it.
