I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's and hypothyroidism in 2007. Docs put me on meds and I improved, but I hated being told I would have to take the meds for the rest of my life. I started a Keto, gluten free diet 3 years ago, and was able to get rid of the Hashimoto's. Now Im doing high doses of Vit D3 with Vit K2 to get off my meds. I am down to taking my thyroid meds 2x/week now. My doctor is impressed and my labs confirm im on the right track!
When you say high doses of D3 and K2, how much are you taking? I've been taking 10k IUs of D3 for a couple of months and my numbers only moved 6 points. I just started on a liquid D3 with K2 as well as a liquid magnesium in the hopes if getting better absorption and my numbers up more quickly.
I have Hashimoto’s and have been taking levothyroxine for 25 years. 2 years ago, I decided to try keto combined with OMAD to lose weight and that worked out fantastic. I also notice many other positive results in all areas of my health. I was taking blood pressure, cholesterol lowering, you know all the standard US RX that most everyone is on today. I noticed improvements in BP, triglycerides, liver function, inflammation markers went from very high to the lowest on the scale, the list goes on. Against my Dr advice I decided to take my health into my own hands, and I stopped taking all my meds. Today a bit over 2 years my blood pressure is under 120/80 and I eat as much salt as I like. My T3, Free T4, and total T4 are all borderline normal (at the bottom of the scale but moving up) and my TSH is as expected very high (but heading down). Over the past 2 years all 4 markers are moving in the correct direction slowly. So 2 years of labs shows that my thyroid is on the recovery path. My Dr now seeing this says he no longer thinks I need to take levothyroxine he says let’s continue to monitor since this is going in the right direction. Hearing that it can take 7 years for the thyroid to recover seems like I have about 5 more years to go. But I have found that if you get your diet in check all the health related markers seem to fall in place on their own.
@@PrivateInformation-xn1mlnever say never, though! I am reversing my thyroid issues, adrenal issues, and Neuro sarcoidosis dx by changing my diet to much less carbs and sugars, much better supplements, intermittent fasting and detox. I see improvements gradually increasing and fully expect to get back off the crutches I have been on since 2008. Am so grateful for all the generous yt health agents as well as the commenters who post what works for them and info about how long it takes to heal so my expectations are more realistic, too.
Woow that gives a lot of hope to someone who has just been diagnosed with Hashimoto's I still can't believe it!! 😢 And my Dr said that there is no cure and we just have to wait until my thyroid is completely destroyed to begin a treatment FOR LIFE!! 😭 I was devastated! It's been just a few days that I know about my condition and it's very difficult for me physically and emotionally seeing this type of comments really help me a lot so thank you so much for sharing your experience 💞 I hope I can get through it too and everyone who suffering from this
The hardest part is getting this diagnosed. Most Dr's don't do complete blood panels on this and just call it good. I'm pretty sure I've had hypothyroidism for years! The best thing I can do is educate myself and tell my Dr which blood samples I want pulled. Going to try that at my next Dr's appointment.
If the doctor doesn't approve, you can also order the tests yourself. Of course insurance will not cover it at that point, but they are usually reasonable prices.
@@tradermunky1998how do you order a test for yourselves if the doc does not approve ? I believe previous chemo caused mine , but getting a doctor to believe that impossible
@@sandralrho9455 LabCorp and Quest Diagnostics, probably more out there. You simply schedule the panel, do it, and pay for it like anything else. It's not "illegal" to get tested without a doctor approval.

I learned more about my hashimotos in this video than in 12 years with my doctors. The insulin resistance is a hard pill to swallow. Time to get honest with myself if I want to heal. Thank you Dr. Berg
@@dcwatashireguardless of what you are trying to say, Dr Berg has been a God send! He has the knowledge and THATS WHAT WE ALL NEED! No “Dr” has been able to help us because they are about MEDS AND SELLING THEIR SOULS FOR $. I praise Dr Berg for all his knowledge, time and life changing help.
its not its a infection , but yes its logical it will improve , since its immune related , but for sure you got varricose veins and low blood pressure systolic like 100 to 110

He is brilliant, and a gem of a person to anyone with common sense about how to improve their health in a sustained way. I just love learning from his simple to understand videos.. A friend of mine has Hashimoto. She went gluten free and even remove dairy and improved considerably. She lost too much weight so has some dairy now but a strict gluten free diet is what made all the difference for her
I have been diagnosed with Hashimotto Hypothyroidism. Outside of my metabolism shutting down, I had no symptoms until I started synthetic medication. I cut out gluten, dairy, carbs and all processed foods. My diet consists of apple\pear sauce, vegs, eggs, meat, berries & humus daily. I eat 400-500 calories per day within a 6 hour window and can't lose any weight. If I eat more calories than I am I gain weight. I do 700 exercises a day and 900 steps on my stepper, equivalent to 90 flights of stairs. I take Synthroid meds, Vit B complex, extra B12, C, D, Zinc, Probiotic and Fiber supplements daily. My only symptoms, outside of weight, is extremely dry skin that I rub until raw, skin rashes and extreme intolerance emotions. I usually cant fall asleep until 5:00am most nights, but do get 7-8 hours of sleep a day. I can't get a family doctor here in Alberta, Canada and really need help. I am at my wits end of what to do to lose weight and stop rubbing my skin raw.

Thank you for this! It took years to get my hashimoto's diagnosis. It has then taken more years to get appropriate treatment. For being so common you would think the medical field would be more educated!
01:08 📊 Autoimmune diseases, affecting 50 million Americans, are the leading cause of chronic conditions, surpassing cancer and cardiovascular diseases combined. 02:15 🩺 Hashimoto's disease stands out as the most prevalent autoimmune condition, primarily affecting the thyroid. 04:32 🔄 Hashimoto's disease is not merely a thyroid disorder but an immune system malfunction where antibodies attack the thyroid gland, leading to chronic inflammation and potential destruction. 05:27 🚺 Hormonal fluctuations in women's lives, such as during menstruation and pregnancy, contribute to the higher prevalence of Hashimoto's disease among females. 08:37 🛑 While Hashimoto's disease can be managed to halt the immune system's attack on the thyroid, reversing tissue damage or discontinuing medication entirely is challenging due to slow thyroid tissue regeneration. 11:27 ⚡ Symptoms of Hashimoto's disease include low energy levels, difficulty regulating body weight, hormonal imbalances, and emotional instability. 16:51 🧪 Vitamin D deficiency, insulin resistance, and micronutrient deficiencies are commonly associated with Hashimoto's disease, underscoring the importance of comprehensive nutritional assessment. 21:12 🧬 Metabolomics offers a personalized approach to assessing nutrient utilization and identifying subtle deficiencies that traditional blood tests may miss, aiding in tailored treatment plans for Hashimoto's patients.

I worked out a withdrawal regime for thyroid med's...over a few months . I did this after - withdrawing myself from ( other ) prescribed meds'. So my own experience fits with this post. Then I changed my diet , quite radically. Intermittent fasting works wonders in a great many ways . You were/are on enormous value in this process Dr Berg and I thank you. Thank you both . I believe that so much of our health or its absence is caused by food and soil poisoning . These days of course there are other kinds of ' poisoning ' as well.
Dr. Berg, can you please do a video on what food and supplements or actions a person suffering from this should do and take, on top of doing the metabolic test. Thank you
This one of the top comments in the video above although I personally like eating sweet potato: Foods to avoid: 1. Cassava 2. Lima beans 3. Sorgum 4. Sweet potato 5. Flax seed 6. Cruciferous vegetables 7. Millet 8. Soy products 9. Onions 10. Gluten If you have cruciferous vegetables in very small amounts (less than five ounces), it shouldn’t be a problem. Cooking, steaming, or fermenting cruciferous vegetables also reduces their goitrogenic effect. Having sea kelp as well may also help. You would also want to avoid anything that depletes selenium, iodine, iron, and vitamin A. Good sources of selenium and iodine: • Seafood • Sea kelp • Sea salt Good sources of iron: • Red meat • Animal products Good sources of vitamin A: • Egg yolks • Butter • Cod liver oil • Beef liver
@alexialira3839 from personal experimentation, I have found that not too lean and not too fatty, as too much fat can over excrete gallbladder bile which can cause immediate expulsion from body, and too lean meat which is akin to having a rabbit diet will result in very low overall energy levels to do any physical exertion including walking up small steps. The lean protein diet helped me lose a lot of weight but at the cost of not having that much energy to do much else. The cut or portion of meat I am subscribing at the moment is silverside beef and has a top layer of fat. I have tried lamb although coupling this with resistance training, I noted that there was less strength on my part to continue at higher levels of repetition, so I have opted for beef. I do take beef organ supplements which have been freeze dried and are easy to digest and absorb, there is some distaste towards the tatste of organ meat, but the benefits are b12 and mitochondria energy related. Do note portion sizes and electrolytes and other items which I have gone back and forth experimenting with even if I have an allergic reaction to, the body does need almost small sizes of everything. Although I am very allergic to shellfish and fish, I can pallet seaweed especially in capsule powder form. I might have given a broad summary but another key note would be quality of meat from supplier. Grass fed being at the top and one can gauge the effect by the quantity to eat to feel satiated.

Last year I got really depressed, I had no energy and couldn’t stay awake I was randomly falling asleep, I’m also very overweight. I got really scared and went to the doctor. They diagnosed me with hypothyroidism and put me on medication. Now I’ve lost 50 pounds since January and I feel like a different person.
I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 42 years ago. My first symptom was weight gain without doing anything different! Now, at age 66 my weight gain has never stopped, no matter what I do. I went from 120 to 180.
A family is as your age, overweight, painful joints and knees, fatigue, doctor can't pinpoint what's wrong, only prescribed painkillers, might be having Hashimoto but lately a friend advised to drink ginger and lemon boiled together and drink it t least 3x per week, she started losing weight and can walk in short distance
Same here, 32 yrs ago was diagnosed and on levo, wjich has caused more damage and ive never lost weight on it only put on more. Ive got inflamnation everywhere, osteoarthritis in my knees due to the weight, hormone issues, kidney stones for 20 yrs. Doctors in uk treat you as one size fits all, are not bothered with testing everything and only test your tsh and t4. I believe some enviromental cause is to blame for so many people having thyroid issues and then obviously the drugs dont help as your body get more tolerance to the drugs and these drugs dont even fully treat the symptoms let alone the cause. I was in suppirt groups online both uk and american groups and even though these people are on medication, they are all still suffering. Its disgusting that doctors are now trying to pass the buck by making us believe we have fiseases when really they are all symptoms from leaky gut due to enviromental and food toxins. We litterally are being bombarded with big pharma toxic drugs that i believe are causing more harm than good. Our soil and foods sre being sprayed with chemicals, our skies are too and even tap wster with flouride in and heavy metals & toxins. Is it no wondered people are having issues. Our bodies are trying to heal us hence them telling us by the symptoms we get but mainstream docs have been trained only in pharmaceuticals not nutrition or enviromental toxins
I was told 2 years ago I had underactive thyroids and was told my only option was to have them removed. As you can imagine I was so scared and refused the treatment. Luckily they are not too bad and only slightly big on my neck but I wanted to seek a natural solution before it got worse. Dr berg was the first person I thought of and WOW what amazing advice from you both! I am looking forward to starting the journey ❤s
Thank you so much Dr. Berg and Dr. Tsoukalas..❤ Was diagnosed with Hashimoto 20 years ago. But my former family doctor said once...you look pretty good, you couldn't be that sick..😅😢 Then I changed my family doctor and was sent to an Internist, who was specialized in gland diseases. Thank God and for her, after I showed her up all of my collected symptoms for more than 10 years, a lot of blood tests, one ultrasound and thyroid scintigraphy, this wonderful doctor lady diagnosed me with this Hashimoto disease. I am so thankful for finding such a good Doc. Love ♥️ and Light 🕯Dearest greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 Sabine..⚘️🌾🌷
its mycoplasma and virus the mycoplasma eat up amino acids hypothalamus needs and cause weak endocrine function , thats why you got 100 to 110 blood pressure , and varricose veins or other connective tissue problems
I cured my Hashimoto's on a high fat carnivore gluten free diet. I have years of gluten damage so I do still need thyroid medication, but feel so much better.
@michelemcneil3652 How do you know that you cured it when you still have to take medication? If you're cured doesn't that mean that you no longer have to take medication? I would love to cure mine, and I'm still trying my best to figure all this out.
I cut out gluten and sugar and alcohol and went on a vegan diet to treat the Hashimoto’s. I still have hypothyroidism but the numbers for Hashimoto’s have improved with the diet.
Ive been on levothyroxine for 30 yrs and ive seen a decline in my health the longer ive been on this synthetic drug. Never have i felt good on this drug. I never lost weight, i am suffering with lots of inflamnation even with eating a good balance diet and cutting out certain food groups (grains, dairy). If thyroid drugs were beneficial, why are so many people still suffering. The deficiency is in the lack of these nutrients, minerals and vitamins in our foods due to chemicals and toxins. Our soils are contaminated so our food has no nutrients. We are being poisoned by land air and water
When I started levothyroxine it gave me horrible symptoms. Try researching and talking to your doctor about armour thyroid. I switched to that one and it was better for me.
Thank you for information. I suffered for 10 years being dismissed by the endocrinologist and primary care physician. I was dying a slow death until I found the right doctor who helped me.
@@AJ-jy5fv my thyroid was not working so the MD prescribed Synthroid. She also did other testing and found I had another autoimmune condition along with Hashimotos. I’ve gone on an anti inflammatory diet and it’s a process to eliminate foods that trigger inflammation and add foods that are helpful.
Wow..Dr Dimitri Tsoukalas.. I'm in Greece and I have been to his clinic 3 times..he does metabolic testing which is a much better diagnostic tool than normal serum blood tests.. great to know my favourite docs found eachother! Means I'm a n the tight track!! 🎉
Excellent interview! I respect and follow both dr Berg and dr Tsoukalas and it was great to see them talk about Hashimotos! They have both helped me a lot through my journey! Thank you and god bless you both! 🥰🥰
This is insane! It’s so common and we know so little about it. Also 90% prevalent in women is also remarkable. Thank you so much for bringing us this information. My dietician/ nutritionist brought this to my attention, that I am on my way to this disease although don’t have it as yet. But my doctor said nothing. I am now on a low carb hi fat/ketoish diet and I feel the difference in my energy. Thank you again🙏
I initially diagnosed myself. After the Graves Disease symptoms went away, I started feeling fatigued really badly. The cardiologist said the heart was fine. TSH levels were badly off. Was diagnosed with low active thyroid. Sent to an endocrinologist after getting worse and tried several different thyroid meds, and they would work for awhile and levels were off again. I remember a coworker having Hashimoto's and my symptoms were similar. Kept asking the Endocrinologists about it and she specifically said NO, it's just a low active thyroid. I watched a video on YT where the dr said if your endocrinologist is not listening to you and you have a low, active thyroid, ask your primary care doctor to do these tests. I think there were 4 or more. I was positive for Hashimoto's antibodies and, of course, a low active tbyroid. I took the results to my Endocrinologists, and all she said was well, yes, that comes with the territory. I will take all of these suggestions and discuss them with both my primary care physician and my endocrinologist, and hopefully, we can come up with a plan to get me to better health! 🙏🏽 Thanks again, everyone.
I had untreated hypothyroidism. Then had a Thyroid Storm, was on block and treat, endo said it was Graves. Went into remission for years. Now, hypothyroidism. Levo makes me feel bad. So I dont take it. Saw dr. Ken Berrys wife, healed herself with carnivore and iodine.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's EIGHT years after symptoms started. Multiple visits to the doc resulted in only ONE test for vitamin D which of course was low at 20. Doc couldn't figure out what tests to run for my complaints of fatigue, brain fog, new daily onset headaches and muscle stiffness and pain. Now that I've been diagnosed and on meds, I feel worse than I did before being diagnosed. Doctors think normalizing TSH is the only thing that needs to be done and the symptoms must be in my head. The medical community to date has been an impediment to my treatment and recovery. How can so many doctor's be so ignorant after going through six years of medical school?

I personally find if I notice swelling or fluid retention I either need vit D3 or my B vitamins. I personally have Lyme and ms. So if it’s D3, I personally need 40 000iUs of D3 with 600 mcg K2. (I have a resistance D3. That means regardless to what my bloodwork says I need a lot more. The good news is as long as you take K2 100 MCG for every 10,000 IUs of vitamin D3, there are no overdose side effects. D3 is a fat soluble vitamin, so I will also need vit E, flax or omega 3.
I know your guest was limited in his time, but my "appetite was only whetted" by this discussion. Although I do not have Hashimoto's, I found the topic fascinating. Great job, gentlemen! 👏👏👏
I can't believe he didn't talk about gut health. A lot of ppl with hypo and Hashimoto have gut health issues like IBS, SIBO, leaky gut and deficiencies are also related to those issues. When the gut health is optimized, the thyroid health is getting better.
he just dont know , but i do its a infection of mycoplasma and virus , it cause endocrine problems and low blood pressure that why blood pressure will be 100 to 110 systolic and people will have varricose veins and low stomach acid leading to fungi overgrowth sifo and leeky gut there you go
Hashimoto’s usually causes those issues, not the other way around. Also, he did talk about those things at 17:48. You cannot significantly improve gut health without having your thyroid hormones at optimal levels first.
I agree! My Hashimoto’s is caused by my leaky gut and gut infections like candida and mold.. I’m working on my gut and avoiding my personal food sensitivities and it makes a HUGE difference.
@@LittleCreek30 Unfortunately it’s a vicious cycle. Those critters were only able to grow because Hashimoto’s slows the MMC. In a healthy person with a normal MMC, an overgrowth like that is unlikely to happen. The critters caused the leaky gut, which further intensifies the Hashimoto’s (and all other autoimmune diseases). The issue needs to be addressed from both sides to stop the cycle. I’m glad you’re seeing improvements!
Really appreciate this interview. I'm a 52 year old guy that was diagnosed with Hashimoto's along with vitamin D and B12 deficiencies a year ago. The doctor never told me to start supplementing vitamin D3 w/ K2 and B12 . When I asked about changing my diet and the possibility of slowing down or stopping the progression he told me no to both. All he told me that I could do is stop eating dashi and other forms of seaweed (I live in Japan).
Oh my goodness, I’ve been waiting almost my whole life for this Information. Finding a specialist in the field of endocrinology is so difficult. This video has set in stone what I need to do now. At 71 allot cannot be turned around, but At least now I have some answers, and what answers I don’t have I will address at Vanderbilt Univ. medical center! Thank you Dr Berg and your Dr as well.
I use a brilliant functional doctor who treats my type 1 diabetes and hashimotos. A1C is low 5’s and thyroid hormones fluctuate, but recover rapidly. I have been gluten, dairy except white cheese, and grain free for years, eating keto and carnivore, along with intermittent fasting. My functional doctor wanted me to have an endocrinologist on board, but said, ‘dont let him treat your thyroid’. Told him there were zero good endocrinologists in our town and he agreed, so he opened his iPad, did a search, and put his finger on one. The visit was disastrous, I didn’t go back and the report he sent to my functional doctor was scathing. The report said things I never said and made me out to look reckless because I intermittent fast, keep a low A1C. At the time, was testing a common T4 medication along with a t3 medication. The T4 medication gave me occasional heart palpitations and I stopped taking it and went back to my Armor. This endocrinologist again thought I was reckless doing this without my doctors ‘orders’. It is I who research and ask my doctor to allow me to test various combinations and as long as the dose is equivalent, he goes along with it. We also test often. Not every medication works the same on every person and sometimes with Hashimotos, you need to rotate medications that you know work for your system. Good luck finding a good endocrinologist- the two I have gone to know less than I do, and I am a layperson. Diet is never mentioned.
I have Hashimoto's and I have a quarterly blood test to check my thyroid numbers. I will most definitely ask my doctor about that test. Thank you so much...phenomenal information!!!
I highly recommend getting tested for your personal food sensitivities because everyone is different. For example I can’t eat coconut although it’s very good for us! I have leaky gut which made me get these sensitivities to certain foods. I need to heal my gut then I can add these foods back in.
Thank you for this video! I was never diagnosed until they had to remove my thyroid due to an enlarged cyst (goiter?) and presurgery tests showed that my thyroid looked like a lace curtain. Hashimoto’s had destroyed a thyroid that was still functioning despite the goiter that was interrupting my swallowing. Since then I’m experiencing all the symptoms mentioned in this video despite all the adjustments I’ve tried with my meds. I’m definitely becoming a new patient with Dr. Tsoukalas. I’ll be happy to report back 😊
I have Hashiimoto's since I was in my mid 20's. I suffered until my early 40's when I studied and was able to convince my endocrinologist to add liothyronine in addition to levothyroxine. I lived in cloud for 20 years (tired, not being able to concentrate, depression, etc) and my doctors didn't know or understand at the time what I was describing to them. When I was at my wits end, I saw a neurologist who prescribed Provigil because I was so close to being diagnosed to narcolepsy after doing the sleep study. Anyway, adding that little bit of liothyronine helped me get my life back.
Liothyronine is a godsend... I'm hypothyroid and my Thyroid gland is atrophied and basically non- functioning, suppressing my TSH level 0.89 took care of my depression.
@Dr. Eric Berg DC In 2005, I was diagnosed with diabetes. I had an excellent doctor, and with his help, I followed his plan to get better. In 2012, I came off of Metformin, and now I'm pre-diabetic. In 2012, I was diagnosed with Graves Disease, and my doctor did not remove my thyroid but killed it with the radiation pill. It didn't work, and I ended up with a tiny thyroid. In 2018, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. The symptoms with it are practically unbearable. The fatigue alone is horrible! The joint, bone, and muscle pain is terrible. There are no Endocrinologists where I live. I have to travel 2 hours to see her who mainly focuses on diabetes. I can't even begin to describe this horrible journey, including the weight gain.😢
I'm so sorry you are going through this. If you don't have any ethical objections perhaps consider trying a carnivore elimination diet for 30-90 days to see if that gives you some relief. Dr. Berg and other doctors on YT have some great videos on how to use diet as a healing nutritional tool though I know many who have had such positive results that they've stayed with it, myself included.
@ellieb2914 Thank you for your response. Since the removal of my gallbladder 3 years ago, I have a hard time with digesting certain foods. Red meats is one of them, but I'll give it a try. I am on a gluten free lifestyle change (diet, lol).
Someone here on YT, said that she resolved her thyroid issues with 1 or 2 Brazilnut a day and that it corrects both hyper or hypo because of the selenium in it. You can research this. Also too much selenium can be damaging if it's overdone, so keep this in mind.
Same here, thyroid removed surgically and treated with radioactive ☢️ iodine! Suffering with years of cancers, pain, many conditions, endocrinologists say my bloodwork TSH is normal! I give up!! 😢
@junesmith1570 I'm so sorry to hear that!!! The radioactive iodine pill I took, I was allergic to. I'm highly allergic to shellfish, especially shrimp. I was afraid to take that pill to destroy the thyroid; however, my doctor said it wasn't enough to hurt me. About 30 minutes later, I started itching and developed hives, and by the time I made it back to radiology, my throat was swelling. Was given a shot and IV fluids. Imagine living 2 hours away how our drive back home would have been, but I hadn't left the hospital. 2 days later, the fatigue set in. I didn't think I would live through the night.
Excellent interview and information. Thank you for bringing more attention to this disease. So many people are unaware it's causing their symptoms, and are unaware there is much that can be done to support it.
I was diagnosed 20+ years ago. It was after a severe emotional trauma. I've been using natural thyroid for over 15 years. I've altered my diet to ketovore and hope to improve my symptoms.
It's hard to unsee the link between gluten, carbs, poisons used to grow GMO agricultural products and metabolic health once you've seen it and felt it after removing all those foods from your diet.
@@ellieb2914 Cool, let me know how it goes. I just saw it on another TH-cam channel but haven't done it myself. Certainly something I am contemplating just to see. The guy and his wife that got tested had high levels (top 5% of population) and were very surprised.
I have been hypothyroid for 12 years. No one ever told me any details or causes. I asked my new doctor for a thorough thyroid panel to get to the root cause. Hoping I don't have hashimoto's. I had hoped to be able to get off my medication and just try to supplement with iodine, selenium, magnesium, vitamin d etc. not feeling as hopeful but this video was very educational!

I'll pass this interview to my friend as she has the thyroid issues mentioned here. Her thyroid was removed a few years ago but it hasn't treated her health issues.
Thank you Dr. Berg for this very helpful and informative video! 👏❤️ As one who suffers from Hashimoto’s, I wish my doctor would have communicated all of this to me when I was diagnosed. I was very deficient in vitamin D for years before my diagnosis and….was going thru menopause and fluctuating hormones as well. I have a very good doctor helping me with my treatment. But it’s up to me to greatly improve my diet and keep my antibody numbers low. I will definitely pass this video and information onto family and friends who may be suffering with this condition.
The keto diet was hurting my T3 conversion and also raising Reverse T3. Low carb diets especially in women, can cause hypothyroidism. Fasting can also be problematic as it raises stress hormones which lower T3 production and increase RT3. We have to understand that men and women have different physiological needs and also this varies individually. One can experiment with using body temperature as an indicator for metabolic function. We want to have a high metabolism, which means high electron transport activity, so this will show up in a higher body temperature and a higher resting pulse rate. Both should rise throughout the day and fall slightly before bed. A lot of nutritional deficiencies resolve when the metabolic rate is higher as this increases the flow of nutrient carrying blood through the body more rapidly and also reaches deeper into the tissues- when the heart rate is up and the temp is up. Warm tissue creates better blood flow, so staying warm by eating warming foods and regular movement will help raise the metabolic rate. Also avoiding PUFAs (Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids) is paramount to increasing the metabolic rate. PUFAs basically clog the electron transport chain and are most likely a culprit in the rise of metabolic function disorders in the US and other developed nations. Think of the electrons as little pieces of raw energy and the transport chain is like the train that brings the energy to all of our cells. This is so your mitochondria can make their little energy packets (ATP). You want this train to keep moving and you want it to have an inner momentum. Without movement in the chain, life ceases! You need carbs without the PUFAs to keep the chain moving efficiently, things like fruit, honey, maple syrup, and juices fuel the chain rapidly, conventional grains do not. If you are metabolically dysfunctional consuming the easily digestible carbs will not help increase your metabolic rate. First one has to detox the PUFAs accumulation which are clogging the cells ability to accept electrons. You can do this with increasing traditionally raised saturated animal fats along with tocotrienols while avoiding or at least minimizing PUFA consumption. I would say contact your medical professional for help with this protocol, but as of this date I do not know of any "professional" who completely understands our metabolic processes. You will have to do your due diligence and connect the dots with published scientific research along with consorting with people who are familiar with the work of those such as the late Dr. Ray Peat.

I have Hashimotos and I’ve been suffering from severe symptoms again and was just told that my labs are “normal”. by my primary care physician. I’m feeling so discouraged as I just still feel so very off. I’ve been on this journey for over 12 years.
Thank you so much and so much Doctor Berg and your guest. I have thought that we can't find a second dr like Dr Berg in you Tube. Dr Berg is always trying to solve our problems and educating everyone in the good health ❤❤❤❤❤
I got diagnosed hypo about 6yrs ago. No antibodies for Hashi- I think I caught it just in time. Been Keto/Carnivore for the past 5yrs. Lost 20+ lbs once I got my hormones & thyroid levels optimized. Now starting to reduce those medication levels slowly.
Diagnosed with hypothyroidism and then while going through Covid I was diagnosed with Hashimoto. The test is 1300 high but he’s the only one that actually understands the diagnosis. I’m doing it.
I had a total Thyroidectomy 20 plus years ago due to oversized goiter. I have suffered many of years with this disease, I have to take medicine to live there’s no reverse or going off. Armour has been a blessing for me. I would like more for thyroidectomy people. There’s not enough educated doctors for thyroids.
My autoimmune issues kicked in after being pregnant. In the post partum period everything changed. Hashimotos is just one of the conditions I developed. As it turns out it's been the one that's bothered me least of all over the decades. I just take the medication and never give it a second thought!
Thank you Dr Berg for having this discussion. One thing that I have thought about that maybe overlooked and another reason that women are higher in hypothyroidism is we wear facial make-up with a lot of chemicals in them. All of the lymphatic system in the face drains into the neck and the neck lymph nodes drain into the underarm lymph nodes. Its never one thing in the body its a combination of factors that contribute to our health. Its good to take everything into consideration. My Dr said my thyroid numbers were low. She threatened to put me on Synthroid. I said that I would try supplements first. I supplemented with iodine with kelp and selenium and my thyroid numbers were normal in 6 weeks. My Dr. was shocked and pleased.
Oh, I believe you are so correct about the chems in makeup. Its the diet too. I had a sore armpit for a couple of months. I tried hot packs every couple of hours for two days (also I am on 24 mg Tri iodine/2 brazil nuts) as I figured the lymph glands in my armpit were plugged- yup! All relieved.
Perhaps for later life emergence and diagnosis, but there are many who have had it nearly their entire life. I was diagnosed as a kid, and never one for make up. Selenium is great for thyroid as we tend to be depleted with low functioning thyroid. Added iodine/kelp (among other foods) can exacerbate the issue. Depends on hypo versus hashi. Glad your numbers are good. Not a one fits all scenario at all.
@@ty8473 Hello I am still taking both supplements. The iodine with kelp is a liquid. One dropper per day is 150mg of iodine and 2mg of kelp. I also take 100mg of Selenium it's in a tablet. I hope that helps you.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's disease when I was young. The symptoms may have been mainly emotional. Subsequently, 20 years ago, knots began to be built. Since these nodules are essentially hematomas, I started to apply ointments against hematomas externally. By using Ibobrufen Gel the size of the nodules are reduced and I keep them with this Ibobrufen cream application controlled.
Gluten and gut health play a major part towards a diagnosis of Hashi's also peeps.. Removal of your thyroid should be a heck NO as well!! Also, highly recommend seeing a naturopath, who diagnosed me nearly straight away, who were also able to request blood lab work. No medical practitioners x 3 were able to diagnose my symptoms at all.. only KNOW how to prescribe an anti depressant, which one tried to do so, I thought I WAS dying... symptoms were THAT bad for weeks on end. Diet elimination and the CORRECT blood test to conduct was the only way. GP's/docs do NOT know about nutrition either, which is yet ANOTHER thing that goes against anyone who is silently suffering with these AI conditions... Great content as usual Dr B.
not bad but i have cured hashimoto several times . its the easyest auto immune , and its a infection of mycoplasma and vir us you can see all auto immune got low systolic pressure , its because of mycoplasma eating tryptophan and other aminoacids
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is debilitating me currently after 35 years of suffering-anxiety and depression and unable to get regulated. It’s a nightmare!! Suffering immensely-torture
Thank you for another great interview / informative session and topic! I've recently discovered I've got the TPO/TG antibodies though at the moment my thyroid function is adequate and I've not experience symptoms (therefore haven't needed to head down the thyroid hormone replacement route). It was Dr. George Papanicolaou who got me thinking 'this is an autoimmune condition which happens to be targetting the thyroid' which opens up an entirely different route to treatment. I've moved fully onto the carnivore diet, having removed all ultra processed foods for the most part years ago, and now fully disposed of seed oils etc for well over a year. I'm practicing time restricted eating 18:6 daily and have introduced longer fasts to further encourage my body to heal itself. There's such a correlation between the SAD (insert American, Australian, Anglo) and these conditions.

I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism with goiters. They removed most of it but saved 1/4 of it. That rapidly grew and doubled in size but I don't want it removed. I regret removing what I did but I was young and didn't know better.
@@CatsMeow2.0-gr8gr Let me clarify for you. I can see how my previous post can be misunderstood. They removed the goiter but they also removed most of my thyroid. They save 1/4 of my right side thyroid. My thyroid had doubled in size. Maybe from having to overwork. I have naturally balanced my hormones over the last few years and it has shrunk to normal size. The body's ability to heal is amazing. Most hyperthyroidism is misdiagnosed. I wish I knew then, what I know now. SO Grateful for homeopathic doctors and naturopathy 🙏🏼💗
I'm suffering big time I'm starting keto completely tmrw I have heard a lot about it but the last year or so but am just now making the decision to do it. I just don't have a lot of money but I'm gonna do my best
My labs turned around and my doctor said he's never seen it. OK but how did that happen tho? It's crazy.
I'm so happy for you! im on the same path!
Wow, that's awesome!
Congratulations we need to take control of our health most Doctors just push medication on us.

The generic form of Synthroid does not work for me at all. Perhaps you could try taking Synthroid. I hope this helps.

This one of the top comments in the video above although I personally like eating sweet potato:
Foods to avoid:
1. Cassava
2. Lima beans
3. Sorgum
4. Sweet potato
5. Flax seed
6. Cruciferous vegetables
7. Millet
8. Soy products
9. Onions
10. Gluten
If you have cruciferous vegetables in very small amounts (less than five ounces), it shouldn’t be a problem.
Cooking, steaming, or fermenting cruciferous vegetables also reduces their goitrogenic effect. Having sea kelp as well may also help.
You would also want to avoid anything that depletes selenium, iodine, iron, and vitamin A.
Good sources of selenium and iodine:
• Seafood
• Sea kelp
• Sea salt
Good sources of iron:
• Red meat
• Animal products
Good sources of vitamin A:
• Egg yolks
• Butter
• Cod liver oil
• Beef liver
@denvernaicker8250 thanks!! Question...what kind of red meat? Lean? Some fat? Fatty?

I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s 6 months ago. I am so exhausted all the time, in my early 30’s. Loved this video! Fantastic insight. 🤘
Thank you for information. I suffered for 10 years being dismissed by the endocrinologist and primary care physician. I was dying a slow death until I found the right doctor who helped me.
No problem. Glad to share this video. Wishing you good health.
Hi, glad to know you are better.. can you share what was the correct treatment
Where is his clinic ? Athens ?
Is he based in Athens ? It’s amazing that two great doctors know each other !
Are you only taking a t4 medication? You might need t3 also if you feel horrid.
Because the medical education is corrupted my Pharma which has as an objective keeping clients for life.
@@brandi6591Thanks Brandi. I'm already on Armour which definitely is better than levo but still not good..

20:30 “Hoshimoto” is when microchondial dysfunc functioning at 50% causes thyroid to over work.
Amazing thank you are you a healthcare provider?
Micro chondrial? Do you mean mitochondrial?
Well...I definitely have Hashimotos but current Vit D level is 85...
What I do seem to struggle with is B vitamins.
You rock. Thank you
I was at the doctor today to discuss my thyroid... Been dix for 15 years and nothings worked for it. Perfect timing with this. Thank you so much
My wife has this. I thought this was a very rare disorder. This was very eye opening 😳
It was until the co vid vaccine. It is a side effect and now it is becoming very common.
nope not rare at all. loads of women have it but on differing scales. men have it too of course but mainly women.
When the gut health is optimized, the thyroid health is getting better.
he just dont know , but i do its a infection of mycoplasma and virus , it cause endocrine problems and low blood pressure that why blood pressure will be 100 to 110 systolic and people will have varricose veins and low stomach acid leading to fungi overgrowth sifo and leeky gut there you go
Exactly!
I've had hashimotos for 17 years and it has been a serious battle
What problems did you face?
You are very welcome, so glad you found this information useful. Keep us posted with your progress.

Can you please make a video about what diet can help and how he reversed inflammation, and the attack on the thyroid from the immune system ?
Very valuable.
My former doctor recommended the Mediterranean diet alongside gluten free foods.

I highly recommend getting tested for your personal food sensitivities because everyone is different. For example I can’t eat coconut although it’s very good for us! I have leaky gut which made me get these sensitivities to certain foods. I need to heal my gut then I can add these foods back in.
@MSRgoogle one doctor told me to cut gluten and take probiotics. His mom did that and she doesn't have any issues anymore so ....

So glad this is helpful. Keep up the good work.
What does high mpv to do with hashimoto’s because i have both
Thank you for this video!

That’s awesome. What dose of liothyronine are you on? I’ve been on it as well for my Hashis but losing a lot of hair and wanted to get off for a bit.
@@zassy4778 I'm on 10mcg.daily.
Liothyronine is a godsend...
I'm hypothyroid and my Thyroid gland is atrophied and basically non- functioning, suppressing my TSH level 0.89 took care of my depression.
I am so grateful for this interview, it clears up so much for me. Thank you Dr BERG and DR Dimitris 👏
Extremely insightful, informative, and educating!
Thanks to both of these amazing
Doctors!

So many diseases appear to link back to mitochondria dysfunction. Which are destroyed by high carbohydrate use over time.
Pesticides in food and water especially glyphosates..
It's hard to unsee the link between gluten, carbs, poisons used to grow GMO agricultural products and metabolic health once you've seen it and felt it after removing all those foods from your diet.
Good points. I saw the other day there is now a glyphosate test to see how much is floating around in one's system.
@@tradermunky1998 I did not know that! My husband just did a 24 hr urine test. I wish I had known. We'll get it added to the next one. Thanks!

I have been hypothyroid for 12 years. No one ever told me any details or causes. I asked my new doctor for a thorough thyroid panel to get to the root cause. Hoping I don't have hashimoto's. Go 100% gluten free. Most people with hashimotos have undiagnosed celiac or gluten sensitivity. My TSH was 58 with very high antibodies.
Thank goodness for transcript.
Ray Peat.
Thank you 🙏
The mitochondria information just blew my mind!!! 🤯🤯🤯 I wish I could send this video to my doctor.

Thank you so much Dr Berg and dr Tsoukalas ! Appreciate your journey to educate about our body function.
My autoimmune issues kicked in after being pregnant. In the post partum period everything changed. Hashimotos is just one of the conditions I developed. As it turns out it's been the one that's bothered me least of all over the decades. I just take the medication and never give it a second thought!
Same here. Hashimotos diagnosed after my third pregnancy. Took years to get the diagnosis though. They kept saying it was post natal depression!
Main reasons are these: makeup, worst diet, antiperspirants, Fluoride (in toothpaste)
How much iodine were you taking?
Great content as usual Dr B.
not bad but i have cured hashimoto several times . its the easyest auto immune , and its a infection of mycoplasma and vir us you can see all auto immune got low systolic pressure , its because of mycoplasma eating tryptophan and other aminoacids
even your armpit temeperature is low it shows slow metabolism like 35.5 or so or so when normal is 36,5 or so
Please do a come back on wat are the alternative treatments for this please 🙏 thank you to both of you
Hashimoto’s thyroiditis is debilitating me currently after 35 years of suffering-anxiety and depression and unable to get regulated.
