From what i understand AND have experienced, the discovery of the TSH and ability to measure it, has caused doctors to stop diagnosing by symptoms. I had ALL of the symptoms of hypo and it was bad. My eyebrows shrank to 1/2 their length, my colon was "absolutely packed with faeces" according to an xray my dr did, I was COLD my heart rate was sluggish. And as you said, he did a tsh and said it was in the normal range...I think at the time it was around 3. Fortunately I had done my research and asked for a thyroid antibody test and it was "low positive" and he still insisted my tsh was normal. I said no, please prescribe synthroid because I am NOT normal. I was shortly up to 88 mcg and finally felt normal again. That was easily 7 years ago, in the last couple of years I've been adding a drop of iodine to my daily selenium supplement. Hopefully that's not bad.
Iodine supplementation requires TSH to rise to make sodium symporter needed to move iodine into cell..... so TSH not good marker. Also cortisol is naturally higher in AM and it could interfere with T4 to T3 conversion... I finally figured this out after 2 years! Now I take T3 only in AM, then take NP THYROID (T4 +T3) in afternoon.... finally, it seems to work. Plus I put lugol's in my water.... just enough
Whew, Georgia makes me think of Savannah where they're building Plutonium Pits for the new generation nuclear weapons President Obama called for, besides New Mexico. Makes me postulate about that 34 antibody sigma number.
I an very curious what is your opinion on Lugol’s solution (to apply topicaly)? I do a drop every day until my skin stops absorbing it and then stop for a while. (I don’t have any condition) Thanks
I'm a male who was diagnosed with Graves disease in my mid-30s. No matter the dosage of methimazole my T3 and T4 hormones were off the charts and wouldn't come down. I developed severe psoriasis and I felt like I was having a heart attack every time I did anything that required exertion. Then my endocrinologist changed my diet and asked me to avoid carbs and replace the calories with organic meat and veggies. I did as she asked and within a few weeks I felt like a different person. Within a few months I was completely off medications.

My grandma died at 90, no sickness, she just slept and didnt wake up the next day. She always use woods when cooking, no rice cooker, non sticky pan etc. She used clay pots too when cooking and she stores her water in a big clay jar and she used her own backyard to plant veggies and fruits. I remembered my grandma when she told me that I am eating chemically produced food but I was young at that time so i didnt mind it. Now i have thyroid issues too.
I was on pills for years, I got tired of taking them and listening to doctors, i took matters into my own hands. I went on a juice fast, cleaned out my body, then on a plant based, no processed foods. Went back to the doctor and my tests were perfect, no more pills. I have stayed on a plant based diet without processed foods and have never needed pills again, this has been 10 years .
I went to an endocrinologist for my Hashimotos thyroiditis, he said " there is nothing I can do for you", Wow, why did he even let me make the appt and drive over an hr to get there. Sure glad I found this caring dr. to explain this to us.
at LEAST he ADMITTED it! Normally they PRETEND they know what they're doing and PRACTICE on you! THIS doc KNOWS what he's talking about! SO GLAD I found him (just wish it were about 35yrs sooner!)
I experienced the same thing. Then I found a wonderful endocrinologist that’s caring for my Hashimotos diagnosis and this nodule that I’d like to get rid of. All these years, my thyroid numbers are still within range except the TPO antibodies. So according to this video, keto would be the way to go I guess.
So i just got diagnosed with Graves few days ago. I’m a 30 yr old female. Specialist put me on meds right away even though i asked him if i changed my diet would it help he said absolutely not! Reading some of these comments have given me soooo much hope!
Taking the meds means you are killing your thyroid forever. You will never be able to heal your thyroid if you take any meds. I cured mine with iodine and liver detox. Fasting. Once you heal your liver the blood gets purified and that breaks the gland in your brain which fixes your thyroid.
I complained to my doctor (internist) about feeling tired all the time and asked him to check my thyroid and all he did was get the lab to check my TSH, which was normal. Later, I decided to go to a wellness clinic, where they did a full thyroid panel and discovered that my reverse T3 was high. Ask your doctor to do a full thyroid panel.
You need the specialist, endocrine doctor. Family doctors know little to nothing about it, but try to keep you to get the co pay, they many times avoid sending you to specialists which can be dangerous or worse at times, then your on,y recourse when getting worse ends up in a hospital. And get second opinions, different endocrine doctors treat differently, and much depends how you feel, if you feel ok they do nothing, rightfully so. But loosing or gaining weight, mood and sleep changes, and the like, have to be addressed. Not waited on.
This was so much great information. My husband has been suffering with goiter for a year now, he throat has been swollen for 6 months and an extra baseball size one appeared 3 weeks ago out of no where and our family doc could not even give us any proper diagnosis or help and i kept pointing out it was his thyroid. He missed diagnosis him 4 times already and that has caused his health to worsen. 2 days ago our daughter stressed that dad needs to go to emergency because he is always sick and can't breathe properly. My husband finally went to the hospital and we got the right diagnosis. I must say I am happy with the information I have found. Thanks.
Thank you so much I have been going crazy for years and dr's are not listening and don't do these blood tests, even when I have asked I get told all fine. I'm in UK. I look forward to getting these tests you said and then talk with Dr as I'm talking loads of tablets mouth sprays and gels and eye drops and I am now blind in one eye and right eye loosing sight as well. I am so very blessed and grateful and appreciative of your hard work showing us we can be healed not suffering indoors all time and awake a few hours a day. Love Bernadette west Yorkshire UK thank you so much xox
Wow! You are a dream doctor, mr Ekberg! I have a thyroid problem but nobody can diagnose what it is. Unfortunately, I am in Brazil, otherwise I would certainly pay you a visit. I watch all your videos but I have never watched this one. You are a light in the darkness of medicine! Be happy and healthy ❤🙏🏻
Getting selenium from eating Brazil nuts would be good for you. Hopefully you can find some where you live, LOL. Best of luck. Also, if you're able to get Korean kimchi where you're at, it is very good for the stomach biome. Any fermented vegetable is very good for you and kimchi has the natural good bacterias for healthy digestion. Usually kimchi has garlic in it too which is very healthy for you.
in Brazil there are many good doctors in the main cities; even they can treat you better than in the USA. and run more tests and everything; have a look.
@@littlebear7440- I have researched extensively and long. Dr Ekberg is one of the best in the world for his deep understanding about the relationship between food and health. The majority of doctors will "treat" you with allopathic medicine, which in sum, is the oil medicine introduced my Rockefeller at the beginning of the xx century. I've already cured myself from adenocarcinoma stage by quitting chemo, cutting sugar, increasing fiber and promoting gut bioma + supplements, because our food lacks os proper nutrients. Work on your peace of mind. Negative emotions are the open door for diseases. I've been diagnosed with multi nodular non-toxic thyroid. Brazilian doctors are not different from other good doctors around the world. The problem come from their training in treating symptoms instead finding the real cause of the symptoms. There is much more to say about it but I think I've said the basic approach I take. Thank you very much for your kind reply! Take care and be happy 💜🙏
Doc, so far you have been the most articulate in explaining the variables in thyroid ailments. I've suffered sorness in my neck and went to the doctor and explained my symptoms of all that you've mentioned . Blood work was done. Biopsy of my thyroid was done and all was normal. Endocrinologist simply told me "well we can remove the thyroid and you'll be on meds for the rest of your life". I'm still living with the condition. But, now I know what to say to the doctors. Thank you.
I got diagnosed with graves disease 6 years ago. I still am currently stuggling. I refuse to take my thyroid gland out. Im now trying to treat it naturally. I am taking bugleweed extract and lemon balm tea. Most of the information i see out there is about hypothyroidism. I would love to see an informative video like this, specifically about hyperthyroidism. I think it will help many us.
Same. I struggle with the same thing. It’s really eatting up my life. My doctor tried to tell me to take my thyroid out and I refuse. Medication was starting to make me feel sick and I’m not taking it anymore. I wish there was a better way to treat
@Tenni Shoe yes, you're correct. It can be life threatening if some one with graves goes into a storm. All the more the reason why people should put out information.
First complete and clear explanation seen/heard in 20 odd years! Thanks. I wish all physicians could be as well informed......would save us patients being dragged through countless hit and miss scenarios and wasting time.
I Agree. I need my toe looked at. First they want me to do colonoscamy, an EKG, a mammogram, Ultra sound, blood panel. LOOK AT MY TOE! I am older, so I am now a cash cow. There is nothing , can be done for getting older. Feces checked, urine test. Look at my toe!
My GP tells me that they have to follow the NHS guidelines, so diet advice. These kind of videos and some books have helped me to get my levothyroxin prescription down from 175mcg to 100mcg in 2019. Now again trying to get it down gradually until remission, hopefully within 12 months. My tsh readings have been going down in the last 9 months. In UK, tsh has to be less than 0.21. Last time it was 0.91, before that 2.25 and higher before than. So it is very slow process even with a right diet and the right supplements. I shall know within 2 weeks if there is a reduction in my levothyroxin prescription.
MDs have to follow the set guidelines that the AMA and hospitals enforce. They follow like sheep and get their paycheck. We all must take our health into our own hands and we are so fortunate to have practioners like Dr. Ekberg helping us find the truth and the solutions!
This wonderful man is a walking human anatomy & physiology book! I just admire and appreciate him so much! I discovered him quite by accident, and thanks to him, I am eating so much healthier and am aging in a very youthful and active manner. Thanks, Doc!
ME TOO!! JUST 'accidentally' found him TODAY after searching 35 years to find a thyroid doc who knows at LEAST as much as I do so I can STOP TRYING to doctor myself!
Thanks! This was an incredibly useful video. I've just received my annual labs, which I had 'expanded' to include the 'Common Sense Labs' highlighted by Dr Berry. My TSH has been elevated, though high then lower (but still high) but T4 not bad. This time we went for TSH/T4/T3/TPO/Tg and bam! TPO is 246, TG >1000 (yes, 1000). So I guess I'm a member of the Hashimoto's club! I feel great - particularly since doing 18:6 TRE ~1 year, NO UPF, mainly LCHF with quality products. We live on acreage and are early retirees, so low stress, good amounts of exercise. I have also lost those 'post menopause' kgs and am at an ideal weight. So I FEEL great. All other labs in range, most in optimal range. BUT, that's not good enough! Knowing my immune system is attacking my thyroid, I'm going to introduce more changes to my diet. First (one per month rather than all at once) ... booze - my daily wine is now the first to go. From your video, I think this will influence a large number of organs etc., positively. Then we'll retest, and I'll look at allergens, dairy etc. if necessary. Slowly slowly I'm going to catch this monkey!! Dr. Ekberg, thank you for being so thorough. x
Me again -- March 1 tests: thyroid antibodies still there and tpo slightly higher (TSH at 11, T4 is fine). Still feel great, have leaned into carnivore but now it's time for meat/water/salt for a few months to see if removing all gluten, and dairy, helps!
Ended up in emergency… doc said it was the highest level hes ever seen… full blown thyroid storm. i was very sick. Seed Probiotics fixed me. 6 months med free.
@@MonaGlam10I imagine they are referring to Seed synbiotics. It’s a dual capsule pre/probiotic combo. Been on it for a few years. The best on the market
I’m dealing with this for a long time had no idea what was going on. I had all these problems, feelings, weak, tired, horsey, throat among other things then I was diagnosed with audio immune disease now I was told my thyroid bloodwork come back and it was elevated so now we’re looking at that I am a combat veteran with PTSD and I’m finding out stress has a lot to do with what’s going on. This makes a lot of sense. Thank you very much. Thanks.
I've had a lot of immune problems and my male doctor didn't believe I had PCOS So I seen a female doctor who did tests and I was correct. You spoke better about hormones than my Male doctor
Your measured, articulate speech and relaxed speed in delivering this new, complex information really hits the ball out of the park. Your metaphorical explanations are hugely helpful. Have put off my annual "checkup" for several years because of my prejudice that I'd just get a "standardized" approach to what I suspect is a thyroid difficulty. Your post gives me the education I need to speak intelligently about this to my doctor. Many thanks, Doctor.
P.S. I did get thyroid and full blood panels. Thyroid 100 percent, but rbc so low, doc suspects some gastrointestinal blood loss. Next week I see *those* specialists, then come back to check with you, Dr Ekberg.
Thank you Doctor trust me millions of people are benefiting from you sharing this knowledge may the Lord bless you, your family also the team behind the camera. From Johannesburg South Africa 👍💕
I’m a Functional Med Nutritionist with a background in physiology. That’s one of the best overviews I’ve seen. Leave it to physiology to connect the dots. Excellent and clear work. Thank-you.
Synthroid almost killed me. I was prescribed it for hypothyroidism and my thyroid started working again. I started having trouble with memory, my neurological system (had tremors and couldn’t control my bowel movements), and developed tachycardia. They then gave me something to “cool” my thyroid and I still felt horrible. So, I prayed about it and God told me to stop taking everything and to look up treating hyperthyroidism. I found a site (back in line 2005, before the internet became what it is today) and found a blog that mentioned a regiment with vitamins and minerals. It was better than anything else, but I still have issues with tachycardia. Western medicine is lazy medicine.
American doctors have to follow the sick care protocol. Insurance companies are in control and pharmaceutical companies give incentives so it’s fraudulent too
27 years taking synthroid, and Ive been fine all this time. However, I went carnivore last year, and according to blood tests my thyroid is healing. My medication dose is getting lowered, and my thyroid is continuing to heal. It does take time. Everyone is different.
Did you have your antibodies tested regularly? I'm hoping the carnivore (and absolutely no wheat/gluten/dairy) will further help my antibodies to back off.
I think I have needed you for 70 years. I think you so very much for this video in particular. This is my first step toward health to undo all the bad advice
I have a friend who has been taking levo for decades, and had 2 major improvements- she took biofeedback training to learn how to truly relax, and her thyroid meds needed to be cut in half, then, 30 years later, she had further healing and had her dose cut 2 more times. She is now on 1/4 of her original dose. The further healing took place after she lowered her lectin load, cut most sugar, ate mostly organic, and supplemented with 1 brazil nut a day for selenium, small doses magnesium, and zinc, and alternate days multivitamin and b-complex, and added omega 3 foods and olive oil. She made several changes at once, so she is not sure which changes are responsible but something is really working.
"she took biofeedback training to learn how to truly relax" If I had a dollar for every time a Health Professional told me to relax, I would have been very rich now.
OMG 😳 I have all the symptoms, except the goiter, and I can’t simply let my doctor order synthiroid (sp?) for me. Instead I have to fix 9 or more possible lifestyle habits which may cause the symptoms.😵💫🫣🫤😩 Piece of cake, Dr. Ekberg!🤸🏻♀️
Just got my RN last year. . .when I watched his first thyroid video I was like "how can you talk about thyroid health without talking about liver health? Why wasn't this stressed in nursing school?"
This is so valuable! I had thyroid issues for 20+ years and this is the first time i found a clear explanation. Thanks so much! Dr! You are saving lives here! God bless!
Just started watching your videos have been in a bad place for nearly three months now - suspecting Hashimoto or some kind of Autoimmune problem… your videos are the best and most informative! Thank you Sir

Dr E. Your lecture on thyroid and Hashi was so explicit. In the 47years I’ve suffered with this disease (had half thyroid removed and never went on meds in ‘97 and searching for a provider to handle my case I may have just enough information to ask the right questions and not keep taking the same meds (8.8mcg) without having any relief! Thank you, thank you, thank you❤
Hello from Ireland. in my 60's now. First diagnosed with overactive thyroid when I was a teenager I think. Went to hospital. Whatever happened there, thyroid went underaractive. Put on eltroxin. Go for checkups to make sure no change in dosage needed. Regarding suggestions. Try to stick to low carb diet, because diagnosed with prediabetes. Excellent results last full blood test. Wish me luck on next one. ☺

I couldn’t have said it better. Your videos that you worked so hard on to educate us, are so helpful that in the long run we are better for it and we thank you for all the work you do.
Had hypothyroidism for years and had to be on meds. I tried keto and did one meal a day as often as I could. Four months later my doctor was confused by my blood work. She lowered my dose and told me to come back in two weeks and do another test. I did and my numbers were even lower. Two weeks after that she took me completely off, said I didn’t need it anymore but she didn’t know why. I know why. I’m doing carnivore now and my energy is coming back and my menopause symptoms are almost nonexistent.
Thank you for an important and great video! I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism in 2002. I had NO symptoms. I was misdiagnosed in my opinion. It was my diet, if anything. Since early 2019, I have been doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting. I eat OMAD. I am slowly getting off Synthroid. No doctor because they all say this drug you have to take forever. I am down to one pill a day. I have been slowly coming off Synthroid since January. I will take my last one in two weeks. My hair has started to get thicker and I feel better. Maybe it's because I want off this drug that bad. I've done my research. I was misdiagnosed in 2002 AND I never should have been put on Synthroid. Anyway, I'm NOT suggesting that anyone do this but when I set my mind to something, I'm going to do it. I also include Brazil Nuts (Selenium), Sea Kelp, Trace Minerals, Magnesium, LTyrosine, and some others.
Just came across this video and I'm floored. My thyroid dx started in my teens & I've spent 40 years looking for answers. Pre-pandemic my then Dr - after several lab tests - simply said "well it certainly seems there's something autoimmune going on". That was it. My thyroid peroxidase result was 220 ... and this video shows max 34. My result was TWO HUNDRED TWENTY!! I'm absolutely floored that my Dr blew this off. They closed their doors during the pandemic & I basically gave up but the last several months I've had increased problems, most alarming has been some days my arms and legs become so weak the mere act of a shower and getting dressed takes hours. I have an appt with an endocrinologist but that's months away. Praying I'll finally get my answers and so glad to have this video to continue educating myself on this horrible disease. Thank you Dr. Ekberg, truly glad to be a new sub to your channel!!❤
I had Graves’ disease for 3 years, were the first 2 years was the peak of my treatment and by the second year I changed my endocrinologist that totally helped me all throughout the course of my treatment. He advised me to change my diet- less carbs less sugars, by then I made self research and found the keto diet! boom! With strict compliance to the treatment and with keto diet, I totally get off of carbimazole. He was flabbergasted of my transformation on my test results and looks that I gradually getting better every time I visit his clinic hence I suffered from exopthalmos and weight gain when I first consulted him. Thyroid diseases are rarely discuss but greatly affects a large number people. Thank you Dr. Ekberg for the great and informative videos as always.

Have been on levothyroxine for years with no improvement. This video was one of the clearest on hypothyroid on TH-cam. It was clear and understandable and now I know what to go over with my doctor.
I actually had to explain this same thing to my VA doctor.. I wasn't losing weight.. I also asked to get off Synthroid and put on a natural hormone med, and he put me on Armor and I started losing weight..
Dr. Ekberg, You are absolutely CORRECT! I took iodine drops for about 3 months; then, suddenly, my hair started falling out in clumps. It never stopped. Massive hair loss continues. And, I took it WITH selenium.
Dr. Elbert, your voice is so calming, and your information well presented; it’s almost meditational. If I have you playing after I’ve done yoga, the information just absorbs so easily whereas I normally have huge attention deficit problems. :)
Thanks Dr.Ekberg! The way you discuss the topic is so impressive!I am so eager to watch all your videos to refresh my knowledge about pathophysiology and health topics.

Synthroid made me delirious & miserable. I went off. I have been taking supplements and everything evened out last blood work check. I also changed up vegan diet to carnivore. Feel so much better.
I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's 35 years ago, with no more advice than to swallow the pills and I'd soon be feeling better again. Well as many can guess that simply hasn't happened and I've just had to live my life around this disease, that is often made too lightly of by society and most Doctors themselves. I wish all the information that you have given to us was around sooner ,coupled with all the diet advice that we now know about .So that anyone that is now diagnosed has the best chance of the least amount of disruption to their well being.
@@stefandieter4044 So much better since being perscribed T3 - the more active hormone, in addition to T4. And going on a very low carb diet to control excessive insulin production, which has finally allowed me to lose weight. A predominantly plant based diet didn't suit me as it didn't allow me to absorb enough natural heme iron and natural vitamin B12. There are many more nutrients to have to consider as well, that you could find harder to obtain when you have Hashimoto's, and you are trying to reduce your symptoms of it. Dr. Ekberg mentions zinc and selenium as 2 more examples here in this video.
Very interesting! Physical activity and diet DO AFFECT your thyroid levels a lot, sometimes more than the hormone replacement dose. But here's my experience and I hope it helps someone. Iodine is used mostly by the thyroid but ALL cells in the body need a little too so even if your thyroid got removed or does not work anymore (like mine), iodine intake is essential. You see, I developed hyperthyroidism at 25yo while in service (I blame experimental drugs during the 1st Gulf War) and got radioactive iodine treatment so I've been hypothyroid since '97. Had the same Synthroid dose of 150mcg for over 20 yrs. Tried other brands but that's the one that works. Not having a thyroid messes with one's body so much. Mood, skin, temp regulation, muscle recovery. I hate it but hey, it is what it is. I have to take it exactly at 6am everyday on empty stomach and not eat anything for 2 hrs after, not even coffee or i'll feel lethargic all day. My lipid levels were all out of whack too because of my thyroid but it was also my diet which was lots of vegs, carbs and not enough protein and fat. I never put lots of weight because I limited my caloric intake and exercise often but, It wasn't until 7 months ago when I switched to %100 carnivore and increased my iodine and electrolyte intake, that my lipid levels improved a lot! (cholesterol in the 400s, HDL in the 60s and triglycerides came way way down below 100 from the 400s), My testosterone levels got to the higher normal range and muscle recovery and temp regulation improved. My TSH went from 7.46 to 2.43 and FreeT4 from .78 to a healthy 1.36 and T3 from 42 to 125, all without Synthroid dose change. I haven't felt this energetic since my 20s! I can speed walk one day 10 miles in 2.5 hrs and not feel at all worned out the next day. I attribute that to the Carnivore diet.
@@tarintanjina9071 No iodine supplements but you may consider Lugol's brand iodine supplement. I just consume plenty of salt (Himalayan pink salt or Redmond Real Salt). I believe I get my iodine from the beef, and localyl farmed eggs (at least 6 a day) which should have more iodine than regular ones since is very cloise to the coast. Having a no working thyroid, I believe my iodine requirements is lower than somebody that still has a working thyroid. When it comes to electrolytes, I supplement with Redmon Relyte, LMNT or Dr. Bergs Electrolytes, I switch brands often but always unflavored. I believe that Dr. Ekberg also has his brand of electrolyte as well and. I hear is pretty good. Whatever you decide to get, just make sure it has no sugar, of course. When it comes to the diet, I eat all kinds of meats, mostly beef but also occasionally pork, chicken (the fattier parts only, highs or wings) and salmon as well as eggs and some cheeses. Carnivore has only one cardinal rule: Absolutely no carbs/starches/sugars/grains/veg oils at all. Check out Dr. Ken D Berry on YT on beginner videos. Is a really simple diet, actually not a diet since you get to eat as much as you feel, just not carbs. Best of luck.
Me da esperanza tu testimonio !!! Tengo 60 años y fui dejando la carne ,y por casualidad me descubrieron NODULOS EN LA TIROIDES ,y como dices tú, el agotamiento que tengo no lo calma nada .

So much information these days, imagine how many people suffered and died due to lack of this information in centuries gone by?! We are truly blessed to have this medical data in our time. Thanks to Dr.Sten Ekberg and doctors like him. I have hypothyroidism and if I am off my game I know it's my thyroid.
I am so excited to have the privilege of listening and learning from this brilliant doctor. He is so easy to understand. He presents this information with clarity and gives hope that is so well needed in our afflicted society. He is truly a God send. Thank you Sten.
My thyroid was killed with Radiation, years ago. I have good days and very bad days. No Doctor seems to help me, they just adjust my medication. I just struggle every day.
Sorry to hear that. Sadly, it seems that doctor's don't want to tell people the negative effects of medication and procedures. If they did, a lot of people probably wouldn't take the medication or have the procedure done and then they (and the hospital and the pharmaceutical companies) wouldn't make as much money. My dentist told me once that I want to make sure to try to keep all of my original teeth....that it's never the same without them. The same is probably true for all internal organs. It's too bad we aren't taught (or at the very least doctors) more about nutrition and the important roll everything plays and how our internal system works together. Dr. Ekberg recommends for people to find a professional but most professionals don't know much about nutrition and they don't tell you anything until you actually have a problem. I just had bloodwork and I am at 1.3 for TSH and my doctor said absolutely nothing. I had to go in and ask for a copy of my bloodwork and look at everything myself. Our entire system is backwards.
I was 28 when I got first symptoms of thyroid issues, 32 when I finally got diagnosed and got meds. After 2 years from that I moved to southern town about 1.5 hours from here due to work for half a year. During that time I lost 20 kg and felt my life was back on track. After I moved back, only 3 months and I was my normal size again. I didn't emphasize that any way. Because of that I have thought about water connection to thyroid but no-one believes me. I know this is an environmental disease, nothing else will explain it. I have tried all kinds of diets, exercises, stress relief programs. Nothing helps. I will no start buying my water as well, let's see if that helps. Thank you for really great video!
Hi! There is definitely a water connection bc if there is a high level of fluoride in the water, which is a hormone disruptor that negatively impacts the thyroid. Fluoride interferes with your bodies ability to properly absorb iodine which is critical for optimal thyroid health and performance. For this reason it is best to drink purified water, install a reverse osmosis filter if using tap water and use glass bottles due to the plastic toxins interfering with thyroid function as well. You may also want to increase your iodine intake to offset the effects of fluoride and flush out excess. Eat iodine rich seafood, like cod and shrimp a few times a week, a few servings of seaweed, eggs and potatoes also contain iodine. Also use a fluoride free toothpaste.
@@mamasshrimp422 eggs and potatoes, or (anything for that matter) raised on land that is deficient in iodine, will not provide iodine. If you’re living in an iodine deficient geographical are you must supplement.
Personally, I drink distilled water only. FYI, take a thermos or some other closed container, put tap water in one, distilled in the other, let sit for 1-2 days. Made my decision.
Dang! This guy is brilliant! I just learned so much! For 15 yrs I have gone round and round w several doctors about my thyroid. My numbers are either barely in the perimeters or a little outside the perimeters. I have all symptoms of thyroid issues(hypo) except I have run hot since my hysterectomy so cold, I am not. The other is my heart rate. It has always run higher than it should. I have a goiter, exhausted all the time, have nodules in my thyroid which hurt, dry course hair that is falling out, constant sore throat, dry skin etc. Finally after all these yrs my doctor puts me on meds. I take my first one and OMG I lay here for 1.5 hours feeling as if I'm having a heart attack. Call my doc and ask to change meds or better yet send me to an endocrinologist. Her response "Come back in 2 months. I will recheck your blood." What does that have to do w a reaction to the meds??" I am Hypo from all signs so why not send me to somebody who knows what they're doing??? Dang I wish I could see this guy!! I'm tired of this kick the can down the road attitude these doctors have!!! I just want to feel better!! 😢
If anyone is interested. Last summer of 2022, I began taking a sea kelp enhanced iodine and those had a huge improvement in my day-to-day life and sleeping. I take my 100 mcg thyroid med in the morning, but wait until the afternoon to take the sea kelp with lunch. The first timat that I took it, I began to get sleepy within 30 minutes. At first I took a pill every day for the first month but I now take it just a couple of times a week.
Thank you doctor. I was feeling crappy, although my labs were in the normal range. TSH 3.6 and anti Tpo 37 ... now I understand that those ranges are messed up!
Your comprehensive knowledge of thyroid function is impressive. I wish I could find a doctor here that approached treatment the way you explain. It's just hit or miss balancing labs with a T4 replacement.😒
What an excellent presentation of such an important health issues that most of the GP missed to explain therefore patients misunderstood its implication. Im an experienced 35+ RN but i have never seen this kind of thorough explanation about thyroid health. Thank you very much for educating us! God bless! 🙏❤️
God Bless you Dr. Sten for all your amazing videos... My grandmother died from a goiter before was born. A Naturopathic Doctor diagnosed me with Hypothyroidism over 30 years ago but later an Allopathic Doctor told me I had no Thyroid problem. I have never had a good quality of life due to many of the symptoms you mention. I have been taking 2 drops of Potassium Iodide for the past year. I don't have much time left to get a few years of good health before the end of my life. I am praying your videos will help me because my Doctor only wanted me on Wellbutrin and Clonazepam for the rest of my life. I took those for years but then I just quit taking them and stopped going to my Doctor 11 years ago... I was also diagnosed with Pre-Diabetes... I don't lose weight unless I fast on water... I eat Zero Carb now... it helps a bit, but if I eat any carbs at all I feel pain and depression.
So much suffering! I hope you find a way to heal. You may appreciate The Sunshine Principle by Melody Lyons - a really good way to approach healing! Prayers for you.

@@kelshaler4499 Yikes, that is pretty awful. did you have one and did yours end up going away or shrinking? I realize sometimes they just end up removing the thyroid.
Most people should get checked. I was diagnosed after having my bloodwork done. Otherwise, wouldn’t ever have known. I had no classic hypothyroidism symptoms other than elevated cholesterol. I was running 25 mile mountain races, working 40 hours plus a week, and was at that time a single/widowed dad. Glad I discovered it!
Thank you for this.... the sad state of things in the United States is most General DRs don't even know this... my general doctor tried to tell me that the thyroid is independent of everything... I had to correct him and went into basically the chart you have above showcasing how the Thyroid effects everything as well as needing to have your gut and liver clean as it effects your brain, thyroid, pituitary gland, adrenals, etc.... he was dumfound.
lawrence, thats been my experience with doctors as well..its both sad and shocking that they are so poorly trained, yet try to give health care to people.. just wow!
I am one of those guys without a functioning thyroid . Been on Levythyroxine for at least a year now . Recently I have begun the OMAD and 2MAd methods of eating only whole foods and have noticed an improvement in my energy and decrease in body aches that my thyroid meds never gave me .
I'm 65 years old and was diagnosed with having a Hyperthyroid. I suffer primarily with lack of sleep, irritability and constipation. I've gone to several doctors and their recommendation is that I have my Thyroid removed, but that's not a option for me. Would you please do a video on Hyperthyroid alone and give some natural alternatives to bringing my Hyperthyroid back in balance. Thank you.
This video confused me. He started talking about hyperthyroidism, but seamlessly changed to hypothyroidism. To make it worse the way he speaks both words sound similar! I started off thinking that iodine might be good for my hyperthyroidism but am not sure now.
I was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism 3 yrs ago. My Endo put my on methimazole. She was having me have ultrasounds once a year and check back every 4 months. She said the nodual was shrinking. I had many questions and couldn't not get in to see her for 4 months. I tried a second opinion and was lucky to get a cancellation from another Endo. She said said right away I need to have it burned out -radiation- or removed. Those were the only 2 options. I am terrified to have it removed. Why didn the other Endo say this in looking at the same charts. Also said I should not be on Methimazole more than 18 months. It's been well over 2 years... I don't know what to do and no luck finding another Endo without waiting another 4-6 months for an appt.

I liked the little darth vader joke there doc
I an very curious what is your opinion on Lugol’s solution (to apply topicaly)? I do a drop every day until my skin stops absorbing it and then stop for a while. (I don’t have any condition)
Thanks
I'm a male who was diagnosed with Graves disease in my mid-30s. No matter the dosage of methimazole my T3 and T4 hormones were off the charts and wouldn't come down. I developed severe psoriasis and I felt like I was having a heart attack every time I did anything that required exertion. Then my endocrinologist changed my diet and asked me to avoid carbs and replace the calories with organic meat and veggies. I did as she asked and within a few weeks I felt like a different person. Within a few months I was completely off medications.
Can you please explain what exactly you ate the whole day and what not? :) Do you still eat this way or like before?
Please share your endocrinologist contact details? I am suffering since a year now.

Sounds like my grandmother, they lived simple and clean.

I went to an endocrinologist for my Hashimotos thyroiditis, he said " there is nothing I can do for you", Wow, why did he even let me make the appt and drive over an hr to get there. Sure glad I found this caring dr. to explain this to us.
Cuz docs just push pills on us.

at LEAST he ADMITTED it! Normally they PRETEND they know what they're doing and PRACTICE on you! THIS doc KNOWS what he's talking about! SO GLAD I found him (just wish it were about 35yrs sooner!)
Absurd. I thought endocrinologists were supposed to be the Drs that knew about thyroid disorders??
I experienced the same thing. Then I found a wonderful endocrinologist that’s caring for my Hashimotos diagnosis and this nodule that I’d like to get rid of. All these years, my thyroid numbers are still within range except the TPO antibodies. So according to this video, keto would be the way to go I guess.
So i just got diagnosed with Graves few days ago. I’m a 30 yr old female. Specialist put me on meds right away even though i asked him if i changed my diet would it help he said absolutely not! Reading some of these comments have given me soooo much hope!
Changing your diet is not cost effective fir the doctor, mrds are.✝️🙏♥️
Same here I was just diagnosed with Graves. Hoping to not be on meds forever
Doctors.... 😢
Taking the meds means you are killing your thyroid forever. You will never be able to heal your thyroid if you take any meds. I cured mine with iodine and liver detox. Fasting. Once you heal your liver the blood gets purified and that breaks the gland in your brain which fixes your thyroid.
the best explanatory video on the thyroid, 100 years ahead of almost all doctors and professionals I have met. Replaceable by an app, without empathy.
It is very hard to find a professional who is really well informed and willing to think out of the box.
A box that was intentionally and carefully constructed at that.
Functional/Intergrative Medicine
I wish we all have that capacity of the holistic doctor.
I had to ask my doctor to send me for the thyroid test because of weird symptotms without explanation
You can get them to test it, but if they don’t know how to read the tests or treat you, it’s pointless.
If they won't do a whole thyroid panel, go some where else. They don't get it.
Sadly, my experience with endocrinologists is that they also do not have the knowledge needed to effectively treat thyroiditis.
Thanks.

I agree!
I agree, 2 years in and i just keep coming across hypo not hyper, graves disease like i have videos😢

I meant no diet advice from my GPs. I have to do my own research by watching these videos and practicing the diet and supplements suggested.
MDs have to follow the set guidelines that the AMA and hospitals enforce. They follow like sheep and get their paycheck. We all must take our health into our own hands and we are so fortunate to have practioners like Dr. Ekberg helping us find the truth and the solutions!

When I first began watching his videos I described him as objective, fair, and knowledgeable.
Agreed!
Dr. You explain everything so thoroughly. Thank you for doing so for all of us!

Thanks god helped u can you tell me plz how could u reversed it by diet

Good luck to you. I haven’t found an endo that cares enough or listens to do more testing. They always just prescribe meds.

Hello Annie how are you doing over there?
@@annieridesagain3262 Oh i see, where do you live?
What iodine and electrolite drink u take plzz tell me,and carnivore diet also
@@tarintanjina9071 No iodine supplements but you may consider Lugol's brand iodine supplement.

So very sorry
@@mamasshrimp422 Thank you! This is the first time I heard that fluoride is a hormone disruptor impacting the thyroid.
@@MaryBarranti I’m so happy this information was able to help you! 😘

I will recheck your blood." What does that have to do w a reaction to the meds??" I had many questions and couldn't not get in to see her for 4 months.
