  • The first car to get a tune at the new dyno shop is Anthony's 150k Mile Ls3 powered 5th gen Camaro. The car has a Texas Speed cam, headers and Cold Air Intake. After tuning the car on hp tuners using the new Dynocom hub dyno the car ended up making quite a bit of power over stock! Check out the video to see the final numbers.

Really nice the way the computer puts mixtures down so nicely.....very easy to understand the make the necessary changes. Would love to have that dyno sitting in my garage. Very curious, I don’t know much about tuning. Are you able to have a cam but keep the idle low so it’s not as loud and present, but keep the same power gains? Or does it diminish power the lower the idle? I live in California and cams are illegal so a quite idle would be nice to stay lowkey.

    • @BuildTuneRace
      @BuildTuneRace  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s what the dyno read. Hub dynos are known to be a little higher do to no loss in the tire/dyno roller aka more efficient reading. The dyno did get an update and on one of my vehicle about a year later after the update it lost around 20whp so I think the new update is a little more conservative on the number.

    • @Humble_Lyfe
      @Humble_Lyfe 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brendan Gibson. For headers go with speed engineering with off road connection pipes. You won’t feel disappointed how cheap they were and at the end you will be impressed how loud it was. I recommend getting o2 extension on Amazon you save $20 bucks and also get the gasket on Amazon also a little cheaper. In total I spend 400-500ish, and most likely I recommend taking it to someone to install it at a performance shop. Cause if one of those bolts snap. Your gonna be feeling sad for the whole day. One of my bolts snapped. I was not happy. After having it towed to a performance shop. I had them install my headers after they removed my broken bolt and tuned it. I had max power: 425.42 with just heads and full exhaust set up.

    OEM calibrators should be tuning for MBT, not knock. The best torque is found using a spark hook test. Some cars this is easier said than done, especially if real time tuning is not available in the ECM.

    • @BuildTuneRace

      blackws6 I thought the same in regards to the VE table being unchanged.

    • @BuildTuneRace
      @BuildTuneRace  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Most gen iv cars with virtual VE you can get dialed in with just Maf only. On heavily modified cars you would possibly need to adjust the virtual ve if you couldn't get it dialed in on Maf only.
      Now if this was a gen 3 then i would definitely tune the ve table.

    • @kozs360s
      @kozs360s 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@BuildTuneRace
      I think you would be decently surprised if you made a quick histogram of AFR Error and short tirms against the VE. Baby cam shafts like a 218 duration will be 10+15% rich off idle where that pumping efficiency is gone and 15%+ lean up top.
      Having a proper Dynamics blend will drive much nicer than running just the maf and adds a safe guard in the event of maf failure.
      Tuning virtual ve with hptuners is made easy, and that steady state Dyno makes quick work of it.
      Give it a try some time.

      490 corrected to the hub. Hubs are suppose to read a little higher than roller dynos. (No loss in the tire) also the dyno updated software and I would guess it reads 20-30ish horsepower less than it use to before the update when this video was shot. Probably would show 470ish now. Either way this car picked up a good amount from the mods!
