For the L99, if you put it in M and just drive without touching the paddle shifters, it'll shift by itself but more aggressively. It's equivalent to sport mode on certain cars. Once you hit the paddles, you'll have to put it in D again to have it shift automatically again.

Actually when your in sport mode(M) and you tap the paddles to use tap shift, you do not have to go back into D to use auto. Stay in M and just hold down the upshift paddle on the right hand side of the steering wheel.

    • @WorksForMeBro
      @WorksForMeBro ปีที่แล้ว +25

It is in fact the sport mode for the car. When you shift into M, you can see the S for sport on the heads up display. Definitely shifts more aggressively without a doubt.

    • @isnowyazn
      @isnowyazn ปีที่แล้ว +4

@@roddycreswell8613This. But I understand wanting fuel economy at the end of the day…
I’ve owned newer Honda’s that had variable cylinder management (VCM), which deactivated 3 of 6 cylinders (V6) on the freeway, for economic fuel management. Most people had issues with the earlier models, so there were physical add-on harnesses to disable the control modules, or you could also disable it via software with a flash tuning platform.
And yes, the manual models don’t come with economic fuel management systems. It would probably be way too complicated IMO. Most of the automatic models of the cars usually even utilize a different air intake manifold system setup (butterfly valves, etc.).

Common reason for people not liking the l99 much is the fact that they don’t know much about it. It runs best using paddle shifters with PRACTICE, same as standard. Timing has to be exact to avoid the delay from redlining and if you’re driving in any automatic mode, the “delay” is the kick down from a higher gear. Ex, if you’re cruising at 45 the car is in 6th gear. You mash the pedal, it’ll kick down to second gear then haul aah. Quick in drive, faster in sport with competitive mode engaged. (Double tap traction control) also for those who don’t know just hold the upshift to switch from manual back to sport

Would everyone here recommend from their experience, a 5th or 6th gen Camaro? Are there any real cons in your opinions? Is the windshield visibility THAT bad?

I love my LS3. From the factory, day one, the weak part of this car is the clutch disk. The hydraulic clutch disk is not nearly as responsive as the 4 speed manual linkage M22 trans that was in my '66 Chevelle SS with a 427 BB. When time comes to replace the clutch disk assembly I am leaning towards the McLeod setup. Interested in hearing success stories on what brand/styte clutch replacement viewers have opted for? Thanks for a great video.

I had the rxt 1000 hp twin disc setup and after a couple of months it failed on me. I then went with a triple disc from monster clutches and i never looked back. I daily my 840 procharged 2012 camaro ss and I also race it. The clutches from Monster are so good you cant even tell there is a triple disc clutch on the car haha. Over a year now with lots of hard miles and the clutch is still performing like when I first installed it. From them I chose their 1300hp/1300 ft lbs of torque clutch forgot the model. But it is amazing.

Monster street twin good for 700hp. Monster slave. The stock slave is actually what's weak along with the clutch. Then get the tick speed bleeder. It is a life saver when you need to do a fluid change for the brakes. Also icing on the cake is the mgw short throw it makes the car perfect with this clutch. It doesn't chatter or have any bad characteristics like other twin disc. The rest isn't bad either, but when it came to a clutch that was like stock, pedal feel, better engagement etc. The monster wins hands down.

@@98ws6m6cvert i agree with the mgw, for slave cylinder my kit came with it however i upgraded the collar on it to the billet one from tick, and i also got the speed bleeder and separated the clutch reservoir with the gto one. I also got the stainless braided line as well. Doing this with synchromesh from royal purple in my tr6060 I never grind second anymore.

I have owned both, actually several of these. The manual is a problem because it never really lets you drive the car. You can turn off all the assist controls, but it still inhibits the car. You can look up other channels and see if you go in to the programming (HP Tuner) and turn things off the car is a WHOLE OTHER LEVEL! as it should be given the horsepower and torque. The automatic with the same assist off is allows a bit more to happen. I really enjoyed the automatic much more, which is a shame. I also had the newer 5.0 Mustang GT in manual and it also has it problems, mainly the shifter will not allow you to have much fun when you are really getting in to it, also lots of videos about this topic. It is a complete shame, these cars could be so much more with just a little work.

The manual vs auto debate has been going on forever,...or at least since the 70's when I got my first car. Lately I've had a 2005 Corvette with an automatic, then a 2002 Camaro SS with a 6 speed, then a 2005 CTS-V with a 6 speed of course as they were all 6 speeds, now a 2002 Formula with LS1 and automatic. I can take either one as I don't spend a lot of time in heavy traffic and 6 speeds are "more fun" but automatics also have their attraction.

Both still suffer from the trunnion needle bearing issue if left stock so they both technically can blow up, costing you 11k.
I have a 16 SS that basically ate itself. Heres the diagnoses.
Engine experienced a lifter and trunnion failure Removed engine from vehicle. Disassembled to evaluate failure and damage.
Engine has major damage. See notes below
    Disassemble notes:
-#6 intake rocker is broken and pushrod is stuck in valve cover
-#7 intake lifter roller severely worn down and damaged cam lobe -Both rocker stands are shimmed with snap rings
-Spark plugs show vehicle was very rich
-#6 exhaust rocker has one broken snap ring on trunnion
    -Most valve tips are mushroomed
-#4, 5 and 7 cylinder walls are badly scored. #7 has the deepest and may need sleeved
-Found broken rocker and snap ring pieces in oil pan
-#6 exhaust lifter roller is ground down to the pin, mushroomed lifter body and severely gouged lifter bore - will need bushed
-#1 main bearing is worn past the copper, crankshaft main journal is badly gouged and damaged
Engine has the following upgrades: -Rocker arms have BTR trunnion upgrade -Camshaft is BTR Stage 2 NA
-Dual aftermarket valve springs -Aftermarket rear seal cover
    -Johnson lifters
    -7.600" pushrods
    -ARP balancer bolt
    -Melling oil pump
    -Mahle pistons, standard bore
    Gl Gb. Pray for me.

@@thebossnocompetition8757 So the AFM has nothing to do with the exhaust. You can get whatever exhaust you’d like and not affect the AFM. The AFM is a computer program that needs to be tuned out. You can either buy an AFM disabler or take it to a performance shop and get it tuned out on a dyno. Edit: It does have valves but once you tune them out they shouldn’t cause a check engine light. As for location, you can just zip tie them away.
