the only downside of this movie was not have a scene of desmond returning home.
this film was watered down unfortunately
@@syler100 By some miracle because some of it seemed so Super hero in real life XD
Yes and no. I love how Hacksaw ended. We got to see the real Desmond Doss with the real Dorothy. And then to have the real Desmond talk about pouring water on the soldier to clean the blood from his eyes is so heartwarming that it made me cry
He did return home. In the final scene, when Doss is being carried on the stretcher by his fellow soldiers so that he can be lowered from the ridge, the camera angle pans upwards, pointing to the sky, which signifies that he is going to heaven. He was an angel. He did return home.
@@abhijitsingh98 But he didn't die though.... he lived for many more years after the war.....
How hard it must have been to say goodbye. Espesially the father who had been thru all this before and knew what it was like.
His father probably had it worse. WW1 was no joke, it was a giant meat grinder and incompetent leaders that couldn't adapt to modern weaponry. Early on in the war they were still during Calvary charges against machine gun nests, and doing line battles. Then it evolved into stagnation of trench warfare and whoever could put more bodies in the other trench systems. That's why so many died, a long side the constant disease and artillery.
@@VengefulMaverickDon’t forget the mud and the fear of drowning especially at places like Ypres.
I had a great Uncle who was killed in 1917 in Ypres. At least they found his body. I had another ancestor whose body was never found. So sad for their families. After the euphoria at the start of WW1 it turned into a long hard slog.
More proof that Hacksaw Ridge is not only a great war movie but a great movie overall. This is a beautiful romance. Garfield and Palmer have amazing chemistry
"That's a Great War movie."
Now having a son myself since I first saw this movie I am so much more sympathetic to his father. Hell I would not have had the restraint to not kidnap him and tie him down.
Dad told me his father was angry when he volunteered in 1945. His father was also a WWl vet...
Elrond had some wise words there.
English and Australian main actors doing a fine job in this unforgettable, touching movie. I've heard some English say the southern accent is a favorite as it's pretty easy to slide into. Hugo Weaving was so good in this role. A man of many faces. From elegant elf to red-faced farmer. Always a treat to see him on screen.
As an Australian, I find that I can easily do southern accents.
@@deanpd3402 Down Under is all southern.
What is it about Americans and their obsession with ‘British’ accents ?
Both superb actors and well done.
how could ya leave those beautiful blue eyes......
FACTS
This scene is a rollercoaster of emotions. 🎢
I never thought a simple love note in a movie would make me tear up
Great movie. @1:53..the battle of Belleau Wood. I served on the USS Belleau Wood(LHA-3) from 1/87~6/89.
This movie is so beautiful in terms of colouring, lighting, etc.
This movie is so beautiful.
Teresa Palmer was just beautiful in this movie.
Mom said her brother's fiancee showed up at the train station in a new hat to say goodbye to him going off to England. By the time the train left, the hat was torn to shreds 😢
Your Uncle broke the new hat ? He thougth that he would'nt come back home?
@@cacomofono No, no, she ripped it up because she was so upset that he was leaving for war.... but he came back safe and sound.
His father is a good man
Andrew Garfield gets the attention for his acting but Hugo Weaving was excellent as well.
a powerful movie and a very powerful part
They don’t make love like this no more. This is the type of love that men stayed alive for back in WW2 so they can come home to their woman.
100%
movies awesome great good going
If only Mr. William Thomas Doss, speaks like Elrond in the way he presents the sword of Andúril to Aragorn...
"If you refuse to carry a rifle then... Anduril, Flame of the West, forged from the shards of Narsil.
The man who can wield the power of this sword can summon to him an army more deadly than any that walks this earth, Mr. Anderson"
Anyone else notice when bus takes off he’s on the right side of the bus and next scenes he’s on the left…
Oh my gosh dude same
Someone may have let him sit there for a minute to say bye to his girl.
@@mystdragon8530😂😂😂😂😂😅
It would be wonderful if you would provide captions.
continuity issue. he sits on the left before he leaves but right the scene after
these scenes are so sad to me...
Spider-Man in a war movie
This film has given great homage to the Christian faith and how the Ten Commandments play a role in each of our lives. History teaches how nations have fallen when the Presence of GOD is driven away by crime, that the Bible defines as sin, and the enemy of peace takes His place. Just look where we are now with the lawlessness everywhere. And these are times of peace.
Back then women actually waited for them man to return . If he did not ONLY then would they even THINK about the possibility of being with someone else. Even then high chance they wouldnt remarry or love anyone else. Loyalty at its finest
You have no idea what you are talking about.
@@joecobb5520 did you love during that time ? Did I miss something?
