In older games, Meta Knight treated Kirby like a threat. Now, he treats Kirby like a rival. He doesn’t fight for domination, he fights for honor.
Aside from the out of character revenge of Meta Knight, he’s always seen Kirby more as a student, either to train for a looming threat, or to teach a lesson for his impulsiveness in Squeak Squad. Seems more like he’s seeing him as an equal and a friend now.
@@xx_squirtle8621 Always wonder why because Kirby already surpassed Meta Knight back in Revenge of Meta Knight. Kirbys Adventure/Nightmare in Dreamland doesn’t count because Meta Knight obviously was holding back. In all other appearances he had to either stop Kirby for doing a stupid idea where he had to protect a chest (Squeak Squad) or was possessed and corrupted (pretty much all other Games you have to fight him)
Or he fights you again seriously like in Revenge of Meta Knight (Kirby Fighters 2)

Meta Knight's role in this game is probably his greatest, if not his second greatest (behind Planet Robobot). He joins the waddle Dee town, and if you read the lore, you learn that he has been protecting the town while Kirby is off saving other Waddle Dee's. It says that Meta Knight has fought Gorimondo 30 times...and won every single time.
The only reason why you can fight Meta Knight is not because he is possessed or angry, it is simply a test of strength. A battle to keep each other's strengths in check, to make sure Kirby is strong enough to face what is in the world, to make sure Meta Knight is strong enough to protect Waddle Dee Town. It's two friendly rivals and best friends looking out for each other while still fighting for fun.
I love what this game did for the lore, best hidden lore in the Kirby series bar none.
Meta Knight destroying his own air ship to show that he's at least as capable as Kirby was pretty dope, though. Then instead of wishing to magically become more powerful, he just wishes for the strongest warrior in the universe to come over just so he can beat the crap out of him.

That makes sense. Meta Knight seems like the type of person to train on something he’s lacking in. He got possessed two times in a row, so he trained himself to resist it. Only if Dedede could do the same

@@catsorafgc Ironically, dedede has a huge track record of self-improvement, mind control is just one of the things he doesn't quite yet have under his belt.
To emphasize what I mean with the whole self-improvement, Dedede is (to our knowledge) nothing special. He isn't a reincarnation of a god, nor is he whatever the hell Meta Knight is. He and Bandana Waddle Dee are just standard residents of Dream Land who have trained to reach the level of literal deities in combat prowess and ability. Starting with Dedede's second appearance in Kirby's Adventure, we've seen him constantly improving himself and his arsenal.
In other words, cut the dude a bit of slack on the mind control aspect.
When I found out you could actually disarm Meta Knight and STEAL GALAXIA, my jaw dropped!
Then he brought out his old Kirby's Adventure blade and my jaw went right back up in surprise.

When he charges at you and you're able to parry him, you're able to steal Galaxia (His Sword), and use the Meta Knight sword copy ability regardless if you don't have it yet.
@@dogze6744 Specifically, you need either the regular Sword or the Gigant Sword. Using the Meta Knight Sword or the [spoiler] sword, and he won't do the charge attack...at least, he never did for me.

Honestly Kirby characters have better character development than most other pieces of media.
I love how the motif of My Friend and the Setting Sun is now part of Meta Knights theme now. That song to me always represented Meta Knight's most humbling and humiliating moment. In previous games you could argue that Meta Knight in some way wasnt fully fighting, almost testing Kirby. But losing the Halberd and being so soundly defeated was such a real loss. But Meta Knight isnt a character to wallow in his losses, he's grown stronger and more noble with every passing game. Always learning and always improving, even when he loses, to the point where the song that represents a devastating moment for him, is now a triumphant crescendo for one of his best themes in the series. Truly a masterpiece

Meta Knight was a beast in this game. Could’ve done the story mode solo, but decided to protect the Waddle Dees, defeated Gorimondo tons of times, and resisted ID-F86’s control, and his attacks were insane!

This game drops not only the best Dedede theme, but also the best Meta Knight theme too. Phenomenal work.
Not getting turned into a robot, nor being taken over by a heart of pure malice. It's a good ol' duel with the best edgy boi once more, and with an amazing theme to boot. Jazz just seriously compliments Meta Knight's calm and collected personality.
I'm also convinced that My Friends and the Setting Sun is basically just his theme at this point.
Just wanting to train Kirby this time around.
Let us also not forget he resisted mind control in this game too due to his strong will.
It feels nice that Meta Knight hasn't been compromised for once and he's been doing some background protection in the meantime.
Glad I'm not the only one who noticed the ending theme of that subgame from KSS. I can't really remember the last time it was used before this, was there even a moment between KSSU and this game where it was used? No matter if it was used or not, the fact they included it in this song is pretty cool.

When entering this fight you must:
1. Revert Sword to its base form before entering.
2. Take the sword offered.
3. If you disarm Meta Knight you MUST wait for him to recover and get his backup sword, no matter how little health he has left.
Doing otherwise dishonors the fight!
Or, alternatively use galaxia after beating him, no dark souls though
with the normal sword is the only true way to experience this fight, only losers use gig*nt sword

It sounds dorky, but I love that this almost sounds like it’s a call and response between Kirby and Meta Knight.
Throughout the series, Kirby and Meta always battle due to more dire circumstances. Either Meta is testing Kirby’s skills to make sure he can face off against the big bad of the game, or he’s fighting Kirby to try and protect something. Usually Kirby gets drug into these battles.
Forgotten Land is different though. This isn’t a battle to protect the world or prove a warriors’ worth. It’s a fun battle between two friends who are just happy to see one another and the music reflects that perfectly.
It bounces between electric guitars to brass and woodwinds in a way that sounds less like some dire, epic battle for the world and more so a sparring match between two competent fighters. The woodwinds and brass instruments representing Meta Knight, a proud warrior, wise with experience and bristling with energy, while the guitars represent Kirby, a young battler with incredible power despite still being a child with a bit of a lazy and naïve streak.
In a way, Meta Knight is testing Kirby in this fight, best shown by the inclusion of My Friend And The Setting Sun. He knows that if Kirby can put forth the same effort he did to take down the Halberd, he's capable of taking on the Beast Pack without Meta Knight's help. It's unspoken, but it's like the fight will determine which of them will be the one to go forward and which will stay to defend the Waddle Dees

It's not just the trombone in this part, it's also the background notes making chorus selling the emotion and it's also the attack part that comes after.
Dude this song is really good, the best MK theme so far, and that's saying something, because Super Star's is still pretty top dog still.
It makes it even better that it’s using “My Friend and the Setting Sun,” the ending theme of revenge of meta knight, as a leitmotif there

I love that Elifin says that Meta Knight stays up day and night guarding for Waddle Dee Town.
No evil being mind-controlling him, no robotic enhancements, no evil masks, nothing. Pure Meta Knight fight and you bet your ass he's not pulling any punches.
And thanks to the music and the lore, this fight is truly a test of strength between both Star Warriors. To see if Kirby is capable of saving this forgotten world and to let Meta Knight practice and improve.

It's INSANE how this Meta Knight fight doesn't even have very high stakes, it's just a fight you can initiate for fun if you go out of your way to, but this song was still made to be the peak of Meta Knight's Theme!
This absolutely bangin' hardcore rock jazz is an outstandingly exceptional banger for Meta Knight, good lord. This song alone makes me wish he played a bigger role in Forgotten Land, but at the very least, we still got this superb BANGER!!!
It's hard to describe one specific section that I adore, but starting from around 1:25, this song really starts to pop off, I'm in love with this song's usage of My Friend and the Setting Sun!

Star Allies let us repel Meta Knight with a Sword ability.
But Forgotten Land lets us CLASH with him.
I think part of that is that there isn't really any Major stakes in this fight. No Fate of the World, No Mind Control just a Casual Duel in the Colosseum.
He defended the Waddle Dees all by himself, and now that he knows they're safe, he's giving them a good show. What a guy.
Imma be real chief. Kirby isn't meant to be a hard game. This theme goes hard
His fight and theme here are amazing, likely the best in the series so far, and his fight makes it clear why Waddle Dee town is so safe while you're out on your adventure
Bonus: his figures state that while keeping the town safe from the beast pack he beat Goromondo 30 times and he repelled the mind control Fecto Forgo used on King DDD through sheer force of will

@GammaTheDynamo I mean, Meta Knight's moveset is an unlockable upgrade for Sword.
The first time I fought him, I downgraded my sword to the basic sword for a good old fair one on one.
At the end, we both had a sliver of health left, and I managed to dodge his sword rush at the last frame and I finished him in the bullet time.
This fight was amazing, and this theme is the cherry on top !
honestly i just went for the plain old sword rather than gigant because i prefered the dodge rolls to a shield

This theme really just Embodies all that Meta Knight is doesn't it? Has the power, that mysterious strum near the start, and that unbreakable drive and passion for a fair battle, all wrapped into one neatly tied package of a theme
With a slight flamenco flair because of the anime and its English dub
I somehow released Gigant Sword's charge attack at the same time as his Calibur and knocked away his sword, then proceeded to finish him with another charge attack.
Was the only sword clash I got in this fight, but damn, did it feel epic.
I'm so glad I wasn't the only one this happened to. I clipped that shit immediately. The weight behind Gigant Sword's charged move makes it all the better of a clash.
You can actually pick up his sword and get the Meta Knight sword early! Meta Knight pulls out his original sword from Kirby's Adventure to finish the battle.

Stealing his sword was fun. I know kirby has wielded it before so when it was in the ground I ran straight to steal it. Honest forgotten land has some of my favorite boss fights so far.
And then he pulls out his Kirby’s Adventure sword yoooo
What's great about both this and Dedede's theme in this game is that they do something completely new but if you told me to listen to them and I had no knowledge of this game (but still my other Kirby knowledge) I'd still be able to recognize them as Meta Knight's and Dedede's theme.

Agreed at first didn’t know how to feel about the 3D aspect and controls in the demo but when you fight dedede and meta knight in 3D the differences show their true colours as when you compare their side scrolling boss fights with the 3D ones you can see how much fun they are and how cinematically epic they got (never knew I’d have so much fun slow mo rolling out the way of dedede’s dive and meta knight’s shuttle loop)
It’s possible that they’ll continue with the 3D formula but who knows, they might just ditch it forever after this game

Everyone talks about roar of dedede, BUT I LOVE THIS MORE
I absolutely LOVE how the melody keeps teasing you with all of these different Meta Knight related leitmotifs (Boarding the Halberd, Inner Struggle, My Friend and the Setting Sun, hell one transition sounds like Kirby Fighters 2) without fully committing to them until BAM My Friend and the Setting Sun starts blaring triumphantly at the end. It feels like an absolute celebration of the character and that makes the song go ridiculously hard.
Meta knight, in my opinion, has had an amazing but shuttle arc, from attacking you in the early games, to almost fighting along side you in the shadows, but never truely helping you outright many times, and when he does, steaks are high, and his help is what you, and most likely the universe, needs. He’s mysterious, not too friendly, not too unapproachable, strong, and so like able .

They gave the most samurai-like character in the franchise a fast paced smooth jazz theme that Incorporates the ending theme of Revenge of Meta Knight, and it fucking works
Leave it to Meta Knight to not only be one of the most fun fights in the game but also have one of the best themes I ever heard. Hearing 1:58 while both of our swords clashed was enough to give me goosebumps, that and the fact that you can inhale his sword after knocking it out of his hand made this a really memorable fight.

The feeling I felt when I successfully parried his attack, saw his sword lying there, thought ‘I wonder if I could grab that’, and then immediately got his sword, which gave me new moves, new effects and more damage cannot be replicated by mortal means.

The Meta Knight fight here is hands down my favorite fight in Forgotten Land and probably Kirby games in general.
It really feels like both of you are throwing everything you've got, dodging and countering each others attacks.
Most dopamine i've ever had with Kirby.
You know a boss fight in this game is good when it got the dynamic camera angles.
I really love how this theme has got these subtle flamenco-style sections. It gives Meta-Knight a very strong presence.
I love this theme, it sounds frenetic and jazzy, while still almost feeling noble (he is a knight, after all).
Paired with how fun the fight itself is and how you have to frantically dodge around his attacks in close range and flee from his powerful ranged attacks, plus the sword clash that sometimes happens, everything about this fight is spectacular.

What I love most about this track isn't just that it reprises My Friend and the Setting Sun at 1:58 but also the tease and the build up to it starting at 1:25.
The pay off of that build up was amazing on my first listen.
This fully describes Meta Knight. I feel as if each theme represents their respective characters with such detail, Meta Knight, King Dedede... the list goes on and on. I LOVE Kirby music SO MUCH

I know my comment won’t get seen but if you listen closely at 1:35 you can hear really faint bells similar to the ones at the start of Morpho Knights theme ( which I find cool as they’re obviously similar )

While the primary leitmotif is totally new, the instrumentation is very familiar, and old leimotifs poke their head in throughout the song. My friend and the setting sun is most obvious, but there’s also a bit of “Friends and the sound of Intersecting Swords” at the beginning, as well as the Kirby Fighters 2 leimotif sprinkled in at 1:20 too!
Damn the jazz theme to this is so nice, just got to this fight and thought it was amazing highlight of the game for me so far
Love how the title it's kind of referencing Meta Knight's backstory from the anime lol
Out of all the Nintendo franchises, Kirby is the only one to have a banger soundtrack for EVERY SINGLE THING you do. Yeah Mario Galaxy has one of the best songs to ever exist but Kirby can almost reach Sonic Mania levels of music!

Peak Meta Knight theme. The fight itself isn’t hard once you know his attacks of course, but first time playing and picking up that sword, it felt like a true duel with the Lone Swordsman himself
Undoubtedly my favorite Meta Knight rivalry in the series. It's so dynamic and satisfying to successful dodge roll with the camera swinging by like a badass
And don't even get me started on the music. Pure jazz/rock fusion bliss

i managed to get him into second phase when the revenge of meta knight credits bit started, which might mean that my opinion of this being the best meta knight theme ever and him being the best boss in the game is slightly skewed. don't care though, any other opinion is wrong

Meta Knight's theme from Star Allies was so good so I'm glad they kept it.

I went into this arena blind and saw the copy essences right before the fight and knew right away that I didn’t need them.
if you don't fight Meta Knight with his provided sword you're not a true Kirby fan after all.

I've grown to appreciate this a lot more over time, especially during my no ability run of the Ultimate Cup Z. Also, the bit at 1:14 does something to my brain that I can't describe, it gives the same feel as the second phase of the final boss. 10/10 theme, would listen again.
Sounds like it’s a mashup of his boss theme, plus bits of My Friend and the Setting Sun.
If Meta Knight appears in a Nintendo vs. Capcom video game, this would be the ideal theme. It just sounds so Shimomura-ish.
