@@MasterTiccu "One of the things we saw is that gamers are used to, a little bit like DVD, having and owning their games. That's the consumer shift that needs to happen. They got comfortable not owning their CD collection or DVD collection. That's a transformation that's been a bit slower to happen [in games]. As gamers grow comfortable in that aspect… you don't lose your progress. If you resume your game at another time, your progress file is still there. That's not been deleted. You don't lose what you've built in the game or your engagement with the game. So it's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game. As people embrace that [streaming] model, they will see that these games will exist, the service will continue, and you'll be able to access them when you feel like. That's reassuring." I believe that is the full quote. I do understand what he is saying but think about this way. Subscription services rely on constant power, constant internet access. What if the internet dies suddenly? What if we have no power? What if Ubisoft states "Y'know. We're just going to kill our old games so you cannot access them anymore." It has been done and it will keep happening. Preservation is key here. Subscription services is only focused on consumption of entertainment, not the preservation of art. That is the real problem here. These games are not made in a vacuum. Real people with real lives spend months to years building these games for people to enjoy and the powers-that-be only see dollar signs and nothing else. When we only care to consume and not to preserve and learn from our experiences, we slowly lose our humanity.

Wikipedia isn’t reliable, as it has been manipulated by Thomas Lockey, the author of the fictional book African Samurai, who has been caught red-handed editing pages multiple times to support his claims. Even if a Black man from Mozambique did exist during that period, it’s likely he was a servant rather than a Samurai. Becoming a Samurai is a lifelong commitment that starts in childhood; it’s not something you can achieve quickly. I seriously doubt he was more than just a weapon carrier for Nobunaga. Having lived in Japan for over six years, spoken Japanese fluently, and read extensively on various topics, I can confidently say that, as a big fan of Assassin's Creed, I find this to be just nonsense.

This is ridiculous. You can never expect a game to reflect real history. The Japanese are criticizing it for the sake of idleness. This is not racism. In my opinion, it is just an exaggeration of a character who is a slave. Since it is such a game, these are mentioned and in my opinion, it is very good.

you’re aware that Yasuke is a real historic figure and is widely known as the only black and first non-japanese samurai… this isn’t just some publicity thing
@@icarusfromuk There is no reliable information that Yasuke existed and that he was a samurai, if you have looked at the information on the wiki, there is recently created false information by Ubisoft themselves
@@icarusfromuk
I'm Japanese, and I'm using translation, so the sentences may change.
Yasuke was indeed a subordinate of Oda Nobunaga, but there is no historical record that he was a samurai. Also, Yasuke surrendered without protecting Oda Nobunaga during the Honnoji Incident. He has no pride as a subordinate, and I am not a black man. I don't have any complaints, but the depictions and settings that can be seen as discrimination against Japanese people are completely unacceptable.
if you’re basing your only evidence off of wikipedia i’m not gonna waste my breath, there’s countless accounts of “Yasuke” existing in old texts which is documented by big history organisations and authors. while his name may not have been “Yasuke”, there are many records of a dark skinned warrior serving under Oda Nobunaga who was not native to japan.

"It's about feeling comfortable with not owning your game"
Tremblay, Philippe - Ubisoft executive
Do you even know the context of that sentence or are you just throwing it around to stir the pot? Read what he was actually talking about and it makes perfect sense. No one cares if you're going to boycott the game because you intentionally misinterpret what was said by some executive. This is like the "Quit having fun" meme
@@MasterTiccuI did read the entire interview. And what about you? Do you know how many games sold by Ubisoft were taken out from their libraries so people that bought them won't be able to download or even play them anymore?
@@himetex What happened bro please explain
That's reassuring."
I believe that is the full quote.
