The thing that always have me intrigued about Harvey is what separates him from other supervillains, that being that he was ACTUALLY a good person & a good law inforcer who unfurtunately never recieved the mental help he needed & that mixed with his physical damage, ended up corruptong everything he used to stand for
I think that in the dark knight returns comic there was also a thing about which side of the face was associated with which personality. Subverting the "ugly = evil" trope, the unscaded half represented "Big Bad Harv" while the ravaged side "Good Man Dent".
It's neat this same idea got used in the latest animated Batman: Caped Crusader show too. Where the unharmed side of his face represents the bad, vengeful, angry "Big Bad Harv" side.
Yeah this was sad to see Even if his physical scars are healed, his mental scars will never go away. He will always see himself as that scared villain that he was in his youth and never the reformed man he has a chance to be. I have to respect two face more.
Excellent video. It's not easy to be vulnerable and mental health struggles are tough. It's so easy to be hard on ourselves, especially since healing isn't linear. I send you my support and best wishes. Two-Face/Harvey Dent is a great character. His struggles are depicted powerfully and your example of his story in The Dark Knight Returns is a great one. It was heartbreaking and well written. Take care.
Thanks for a great video. More than that, thanks for sharing on your personal struggles. Sometimes it's easy to forget content creators with high numbers are flawed. Keep fighting the struggle.
That scene from The Dark Knight Returns, Part I, where Harvey breaks down and says that people are disingenuous, laughing behind his back, always gets me to tears. It's even sadder and more empathetic when Batman doesn't pity him, but tells him that he relates. You can't just wish, pray or surgically remove your character away. You just have to let it live with you!
Don't have to be a fan to appreciate good storytelling. Alotta fans miss out on great story's bc they think they have to choose. Idk about you but my toy bin had Raphael's sai's, transformable Optimus, a snake eyes mask, woody and buzz, iron man 2 Iron Man figure, Norton Hulk, etc.
How did the Amazon Batman Caped Crusader series get 1 of the most important aspects of 2 Face wrong by having the right side of his face be melted from acid instead of his left like every other version?
They got ALL WRONG, here instead of being a Good man dealing with mental issues & who was corrupted by his scars, is a jerk & corrupt cop who was always evil since the begining
Two Face is my personal favourite Batman villain as I've always been fascinated by his mental condition of a severe Disassociate Identity Disorder and psychosis. As someone who also struggles with mental health problems, I emphasise Harvey's condition and how desperate he is to lock away Big Bad Harv's personality. Harvey is also very sympathetic when done well, as his friendship with Bruce in the Animated Series and Telltale Games made his descent into madness more tragic. Bruce and Harvey were good friends; Bruce cares about him and is willing to do whatever he could to save him. Two Faces's perspective of justice is also understandable as Gotham is festering with corrupt cops, public officials and administrators all willing to turn a blind eye to crime. Harvey feels increasingly responsible for restoring balance in his own twisted way all in the hopes of helping Gotham for the better That scene in the Batman Animated Series where Harvey is crying on the floor while looking for his cin really strikes you how he desperately needs help, and though he is a villain, yes, and has done terrible things, he's still a good man deep inside. The theme of the duality of identities between Harvey and Bruce and their personas of Two-Face and Batman is one of the reasons why he's one of Batman's most fascinating villains with such an interesting dichotomy.
The part of sometimes not humanizing your villains and heroes makes sense. Sometimes you shouldn’t because the demand is for plain evil like in Puss n Boots Last Wish, but as long as the villain is memorable, then great.

I was hoping you're finally making DCAU videos, starring with the BEST Animated Series
Human identity is the most fragile thing that we have, and it's often only found in moments of truth.
This reminds me of Norman Osborn's split personality in No Way Home where he destroyed his mask only for The Goblin to take over.
I really appreciated your little motivational chat in this video. I needed to hear some of those things.

My brother used two face in a college presentation once
Needed to hear this, beautifully said sir, thank you
The dark knight returns not batman returns. I've suffered with my mental health for years so I appreciate your video.
Damn, I’m not a DC fan, but this is deep and I appreciate it

Would you ever do videos on The Batman (2004) and Wolverine and the X-Men??
This will be interesting.
GG bro

In the thumbnail he looks like John Cena
I get Dents perspective... Im to the point myself experimenting with facial scarification
Society makes its monsters yeah?

😭💜
does Harvey have schizophrenia?

This. This right here really really hits home for me. ❤️🩹 Thanks.
