Okay, so I’ve had some information from TaylorMade and they say that the irons HAVEN’T changed in length. Apparently the way they measure irons has changed, which is why the new version appears to be longer in length compared to last version.
Just want to say a thank you for inspiring to take up the clubs again, I have just taken delivery of my Callaway Rogue Irons and booked my first lesson for Monday. Watching your videos has been great fun, informative and makes me want to go out and play.. Keep up the good work
Others have reviewed this club already, however they can't compete with Shielsy at all. He goes in depth to the way its made, new features from last model design and shows data to back up his opinion and findings. Thank you Rick we love these videos keep em coming mate.
I got the 2017 P790 irons a couple years back and I can honestly not saying anything bad about them. I have never loved a set of golf clubs this much in my life. The stronger lofts in them added probably 10 yards on each of my irons but the low center of gravity still gets that beautiful high ball flight you’re looking for. The softness on these things are amazing as well. It’s gonna take something pretty special to take these irons spot in the bag! For reference, I’m a 12-13 handicap and am 22 years old. Put them in the bag, Rick! Great vid.
I had Ping I500's. Thought they were great, However demo'd the new P790's wow what a difference. 4-aw straight in the bag. Been a ping player for 30 years so this is a huge change for me.
I love my P790’s. I carry a 12 hdcp and they are forgiving and when you het them right they perform fabulously! I would recommend them to anyone from a scratch to a 20 hdcp. They are that forgiving. You will fall in love with these immediately!
Great review Rick, I love that your trying to keep them honest regarding the price. I’ve been out of the game since selling my Sticks in 2010 after a break up. Looking to get another set now so I can teach my kids the game but everything is jacked price wise. Cobra are about the only brand that have stayed half level headed.

Great job Rick, very clever in the title. I guess 15% more tungsten equals 24% more in money? I prefer the looks of the 2017 model to be honest. That shiny chrome finish on the sole is sure to scuff and look worse over time than the matter finish of the previous model.
Just played my first round with these newer version Taylormade P790 irons. I love them. They are easily the best irons I have ever swung and I am looking forward to this golf season. The ball comes off the club face like a canon with a higher trajectory and on the average, 10+ yards longer.
Best irons and I love them. Played for 30 years and have a hcp of 1 and i have played with all type of club’s during the years. These are my favorites.
After not golfing for a dozen years I recently picked it up again. After not magically getting better I found your channel. Thanks for fixing my slice and helping me get better.
Love the way you tell it as it is. I have no time for the golf industry with their outrageous price increases over the PST couple of years, which was started by Callaway. There is no way I would ever consider paying this sort of money for clubs. Without a written guarantee that it would improve my handicap by several shots.
Good honest review Rick your spot on about the 24% increase I think most golfers are now starting to feel ripped off by most of the big names it's not good for the game
Dear Rick Shiels, indeed i am really impressed to see you giving your reviews honestly. infact , i cant explain , how many times , i saw your review of P790 (2019), becaz i wanted to decide between T 100 and these.i am 8 Handicap player, but i could not get the right way or fitting for clubs so still today , so i keep searching relying only on reviews. i ike T 100 as it is sleek but P790 is also good.Any ways best wishes. wish i play some day with you. regards

I play the old P790’s and from what I can see the new ones are geared to hit the ball higher, my ball flight is already too high, so even if I were to replace mine, which I don’t want to, I would look to get a set of the older ones not the newer ones. Great club, great golf!
I tried to get the 2017 version but they are sold out in Left Handed. So i will get the 2019 version after a fitting next week. In the US price difference is only $100 from old to new. Fair price for an upgrade.
