I was actually interested in that when I saw the ad the first time. Now i will never buy their product after hearing it 49,000 times. Most annoying voice ever
The fact that me and probably 90%+ of the people interacting with this video have little chance in this lifetime of ever needing a bladed iron, continue to watch the review in it's entirety, is a testament of the connection you've built with your subscribers. Great video and great channel. Didn't watch for the clubs. Watched because you make it interesting.
The Nike Vr pro blades were the best irons I’ve ever played. The grooves are balding but blades are amazing. I’ve gotten so much better because of them. I was a +0.4 before rupturing my Achilles in March. I will never go away from pure blade irons.
I just sold my old set of VR pro forged blades 2-lw for $300. Went with a new set of radar 3-60w. I think they will feel better than the Nikes did, but we will see.
Personally loved the review. I guess if you're just interested in what he puts in his bag, then its a let down, but for me, I'm looking to get a mixed set of blades 7-PW and CB 3-6, possibly the P770's. Great review Rick!
@@theholshouser7459 I LOVED the review. I watch every single video. But, Kevin's post is still true (and funny). Rick does do a lot of blade reviews and its pretty common for him to acknowledge they are very difficult clubs to hit and are for a very small percentage of golfers.
I find it so interesting the difference in opinion on blades. I’m off 12 and looking down at my MB’s makes me feel so confident and laser focused. I can’t get lazy and I’m forced to swing it better. Before the mb iron I was -18-20. Not to mention a bad shot usually drops short in in bounds. Instead of hot face taking it full distance OB. There usually a lot more course short of target than there is long lol. I’d recommend a cheap second hand set of MB’s to practice with to anyone
I’m a junior golfer going off 8 I use the jpx 921 tours, and I hate a thick top line it actually lowers my confidence and like you said I won’t strike it nearly as good
I've only been playing 2 years bought the p7mb 3 - pw for £500 love them and play well with them. Like you say makes you concentrate more on your strike
I have the same thing with blades. I don't know what it is exactly, maybe the feeling of the club doing the work for you instead of you working the club puts us off?
i played golf with Cavity backs for about 10 years and was only ever to hit 90 once or twice. A buddy of mine let me borrow his few year old blades and my game has improved drastically.
idk why everyone is so afraid of blades, i had some extremely forgiving clubs for years and then i abruptly switched to some MB’s and it really forced me to become a better golfer, i love both sets of blades i’ve had
Ryan Sheehan it was pretty high 😂 i probably shouldn’t have done it but i’m now a 11 handicap so clearly they helped me quite a bit. i really think i was 25 handicap when i got the first set of blades 😅. those things really taught me some patience and luckily the course i play there aren’t many houses around 🤣
I think it's about knowing where your miss hits come from. I miss left all the time because of my swing path and the fact I fade the ball, but I hit the middle of the club face mostly all the time. I switched from GI irons to a split set of Blueprint for 7-8-9-PW and i210 for 5-6. Top of the bag is hybrids and FW. I love my blades because of the feedback and the precision. I've corrected some swing path issues and more often than not, I can control the fade or add a little bit of a draw, which I couldn't do very well with chunky clubs. If your misses come from hitting the face all over the place and shanking the ball, fat and thin all the time, then no, blades are not for you.
Don’t see the point in using blades unless you’re a seriously good consistent ball striker, even then it’s just making the game harder for yourself for no reason.
@@mylesd6099 correct. I'm 10 hc and I have hybrids up to 7 iron. Then only 3 irons in 8 9 pw. Then 50 degree for chipping and 58 for bunkers. 😁. Bag full of headcovers 👍
Sometimes “Better” is a mindset. I play to a 9-10 handicap, and prefer blades because I like how they look at address. I have never cared for thick top lines and offset because they make me feel like I’m trying to dig the ball out. Whereas blades and thinner top line clubs like my ancient Titliest 735 CMB’s give me the confidence to hit the shot I want, even though I always don’t. With blades I feel positive at address and maybe don’t always get the results I’d hoped for, but I’m out there to enjoy the game, and a positive mindset is the first step. Thanks for the review and take care.
I feel totally comfortable with a blade. I learned to play on a set of Hogan Apex Irons. Tiny heads, but when you hit it pure, the feeling is what I fell in love with.
Great Video Rick!! Beautiful clubs from Taylormade this year!! I really appreciate, weather you intend to or not, how you encourage us to take pride and ego out of the equation when selecting clubs. I would love to believe I could become good enough to hit those clubs but hearing from you about a “blade” encourages me to get fitted and select the right clubs for my handicap and then go from there. Thx as always for your unique approach to this channel! Don’t change!! Love it!! Cheers!!

I just started playing again this month and I bought a set of Ping I3 and a set of blades. The blades were so much better. Once you figure out a proper swing, I think blades are better but you have to put your mind set to getting there.
I'm currently playing Titleist 690mb irons. Amazing irons. I've won 2 tournament on the amateur players tour and 2 runner ups. I love the feedback of these irons . Blades are the only way to go to get better
I barely golf I have a old set of Nike irons that work for me. But for what ever reason I really like watching your review videos, I just feel like you a very honest and genuine and it's fun to hear your take on the newest clubs. Great videos thanks for doing them.
My first ever set of irons were a 2nd hand set of Wilson Staff blades and I loved them. You could do so much with the ball that cavity backs don't let you.
I’m not sure if sponsorship influences what you are using or are going to use but a great club to try is the latest King Cobra Forged CB. Paired with Modus Tour 130 shafts or whatever works for you, they are everything you are looking for in a forgiving CB that packs a punch. You will be surprised at the performance and other benefits. Give them a go if you haven’t already, you won’t be disappointed. I guarantee it. And I’m not affiliated in any way with Cobra. I was surprised myself at the quality and performance. Perfect for the good player that likes to work the ball.
I find the P730’s to be relatively forgiving up to 7 iron. Gets harder to hit at 5 and 6. They are VERY accurate. The ball literally goes the almost the same distance. Haven’t tried the MB’s yet. Kind of scare me to try because I like the 730’s so much

Rick thank you for making educational videos. I started playing golf about 3 months ago in early may and my coaches recommended your channel to me in June. In about 2 months of watching you I’ve went from shooting 60’s in 9 holes down to shooting a 42 today thank you so much for helping me get better.
I love your videos Rick! I am am a mid handicapper I can strike clubs in the center the difference in my game is chips and putting for score. I started playing with with Wilson FG-17 Blades 30years ago and broke 100 with them . I believe that if I stayed with blades I would have probably progressed faster and more consistent and been a better golfer today. Now, I just bought a set of Powerbuilt Citation Leveler irons in new condition. I'm going back to the basics and let the clubs teach me what's a correctly strut ball.
Great video. I love watching the ones with clubs I could never afford - it's like a dream. Golf clubs are ridiculously priced. I will wait 10 years and then buy this set maybe it will be affordable 🤣🤣
My brother just got me back out on the greens after about 30+ yrs. I came home and looked up videos on TH-cam and have been binge watching Ricks videos for the last 3 days
Did he really say this? I think about it all the time...a beautiful combo set would sell more than anything...I use the SLDR irons and love them. I'd be happy to upgrade to something a littttttttttttle more gamer.
Rick I agree that blades are for the better players. But I went from super forgiving iron to wilson staff model blades playing off 10. I'm not sure many people relate but when I look down at the blade it makes me concentrate more plus they feel incredible. Best decision I ever made going to blades. Love them!
Rick, the editing these days is killer! Some of those shots seem to be done with a fish eye or maybe just a wide angle? Either way, awesome awesome stuff man.
You can really tell that the weight is more in the toe. I have tried the taylormade p7mb, titleist 620m, mizuno pro 241 and the ping blueprint T, the blueprint T was the hardest to hit good but when i hit it good than it was realy good, the p7mb were realy hard to actualy keep from playing a draw but it almost always ended left, the 620mb where also not that easy to hit but they actually felt really good i felt like they were kinda just little bit harder to hit than the taylormade or the mizuno and the pro 241 were the best (for me) i got the best smash factor with them, they feel really good and kinda soft, which i liked. (It was all at a fitting and i have ended with the mizuno pro 241 on modus 3 115 stiff shaft 4-pw and i feel like I could hit them all day and still have good shots)
This video is very well done! Great shots, framing, angles from above too. Great editing. Really shows how professional you are, choosing to use someone who knows what he's doing!
The thought of blades makes me think of hating playing golf. But, the cinematographic quality of this video is the best yet. Artistic production has really become fantastic! Great video Rick and team.
In my experience, using blades are the true game improvement iron, you know what you did wrong, forces you to become better and concentrate if you’re serious about getting better
Let me tell you buddy, your videos make golf so much more appetizing. Ive recently started playing and i seem to have more success with blades over cavity backs. My friend has blades and we have all but swapped bags at this point.
I tried these in a demo bay and hit them pretty well to my surprise. I ended up recently getting the cobra MBs but i got a combo set that goes to their CB model from 7i-4i - like you said at 4:00 - from that 150-in yardage the blade makes so much sense, but I like the little extra leeway I get with the CB model for the longer stuff
Great video Rick, but as a senior 24 handicapper I will be looking at T400 which are the best looking super game improvement irons, I've hit three shots with the 7 and very straight and solid. But would agree along with Mizuno and Titleist, Taylormade producing great irons.
I always hear that these clubs are for the pro's.i'm not at all a good player and I know other clubs would or could be better for me. But I rather have that insane good feeling when I hit the ball well and be punished when I don't. the feeling when you hit it well is just so good. I know it's personal preference of course. Can anybody relate?
So I’m a very poor golfer and I’m wondering: wouldn’t it just make sense to just play with clubs like that right off the bat, forcing you to work on your precision from the get go instead of picking up poor habits with forgiving clubs?
My handicap is probably a little higher than usual for blades at around 5 to 8 handicap (estimated) but I use blades anyways because it helps me learn to hit the ball put of the middle more consistently!
No such thing as being "good enough" for blades. Plenty of tour pros, the best iron strikers on the planet, play CB's. Likewise blades can teach amateurs a lot about ball-striking and are better for your game long term for that reason. I started playing blades 6 months ago when I was a 6 handicap. I've since come down to a 1. I love striking blades and the miss-hits teach me so much. I also don't see much drop-off in distance or accuracy on most miss-hits despite what all the GI iron marketing says.
cant agree more. I started playing a 710 MB this year and my handicap went from an 8 to a 4, ball striking capability is better than ever and like you mentioned the feedback you get is so beneficial to improving your game. I have never been able to shape shots and control the ball like this before.
Fully agree. 20+ here and recently bought a used set of 712 MB's. After three range trips I am absolutely in love. I get chills when I flush it, such a rewarding feel. When I don't I know why. I am certain these will make me a better player. And they look so incredible to boot.
I hate when they rate irons by handicap. If i'm shooting 100 because i'm taking 54 putts a round and am shit off the tee how does that translate into not being able to hit irons? I can hit an iron absolutely pure, ball-first then divot but i'm off 22. I'm off 22 because all my second shots are out of the rough, i take at least 2-3 drops per round, i can't get out of bunkers, and i 3-putt every single hole. I have Mizuno MP-33's and can hit them fine.
Traditional lofts like the current blades I'm using. After a few rounds shooting in the 80s and 90s with blades I shot a 79 then a 74. Only been playing for 4 years and ive been watching your videos since I started. Nice job rick!
MB's aren't as bad as people make them out to be. I'm not a great golfer but I HATE how cavity backs look so I bought bladed irons. Sure they require more practice and are less forgiving, but they are such great feeling clubs when hit well. I honestly believe they'll help you become better at golf because you'll feel each shot and learn from your mistakes. I used my buddies CB on the range and they feel so dead and chunky. I use Titleist MB 620s 3-PW
Is it ever warm where you play rick? I play local course and it’s always absolutely baking😂. You always manage to play on a nice cool day or a bit cold😂
No kidding. It's 6pm and it's 105F(41C) right now. Gonna be 90F(32C) by 10am tomorrow morning. The only good things about golfing in Northern California during the summer? There's nobody on the course and the ground is so hard you get an extra 30 yards of roll.
When I last got fitted, me and my dad almost went with the P770’s. But I found out I hit the Mizuno JPX 923’s better. I’ve had them for a while now and I love them.
I chnged to blades over a year ago when HC was 23!!!, people thought i was mad!!, Cobra Kings MB(7-Pw) / CB (4-6) / Cobra Utility 3 Iron... I have dropped 9 shots in just over 12 months, and i will never look back... I'd like to see a comparison between the new P7MBs and the Wilson Staff Modal Irons, as i am torn between them.
I wish I knew the difference between blades and cavity backs years ago. When I first started golfing, I bought a used set of Nike pro vapor blades because they were +2 because I’m 6’9” and they were priced well. I was never able to hit my irons and I just chalked it up as I wasn’t good at golf. Fast forward a couple years later, and I’m playing golf with a buddy who makes a comment to me that “only good golfers should use blades” and I should try cavity backs. Went out and got myself some cavity backs and it’s like night and day. I can actually hit my irons well.
Why would you be scared? Do you ever hit the center of your current set? Really there's no reason why you can't hit the center of blades? They might be a little less forgiving, but its not like hitting 50 year old blades mate...
glorious! it's truly amazing these days to see the amount of new golf products coming out EVERY DAY. i hope this is indicative of enough interest in the game to save it for future generations. i lost my favorite affordable course due to water scarcity (or more likely local politics).
The brands send him clubs to test and review (its good marketing for them). And they definitely pay him for it so if that means he keep the clubs or not, Idk, but probably sometimes yes, if he likes them.
They loan him the clubs, he has to send them back. If he wants to keep them I don’t know how that would work, he would likely not keep or buy a set of demo clubs though, I would guess he would find the clubs he likes, then get fitted for them.
Shane32 Eire They are sent to him as demo clubs, and yes, they are brand new. That’s what manufacturers do. They send out new clubs for reviewers to review.
I. Love. Traditional. Lofts. I have a set of clubs from around 1991-1992. It's not my main set because they are more bladed than I'm used to, but they are stunning.
Rick! I just wanna say that at 6:30 you mention how people wouldn’t rock the low blades . I’m one of those people! My bag is driver, 2-pw , 50,56,60, putter. I not a big fan of woods for what ever reason 😂
I'm not among the best players in the world, not even close, but I do play off scratch and am a good ball striker. To me there is nothing like my Titleist MB's. I've played them for years. Different models. Just such a good feeling.
I my day we stuck a bit of lead tape on wherever we wanted on the back of the club head to help, to give more feel, a bit more weight, these Irons just show that nothing really goes out of fashion, it just comes back again!

My brother just got me back out on the greens after about 30+ yrs. I came home and looked up videos on TH-cam and have been binge watching Ricks videos for the last 3 days
Rick - I want a more forgiving less bladed iron
TaylorMade - I got you fam
Rick - Ooooo so shiny gimme 😏
Did he really say this? I think about it all the time...a beautiful combo set would sell more than anything...I use the SLDR irons and love them. I'd be happy to upgrade to something a littttttttttttle more gamer.
I’m with you on this. The solution for me was Titleist AP2/T100. For me they feel like a blade but slightly more forgiving.
@@stephendewhurst8398 I'll have to give them a try. Titleist always been difficult for me to hit, hopefully this changes that.
Yeah and what was the music between 9:10 and 10:20? Really catchy shazam didn't catch it.
Been a couple years since I’ve watched one of your videos. Very impressive how much your production has improved.
Nothing like a morning coffee with Rick Shiels.
What about an English Breakfast Tea mate?
Just came from insta live. My one word is “Sleek”!!
Sexy sexy sexy but don’t think my score card would be lol
This video is very well done! Great shots, framing, angles from above too. Great editing. Really shows how professional you are, choosing to use someone who knows what he's doing!
With all of these new iron-review videos, I think it’s safe to say that Rick is the new “Ironman”
The thought of blades makes me think of hating playing golf. But, the cinematographic quality of this video is the best yet. Artistic production has really become fantastic! Great video Rick and team.
Describe these irons just using ONE WORD ⬇️

Sleek!
This is the most well constructed best review of anything ever I’ve seen in my life.
If you have a good swing, like Rick, the difficulty of playing blades is just psychological
Precisely. Switch the mentality like they did with the spitfire (a little far reaching I know) 'if it looks right it'll go right'
One of your best videos to date Rick, beautiful blades, scenery and tunes. Can't wait to see the MC review!
Rick, please test the Miura irons!!! and compare it to the mizunos in terms of the feels... Should be very interesting!
I’m sitting here with my 22 yr old bladed 2-PW Cleveland TA-1 I still love the feel and keep very good care of them
Love the look of these. P7 muscle backs. P7 muscle cavity’s they both look really good and hope to try them soon.
Nice to see you testing clubs again, Like the new approach.
Great looking blades I love them if I was a low handicap player I would put them in the bag right off never had any trouble hitting a 4-iron or 5 or 6
In my experience, using blades are the true game improvement iron, you know what you did wrong, forces you to become better and concentrate if you’re serious about getting better
Let me tell you buddy, your videos make golf so much more appetizing. Ive recently started playing and i seem to have more success with blades over cavity backs. My friend has blades and we have all but swapped bags at this point.
I need new elastic in my boxer shorts after looking at these irons. I reckon the CB's would be a better option mate, still a cracking looking club.
This editing tho 🔥🔥🔥
Best video yet rick!! Took these reviews to another level with this! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
"OH that is a good start!"
What are "things I've never said"
I know eh. Lol
100%
Blades absolutely make you a better golfer. It's tough work, but the payoff is rewarding.
My handicap is probably a little higher than usual for blades at around 5 to 8 handicap (estimated) but I use blades anyways because it helps me learn to hit the ball put of the middle more consistently!
Most beautiful irons ever made and I can’t wait to get my set next year, probably around late February! 4-PW with project x 6.5 shafts
How did you like them?
My favorite set of blades were the Mizuno MP4 and close behind was the Tzoid Pro's. Those TM's look really nice but I've never got there irons before.
Rhys Morris I’ve got a set of blades that I’ll drag out occasionally, and I swear that your right. They inspire a cleaner strike
Indeed... people in the comments continuously perpetuate nonsense that blades are difficult to play... they are not!
cant agree more.
How many putts per round, how many fairways found, how was your scrambling?
When you’re quicker than the notification because you were expecting an insane video
Video idea: driving range golf ball vs pro v1 9 holes. Love the videos Rick
Alistair Demko ^^
Hello
I hate how thick other clubs are so I game blades. Love the thinness and actually give me more confidence. Helped me become better a lot quicker too
They are “purty”!
I get my first custom clubs tomorrow! I'M SO EXCITED!!! Also, 10:06, that ball flight was gorgeous.
You ever going to get around to testing the titlest 620 MB’s?
Hell yeah
He does the whole titleist line in the first or second review show I can’t remember which one
Ryker Dunkley yeah but those weren’t club reviews, he just talked about them
I chnged to blades over a year ago when HC was 23!!!, people thought i was mad!!, Cobra Kings MB(7-Pw) / CB (4-6) / Cobra Utility 3 Iron... I have dropped 9 shots in just over 12 months, and i will never look back... I'd like to see a comparison between the new P7MBs and the Wilson Staff Modal Irons, as i am torn between them.
Do a match with Kyle Berkshire (the world long drive champion) he just started a channel where he golfs different courses
I would really love to watch that!
“Scary” genuinely would be scared I missed the ball with those bad boys. I would love to be good enough to play with blades as they look great
Why would you be scared? Do you ever hit the center of your current set? Really there's no reason why you can't hit the center of blades? They might be a little less forgiving, but its not like hitting 50 year old blades mate...
I find that the fear goes away after a few rounds. The clubs make me hit better.
I run these blades and love them had them custom fitted at the taylormade lab by Bruce
glorious! it's truly amazing these days to see the amount of new golf products coming out EVERY DAY. i hope this is indicative of enough interest in the game to save it for future generations. i lost my favorite affordable course due to water scarcity (or more likely local politics).
Quick question: do you buy the clubs or borrow them from a company?
I’m pretty sure they just send him the clubs for free.
@@emkayusa these aren't demo clubs really they look brand new and generally demo clubs are on separate heads and shafts to fit, could be wrong though
Shane32 Eire They are sent to him as demo clubs, and yes, they are brand new. That’s what manufacturers do. They send out new clubs for reviewers to review.
Best straight up golf channel on youtube,
Tempted to sell my house and get these
Haha
Brilliant job Rick, thank you. So grateful for the in-depth looks at these clubs I know I'll never hit, but am still curious about! Cheers!!
Can we take a minute to appreciate Rick's shoe game, wow!!!
The perks of a Nike sponsorship. ;)
I. Love. Traditional. Lofts. I have a set of clubs from around 1991-1992. It's not my main set because they are more bladed than I'm used to, but they are stunning.
My one word is “precision”
especially after those stingers
Rick! I just wanna say that at 6:30 you mention how people wouldn’t rock the low blades . I’m one of those people! My bag is driver, 2-pw , 50,56,60, putter. I not a big fan of woods for what ever reason 😂
Rick: time to hit a stinger. Tees it up in the rough😂
Love the way this was filmed fills different from your other videos and just great stuff
These are - "I'll buy them used for £200 on ebay in about 15 years time" irons.
😂
Jonathan Mack Won’t even take that long. Amazing how value plummets after new models are out. That is the way to go though 👍
Maybe 4 years... Sheesh.. No good residual with such steep initial purchase price.
3 year old clubs already depreciate 300 plus dollars it’s crazy
I am hooked on Rick's films they are helpful and very informative and there is no bull it's as he sees it and with a bit of fun keep it up m8. 👍
I'm not among the best players in the world, not even close, but I do play off scratch and am a good ball striker. To me there is nothing like my Titleist MB's. I've played them for years. Different models. Just such a good feeling.
there is a noticeable jump of quality on the latest videos. Great job Rick!
I am a 12, but I am still going to play with them, they look so cool nice 😂😂 maybe my ball striking will improve
I my day we stuck a bit of lead tape on wherever we wanted on the back of the club head to help, to give more feel, a bit more weight, these Irons just show that nothing really goes out of fashion, it just comes back again!
