The simple answer to the problem is that it doesn’t need to rev matching to down shift when you only at 2k. It won’t have problems, unless you may want to try from 6th to 1st gear directly.
Exactly, anyone who downshifts when BELOW 2000 doesn’t know what they’re doing. You already waited too long. Never should get that low. Down shift sooner and engine brake to slow down or coast
I respectfully disagree with your comments about the rev matching. When you're under 2k rpm, there really isn't a need for it. At that RPM, the car is very docile, a sequential downshift is about 300 rpm, you can do it without rev matching and barely feel anything. The rev matching above 2k rpm works perfectly, and if you're driving at a more "spirited" pace it's absolutely spot on. The wheel setup Honda put on this car was based on performance around a road course, and eliminating torque steer on a 300+ hp fwd car. I can relate to the lack of lumbar support on my CTR.
Acuity shifter or shifter part upgrades, Acuity Shifter bushings, Hybrid Racing detent springs, Acuity Throttle pedal relocater. Hasport 62A rear motor mount. The best cheap mods that will make a huge difference
Type R is great. I own the first gen 17 CTR, only complaints from the car itself is the first to second gear grind when your trying to shift hard and the 20 inch wheels on California roads. Other than that the car is awesome.
I have a 2018 Type-R and I agree with the customization on "driving modes". As far as rev match, I have become use to how it works in different drive modes, it was a little bit of a learning curve at first. I wish the car came with 19s and a little bit more rubber. I have not bent a wheel yet, but I am very paranoid. I am excited for the upcoming "Z".
dude have you ever gone over an old railroad track on the road, and it feels and sounds like your car hits the ground, i get so paranoid. also had to replace one of the tires within the first 3 months cuz of a pothole i drove over.
Do you like the 370 better I don’t know if I should get a type r I have a 370 right now I just want the low end tork of the type r with the turbo sound
Thank you for bringing these up, definitely informative (especially the rev-match which I wanted, but didn't know it had these parameters). I've been seriously considering this car next and was hoping to hear some real ownership experiences from real drivers. Most of the adver... "reviews" won't touch on the points you brought up, so appreciate it!
I have a 22 Civic SI. Auto Rev match works like a dream. Yeah the steering wheel will be nasty in a few thousand miles. Absolutely shocked you did not mention a dislike for the infotainment. That single-handedly made me not get a type R. The touch screen, lack of buttons, is so annoying, and it is ugly AF. Thankfully Honda finally wised up to just do like they do for the Accords for a proper infotainment, though it does need a refresh.
Why didn't you get a VelosterN ? I'm curious because you compare it alot to the hyundai, i love the type r and the veloster so I don't mean to come off as rude but it seems like the veloster would be better for you
Small trick you keep your steering wheel in better shape. Get a ColourLock brush and quicky and gently brush your steering wheel when you're done driving. I know you shouldn't have to do that but it makes a huge difference keeping the fibers healthy and standing up. Get some Dr. Beaselys Alcantara cleaner and Once every month or so spray the wheel, lightly dry it with a microfiber and brush the fibers back up. Alcantara takes consistent maintenence to stay looking good and healthy. And never over saturate it. When you clean it, use the least amount of cleaner possible
Very well done. Appreciate the honesty here. Former 370z owner here an can attest the rev match feature is the best in the business. My two main gripes with the CTR is its looks (mainly the two blocks of solid plastic at each bumpers' corner where Honda updated it by doing a comb over with a random sliver of body color going through it). Second is the exhaust. Sounds like a vacuum in stock guise. Other than that, it rivals the Integra Type R as the greatest driving fwd cars ever
I have a new Type R, never noticed that it misses rev matches. Never a miss. The reason I use it instead of turning it off, the pedal is offset poorly. Making heel toe very difficult. The 2k limit hasn't been a problem because at that low rpm you really don't need the rev match. I agree that the exhaust should have modes for those that want it. My biggest grip (though I LOVE the car) is the sixth gear ratio. It needs to be longer for street driving. Rarely will you clip into 6th on a track, and if you do it will be for minimal time. They should have made it way longer.
One of the best cheap mods you can do is get the Acuity Throttle pedal relocater. I installed it on my R literally 3 days after I got it. One of the biggest differences you'll feel from a modification.
I've driven an FK8 a few times, and what I don't like about its auto rev matching is that it won't do it going down into 1st. The two situations I like to rev match into 1st is super slow stop and go traffic, and for rolling stops at stop signs and free right turns. Otherwise, while I agree with the sentiment that auto-rev matching should just always work anywhere in the rpm range, I admittedly can't fathom why you would ever want to let your rpms go below 2k unless you're bumming around in 1st gear, or slowing to a stop from 2nd. Personally, I almost never let this type of manual car get below about 24-2500, especially in something that's turbocharged, that way if and when I want some power sooner rather than later, I don't have to simultaneously hurt my turbo by it asking for more power than it can currently give me. Being rude to the turbocharger aside, I'd say the proper cruising rpm range in a car like this is going to be 2 to 3k, and I'd personally always be much closer to 3k than 2k. Do that, and you'd of course never have an issue. It wouldn't surprise me if Honda figured people generally aren't trying cruise around below 2k rpms, because it really doesn't make sense to.
As an Older MAN .When young learning to drive on an Automatic my gear changing sucked. Not until I had Truck driving lessons did I understand rev-matching, I doubt unless I'm on our local track would I use would use the "Auto" Rev-Matching, I'll let you know my Options on The Type R when I get mine in a few months/ Weeks, Thanks for a Critical View of the Type R
Thanks for posting your thoughts. I'm in the market right now and have more or less settled on the Type R since the Evo and Focus RS are long gone now sadly. Still don't get why Honda dropped the leather steering wheel.
I dont know but im happy that Honda finally fixed that annoying sound on their mufflers,,to me it sounds great!! Is annoying to hear the Honda fartboys with their fartcans making all that noise on the roads.. Embarrassing !!! Great video 👍
I am torn between WRX manual premium and this. Compare between WRX and Type R, Could you please comment on the feeling while shifting ? Assuming this is daily commute causal driving, upshift downshift (no auto-rev-match), which one feels less notchy and clear? And is the difference significant? Also could you please comment on the clutch (hard/soft) and how difficult to heel/toe? Thank you.
Having owned my FK8 for two years and having done a fair few track days you make a good point on the three modes not being interchangeable enough. I find the heavy steering annoying in type R mode especially if you have the driving aids turned off. The car is more lively and I prefer a lighter steering to aid correction. As for rev match it doesn't need to work below 2k as your rpm differences are in 100's not the 1000's. I agree with the steering wheel as well. Its great for grip and feel but will not wear well at all. On the subject of the exhaust I think its silent for a reason. Every aftermarket exhaust sounds too raspy for my liking. They make the car sound like a small 2 door cheap hot hatch. Good honest review though. Get some more seat time and enjoy.
I love videos like these. This was pretty much the dream Honda as person who owned one Honda when it came out and never thought I could afford it. Now I own two and I’m really excited to own 3 next week after I pick up my 2021 fk8, but I like seeing the common problems/complaints
Good video, and I appreciate your input given what you currently and have owned. After driving the Type R I think it's a great car but flawed. Agree on mode customisation. Hard agree on 20" wheels (what we're they thinking?) Alcantara steering wheel? I used driving gloves to prevent that on a car I had with the same.soldbthe car with the wheel like new. The only other things I think compromise the car are. 1. Waffle / fake venting 2. IKEA basic rear seats 3. No rear venting / power... I could see it either driving me crazy after a while or one just overlooking its shortcomings.
Where in Ohio are you? Which group do you autox with? I have a 2020 SI and I stay in normal mode on track. Feels more nimble on tight corners. I ran Sport mode on Mid Ohio and felt better on high speed corners.
@@ZONE3965 not really. Haven't had any issues with my 2019 FK8 and my 2021 FK8 is even better. Than again I'm not unrealistic looking for a rev match in traffic.
you use auto rev match even just putting around town? i used it for maybe 20minutes when i first bought the car then turned it off. i told myself i'd turn it back on if i ever auto cross or track it. just normal or on B roads is just silly to have it on. not trying to attack you just dont get using it for regular driving.
great points. Im looking to buy one due to their good resale value. The science behind rev match is not complicated. Its a 4 cylinder engine with turbo. if your not above 2k rpms and down shift its not safe for the engine to take over the torque to rev artificially. creates problems with turbo and (air/gas) injection down the road. If your 350 has the rev match is because its a 6 cylinder without turbo
Come on guys, they put a suede steering wheel becuz it's a track ready car. Simply put on driving gloves, that will make the wheel much more grippy and less wear on it. Every race car drivers, wear gloves! If u dont like this, dont get a track focused car.
I’ve never had a problem with the rev matching, if I happen to be under 2k rpm I just rev match myself Also getting an exhaust/ muffler delete helps because you can hear the rev matches, stock exhaust is way too suppressed
@@landofsyn2980 Fortunately, I don't have many stone chips, so its not too bad. Out of the 6 cars (Alfa Romeo's, VW's and Peugeot's) I've had it been the thinnest paint certainly on the alloys. Just have to be careful. but its only a small issue for me. I have no real issues with the fk8 I love it.
Definitely agree with the exhaust, thats the number one thing i'm hoping they improve on with the 2023 version of the Type R. Don't make and aggressive looking car that's meant to be fast (for what it is) and then make it sound like a normal everyday car that maybe really needs a service xD I don't own one of these cars yet but I think by the time i'm ready to get one it will likely be the 2023 version so pleeease Honda if you're reading this, put some badass exhaust on that thing and lose the fake cab exhaust noises! Thanks a lot for sharing your genuine opinions on this car! I am considering to buy this car but my main concern is about whether or not it is suitable for driving in a country which snows for at least 4-5 months throughout the year, especially, every time when you change the gear, maybe your palm just feels freezing? Does it bother you sometimes?
I'm liking this vid so far. Thx for making it. But for now I am glad that you talked about the comfort mode and I don't think I would dislike the idea of pushing more the pedal when crusing because I would make less mistakes when shifting and my passenger's head would stay more relaxed
Never have I ever had a problem with my steering. Personally, I feel like the steering is perfect and as for the rev matching I don’t always count on it to rev match for me if it does it for me than great if not whatever I’ll do it myself. I do agree on the matter of the wheels, the offset is weird and the rims should’ve been at least 19in.
i think the idea of the auto rev match is for people who can't/don't want to heel & toe. Ie for fast road/track driving not for just cruising around town
Hey so what I figured out is that if you leave the stock exhaust and you get a street down pipe, you get a really good sounding car without the nasty drone.
If you don’t mind having less space and being RWD, the new 400z coming out with the V6 and twin turbos looks nice. Supposed to be around 40k so with all options probably around mid 50k
Now that you've had it for awhile, how does it compare to the WRX? took both for a test drive and loved the Civic, but there's something about the WRX for me
Fellow Buckeye here. Love your videos. I was wondering if you could provide some information about your wheels and tires? I picked up my 2021 Type R about a month and a half ago and just surpassed 1000 miles today. I love it and the stock wheels and tires are great. However, they won't be a good mix with northeast Ohio winters. I traded in a 2019 Si and my winter wheels and tires for the Si are not compatible due to the bolt pattern so I'm trying to find out about alternatives that will ride nice and be good for all season use. Much appreciated if you feel compelled to respond.
Best way to put it is "very different". I will look into it if I have time. Type R can drive like a normal, comfy, practical civic if you want it to. The Nismo is just hardcore all the time if you are ok with that.
i have a 17 CTR and a 19 nismo Z and like he said, they are very different cars. They provide different feel so idk if i would cross shop between those two.
His disappointment with the rev matching doesn't make sense. He's complaining about it not matching under 2g revs. Anyone who drives stick at that low of a rev is gonna throw it in neutral and glide to a stop.
@@RelaxAndSmokeMeth If you are coming to a stop, I would agree that the Rev matching doesn't matter. Where you notice it a lot of the time is slowing for a 2nd gear turn. If you are coming from third gear or neutral it won't rev match most of the time which unsettles the car.
@@projectWRX15 it will do it if you are in +R mode. if your in sports mode, the rev match is less aggressive. just stick in neutral like you are "double clutching" first and it'll do it. It took me a while to get used to it but its not a big deal.
So glad my '18 has the leather steering wheel. As for lumbar support, I have no fatigue or aches after even an hour or more, so the seats work even without any obvious lumbar support. As for the wheels and tires, stock is best. Look best, drive best. Worth the extra maintenance. You did not mention the one real annoyance- the 39.5 foot turning circle, which makes parking harder, and means you will curb the wheel if you cut a right turn too sharply. Word to the wise. Comfort mode is pretty much useless. Sport is great, even + R is fine.
I have no gripes whatsoever. Price right and fun to drive. I felt it is alright. Maybe get the Hyundai. Type R is not as fast, dont sound as good, etc. It is still a true form Type R product from Honda. Proven.
Say a few negative things you personally deal with for future buyers and people act like you’re coming for their life or something lol I’m in the market looking at options and I appreciate your points.
But it's like saying he doesn't like the look of the car. It's something you know before you buy it, not something that becomes apparent after ownership unless you literally buy a car without doing any research at all. And if you do, you're either loaded or a buffoon
Does anyone who own 2021 FK8 have transmission issues for example grinds going into second when red lining? Or getting locked out in gear? I'm guessing it's a hit or miss when purchasing an fk8 based on the amount of mixed reviews. I currently own an 86 for 6 years and I have never experienced issues like this. I plan on purchasing 2021 fk8 however still hesitant if i would experience this even at early stages of ownership. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I'd like to point out the trend of people yearning for an aggressive looking car. But aggressiveness is really not something anyone should be hoping for. It's perfectly fine to have a quality product that functions well but isn't aggressive.
Great video.Thank you for your honest review. I see alot of hate on here for your opinions (people calm down), but I think you have very valid points with the drive modes and auto rev match. That being said. I love my 2020 Type R SO MUCH. it handles like no other through the canyons and all of its faults are forgiven after the first corner. I look forward to move of your videos!
I can’t imagine driving on a 20” wheel with low profile tires like that. Most Type R owners here in NE seem to switch out theirs for 19’s but apparently that causes issues with torque steer.
Good to know on the 19s and torque steer. Honda has done a really good job with eliminating torque steer on the 20s but moving down to 19s could make that experience worse. Definitely going to consider that if I change the summers over to 19s.
@@projectWRX15 It's not bad at all. I'm running a 19x9.5 with +38 offset and it handles much better in my opinion. Most track guys I know run between a +35 and +45 offset with no major torque steer issues. It goes off a bit for a split .5 seconds but recovers really easy with minimal effort. Just my experience
never had an issue with the rev match and never had an issue with being less than 2k rpms and down shifting and being fine. It really isn't that huge of a deal.
by biggest complaint is, and this is with a 2018 type r, is the lack of fan control without going into the screen to change it. the newer ones like yours fixed that.
I like your videos. Great approach. Have a 2020 CTR and you should just get used to cruising either around or right above 2K. This is typical of Honda 4-bangers-they like to be revved and you’re always primed for better response to your throttle input. Happy ownership to you and look forward to more vids.
lol i had the same issue with rev matching. you have to go into lower gear TWICE and it will rev-match for you. for example, go to 4th to 3rd (won't rev-match), go to neutral, and go to 3rd again (rev-match)
it's weird i never had a problem with the heavy steer wheel and I actually like it and prefer that as a default from time to time, but i agree with you to a certain extent on the dislikes
Also was sie feststellen . True. I don't see any problem here. It's almost impossible to drive under 2k rpm.
I hate it as well. I want it always on or always off depending on what I chose. Don’t like the decisions they made regarding that

@@statuz9143 eww so much salt here
Even the Elantra sounds better than type r 😂
Sounds like you bought the wrong car mate.
Maybe a Honda Jazz would suit you better.
lol the Fit
Thank you for bringing these up, definitely informative (especially the rev-match which I wanted, but didn't know it had these parameters). I've been seriously considering this car next and was hoping to hear some real ownership experiences from real drivers. Most of the adver... "reviews" won't touch on the points you brought up, so appreciate it!
Please don't listen to this bucket
Lol even in type R mode my steering doesn’t feel that heavy and the rev matching works close to perfect for me. Agree with you on the wheels though.
I'm curious because you compare it alot to the hyundai, i love the type r and the veloster so I don't mean to come off as rude but it seems like the veloster would be better for you
He probably watched the veloster n get spanked by this car multiple times🔥
Hes just pointing out missing features doesemt like what bro stop crying
Type R better
Small trick you keep your steering wheel in better shape. Get a ColourLock brush and quicky and gently brush your steering wheel when you're done driving. I know you shouldn't have to do that but it makes a huge difference keeping the fibers healthy and standing up. Get some Dr. Beaselys Alcantara cleaner and Once every month or so spray the wheel, lightly dry it with a microfiber and brush the fibers back up. Alcantara takes consistent maintenence to stay looking good and healthy. And never over saturate it. When you clean it, use the least amount of cleaner possible
Is there a “perfect” car? Why buy a car when you have a dislike on that car?🤷
Golf r and gti: am I a joke to you?
About to trade my v2 nismo for ctr. How was the switch? Do you lile it or is the 370 better?
It wouldn't surprise me if Honda figured people generally aren't trying cruise around below 2k rpms, because it really doesn't make sense to.
does the exhaust piping have a resonator? i would just go to a muffler shop and ask them to delete the resonator. they usually only charge $50-$60.
you trippin mane type r mode is the only mode you should ever be in
As an Older MAN .When young learning to drive on an Automatic my gear changing sucked.
This guy needs to drive a Mercedes. Track mode steering wheel too heavy? LOL
It would of been cool if it had a manual e brake.
The size of the wheels and the offset are chosen to best mitigate torque steer. This combo works best with the geometry of the suspension..

I dont know but im happy that Honda finally fixed that annoying sound on their mufflers,,to me it sounds great!! Is annoying to hear the Honda fartboys with their fartcans making all that noise on the roads.. Embarrassing !!! Great video 👍
All valid gripes. If Honda fixes those problems the good car would become amazing.
Keep the offset stock, they are designed to reduce torque steer
should of bought a Hyundai, you don't buy a civic type r to rev match while daily driving.
Picky! You knew this in 2017 and you still brought it 3 years later.
Hard agree on 20" wheels (what we're they thinking?)
Alcantara steering wheel? I used driving gloves to prevent that on a car I had with the same.soldbthe car with the wheel like new.
The only other things I think compromise the car are.
1. Waffle / fake venting
2. IKEA basic rear seats
3. No rear venting / power...
I could see it either driving me crazy after a while or one just overlooking its shortcomings.
Is there any big difference from 2017 -2019 ?
awe touring exhaust is a good one
It is good, but the clamps are so bad. My exhaust rattles all the time after fixing it 5 times :/
Where in Ohio are you? Which group do you autox with? I have a 2020 SI and I stay in normal mode on track. Feels more nimble on tight corners. I ran Sport mode on Mid Ohio and felt better on high speed corners.
I had no idea about the Rev matching issue on the R. Good to know
It´s not an issue - it is how Honda wanted it to be.
@@ms9549 its definitely an annoying issue.
@@ZONE3965 not really. Haven't had any issues with my 2019 FK8 and my 2021 FK8 is even better. Than again I'm not unrealistic looking for a rev match in traffic.
@@BigJeezie I alway rev match in traffic..... that’s how you drive a manual .... unless your stuck in first gear lol
@@ZONE3965 are you really rev matching under 2g revs? Really? Pop it in neutral and come to the stop you're already coming to.
are you considering going back to subaru when 2022 models come out?
So basically it sounds like you want to CTR to morph with the Veloster N taking all the best parts from both. Me too friend, me too :(
you use auto rev match even just putting around town? i used it for maybe 20minutes when i first bought the car then turned it off. i told myself i'd turn it back on if i ever auto cross or track it. just normal or on B roads is just silly to have it on. not trying to attack you just dont get using it for regular driving.
great points.
I'm still going to buy one, site unseen, the moment I find one at MSRP and no markup.
Come on guys, they put a suede steering wheel becuz it's a track ready car. Simply put on driving gloves, that will make the wheel much more grippy and less wear on it. Every race car drivers, wear gloves! If u dont like this, dont get a track focused car.
Is the cabin noise really bad while driving?
I’ve never had a problem with the rev matching, if I happen to be under 2k rpm I just rev match myself
Also getting an exhaust/ muffler delete helps because you can hear the rev matches, stock exhaust is way too suppressed
So it's not true auto rev matching, just like an automatic transmission that requires you to shift manually below certain arbitrary speed
Why would you downshift below 2000 rpm?
Love mine, well engineered and I can’t fault it, if anything the thin paint. The aero works, I’m happy 👍.
How thin? I have a STI and Subaru is the worst for thin paint
In +R mode it rev matches no matter what RPM
I don't know what this guy is talking about. Comfort mode is soo smooth. Maybe he needs some lessons in driving stick shift. 🤔
I know it'll never sound like a V8 but it can sound waaaay better than this!
Finally someone who agrees that the alcantara steering wheel is stupid choice by Honda. Every other car reviewer seems to think it's an upgrade
Great video. What wheels do you currently have on your Type R? I think they suit the car much better than the stock ones.
Does it have heated seats? Also I guess I’ll have to wear driving gloves while driving it
Just got a 2020 WRX with 70 miles....what’s break in like on the Honda? Heard for the Subaru it’s 1000 miles, keep it under 4,000rpm and stay out of boost as much as you can.
Lol that’s all bullshit when i got my type r I fucking hit redline and full boost snd everything you can think off and it’s fine enjoy that shit. Next time you get in it snd drive I want you to hold the clutch press the gas all the way down and let go of the clutch and bring the Subaru to the real world
After what he complains about? Did you do any research before buying a fk8??????
Thanks a lot for sharing your genuine opinions on this car! I am considering to buy this car but my main concern is about whether or not it is suitable for driving in a country which snows for at least 4-5 months throughout the year, especially, every time when you change the gear, maybe your palm just feels freezing? Does it bother you sometimes?
It depends on how much performance you want when it snows. This car is designed to perform well on dry pavement.
I'm liking this vid so far. Thx for making it. But for now I am glad that you talked about the comfort mode and I don't think I would dislike the idea of pushing more the pedal when crusing because I would make less mistakes when shifting and my passenger's head would stay more relaxed
It makes a lot of sense to have more customization. There I agree totally. If hyundai has it why honda can't?
Never have I ever had a problem with my steering. Personally, I feel like the steering is perfect and as for the rev matching I don’t always count on it to rev match for me if it does it for me than great if not whatever I’ll do it myself. I do agree on the matter of the wheels, the offset is weird and the rims should’ve been at least 19in.
i think the idea of the auto rev match is for people who can't/don't want to heel & toe. Ie for fast road/track driving not for just cruising around town
Driving under 2k rpm is actually very common when you wanna baby your car until it’s fully warmed up lol
It sounds exactly like my washing machine 🥲
Same exact thoughts I have on my 21. Especially the rev matching because I thought it was just me. I turned off my rev match and do it myself
Hey so what I figured out is that if you leave the stock exhaust and you get a street down pipe, you get a really good sounding car without the nasty drone.
could you send a link with suggested exhausts?
i have a 460whp 2018 subi sti that thing isn’t gonna last so what hot hatch should i buy? i have a 70k budget pls recommend me some cars
If you don’t mind having less space and being RWD, the new 400z coming out with the V6 and twin turbos looks nice. Supposed to be around 40k so with all options probably around mid 50k
Now that you've had it for awhile, how does it compare to the WRX? took both for a test drive and loved the Civic, but there's something about the WRX for me
I own a 370Z NISMO V2 and im about to sell it to get a TYPE R. Which is better and why?
You’ll love the fk8 🙌
Fellow Buckeye here. Love your videos. I was wondering if you could provide some information about your wheels and tires? I picked up my 2021 Type R about a month and a half ago and just surpassed 1000 miles today. I love it and the stock wheels and tires are great. However, they won't be a good mix with northeast Ohio winters. I traded in a 2019 Si and my winter wheels and tires for the Si are not compatible due to the bolt pattern so I'm trying to find out about alternatives that will ride nice and be good for all season use. Much appreciated if you feel compelled to respond.
Do a comparison of the R and nismo! I'm currently cross shopping both
Best way to put it is "very different".
Well I've had him Hondas most of my life and want to try RWD. Type r seems like it would be more of the same
What year is your car
The rev matching works differently in all 3 mode more responsive in R mode and less responsive in comfort mode
His disappointment with the rev matching doesn't make sense. He's complaining about it not matching under 2g revs. Anyone who drives stick at that low of a rev is gonna throw it in neutral and glide to a stop.
@@RelaxAndSmokeMeth that’s facts these guys just have nothing better to do but bitch and complain for a video
Wrx or veloster n?
So glad my '18 has the leather steering wheel.
As for lumbar support, I have no fatigue or aches after even an hour or more, so the seats work even without any obvious lumbar support.
As for the wheels and tires, stock is best. Look best, drive best. Worth the extra maintenance.
You did not mention the one real annoyance- the 39.5 foot turning circle, which makes parking harder, and means you will curb the wheel if you cut a right turn too sharply. Word to the wise.
Comfort mode is pretty much useless. Sport is great, even + R is fine.
Thank god in my Camaro I can use track mode and go into settings to change the steering to tour mode.
I have no gripes whatsoever. Price right and fun to drive. I felt it is alright. Maybe get the Hyundai. Type R is not as fast, dont sound as good, etc. It is still a true form Type R product from Honda. Proven.
I like the sound, its not loud and annoying, thanks to the large muffler, if you want it to be loud get a straight pipe
Why are you rev matching below 2k rpm?? You’re already low enough, just downshift and be done with it.
I own a 2021 civic type r with 22k miles. I haven't had any issues with gear shifting and I drive the car to red line pretty commonly.
I'd like to point out the trend of people yearning for an aggressive looking car. But aggressiveness is really not something anyone should be hoping for. It's perfectly fine to have a quality product that functions well but isn't aggressive.
who tf downshifts below 2k...
I dislike that it doesn’t have a sunroom 😐
Its hard to fit an entire sunroom into a car..
Cause it's a hatchback I think once you put the back seats down you could squeeze in a sunroom 🤣
norcalzack Kiwi FK8 I mean ... I have a sunroof on my single cab truck lol
It's better to not have a sun roof if you track the car. Gives you more head room for a helmet, and lower center of gravity.
Sonax Alcantara cleaner and a soft brush will help with the steering wheel.
Lol....VW GTI owner here. At no time am I ever hanging out under 2k rpm......
You mean double clutching....
@@kevinmorelikekevout3639 o,... sorry. i'm still a noob

Also was sie feststellen . Ich hab den Type R FK 8 Bj.2018 und ich kann ihre Klagen in keiner Form nachvollziehen . Die Lenkung arbeitet bei mir gefühlt völlig perfekt .
