From a 45 year old owner... congratulations on an awesome purchase... don't let the hater distract you from the greatness of this car...so many are still copying Honda.
Congrats on your new Honda Civic Type R! It is an AMAZING car and definitely an awesome driver's car. I am a proud owner of a 2019 Honda Civic Type R and it is not only one of the best cars I have ever owned, it is one of the best cars I have ever driven. Welcome to the club! BTW one of the hardest things for me was breaking in the car and not pushing it for the first 600 miles because she wants to run! Definitely a necessary evil if you plan on keeping the car for a while and a good reason to get one new if possible because if you buy used there is no guarantee the previous owner bothered to break in the engine properly.
I traded in my 15 WRX about 3 months ago and switched out to a 18 Type R. I've been in love with it since day one. Its awesome to see another person go from a WRX to a Type R as well.
I’ve got an 18 rex myself and almost got an r before it but everybody had markup on em. What’s your take on the clutch engagement? Same as the vid or diff? Thanks in advance!
I never really had any issues with the clutch engagement. The only difference to myself anyway is just the overall feel is night and day. The WRX had a "heavier" feeling clutch pedal that felt like it took more effort to press in where as the Type R has a much "softer" pedal and i felt that threw me off a little when I initially started driving it.
@@Drogas3653 Just got back from driving the Type R and you can do what you want with your money but every time I drive the this car I am reminded this was money well spent. Picked up some food for the family and there just happened to be a car meet in the same parking lot and the Type R fit right in as if I planned to be there. Crazy! Just traded my 16 STI with 90k miles on it last week. I wanted a red or black CTR but they only had white on the lot. Other dealers are marking up 5-10k MSRP. But I got mine for 1k over MSRP but has 20y/200k miles warranty included which I think made the markup worth it. The suspension on this car is almost luxury, complete opposite of the STI. Also the turbo pulls so much earlier. I do miss my STI so much tho, the rumble and pops. Drove the CTR off the showroom with 7 miles on it and now 300 more til I finish the break in. Congrats on the car!
Had mine for almost 2 years now and I love it! I also came from a 18 WRX and honestly I wouldn't go back. I also use my R for winter and honestly no problems at all, I use studded tires and it doesn't need them at all haha
I’ve owned a WRX since ‘02. Looking at buying a car this year. For me the styling is a little over the top. Saw that Honda introduced a sport version in Europe that doesn’t have the huge rear wing and comes with 19” wheels. Went from YES to WHAT when I saw it was $2700. Am I the only person that thinks that the steering wheel might get grimy over time? The black does tone down the CTR.
I agree with you 100% on how good this car rides over bumps. I was blown away . I'm coming from a Evo X that I daily drove for 7 years. Then going to the type R. It was night and day how smooth the civic rides in comparison.
@@RelaxAndSmokeMeth no it was 5 grand over sticker ... made it 43,499.95...... well worth the money. Love ❤️ how it drives and looks. This is only thing. I like the stock rims on my Type R and was so worried about potholes with the stock rubber band tires that I bought the wheel protection plan from the dealership. I recently bought some thicker 255/35/20 all season tires and man they feel way better. It's a cheaper alternative to getting new tire/rim combo. Just my $0.02. Just bought a black 21' CTR 2 weeks (and 450 miles ago) and stumbled on this review. Damn near spot on for me, except don't notice the clutch takeup point issue. Great job! Not sure this car gets a fair shake as most of my car buddies can't get past the looks or some the FWD platform. Will enjoy letting them drive it, as that is where you fall for this car.
Keen to see how you go with the TypeR. From AWD to FWD is significant, especially in winter conditions. The rear of the car design is way too hectic for my tastes but black tones it down thankfully. Honda Civic = Luxury, spoken like a true WRX owner. I've got one too, a MY2018 premium, and whilst it's ok, it's nothing to fall in love with. Hope you enjoy the new car!

@@projectWRX15 I have not heard the touring in person. Although I will say the track has a bit more drone than stock. I imagine the touring has none, I did hear people saying it droned because of the extra exhaust not being pumped in, which can be disabled by removing the module.
I owned AWE touring for a few months. Love it a lot , not super loud but loud enough to make your smile. Drone is there, it’s loud when you hit 70+mph.
Agree interior is enough for me 👌🏽 nice take...I have the 2020 fk8 too Will you also be deactiving that fake engine sound in cabin once you get an exhaust? I probably am this weekend.

@@emersonmaldonado8843 auto rev match means that you can downshift without barking the tires. If you downshift without matching the rpms to the speed the wheels are spinning it will bark the tires and doing that at higher rpms can cause some traction loss. So the computer blips the throttle by itself to match the rpms to the speed of the wheels. This makes driving a manual MUCH more liveable for people who want to get into manuals without too much hassle

Looks awesome bro 🔥 what model is this? HC Type R 2020?
Congrats, I would get 18’s or 19’s, an exhaust for sure I use AWE track, and an intake (PRL). These 3 mods wake up the car.
I was actually looking at the AWE touring exhaust. Heard there still may be some drone on the highway and was hoping to get an exhaust with no drone. Have you heard the touring exhaust in person?
@@projectWRX15 I have not heard the touring in person. Although I will say the track has a bit more drone than stock. I imagine the touring has none, I did hear people saying it droned because of the extra exhaust not being pumped in, which can be disabled by removing the module.
I owned AWE touring for a few months.
Love it a lot , not super loud but loud enough to make your smile.
Drone is there, it’s loud when you hit 70+mph.
Agree interior is enough for me 👌🏽 nice take...I have the 2020 fk8 too
Will you also be deactiving that fake engine sound in cabin once you get an exhaust? I probably am this weekend.
The reason why it’s pretty stiff in the +R mode is because it’s only meant for track use and straight line
You don't feel the clutch catch cause it has rev matching so its almost electric... just saying
Best looking Type-R on the outside and all you did was cheap wheels & winter tires lol. Love the black too; my MK7 GTI is dark blue and receives far less harassment than my fire engine red G8. Enjoy!
The clutch has automatic rev matching🔥 you’ll never miss a shift
Does that mean that it will never stall ?
@@emersonmaldonado8843 no.
I like reving up 4 a downshift tho...
Wow !! that's the Best version, for me every angle of your car is just Wow .....
Bro. I live in Cincinnati also. I just bought a new 2020 STi last week. We should meet up and do a Compare vid.
What type of winter tires did u get? Size and brand
Pirelli winter sottozero. 245/40-18
R they good on the snow
Wish Honda made the rear end cleaner looking
3100 lbs.. "light"
*laughs in 1987 CRX HF*
It's lighter than it's competitors, but it's still up to 500 lbs heavier than a Fit.
Grats on your new car!
honda Rev Match Control System that is why the clutch is flawless.
Only for downshifts
Congrats!🎉
Apologies if I missed it in the video but are you going to sell the nismo as well since you have this now?
