I test driven this mk6 GTI yesterday, it's mindboggling, i can't believe how happy and fun it is around some backroads' curves. people say 200horsepower is small, but what people don't realize is the power delivery, it's just so refined and eager. my advice is to you testdrive it!!, im getting one soon !

@On1y1Ch1na It allows an Automatic car to be reved while being in Drive and having the brake is engaged.
@charles4hl well the 2.0t on the a4 gets 211 , but that may get more where you are so who knows..ive always wondered what the difference is there.

@AgentStyles It's Autobahn. That was the key point to me buying one was the interior quality and ride. Way above it's competitors. All cars have issues and my last Nissan which I only owned for 4 months was in the shop 5 times in the first month I owned it. So....

@AgentStyles It had 17 miles, it was a new 2010 Nissan Titan. I have owned many Nissans, from Maximas, to a Z car before the Titan, and all have been fairly reliable but they had their issues. Not as bad as the last one. Our Honda has been in the shop twice in 3 years. Mostly cosmetic interior pieces falling apart. Our Acura TL has never had a issue either.
Funny, the dude even used a cabled mike with the cable shut in the door, love the GTI, not sure I would take this guys word for anything.

I believe the new engine is the TSI 2.0 vs. the FSI 2.0 in the previous version.

if i get one i would get the manual transmission, just because i have heard that the automatic is kind of unreliable, i don't know if that is true about the trans i'm just saying.

@TypeDoubleR -There's no Civic Type-R in the U.S., so it doesn't matter.
The point of this car isn't to be the fastest., but the nicest.
@AgentStyles Actually the GTI is more value for the money. It may not have the same HP/TQ numbers the 3 does, but everything else about the car blows the doors off the 3. Reliability, build quality, looks, comfort, interior, etc. For $599~ get a chip, and it will eat a 3 for lunch.

Yeah !!! haha Wish we could have all engines you've got in Europe. We're really poor on diesel engines and too many cars come standard with an auto transmission!
Nice car but if they cut their production costs they really should have lowered the price to sell a higher volume and get their product out there. Not much of a market out there for $24k+ hatches.
@BetterDayz19 I would if the price was right. I dont care much for the looks or cosmetics of the car. Mechanically they are pretty much the same car. You could put the money you save into mods to the older one or something.

the mkvi is by far the car of the year in my books. the only thing i think VW skimped up with this car is this XDS. yes, it works very well, but it is not a 'true' differential, simply because it is using the brakes to stop tire spin. but oh well. it makes up for it with that 2.0LT hahahaaa

I have a jetta actually, and its pretty slow.
the jump from 200hp to 211 probably nothing you would feel. like adding a little cold air intake.
But then again i work on corvettes all day, so if it doesnt have 500hp, it doesnt really do much for me. =)
i wuld change those rims n make a couple upgrades...n im done...i want thiis so badly
@Yellowmusicfreak...Dude, wat r u talkin about... Its not a "2.0 N/A that can make 200hp/207lbft".. its a 2.0 "Turbo" that can make 200hp/207lbft ... I think Honda is tryin to keep their cars N/A for the "fuel economy" approach of consumers..

will u check your facts. the engine in the mk6 car is different from the mk5, tho the figures are much the same, the engine is different

Amen, brother! I test drove a Civic Si, and I HATED IT. It took forever to get up to speed. Yet, it's one of the best selling sporty cars in the U.S. There are better cars out there. Subaru WRX, VW GTI, and even the Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec-V will smoke a stock Civic Si.

Doesnt matter which American review of the VW you tune into, none of them know how to pronounce "Volkswagen". Volkswagen means "people's car" in German, in which it is pronounced [ˈfɔlksˌvaːɡən].

Ok so if this car is "all new" why does it have the same chassis and same engine. Its NOT all new, just a face lift.
This car is not that fast. 6.8 second?? Too long, but the price and quality and value is unbeatable. I wish VW would put more juice in to this car. GTI deserve it. I would buy this car in a hurry if had more horse power.

@lbryan250 why don't you check YOUR facts. You are dead wrong. The 2008.5 and 2009, which are considered MK5's were equipped with literally the exact same engine as the mk6. Look it up. Both the mk6 and some mk5 models were equipped with the TSI engine with literally the same output as the mkv models. You should think before you type nonsense.
