- Both transmissions are fantastic for this car, if I had to choose I would flip a coin between the two. Although, I do personally like the 4-door body style more.

How much did you pay ? Found one for 22k 2012 66k miles is that too pricey. ?
@@2etrevin it was listed for $17.5 and I got it for. $16.5 it still seemed high to me but this market is crazy! Mine had 48k miles
@@MrJoel0913 IMO, you did well, not cheap nor expensive, fair price value. Is very very rare to find them w such low miles, whoever owns tends to keep em until close to 80k miles.

I watched a lot of Mk6 GTI videos before buying one, but I figured I should tell you that yours turned out to be the final one I needed to watch; bought one the following morning. a black 2012 4 door with the DSG and it's brilliant.
In the market for a new car I caught your review with Jackson's white one and the 4-door caught my attention when looking them up. Getting one this weekend, you're reviews are extremely informative and top notch keep it up!
I loved my 2011 GTI 5-door with DSG, had it longer than any other car. Moved to RS3 and then Tesla Model 3 but this will always hold a special place for me.
I have a 2012 autobahn gti and I couldn't be happier. I love the fact the car can be real comfortable when you just want to drive and when you feel like carving the backroads you can really get on it.
Oh my gosh, I LOVE your guys' intro music and stuff! I would totally listen to an mp3 of that! It would be great "driving music", haha.
I miss my old 2011 GTI! it was a two door standard car, it was so much fun to drive, great for beginners!!
I own a 2013 Mk.6 GTI (same one as here essentially) and it's nice to hear the noise from outside....cause I always hear it from within. Love this car. So much feel, so responsive, and enough torque.
I think the wheels look like a revolver chamber.

Wow. I didn't realize how fast the dsg really shifts in this car. The shifts are lightning quick.
I love this car and review! I love the sound of that exhaust!! I see it has a K&N air filter. I am definitely going to put one on my GTI.... when I get it.... :)

Perhaps they were in the past, VW has really improved their quality and reliability. Plus, when you buy a new one, you get free maintenance for 3 years or 36k

Just got my son a 2011 GTI, it is the 2 door, automatic. Shifts are VERY quick! Certainly shifts much quicker than I could do manually. Loving the car so far. Fantastic bit of German engineering.

I personally own the 2002 GTI and My friend the 1998 GTI.
I have had a couple problems with them. All problems being simple really easy fixes that any cars would have. One being to replace a hose for small coolant leaks. I have never had any major problems, and I don't think you should worry. It all depends on how the last owner treated it. Honestly they are great cars.

This is a nice car! I just have trouble choosing between 4-door and 2-door. I want the practically of a 4-door but I serisouly don't want anybody in the back seat lol I hate people telling me to slow down. Great video
If you can wait for the new model to come out next year than wait. Just keep in mind you will pay a premium for the early models. While today, you get pick up the mk6 for a steal.

awesome. how long (time/miles) have you had it? any issues? and does the maitanence plan pay for everything even oil changes/tires rotations? considering buying a lightly-used '12 with at least the sunroof/conv package myself

Never drove a DSG before but I think I'd still get the manual no matter what. I know it's quicker to 60 but what's the point of going faster unless you're on the track, and a manual helps with my short attention span so I never get tired of it.

Shadow Blue is definitely the best color, I love looking at my car in direct sunlight, it's just gorgeous. And in NA for the 2013 MY I believe they've discontinued SB so it's quite rare too!
Around town the DSG is super jerky though which really annoys me.

DSG doesn't work when you are travelling at a very low speed, especially moving slowly in the traffic. You can feel the transmission and engine hesitates and jerks when you are pulling off from a standstill. Audi/ Volkswagen's turbocharged four cylinder engine is slow off the line but it shoots like a rocket after 3000rpm!
When i heard that the focus had a dsg i was hoping it would be like the vw one. It's the automatic transmission i always wanted.
I consider shadow blue to be the best vw color aside from the blue that the golf r uses

I’m a total manual girl but I went with the dsg on this car. You absolutely cannot heal toe and rev match in the manual version due to the type of throttle pedal used and it’s position is set a lot further back than the brake

That's exactly the way I feel. The DSG is a great transmission, but not for me. Plus, the manual is cheaper!
Thats exactly it. Its recommended. If your going to buy a car like this, you want to treat it right. I would recommend premium. Personally I run my GTI on MID.
Well different strokes for different folks lol I actually hate how the shifting in automatics is smooth because I like little "pause" in the engine sound when shifting gears in a manual lol

Just got a 2013 autobahn and I love it. I love the way it looks and I have it in the space metallic gray. My friends think it looks like a chick car or a Prius. I don't see it especially since one of them drives a Land Rover lr4. Just wanted to know your thoughts, I don't really care what they think but just as a study in car design I guess.

Okay I have a question. I want this to be my first car. And I also want to drive back to Cali with it. Currently I live in Texas so it's about an 18 hour drive. And I wanted to know if this car was good for the task. And if so how much money do you think I would waste on gasoline?
Agreed! It's just more fun. The GTI isn't really that "fast" anyway. My 05 automatic Altima was faster than my 2012 GTI, but I'd still much rather be shifting my own gears. It definitely feels faster

Couldnt agree more! it's the same way with the Lancer Evolution, amazing car, but the dual clutch trim costs 10K more, hell no, ill take the stick shift!

if you cruise for long distances at 70mph, you can get upwards of 34mpg highway. if you like to accelerate hard, be prepared to get closer to the EPA estimated mileage of 26 mpg mixed.
Quick heads up that is not accurate about the EVO being 10K more for the Dual Cluth. The EVO GSR 5 speed manual and the EVO MR 6 speed Dual Clutch only 3K more.

hmm, OK dated was the wrong word, I don't want to say cheap either as its too harsh, there is nothing wrong with it as I'm sure it works fine but I just think this head unit should be saved for a Golf, this fabulous car deserve the touch screen at least ;)

Exactly! I just think ANY kind of automatic gear shifting takes away from the fun of driving. Sure, a DSG is better than a normal torque converter auto, but i would still prefer to shift my own gears.
Until your clutch goes out and you have to get out fixed, trust me won't be fun

Vw really shortchange you Americans. Euro 2011 has steering wheel controls and rear LED lights, base model. That radio is from a Euro 09 plate too. Your 'Detroit' wheels are actually bbs monza shadows. As for those stick on side refectors, lol.

No not anymore. When you get up there in miles like over 100k then stuff starts to break but they are not that much more for maintenance.
