Fun Fact about Bad Box Art Mega Man - It was designed by Marc Erikson who was asked to do the art having never seen the original game design in any way, and wasn’t given any direction by Capcom as to what to include (which is why he has a pistol instead of his Buster Arm)
Another fun fact, Capcom was working on a series of mega man games with plans for a realistic styled MegaMan game This version of him potentially being revealed as the modern ones father and the motivation behind the current ones adventures. Unfortunately tekkenxsf was a huge failure financially for capcom (and Namco) and lots of cuts were being made across the board (for many reasons) including all of the plans for MegaMan.
I feel like the story behind why Dan's fireballs are bad is really a key part to why he's such a great joke character. In Art of Fighting there was a ki meter that you needed to use fireballs. If you tried to fireball without the meter the fireball would dissipate almost immediately. Street fighter has no ki meter, so the fireballs are always bad. There's also the lore explanation which is that Dan throws his fireballs with one hand, which only the best like Gouken and Akuma can do consistently. It creates a sort of dynamic where the fact that he can do it at all is actually very impressive and he either doesn't know the right way to do it or does it with one hand anyway because he can.
Even Kage can't. Only Gouken, Oni and Oro use one hand properly. The only exception is Akuma's air fireball. Everyone else who throws energy projectiles with one hand have limitations. Like Chun-li's one hand fireball is weak and the two hand fireball travels far. Bison (SFA) and Rose don't count because their cases are tricky, including the energy type they use. Neither Guile (SF5), Nash or Remy as they don't throw "energy" exactly. So that's a big ability in the SF world. But in the FF and AOF world there are many chars that can do it. And in the KOF world, after 96, those powers were nerfed overall. Like Ryo only gained a Dan fireball since 96. But in 94 he had a regular full screen fireball and air fireball (that he also lost since 96).
His taunts are a parody of their game at the time where taunting had a function. I guess the joke being that that may work /there/ but in this game it does nothing.
you forgot about Neco Arc's luck meter. Which is basically a "I feel bad" mechanic. When you have 30% or less health. You are more likely to get the good summons If you get trash summons, your luck meter is increased, when it is at 6, you are guaranteed an exs rank summon(vtuber, saber, eco arc)

Indie fighters always tend to have some awesome and creative ideas!
One of my favorites is Lowaine from Granblue Fantasy Vs, entirely because of his win animation. He's just a dude that works in a restaurant with his brothers being pitted against legendary swordspeople, mages and the like; there is no way that he'd ever be able to beat them in a fight... so when he *does* win, it cuts to a scene around a table with Lowaine and his brothers where it basically re-frames the whole fight as a story that he made up!
Beowulf in Skullgirls isn't exactly a joke character, but has the "his attacks aren't really attacks" thing in common with some, as his light punch is him lifting his hand to his ear to get the crowd cheering (and inadvertently elbowing the opponent) while his mid punch is sticking his arm out to give a mic drop.
Or Big Band. His MP is just him whipping out a trumpet. Also, can we just appreciate how they managed to make it to where you can play any song you want to through that move?
Joke characters seem to have the best themes. Roll has Kaze yo Tsutaete, Neco Arc has her theme, Neco Arc Chaos has Another Episode, Dan’s themes are actually pretty darn nice, and Phoenix Wright (who I’d consider to be half joke half actual character because he’s a lawyer who fights without actually fighting) has a banger remix of one of the songs from the original game.
Hey Waku Waku 7 schoolar here (I made the wiki in SuperCombo), Bonus kun sucks yes but he has some dirty stuff, the EX tatsu is actually a 3F overhead for some reason, Fireballs are unblockable up close, this is bc for some reason the game has a bug with certain fireballs, the first frames are unbloable and the EX version as well with the DP are 0F after the superflash. His normals are mad plus so you can link a lot of stuff together, including a very tight infinite with his EX tatsu, the issue is gaining meter as he sucks at it, similar to 3rd strike you can build meter by whiffing normals attacking and all that but he has the slowest meter build in the entire game so good luck with it, he can heavily spam his fireballs so his zoning game is actually pretty fuckin good. He also can't throw which is pretty funny, can soft tech at least and his Sweep is -1 on block which is incredible good. Bonus Kun is a very weird character that has no competitive use whatsoever but extrangely is not considered the worst char in the game by various members of the community, that honor goes to Mauru.
@@carlosaugusto9821 That's correct, even then in Waku he was supposed to be the bottom tier char, which makes sense it was just a joke that can't even crouch block haha so its pretty funny that they fucked up another char to such a degree to be even worse than him
Dan's portrait move in MvC2 has a bizarrely high priority and knockback when he is holding up the picture before throwing it. He can actually smack Juggernaut out of a Headcrush with the 2 frames where he holds it up.
@Neoxthegamer He is when I use him in casual scrub play lol. But I just find it amusing that one of the 3 worst moves in the game used by one of the 3 worst fighters has an ultra niche application where it has a 2 frame counter to some very high priority moves.
In Shaman King Spirit of Shamans for the PS1 there's Manta as a playable character. Thing is, in the manga this game is based on, Manta never fights since he can see ghosts but can't use them in battle, and as such acts more like an audience surrogate/comic relief character. So, his moveset is based ENTIRELY on the slapstick gags he's seen performing in the manga, like beating people up with his encyclopedia, summoning his literal shoulder angel and SHOOTING LASERS FROM HIS EYES.
you forgot the part where if your special meter is 100% after doing it once you can immediately do it again, which connects! bonus points due to how the game works, since every combo is cancellable into a special the other guy is already dead within the first hit lmao. been a while so i may be misremembering. Love that game
@@jestfullgremblim8002 let's just say that for the last 1 and a half years SK has been part of my life. Literally. In my country a total reprint of SK based on Kodansha's 35 volume release was announced back in April of 2021, one volume every two weeks. And since I don't have a car, I had to beg my brother or anyone else with a car to bring me to the local comic book shop every two weeks. I finished reading it this September, and I don't regret the wait or the 200 euros I wasted on it at all. About other media, I actually have never played SoS or any other game, I've just seen some stuff on TH-cam. I haven't seen the 2001 anime yet, and the 2021 version disgusted me after the first 13 episodes.
One of my favorite was Sandbert from Rivals of Aether He was quite literally a joke playable on April 1st. A sandbag that was incredibly overpowered. Mostly like the joke direct because Dan was roasting the scrub mentality while explaining Sandbert.
@Sythrus probably 💀 bro is just a rectangle with a face. The best part is that sandbert has effectively just appeared in a lot of platform fighters, there are playable sandbag mods for smash, I kiss when he had a raging demon, and then Fraymakrrs has its own similar one when you first make a mod for the game.
Gon is probably my favorite. I was really into his manga series back when I was playing Tekken 2 a lot, and finding out that he was in 3 was a very delightful surprise. They're probably could be or even already is a joke character with more personal meaning or more of a fun history for me, but I can't think of one.
Norimaro is pretty fascinating. The name of the character was chosen via mail in contest. There's a video on YT showing footage of the actual comedian visiting Capcom HQ and seeing the game in development as well as picking the name contest winner. The early version gave him a move that got completely removed from the final release (probably because Marvel objected to it lol) and also has an unused move where he thinks of a lady Capcom character (with one exception lol) and then suffers a nosebleed which is used as a projectile attack.
I actually like using Roll with Iron man and War Machine. Be sure to choose projectile type for War Machine though for the Team super art. That missile barrage at the end causing a launch knock down is something I LOVE!!
A personal favorite, Kinoko from Ultra Fight Da! Kyanta 2. She has a ultra that randomly drops unblock-able rocks that hit any player in the stage with a chance of dropping a red rock that instantly kills anyone, and this last for 10 seconds even between matches, is absolute chaos and I love it.
In the dragon ball franchise there's a guy names Hercules and he's pretty crazy in Xenoverse 2 if you know to use alt combos. His unique ability to block out of ANY attack, rolling Hercules punch instead of back hit, and use his little I frame attack. It beats custom Hit zero present of the time.
Hercule, aka Mr. Satan, the ultimate joke of the DBZ universe. Known publicly as the “World’s Strongest Man” and champion of the yearly World Martial Arts Tournament. He cannot use ki and compared to most of the cast, he’s insignificant. However, he is someone who has never once died over the course of DBZ, even when Buu destroyed every other member of the human race, and ultimately it’s Hercule who was able to gather all of Earth together to power the Spirit Bomb that saved the universe. He was a hidden monster in the old Budokai games, too, if you knew how to play him.
Hercule being a joke character is funnier in the games where his daughter Videl is also present who isn't a treated like a joke character despite the fact she's not that much stronger than him. Though she also doesn't have ki attacks and also still usually sucks. More than once her strongest attack has just been Gohan helping her. Heck in fighterz that's a large part of her moveset.
As I recall, the Bad Boxart Megaman was supposed to be part of Megaman anniversery celebration, for the character's 25th or 30th birthday or something like that, with a number of other games as part of it, and a big one being a sort of Megaman multiverse game with all the different versions of Megaman (Legends, X, Zero, etc) teaming up, including the Bad Boxart version, but unfortunately every other game in the plan was cancelled and only the Sreet Fighter x Tekken character got through.
Daily reminder that Bad Box Art Mega Man was an idea that Ono had, back when he was running the show. He asked Inafune if he could put BBAMM in Street Fighter x Tekken, as a playable character.
Definitely Dr B. I remember when I unlocked him after beating that final fight game within Tekken 3 and I was so amazed. And then he became a playable character and Tekken tag 1 or 2
Dr B is an amazing joke character, just for how interesting he plays and moves. Mokujin is a classic, but not a joke character. The mimic character is like it's own mini archetype. 4 of them just in tekken, since mokujin, tetsujin and combat, and Unknown also kinda counts.
Yo so about the SFXT thing - check the steam community guides. You can find the 5 PS3 exclusive characters ported to the PC, plus a fix for the GFWL issue
There was a character added to Rivals of Aether a few years back for April Fool’s Day called Sandbert. They were a white rectangle kinda like Bonus-Kun, but they had a lot of stuff ripped from Smash Melee’s spacies, including Fox’s Lasers, Shine, and Illusion. They were only playable in the base game for a limited time, but now they live on as the game’s first Steam Workshop character and a template that most people use to make new Workshop characters.
Great video! I love a good joke character, but my personal favorite is still Mokujin. When you first saw him in the arcades in the 90's he blew your dang mind. Such an off-the-wall character that actually made perfect sense once you learned that he was a reference to a specific martial arts movie. Mokujin gets overshadowed by Gon as THE joke character of Tekken, but he's still the best imo. Joke characters are often not that fun because they feel TOO weak. Mokujin is as strong as the rest of the cast...the only limiting factor is your own knowledge of the cast.
Won a SFA2 (actually it was SFZ2) tournament at an arcade in Seattle's International District in '96 or thereabouts. The runner up was . . . not pleased.
Off the top of my head Pepsi Man was in something. Either fighting Vipers or fighters mega mix let you play as a car, that stood upright, and the little yellow Dino Gon was in Tekken
This past Sunday I cleared mvc2 with roll Dan and servebot for the first time out of all my years playing the game. Was a total uphill battle that I believe Justin wong should do on the hardest difficulty
Norimaro's attack names just make him funnier. His fairly underwhelming supers get names like Hyper Strong Miracle Treasures and Ultimate Grand Champion Jump
There is also Shingo from Kof. More of a goofball than a joke, and he is formidable, but I think he’s notable for being created for the sole purpose of adding some light heartedness to the otherwise extremely dark Kof ‘97.
@@philithegamer8265 Jigglypuff in Smash is a good one, if you were to look at a surface level, she appears to be super weak, being easy to launch with a low damage output, short reach, no recovery move, slow ground speed and two specials that leave you vulnerable for a long time. But, all that hides what is arguably the BEST Air Game in Smash Bros (At least in Melee and Ultimate) making a GOOD Jigglypuff incredibly hard to deal with. Thus making her actually viable in Melee and Ultimate.
You explanation of servbot had me rollin, hard af. "Maybe you got hit by the table cloth on your way to the table" lol like wtf. Great joke character material.
I didn’t see it in any other Norimaro comments, but he does have different round start animations for different opponents. The one you showed has him recoiling from Shuma-Gorath, but he will blush and pull out a camera if it’s a female character on the opposite end.
Was definitely expecting Mokujin and/or the Bears from Tekken for a well-known mention, and was kind of hoping for Tomoka from Dengeki Bunko as an obscure one.
Joke characters are kind of a tough subject, since I think there are two kinds of joke characters: the ones that are designed to be intentionally the worst character in the game and the ones that have absurd, goofy fighting styles (usually canonically extremely weak compared to the rest of the cast). Dan has actually been *both* of these, going from completely worthless in Street Fighter Alpha to actually kinda mid-tier in Street Fighter 4, he's actually not the worst character in that game! Personally I think that the first variety of joke character just doesn't happen very often in modern fighting games, characters are very expensive to make and doing all of the work to make a full working character with the intention that nobody will ever use them just feels wasteful. You're never going to convince your publisher that's a good use of resources. (Although I think Street Fighter 5 hit a great middle ground with NPC fighters like Peter, if only there was a mode where you could play as them without mods).
Ah... seeing that bit about Norimaro reminded me of a character I played in Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom - Hakushon Daimaou. He was a genie who had a grappler-type playstyle with a fair amount of comic relief, if I recall correctly. He was in the Japanese-only version of the game, being replaced by **five** other characters for the global release. (In the time that has passed, his series "Bob in the Bottle" got a continuation in 2020, "Genie Family".)
I don’t know if it was only in the arcade version or something but I remember Servbot having a super where he grew to full half the screen and hit the opponent with a squeaky mallet, which was always fun. And I think he was actually useful in campaign mode because he was short enough to dodge the attacks from the second stage of the boss.
You 100% need to make a part 2. There are so many. UMvC3 Phoenix Wright being a really notable one. There's Jagi from HnK, Chibi Moon from the Sailormoon fighting game, and probably Momoko from the KoF series(notably KOF XI where she's essentially the Roll Tier)
That's so weird, a few days ago before this video was up. I had made a Video suggestion about Tekken 3 Dr. B and now I see this video talking about Troll characters lol For those that don't know Dr. B from Tekken he is in fact a Troll character. He trips, he falls, he has Heart attacks, Shocks himself, coughs out radioactive waist, and can motor cart away. He is one of the few characters that are the most difficult to play because he has different stances (hunched over, grounded, standing etc.) and if your not holding or going the right way, he just falls. It's still a bit of a mystery what he can do and wouldn't mind coverage on it.
Not a conventional fighting game, but you should’ve include Hercule from DBZ budokai tenkaichi. He needs a jetpack to fly, throws rocks instead of energy blasts, and his rush down movies either involve the opponent faking being hurt or Buu just stepping in to protect him.
Servbot also drops a health pick up when he is defeated. His death actively gives hp back to the opponent. And his awful hp means he's easy to knockout. Sure you could pick it up too but that's less likely to happen.
The joke characters are the best idea u can put in a fighting, I fucking love play grandblue fantasy versus with lowain, the peoples are fucking angry when u use his super attack
I need to get type moon and main neco arc, that's amazing. I don't play fighting games but I watch this channel sometimes cuz I do like watching people talk about and show how fighting games work.
Dan takes more than surface level similarities from Ryo and Robert. His horrible fireball is similar to their fireballs in AoF their “spirit” meter is depleted, and his ability and preponderance of taunts is based on how you use taunts in AoF to deplete your opponent’s spirit meter.
I LOVED playing Servbot in MvC2 i just thought he was hilarious and broken as he was waaaaaaaaaay to small but his animations and supers i found really funny as a kid still do today. I don't think Hsien-Ko counts as a joke character but found her like one. Adon in SF4 was my go to Joke character just to annoy my bro and sis as i could somehow beat them with their Mains adding insult to injury hahahahahaaha.
So in Jojos bizarre adventure heritage of the future, there is a character called Alessi who in the anime has a ability where if you step in his shadow, you slowly deage. What makes him a joke is that in the anime he is afraid of adults and is heavily implied to be a child killer and overall creep. Also there is a entire mode in the game where you just play as baby forms of your character called Alessi mode
Bad boxart MegaMan is so dang funny of a pick, but also that boxart is so infamous and fantastically awful. I saw the Drawfee episode where they redrew boxart based on description.
If they make another MvC game, Norimaro needs to be the twist villain and cite his exclusion from the other games as his reason for being the antagonist
I think Dragon Ball Tenkaichi 3 is an interesting case. It contains an enormous roster, including some heavy hitters, but also a bunch of characters that are just really weak, just for the fun of it. Characters like Hercule, Appule (the first alien Vegeta kills on Namek), Babidi, Devilman (Whose super does practically nothing to good characters, and deals a lot of damage to evil ones), and Arale (who is actually pretty high-tier despite being a mostly comedic character). And who could forget the REAL joke character: Frieza Soldier! (literally just a random grunt, two if you count the alternate skin).
Joke characters that I like : Sandbag in Smash Flash 2 is pretty much Bonuskun in Smash although none of his moves were taken from somewhere else. He has crippling weaknesses : he is overall painfully slow, he cannot grab ledges and some of his atacks leaves him on knockdown. However he has a pretty scary killpower thanks to his huge damage and knockdown output. He also still has moves like d-tilt, d-special and side-special that allow him to move around fast. His funniest move is his up-special that is just him throwing a Bob-omb at himself and being sent upwards by the explosion. What's so funny is that this is supposed to be his (vertical) recovery move and he can actually die from that
I was very glad to see Bonus Kun. He shows up in the background of Skullgirls, right? Talking about Norimaru in MSHvSF; what about Anita in her only playable appearance?
Dr. B from Tekken 3, dude! You have to beat Tekken Force *5* times with at least 4 different characters, but once you have him, it's so much fun exploring his moveset 🤣🤣
My favorite joke character is Dampierre in Soul Calibur 5. He's a literal moustached twirling villain with flamboyant circus clothes and a big ham personality. And he fights like he's trying to act like the greatest swordsman of all time but is really inept at it. He might randomly fall over during some of his attacks to get ground setups from it. Also his instant-kill super isn't some flashy combo or world ending nuke... He talks to his opponent about how he grew up on the streets poor but his 'sister' and the only family member still alive, has the plague and needs money for the doctor to save her life. And it ends with his opponent in tears at such a sad story and giving him all their money before leaving.
well good to finally figure out WTF neco-arc is I kept seeing references to them with no idea WTF that was so, the more you know I guess. Definitely my favorite of the joke characters that wasn't on the list has gotta be Fighters Megamix's Hornet, the freaking car from Daytona USA!
Joke characters are the best to main. If you lost, you can just blame the character. If you win, it's added insult to the injury. I see them as a win-win.
the best joke characters when their OP, or functional piranha plant in smash with the Einstein trigonometry spike ball shots , Neko Arc is pretty legit in Lumina, chair g tables winning 2nd place at a big tournament with Chair Person in Project Justice
I think we've definitely seen a decrease in joke characters as the cost of making games continues to go up, not to mention how much they rely on DLC. Who would buy an out-and-out BAD character anymore? They could have spent that time and money on a REAL character! But that said, we are starting to see a compromise: they're often very silly and weird but oddly effective. Dan in SFV is a legit character who has some cool stuff. He might never be top tier but he has more going for him than just being intentionally bad for a laugh. As far as an interesting suggestion, I think it was Hanataro in Bleach: Shattered Blade on the Wii. His sword heals opponents instead of hurting them, and a lot of his moves have him being very clumsy. If I recall his super makes him stronger and he has a few moves that DON'T heal the opponent but you really have to go out of your way to try to win with him.
That's part of what makes MvC2 so great, like 1/3rd the cast are joke characters. Thanks you, thank you, tip your waitresses. Eternal Champions on the Sega CD has some joke characters you should check out, like the Senator, Crispy, Hooter, etc. Definitely look into that. I think Phoenix Wright is my favorite joke character, though.
Skullgirls has two joke characters: Fukua, who is a basicallypalette swap of protagonist Filia, and Robo-Fortune, who was initially a palette swap of Ms. Fortune but evolved into a unique character. What makes them unique though, is THEY'RE THE BEST CHARACTERS IN THE GAME, you will rarely ever see a top 8 without them.
@@philithegamer8265 It's a lot of different factors, but from what I can gather as an intermediate SG player, Fukua is the best all-arounder and one of the only characters with ranged grabs and launchers, plus a very good divekick so she can start a combo from any position, Robo Fortune I'm less familiar with, but her projectiles being near-instant, having a wall-bounce normal, and the highest damaging super in the game probably play a role.
Gundam Battle Operation had the Ball, a tiny floating coffin with a gun on top in a game full of giant robots. Small hitbox and really fast normals made him lethal in the right hands.

That's genious.
one great example of character ideas is duels of Fortune! Good Job on that game!
Can't forget about kyanta2 with kinoko(ok we all know that all the characters in ufdk2 are joke characters)
@@shiyunkari9044 you are kinoko.
How does Random work as a fighter?

I absolutely love seeing top joke character players, they're so hype to ser winning
If anything, that honor goes to Fukua.
@@romariodesrosier1450 Or Beep-boop-meow. Err ... Robo-Fortune.
Or Big Band. His MP is just him whipping out a trumpet.
Also, can we just appreciate how they managed to make it to where you can play any song you want to through that move?
And dont get me started on Peacock, who fights like she's in a literal cartoon.
Still, no one likes Roll from Megaman.
Joke chars are not an equivalent of bottom tier in first place. Actually many aren't.
@@carlosaugusto9821 That's correct, even then in Waku he was supposed to be the bottom tier char, which makes sense it was just a joke that can't even crouch block haha so its pretty funny that they fucked up another char to such a degree to be even worse than him
I liked when Dan's fire ball was just him throwing his portrait.
Ah yes
Dan's portrait move in MvC2 has a bizarrely high priority and knockback when he is holding up the picture before throwing it. He can actually smack Juggernaut out of a Headcrush with the 2 frames where he holds it up.
@@tinkerer3399 so dan was actually good in mvc2
@Neoxthegamer He is when I use him in casual scrub play lol. But I just find it amusing that one of the 3 worst moves in the game used by one of the 3 worst fighters has an ultra niche application where it has a 2 frame counter to some very high priority moves.
The legendary BOOFTA THIS IS FOR YOU! Move.
Oh someone that does talk about Shaman king!
@@eb7389 damn lol. I actually didn't dislike the modern anime like that. It seems good enough to get new fans
One of my favorite was Sandbert from Rivals of Aether
He was quite literally a joke playable on April 1st. A sandbag that was incredibly overpowered.
Mostly like the joke direct because Dan was roasting the scrub mentality while explaining Sandbert.
Didnt it take him like a day to make the character?
@Sythrus probably 💀 bro is just a rectangle with a face. The best part is that sandbert has effectively just appeared in a lot of platform fighters, there are playable sandbag mods for smash, I kiss when he had a raging demon, and then Fraymakrrs has its own similar one when you first make a mod for the game.
It's funny how Sandbert's jab is like frame 2 and does 8 damage per hit
Glad you covered that cat. Nothing like picking cats in a game and having some fun.
Khajit has wares if you have coin.
Gon from Tekken 3 is also a joke character full of fun moves and comedic animations! Love him!
I think he has his own manga and video game. So he probably counts as a cameo.
Gon was abusively good too.
Gon is probably my favorite. I was really into his manga series back when I was playing Tekken 2 a lot, and finding out that he was in 3 was a very delightful surprise. They're probably could be or even already is a joke character with more personal meaning or more of a fun history for me, but I can't think of one.
In the same game Dr. B was also a big joke character
Heck they even wanted to implement a salmon who does *nothing* lmao
Gon is by far my favorite character in Tekken 3. I got so sad that he was never included again in Tekken series.
That Shin Godzilla breath attack was awesome.
I actually like using Roll with Iron man and War Machine. Be sure to choose projectile type for War Machine though for the Team super art. That missile barrage at the end causing a launch knock down is something I LOVE!!
If I remember correctly, Dan was actually pretty cool in SvC Chaos, too.
Finally someone noticed. Good game by the way, SNK vs Capcom!!
Because Dan is mockery of Ryo Sakazaki and Rober Garcia, and SvC Chaos is made by SNK😂
A personal favorite, Kinoko from Ultra Fight Da! Kyanta 2.
She has a ultra that randomly drops unblock-able rocks that hit any player in the stage with a chance of dropping a red rock that instantly kills anyone, and this last for 10 seconds even between matches, is absolute chaos and I love it.
ngl i think everyone from kyanta is kinda a joke character tho tbh
@@URAYULI in concept and design but in gameplay most of them feel solid, Kinoko feels like the fish out of water.
Also Hercules dual ultimate allows him to heal like a whole bar of health. My friend and I use this to troll people in 2v2s, its the funniest thing.
@@Superluigi881 kind of sad that videl is overshadowed in a fight by fucking hercule of all people.
It's simple, I see Bonus-kun, I click like.
Daily reminder that Bad Box Art Mega Man was an idea that Ono had, back when he was running the show. He asked Inafune if he could put BBAMM in Street Fighter x Tekken, as a playable character.
It really does reek of late stage Ono.
As a long-time Tekken fan, I would add characters like Mokujin, Gon, and Doctor B
@@FFKonoko Other game equivalents would be Dural (VF) and Inferno (SC).
Combot is a mimic character??

Yo so about the SFXT thing - check the steam community guides. You can find the 5 PS3 exclusive characters ported to the PC, plus a fix for the GFWL issue
I was gonna say something like this. The game is definitely playable nowadays. My roommates and I played SFxT on PC a few weeks ago.
We need a part 2. Too bad we already have Neco-Arc for that thumbnail tho

My heart skipped a bit when l saw the Mr. Popo zoom in character slot and heard: "Bonus coon"
Underrated.
That's actually a literal ball in a black face.
Mokujin isn't a joke character. He's a mimic character.
Pepsi Man was in the japanese Saturn version of Fighting Vipers and the Hornet from Daytona USA was in Fighters Megamix.
@@rasmusdegn9690 You could also pick up the AM2 Palm Tree as a playable fighter in "Fighters Megamix".
As awesome as dan is, it'd be cool to see a new joke character in sf6. Imagine what a joke grappler or rushdown or zoner would look like
Joke Grappler? That goes to Beo from Skullgirls
A lot of his moveset is very out shadowed by the rest of the cast but once he grabs you? It's over.
This past Sunday I cleared mvc2 with roll Dan and servebot for the first time out of all my years playing the game. Was a total uphill battle that I believe Justin wong should do on the hardest difficulty
You bastard I commented this to Justin Wong like a thousands times .... You stole it!
I am not really mad I am just being dumb.

I'd love to see a sequel on Lethal Joke Charecters. I love characters who are super goofy, but are actually quite viable.
Examples?
@@philithegamer8265 Jigglypuff in Smash is a good one, if you were to look at a surface level, she appears to be super weak, being easy to launch with a low damage output, short reach, no recovery move, slow ground speed and two specials that leave you vulnerable for a long time. But, all that hides what is arguably the BEST Air Game in Smash Bros (At least in Melee and Ultimate) making a GOOD Jigglypuff incredibly hard to deal with. Thus making her actually viable in Melee and Ultimate.
Gon and Boschonovich from Tekken 3 come to mind.
Ushi the Cow from Fighter's Destiny is not only the joke character of the game but also the strongest.
Bonus Kun is Top Tier joke character for sure!
Crogunk from Pokken Tournament deserves the spotlight! It's a mostly ignored game but I think that he's a really funny addition to the roster
Genuinely surprised you didn't mention ANY of MK's joke characters. Bo Rai Cho, Mokap, Kobra, Hsu Hao, Jarek, among so many others.
Good old meat
Other than Mokap, I thought all of those were supposed to be legit (if goofy) characters. Or at least originally intended to be such
@@iamthereddemon20 *BEAT* that *MEAT*
My man Meat.
Don't forget the OG, Ermac
Was definitely expecting Mokujin and/or the Bears from Tekken for a well-known mention, and was kind of hoping for Tomoka from Dengeki Bunko as an obscure one.
Not sure if Tomoka counts as a "joke" character though, although she is pretty funny. If anything, that character is Ako.

B and now I see this video talking about Troll characters lol
For those that don't know Dr.
He needs a jetpack to fly, throws rocks instead of energy blasts, and his rush down movies either involve the opponent faking being hurt or Buu just stepping in to protect him.
my favorite joke character is definitely robo ky. he’s basically a mirror of ky except he’s weaker and a lot more jank. he’s just so insane
Servbot also drops a health pick up when he is defeated. His death actively gives hp back to the opponent. And his awful hp means he's easy to knockout.
Sure you could pick it up too but that's less likely to happen.
Blitztank from Akatsuki Blitzkampf is one of my favourite joke characters
The joke characters are the best idea u can put in a fighting,

I couldn’t help but crack up when Bonus Kun did the spinning kick
Faust from Guilty Gear worths mentioning too
I've known the origin story of Dan for a while but my headcannon will always be that he's a parody of Steven Seagal.
good ol bad box art mega man, every tourney team had him, first team to land a combo o into mega man fly was the winner.
Dan takes more than surface level similarities from Ryo and Robert. His horrible fireball is similar to their fireballs in AoF their “spirit” meter is depleted, and his ability and preponderance of taunts is based on how you use taunts in AoF to deplete your opponent’s spirit meter.
That damn car in Fighter’s Mega Mix lol
I LOVED playing Servbot in MvC2 i just thought he was hilarious and broken as he was waaaaaaaaaay to small but his animations and supers i found really funny as a kid still do today. I don't think Hsien-Ko counts as a joke character but found her like one. Adon in SF4 was my go to Joke character just to annoy my bro and sis as i could somehow beat them with their Mains adding insult to injury hahahahahaaha.
7:04 The Shin Goji reference for Neco Arc is the funniest thing I've seen this week
This is the first time ive seen you talk about Melty Blood. You should play it more often especially AACC.
Wait... a Fighting game "joke character" list... and Hercule not on it? 🤔🤔🤔... yeeaaahh, im uh need a part 2 to this Mr Crofts 😁👊🏾
you forgot phoenix wright from umvc3 we can say he is a joke character too
He is
I don’t watch your videos a lot, but when I do, it’s always a good time
If they make another MvC game, Norimaro needs to be the twist villain and cite his exclusion from the other games as his reason for being the antagonist
Well his ending did have him ruling the world with an iron fist so...
There's Ushii the cow from Fighters Destiny 1 from the N64! And Robert, the dummy robot too. I love that game lmao

Joke characters that I like :
Sandbag in Smash Flash 2 is pretty much Bonuskun in Smash although none of his moves were taken from somewhere else.
Talking about Norimaru in MSHvSF; what about Anita in her only playable appearance?
yeah train stage
Well... yes.
JM Combat Club, love the AEW reference! That's sick
norimaro was the best thing in that game, especially ultra variety private memories
the best joke characters when their OP, or functional piranha plant in smash with the Einstein trigonometry spike ball shots , Neko Arc is pretty legit in Lumina, chair g tables winning 2nd place at a big tournament with Chair Person in Project Justice
I just love lowain and his stupid supers
Rain in Mortal Kombat. He was originally made just for the demostration screen of Mortal Kombat 3 and as a reference to song "Purple rain".
Remember that Dan is like a normal fighter and will kick your ass, he’s only weak in comparison to the other characters
neco arc uses a excalibur from saber made of neco arcs, and that is just freaking amazing ahhahaha
Explain please how they're dominant?
@@philithegamer8265 It's a lot of different factors, but from what I can gather as an intermediate SG player, Fukua is the best all-arounder and one of the only characters with ranged grabs and launchers, plus a very good divekick so she can start a combo from any position,
Robo Fortune I'm less familiar with, but her projectiles being near-instant, having a wall-bounce normal, and the highest damaging super in the game probably play a role.
Gundam Battle Operation had the Ball, a tiny floating coffin with a gun on top in a game full of giant robots.
Small hitbox and really fast normals made him lethal in the right hands.
