this was very interesting to me because my grandfather at one point guarded FDR at the little white house. according to the story he told us when their shift was up he would tell them not to go and would make them drinks all night

In_The_Kitchen_With_Katie some small town still blow the sirens for every fire call, maybe why the traffic was backed up on his way out of town

You might want to give your van a health check. that tire was very low. you do drive a lot.

Specifically, noon on Wednesday. Old civil defense protocol for testing. We even have places in the SF Bay Area that still do this. Which always made me wonder - if an *actual* emergency happened on Wednesday at noon, and the sirens went off, would anyone notice??
My town still does siren tests but ours are at 10am Tuesday. The tests are at like 1/4 volume though so if it were real, you certainly would know it.
I expected to see a long shot to the edge of town where herds of Walkers are seen to be shambling in the street!
I loved the statement "What the heck have I wondered in to? This town is moderately terrifying!"

Some small towns have a noon siren that goes off everyday.

I live in a tiny farming community and back in the 30's. To the 90's it was a booming little town. The noon siren was sounded everyday to let th workers in the fields it was lunch time. Now it goes off just for tradition sake.
On a side not main drag has 50's music playing 24 hours a day. We're like a time capsule stuck in time.

So amazing to see the actual furniture (and even the toilet paper!) of FDR's home. And in a way, humbling. We will all be gone one day and to see the evidence of a life fully lived is a reminder to make a difference while you can. Really good stuff, brother.

It was really cool that you went through Senoia, Georgia, but was there sign near by telling you not to film across the coffee shop, because that's where the current filming location of The Walking Dead Season 8 is being filmed right now or also known as Alexandria. Also, the Woodbury Shoppe, did you see some of the actual props downstairs? That entire city of Senoia was known as Woodbury and filmed in Season 3! Great place to visit!

Yes sir that's exactly what I was thinking and here in Southwest Ohio in Brown county we still covered Bridges that look just like this. I think five maybe six covered Bridges to be exact that are still crossed by cars and trucks every single day. I love the old Bridges and actually they are historical landmarks here in this county. There are 1 or two of them that nobody ever uses but you can get out and walk across them. They have built new Bridges right next to the ones you can't cross. Let's see we have the old mcafferty covered bridge. We have the new hope covered bridge. We have the eagle Creek covered bridge. And the other two or three I can't remember the names but they are still here. I think the new hope covered bridge is the only one that not in use anymore.

In case you were serious about not knowing what the siren was, it sounds like it was a fire whistle. I'm from Clearfield, PA and if there is a fire, those sirens go off. It also goes off at 6:00 on Sunday. Every Sunday. There have been times where I've been 5-10 miles out of town and can still hear the fire whistle going off. I could be wrong considering I'm not from that town. But in the small town where I live, that siren usually means there is a fire.

It used to be for everytime there was a fire!
Every Wednesday in Columbus Ohio at 12:00 pm ours go off
Not a fire: It was an accident involving an overturned cement truck.

Where I live ours are tornado sirens and they test them every Wednesday at noon.

It may also be going off as result of the accident he drove up on. Kind of sounded like there were two going off. Maybe they called for mutual aid from another Department.

In Georgia they test the sirens on a Wednesday!
You still need to come to Cartersville and visit Euharlee and Emerson.
In Minnesota they test siren the first Wednesday of every month.
+ComicwithIssues Its usually the first Wednesday here too but they've been slacking here lately.
Here in Oklahoma....they usually test them every Saturday at noon unless the weather is not good....or after a big tornado they may take a few weeks off. I live in Moore so have been through some very big tornadoes
Where I live in Georgia they test them every wed @ 11:30.

because these vlogs aren't about one subject like the original channel was . This channel is an evolution on what Ive done every day . Format has always been the same just a lot more intense now . Switching over would be way too confusing and break the streak . This is where I upload now

The siren was for the first responders ( fire , Rescue) for that over turned Cement truck. Small towns use them as we do here in VA where I live but mostly for major events.
