Damn right. Why would anyone feel guilty? The show was hilarious! One of my favorite shows growing up. Maybe because it's so politically incorrect today, people are afraid to like it.
Ive watched Married with Children on TV for years. It has aired on cable TV channels, non cable channels and now I can enjoy the show on DVD and Amazon video streaming. Eventhough I've watched the show for years I have not even come close to seeing every episode. I've seen a majority of the classic episodes from the 80's and early 90's though.

We even named our dumb cat, Kelly.... HEHEHE!!!! Many times during the last weeks of my spouse's life (she had breast cancer among other problems).... Marcy's house was next door, not across the street. We know this because several episodes showed that they shared a backyard fence -- the one where the ashes of Marcy's dead relative, who Steve hated, accidentally get put in Al's grill before he cooks the burgers for his 4th of July barbecue is just one example.
But on the other hand, there were several episodes where the Bundy's are inside their house looking out the little windows in the front door looking at the Rhoad's house that, because of the Bundy's garage, could only be seen if it was across the street.
But remember the Apple Branch episode which is directly next door and they were destroying each other's houses next door when the Darcy set up a toll booth in als driveway or I should say the Darcy's driveway according to the property line
BobvanKay nicely played!. it looks like an average working class neighborhood. up until the late 70s a retail job could provide salary, health insurance, and a stable living for a family.

This was my favorite show on TV at that time. I still enjoy watching the re-runs when I catch them from time to time. Big thumbs up for doing the Married With Children locations!
Also, Adam, imagine what it's like to be watching TV INSIDE the actual Married with Children house when an episode of MWC come on! That must be totally mind blowing!!
have you ever tried to figure out the layout of that house? if that door is the front, that means the glass sliding door behind the couch is on the side of the house. they have another sliding door in the kitchen. Makes for an odd layout. I think there is another door I've seen them go out that would be on the same side as the fridge, is actually hidden by the fridge.
I used graph paper to draw the interior layout. It doesn't match the exterior. Looking at the house, face-on. Outside, the front door faces the street. Inside the house, the front door is on the right, but still on the same side of the car port. (The car port isn't brick, when shown close-up, either). Outside the house, the car port is on the right side of the house, facing towards the street. However, inside the house, the carport faces to the right, that would mean the door opened into Marcy's yard. Also, the back yard was oriented slightly differently in a couple of episodes. (I've been binge watching it, lately, so it's fresh in my memory.)
I have been finding myself needing a cup of coffee by mid-afternoon. I always find once the time change comes it messes me up for a few days or about a week then I am fine. I always used to love Married With Children. I did not realize it was filmed in Chicago. How cool! So many great things happened there and it is so neat to learn of histories of towns and cities.

Great video man! Who else still watches or listens to Married with Children ? I know I do. Also, I believe the studio version of the home is the one with the window on the side.
The show was filmed on a sound stage. The house you visited was only used for the open credits or any scenes showing the outside front of house. that's why the interior shots are a completely different layout than the house from opening scenes looks Windows in different places, walk way to door, the garage things like that. the rhodes/darcys lived next door not across the street. love the video thanks for posting
Yeah, it was only filmed for exteriors. Like the aerial scene of Southfork Ranch on Dallas - that was just a scene of the ranch shown for the intro. The actual scenes filmed elsewhere. I've been to Southfork ranch that was then located in an unicorporated area of Plano, TX (since then annexed into the City of Parker) which is a Dallas suburb. My wife and I had our photo taken in front of the huge gate by a security guy in the guardshack back in 1981,
Also, even shots that featured closeups from outside facing the front door, would have been done with an onstage mockup of that portion of the exterior.... After all, they were not likely to fly actors out the actual house location just to film/tape them entering the house.... Even narrative dramas (for instance, 'Breaking Bad') use mockups when filming most closeup shots of the outside of the house..... Conditions of lighting and weather are so much easier to deal with, as is the avoidance of having to move equipment and personnel to and from the location, ..
Yeah, I remember a scene of Married With Children that was actually filmed outdoors, and was supposed to be in Wisconsin (the scene was a parody of the final scene of the movie Eight Men Out); but you could see mountains in the background, so that scene was probably filmed in Santa Clarita or Canyon Country

ima die hard fan... i currently live in canada and also love to explore show scenes shooting locations. in some shows, they make it seem as if the location smaller or bigger than real life. Did you see 'Vacation' the 2015 sequel to the National Lampoon vacation series? It wasn't as good as the originals, but they had gown up Rusty Griswold taking his family on a similar trip. The funny thing is that they had Christina Applegate playing his wife.Sadly she wasn't playing Kelly Bundy. I think they missed the comedic chance of a lifetime in not having Rusty grow up to Marry Kelly, and have Griswold/Bundy little devils. They even had Chevy Chase and the lady that played Ellen Griswold make guest appearances as the grandparents.Throw elderly Al and Peg into the equation, and it would have been perfect :P
richiefranklin76. Too bad they won't have another National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with the original cast. That would be worth it. Clark & Ellen would be the grandparents this time.
@Hollyweeds Lol yep. If you ever do see the new Vacation movie just pretend Christina is playing Kelly. The kids in Vacation would be believable as Bundy offspring too. the older brother is an awkward, wimpy, loser that has trouble around women. Guess he's a lot like uncle Bud. :P And the little brother bullys the older brother,is a delinquent, and all around spawn of satan. Guess he takes more after his mama Kelly hehe.
@Roger Smith of Paradigm City I agree they really should do that, before Chevy Chase and the woman that plays his wife passes away. And of course don't forget cousin Eddy and the rest of the dysfunctional family.
There is something about Chicago that fits Adam so well. I dunno why but I see him enjoying this city so much more if he could stay a while to enjoy an Italian beef and maybe attend a few shows. I can see him enjoying many of our random events of movies in the park and taking a water taxi through the middle of downtown.
You can't go wrong starting the day with some Adam the Woo including drone footage from the majestic, a brief visit from Arnold, and all those memories of The Bundy's. Such a classic show. Awesome vlog today!
I'll never forget that show, because my boss introduced it to me. He said one day at work, "Have you heard of 'Married with Children'"? "No", I replied. "It just came out, but you should watch it. It's an almost exact representation of my life!!" So, the next week when a new episode came out, I did watch it. I went back to work utterly horrified, and felt sorry for my boss ever since. :-)
It was my father who introduced me to Married With Children. And it didn’t hurt that my father looked a lot like Al Bundy. Coincidence...I think not. 😛
dude, I never noticed the window you said wasn't there so after I watched you I looked up the opening theme I saw what you were talking about. love your blog
The front porch was different also. When you walked out the front door, there was a half wall with bushes on top and you had to turn to the right to get out.
I was hoping you would spend a lil time I Indianapolis but I was stoked to see the Married with Children house to put it mildly, I loved that show too.
I've been sick for almost 2 months straight. Your videos really pick me up man, thank you. Also, I think that was a statue of St. Michael on the side of that building
Really love these videos. Being very young when these shows came it. They feel like forever ago. But when you do the side by side shots. Its kinda cool to see how much has changed. But also stayed the same.
Marcy made it very clear she was a republican, like the time she told a freezing Kelly & Bud that she couldn't help them because she was a republican. Her hardcore feminist activities were probably just to annoy Al. Speaking of Al, he might've been a misogynist who hated the french and the system but ultimately I doubt he would've been down with Trump's entire rhetoric. He was no Archie Bunker.
A shoe salesman with two kids and a wife that didn't work wouldn't have been able to afford that house. The property taxes alone would be more than his salary and commissions.
Can you think of any American sitcom or TV show where people do NOT live in detached houses? True, in many cases they seem to take place in the burbs where probably most people have their own houses. But I also think it's more convenient for them to shoot.
Grandpa Grumpy and me had wedding pictures taken in front of that fountain in 1983. We stayed at the old Congress Hotel overlooking the park. You should visit that big old cemetery with all the famous people of Chicago....very interesting stuff. Thanks for the memories today Adam!
@@robertpreston2220 Beefs used to be lots better. Still have great cheeseburgers tho. And some locations now have gyros. They are actually pretty good. Try the ones at DesPlaines and Roosevelt.
@@rds990 I was actually at that one in Forest Park this weekend as I was visiting people in that area and one of them gave me a Portillos gift card as they did not want it. SO I went to that location asked for extra gravy on the beef and they verified they did and when I got home the beef was bone dry! Fries were cold too
I tend to believe your comment than to say that the whole show was shot at this location in this house. I think you can say that about all the tv shows. They just used this house for the intro to show that they lived in city of Chicago. According to Wikipedia: *The first two seasons of the series were videotaped at ABC Television Center in Hollywood. From season three to season eight, the show was taped at Sunset Gower Studios in Hollywood, and the remaining three seasons were taped at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City. The series was produced by Embassy Communications during its first season and half of its second season and the remaining seasons by ELP Communications under the studio Columbia Pictures Television.*
Your right, and this knucklehead making the vid really thinks the show was entirely shot here. 😂😂😂 And most of the dumb commentators on here think the same , to the point of arguing which house was Marcy.
What I always love in what you do is the way you can put the TVs/movie shots against the now! My life has literally changed!!! Especially when we're talking back to the future! You are the only one who has done the now! You are majestic!!
Thankyou for that amazing piece - I loved that show MWC - Way back then - it was on @ 11oClock thursday night - as I recall ! - it was one of those shows in the UK it would start & stop ! - if something like a football match say - that would be shown instead ! - Then MWC it would start again -But it would miss episodes - We never got the full deal - But I loved the show I have followed the Actors through years since don't know much about the son - but ted took up martial arts his TV wife became a biker chick in another series + kelly the poor woman has had nothing but trouble through her life but proved also to be a fighter
I loved this Married with children is one of my all time favorite shows! There is actually a practical reason that the Darcy's lived next door rather than across the street. When they filmed in the studio the sets had to be built side by side they could not have been built across the road from each other as that was where the cameras were and possibly a studio audience.
Christina Applegate made it clear she does not want to do a reunion show. Ed O' Neal said that since she doesn't want to do this he doesn't either. Listen to emmytvlegends.org interview with Ed.
I have a current neighbor who lived in that neighborhood growing up during the show's popularity. The residents know full well that house is the Bundy house, and a lot of photos have been taken, a lot of stopped cars. It used to happen almost daily back in the day, according to him. Now, people just don't care too much.
Mike Minnick I used to live there. Not when they were filming, although my building is in the background in one of the scenes. I do have to say though the best time is to go on Feb. 2 as the town goes all out to celebrate the movie filming. The theater shows the movie for free all day long, they do their own groundhog prognostication, they do a guided walking tour of locations with someone who worked on the movie, all sorts of things.
2 to 3 hours are you on crack? it doesn't take that long even during rush hour. once you're past O'Hare it moves just fine and its only 47 miles away. richiefranklin76. Too bad they won't have another National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation with the original cast. That would be worth it. Clark & Ellen would be the grandparents this time.
@Hollyweeds
Lol yep.
If you ever do see the new Vacation movie just pretend Christina is playing Kelly.
The kids in Vacation would be believable as Bundy offspring too.
the older brother is an awkward, wimpy, loser that has trouble around women.
Guess he's a lot like uncle Bud. :P
And the little brother bullys the older brother,is a delinquent, and all around spawn of satan.
Guess he takes more after his mama Kelly hehe.
@Roger Smith of Paradigm City
I agree they really should do that, before Chevy Chase and the woman that plays his wife passes away.
And of course don't forget cousin Eddy and the rest of the dysfunctional family.
This might be my favorite vlog since California days. Love Married with Children
Chicago loves you Adam! Why not stay awhile? You're always welcome!
I agree so much! There's something really great about Adam in Chicago.
yes! stop by superdog or gene & jude's or portillos! man. i'm hungry now.
I think the main reason he's back is to return the rental car used to visit his sister.
+Scarlett Whisperer ASMR no, it's quiet down. It was only at Trump tower downtown.
You can't go wrong starting the day with some Adam the Woo including drone footage from the majestic, a brief visit from Arnold, and all those memories of The Bundy's. Such a classic show. Awesome vlog today!
"Hey man , don't Bundy that book"
you need to go up into sears tower
adamthewoo have you done the home alone movie since its in Chicago? Or the house is atleast
Al Bundy is my hero. I mean come on, 4 touchdowns in a single game?
adamthewoo How about some Ferris Buellers Day Off locations?
Not sure if you just mean the Chicago locations, but he did the actual Ferris Bueller home not too long ago. It's in LA.
brightened up a miserable afternoon in Oldham UK thanks
Across the street? In one episode, Al and Jefferson are fighting over property lines next door. Hmm
Hey Woo! Loved this one. thanks for showing me, i appreciate you xx
I'll never forget that show, because my boss introduced it to me. He said one day at work, "Have you heard of 'Married with Children'"? "No", I replied. "It just came out, but you should watch it. It's an almost exact representation of my life!!"
So, the next week when a new episode came out, I did watch it. I went back to work utterly horrified, and felt sorry for my boss ever since. :-)
was your boss a shoe salesman? HA HA
It was my father who introduced me to Married With Children. And it didn’t hurt that my father looked a lot like Al Bundy. Coincidence...I think not. 😛
another MASTERPIECE!!! thank you ADAM!!! keep up the great stuff!!
Adam awesome memories from that show, wow thanks.
Thanks Adam another fun and adventurous filled vlog!!! Thanks as always great stuff!!! Got my daily WOO fix, stay safe out there!!!!😀
dude, I never noticed the window you said wasn't there so after I watched you I looked up the opening theme I saw what you were talking about. love your blog
thanks Jody
The front porch was different also. When you walked out the front door, there was a half wall with bushes on top and you had to turn to the right to get out.
The front door area was the set in the studio, not the actual front door of the house.
Dude, that was awesome. Thanks for filming and sharing!
I was hoping you would spend a lil time I Indianapolis but I was stoked to see the Married with Children house to put it mildly, I loved that show too.
You rock! I'm sure that some family members have watched every episode and know word for word what there next line is
Put a dot of bright colored paint or nail polish on your sd card so if it happens again you can easily spot it 😊
Literally been watching every episode on Hulu right now , on season 6 ! Favorite sitcom probably ever. Brings back memories of the good old days
I've been sick for almost 2 months straight. Your videos really pick me up man, thank you. Also, I think that was a statue of St. Michael on the side of that building
And… I loved MwC, wouldn’t miss it every Sunday.
Ah, Adam! That was my hometown, thanks for some memories. Yes, that is a big fountain.
Really love these videos. Being very young when these shows came it. They feel like forever ago. But when you do the side by side shots. Its kinda cool to see how much has changed. But also stayed the same.
Marcy Darcy would not be happy with the election but Al would
Marcy made it very clear she was a republican, like the time she told a freezing Kelly & Bud that she couldn't help them because she was a republican. Her hardcore feminist activities were probably just to annoy Al. Speaking of Al, he might've been a misogynist who hated the french and the system but ultimately I doubt he would've been down with Trump's entire rhetoric. He was no Archie Bunker.
I sit corrected
Keep in mind he endorsed Obama
Marcy started the show as a Republican, then became liberal after her divorce from Steve.
Al was apolitical. He hated all politicians.
Married with Children was a great show. This was so cool 😁 Thanks for sharing!!
A shoe salesman with two kids and a wife that didn't work wouldn't have been able to afford that house. The property taxes alone would be more than his salary and commissions.
izhevsk1943 well you do remember Gary’s Sweat shop working kids made more than Al
That's what they do. I doubt a lifeguard would be able to afford a huge house on the canals in Venice Beach either. (Baywatch)
... well it was a fictional tv show.
What commissions!? 😂😂
Thanks for the memories today Adam!
you should've knocked on the door, and asked if Kelly's home, when they ask who's calling, you answer "Bugs"
Awesome find. One of my favorite shows from back in the day
Check out Portillo's while you're there. You won't be disappointed.
Not as good as it used to be
@@robertpreston2220 Exactly right. And Portillo's beefs are very "middle of the road" as far as many of the places. "It's OK".
@@rds990 Just ok is not good enough for what they charge
@@robertpreston2220 Beefs used to be lots better. Still have great cheeseburgers tho. And some locations now have gyros. They are actually pretty good. Try the ones at DesPlaines and Roosevelt.
@@rds990 I was actually at that one in Forest Park this weekend as I was visiting people in that area and one of them gave me a Portillos gift card as they did not want it. SO I went to that location asked for extra gravy on the beef and they verified they did and when I got home the beef was bone dry! Fries were cold too
Great vlog! And to know that family truckster from Vacation is in the opening credit of Married With Children...very cool easter egg.
2:15 That's so cool! Fun Vlog Mr. the Woo! Xo-K 💖
I'm a huge married with children fan. This is a big treat for me
When Homer met Al. Al: "let me get this straight. pardon my expression."
i REALLY enjoyed this one ADAM. IM CURRENTLY WATCHING THE WHOLE SERIES ON DVD. ITS ALOT OF EPISODES AND BELLY LAUGHS!
They didnt actually shoot any scenes in this house . It was just used in the intro. They shot everything in a Fake stage created room and door.
Thank you. I loved this show. I had no idea of the Vacation connection. You are a wealth of information.
"chocolate cake, hooters?..chocolate cake, hooters?"........"Hey Jefferson....choco-hooters"😂
Hey Jefferson when is Marcy getting her feathers plucked
Choco cake choco cake eat so much you get a tummy ache
Hey, it's almost time for an episode of MWC to come on! Now, lemme see, uh...where'd I put my Channel Master 2000?
I think you might have something there.
Have to watch the intro of married with children now. Awesome stuff Adam
Buy orange glitter nail polish and paint the SD card so you can easily spot it.
Thanks for doing all that, it's really great seeing all that .
YEEEAAH BUNDY Well done Adam
Most excellent sleuth-work! I hope you will dig out more film locations. This is really cool.
Mr. Woo in Chi-Town. I love it!
What I always love in what you do is the way you can put the TVs/movie shots against the now! My life has literally changed!!! Especially when we're talking back to the future! You are the only one who has done the now! You are majestic!!
Welcome back to Chicago! 🚗🚗
Hahahaa! That parking timing was awesome! Awesome vlog. What else you have planned for chitown?
Hopefully nothing. Adam said he was going to be going different places and this is his second trip to Chicago lately...
Thankyou for that amazing piece - I loved that show MWC - Way back then - it was on @ 11oClock thursday night - as I recall ! - it was one of those shows in the UK it would start & stop ! - if something like a football match say - that would be shown instead ! - Then MWC it would start again -But it would miss episodes - We never got the full deal - But I loved the show
I have followed the Actors through years since don't know much about the son - but ted took up martial arts his TV wife became a biker chick in another series + kelly the poor woman has had nothing but trouble through her life but proved also to be a fighter
Thankyou once again Adam ! all the very best !
I loved this Married with children is one of my all time favorite shows! There is actually a practical reason that the Darcy's lived next door rather than across the street. When they filmed in the studio the sets had to be built side by side they could not have been built across the road from each other as that was where the cameras were and possibly a studio audience.
They should do a reunion show, Like they did with Full House!!!
Will you be heading out to Woodstock, IL to do the Groundhog Day locations? You're about 2-3 hours drive, depends on time of day and traffic.
FarfalleAlfredo so help me God he better be going there. I've been to both Woodstock and Punsutawney. and Woodstock is far superior
And in case you come back with the response like the normal youtube viewer of knowing all i do the drive from Chicago every day 5 days week for the last 15 years
Yes, it does take that long, even more during rush hour. You're lying if you say you make that trip in less. I live 45 minutes from Woodstock and 1.5 hours from Chicago....using the tollway...unless you're doing about 120mph.
You blew my ****ing mind with the family truckster in the opening credits. Wooow!
I thought the Darcy's lived next door this was awesome
you're right, I was mistaken
adamthewoo Glad you're back in Chicago to discover more TV gold, Adam. Loved your "Perfect Strangers" and "Family Matters" coverage. Fun related fact: Did you know "Family Matters" was a spin-off of "Perfect Strangers"? A lot of people don't know those shows are directly related.
northhankspin ... I thought it was across the street as well, I remember on the episode where his car rolled out of the driveway and hit the Darcy's sports car across the street
it was parked on the street there is countless episodes stating they are next door..
Adam, Marcy lived across the street in a few episodes. It was a story line goof by the writers! You're all good as usual! Thanks!
That on ramp at the beginning was in the beginning of Married with Children. Very cool.
be careful Adam its a jungle out there!
I enjoyed Bundy family during my junior high on until show ended days. As an adult now this is super neat. Thank you Mr. TheDailyWoo
God I loved Peggy
She was great on Sons Of Anarchy as Gemma Teller (the actress, not the character)
oh aL...
She was also a back up singer for Fleetwood Mac
Peggy walks like a T-rex.
love your filming locations. great job again.
7:35 w serialu nie tylko było okna przy drzwiach, ale również nie było tam flagi
Great vlog love that show still to this day.
It’s been 11 years since I visited Chicago... anyone know the minimum amount of mug cash to carry? It was $15.
The last I heard it was 50 cents... anymore that in your pocket... you will be ARRESTED and CHARGED with DEALING DRUGS on the streets of CHICAGO.... lol😅😅😅😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
The coolest video I've watched so far today. Good job!
