I like the drawings by Kurt on the walls of Frances bedroom. I imagine this grim month of March 94 when Kurt came back from Europe. The only month he really lived in this house. And what a sordid photo taken from Viretta Park on a rainy day after his death ! It gives the legend a strange atmosphere.....
Everything about kurt around that time has a very weird energy about it, maybe because he was at the peak of his addictions and at the verge of ending his life. Very creepy stuff
I went to a party at that house around 2000. My girlfriend at the time worked for the Cancer Care Alliance and was invited...I was the plus 1. What was cool was the owner told me they had changed a lot of the house but kept a wall unchanged (if I remember right it was by the kitchen) where Courtney had kept track of of Bean and a friends height as they grew. She also marked her height and wrote, Mommy Love
@@Anna-hb8mo It was so long ago I don't remember all that much. I didn't go upstairs. Besides the How Tall Chart, I remember a nice view from a large window. It seems like it was the dining room or living room. It looked out over a downward sloped landscape and way off in the distance water...Lake Washington? I remember liking the view and wondered if Kurt did too.
Great stuff here. 👍 Loved the history and old pics of the place. Beautiful house. Didn't realize his time there was so brief, i wonder if the ghosts of the place finally pushed Kurt over the edge like a Jack Torrance kind of deal.
I visited a couple of years back and the gates to the house were open. I should have ventured in ... I was also fortunate enough to be in the smells like teen spirit video. Early fan
@@xavier_l_l man you are soo lucky. You lived in a time where things were raw , real. I was only born 12 years after cobain had died and only TODAY I actually BECAME a fan of nirvana. I know I’m late but Im catching up on absolutely everything

from what I have read they hardly had any furniture besides the essentials like bed, couch, table, chairs, etc. They never really even unpacked their shit from the time they moved in in January and the time Courtney moved out after Kurt's suicide later that year

He died there, but he barely lived there. They bought the house on January 18th 1994. Kurt went on Tour Feb 4th until returning to Seattle on March 11th. He stayed in dumpy motels rooms until around March 18th. March 25th he has an intervention and went to rehab on March 30th.
So sad kurt didnt fully enjoy his fame and fortune he didnt realize how blessed he was he couldve just gave courtney what she wanted and made small steps secretly like a will or divorce papers and ran away as far as he can like in irelamd and do whatever he wants but he thpught of frances that he loved dearly..
When I went there in 2010 there were some kids playing in the driveway and could easily look right over top the fence next to where the greenhouse was. I felt bad for the people living there having no privacy with people lingering all over the place.
Always thought that western hemlock (our state tree btw) was stately but its legit considered old growth judging it looks ~100+ years ago in the photo 100 years ago
The greenhouse had a beautiful view of lake Washington and the Seattle greenery. I doubt kurt’s heroin fuelled state would have allowed him to care, but I’d like to think he had a beautiful view of the world before he grabbed that gun
@stalkingseattle4430 for some reason I thought it was longer, thanks for clarifying. Poor guy man, he went thru so much in such a short amount of time. Thank you for this video.
So I was in the right place. Ive gone there twice but wasn't 100 percent sure it was the right place. The only difference is that part of the back of the bench is missing now. It had a bunch of cool stuff carved into it so someone stole it for that.
After the death of her husband, she immediately began dating other famous people in the industry. And everyone of them ended up dumping her and saying negative things about her.
@The_Crow78. Seriously sad to say, Kurt's daughter looks a little off 😢 I recently seen a interview and she pretty but she has a scary look in her eyes 👀

Awesome video, thank you. I visited this house back in 2007 from Australia I could hardly believe I was there. So surreal.
I still miss Kurt. Whatever happened that day should never have happened.
All the while Courtney Love benefited the most out of this mess. She married him to become famous, and later got rid of him to become rich.
What a beautiful home. I could see being very comfortable there. My kind of place.
must have been a mayor effort to make this video and gather all of this documentation. thank you so much for doing this

Yeah man me2
I definitely felt something eerie looking at the photo of inside the greenhouse before it was torn down.

I visited in March of 2020 just before Covid got bad, the property is beautiful. I wrote my name on Kurt’s bench.
I really like the facade that Courtney put back on the house. That was a nice touch. I understand why she had the greenhouse torn down.
