    I don’t have the pattern, but when you were talking about the confusion with side seams and belt, I’m wondering if that pattern is like others where when they told you to stitch the side seams they were referring to a view that did not have the belt. Then when you go down to the next section where you deal with the belt they are referring to a different view. Usually they will note the views as you move through the instructions and then sometimes tell you for a specific view to go to Step whatever that picks back up. I’ve seen this a lot with collars, sleeves, and cuffs. Some views have steps that others don’t. The dress looks amazing on you. Your neckband is lovely. You did such a nice job that I would consider finishing the slits just to elevate it to the ultimate! It is beautiful.

    I've had this pattern for a while now but haven't figured out what to make it in...now I want a tye-dye one! Such a perfect dress. I don't think the darts are needed and I'm happy to have the neckband heads-up.

    • @SimplyDelilah
      @SimplyDelilah  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I love the tie dye! I also think strips would be really cute!

    • @bethbenjamin7180
      @bethbenjamin7180 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ok…I’m making up the dress now in a stripe like you suggested as I couldn’t find a tie-die that suited me. It’s going to be so cute! I also omitted the back darts because….why….but I realized something with the instructions. The reason they tell you to stitch the side seams and then make the tie is because step 4 is for view A, which has no waist ties. Not their best organization in my opinion…but that’s why step 8 is also to stitch the side seams, but this time with the waist ties in place.

      @SimplyDelilah  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@bethbenjamin7180 well that would make sense! i'm sure the striped dress would be so cute!

    Delilah, great review on this pattern. You look great in this dress. You should make one for every day of the week. I've seen videos where the ties are added after side seams are sewn and I've thought it was strange way to do it.
    I guess it's personal preference. I think DBP would be hot in the summer, you don't think it is?

    Thanks for this review/advice. I have this pattern and I’ve just opened it and for View A you sew the side seams early on but View B with the ties, you sew the ties on first. I think you read the pattern for View A not View B. Good call on the facing though. 👍

  • @barbarag-s265

    I have just found your channel, it looks very informative. I made view B of this dress in March 2021 and love it. Like you I made my own neckband. I made it in a heavier weight knit than your version and hacked the sleeves to wrist length, March is still cold where I live. I made a size 10 and put the darts in because they gave me a better fit (I'm rather scrawny and this dress actually made me look as though I had a great shape!) Regarding your confusion over sewing the side seams, it seems you did not read the instructions closely. Version A has no tie belt and the pattern instruction for this version tell you just to sew the side seams, after this comes the instructions for Version B, which tells you to place the tie before sewing the side seams.

    Delilah...you look so pretty in that dress. Great job! The belt gives you more of a waist because it causes a "break" in your vision as you pan down. I can relate as I'm the same build and 5'9". Hey Delilah, this dress is so flattering and perfect for spring/summer! I noticed you mentioned a few times that you hemmed it with your walking foot, does the walking foot help keep the fabric from stretching as you sew? Or is there another reason why you chose that? I recently made the megan nielsen hovea coat (meant for quilting cotton) with a pre quilted fabric that unknowingly had a slight stretch and when adding bias tape the fabric stretched around the neckline and armholes so I was wondering if the walking foot would help? 💖🧡

    • @SimplyDelilah
      @SimplyDelilah  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      hi..the walking foot helps out so much because it pushed the knit fabric through very evenly without stretchingit....and i put the stitch lenght to a 3
