Oh, I love this dress! You did a lovely job on it, and I bet you'll get a lot of wear out of it. It looks great on you. I agree it doesn't really need the belt. It's always great to learn about another good PDF patter source!
I used a lighter interfacing for my belt, and actually interfaced the entire belt. I found this gave it more stability, and kept its shape better when worn. 6:21
Your dress! Me likey! You look great in your new knit maxi! I agree! Since the back seam isn't used for shaping, I think it's not necessary unless to save fabric like as in pattern layout. Also , I really like the idea of the clear elastic and your finish came out so clean!!
Your maxi looks gorgeous on you, Delilah! Interfacing the belt confuses me. Maybe a baby weight interfacing would work. What I want to try if I make this pattern is an Obi style belt. I suppose that could be called a statement too, yes? Especially if I added some beads or jewels to it. I have lots left over from my jewelry making days.
Your dress looks great! Would you line the bodice in the future? I couldn't figure out why that would be needed except maybe to hold up the long skirt 🤷
Looove it!❤💋 of course Ellie and Mac is probably my favorite company because when I really started sewing for myself I started there! Possible hint😉 If you remember my turquoise dress my sister said is my perfect dress.. it's the wrapped in love!❤ I think the back seam is for someone like me that has a sway back? Idk if I did the back seam? I'll have to look tomorrow? But you look fantastic as always it looks good either way belt or not, I'd say whichever is more comfortable 😊 I need to make a dress for the maxi challenge!❤
This dress suits so well... I actually agree that it looks very good without the belt.. the site line is a bit more continuous making you look quite tall :) question.. I have been putting off sewing this pattern as I was a bit concerned about the slit opening too far when walking or sitting... do you think that it needs a tack down to keep it contained or its fine without it?
They recommend sewing it down about 8 inches so you can just sew down as much as you are comfortable with…Becasue yes it will flip open with the breeze….but it doesn’t come open when u are just walking. It’s a fun dress and I see what you are saying I look more slimming without the belt

Lovely dress. I made this last year for the #sewmaxifirmothersfay challenge as well.
That’s great! Are you making a dress this year too?
Your dress looks great! Would you line the bodice in the future? I couldn't figure out why that would be needed except maybe to hold up the long skirt 🤷
Yes I would definitely line it Because then you don’t have to add a neck binding… it just gives it a different look.
Very pretty
