- Every sewist needs at least one TNT Pattern. It's a pattern that has been perfected to fit your body. In this video I share the benefits of having a TNT Pattern and show you some of the dresses I've sewn with my favorite TNT, McCall's 7531. I also demonstrate how I take one dress and style it for different occasions. Then I share a bit of inspiration to help get you thinking about what you can do with McCall's 7531 by showing some of the pieces I've sewn with the pattern.

I'm so glad your channel came in my recommendations. My mom taught me how to sew for repairs, and such, but I took it to different level and began to make clothes for my dolls using old clothing. A neighbor taught me how to crochet when I was 11 and I made my first purse with fringes! No patterns, I just designed it like I wanted. I learned how to sew with a machine in Home Ec. in Junior high school! Wow, was my mind blown. The first thing I made in school was a t-shirt with an embroidered design on it, so I learned how to embroider also! My mom bought my first sewing machine from Montgomery Wards. I would go to Woolworth's and Kresge's to buy patterns and material. I still have everything I ever made, except the doll clothes, of course! I don't sew or do other crafting any more, because of discouragements, frustrations and financial events over the course of growing up. I always wanted a workshop to work in and open a business one day. Watching you has sparked a fire back into my spirit. I thank God for leading me to your channel. You are inspiration I believe God gave me to follow my dream of crafting and sewing and selling my wares. I have a lot of creative juice in me that I have pushed into a corner. Sorry for such a long post, but when you are led by God, you can't hide it under a bush. Thank you, once again. I am 50-something too, tee hee. 🥰

Ms. Anita you should be a run way model!💜 I loved all the dresses that you shared. I shop at Michael Levine's from time to time, they now have a remnant table and I've purchased a few knits. I wasn't quite sure what to do with them but now after watching your video I think I'll try this pattern. Thank you for sharing & being an inspiration. I just turned 50 a few months ago, & felt that sewing is just not for me😭. And you're right in saying never give up. Although I don't make garments, I've made a variety of tote bags & blankets. Yes, I saw the remnants table shortly after the Loft closed. I sure do miss the Loft, although I don't buys lots of fabric anymore. Really trying to work through what I already have. Keep sewing those tote bags and blankets, especially if it makes you happy.

OoooWeee! You don't know how badly I wish I could sit with you in person and have a sister chat. Let me tell you something. Often, when we feel like we're not good enough, it's associated with our thoughts on what others will think of us. I'm speaking from experience. For years, I allowed my decisions to be somewhat guided by what I thought others wanted or would think of me. When I learned that what people think of me is none of my business, the heavens opened up and it was GAME ON! My Jesus is who I aim to please. Anyone who doesn't like what I do, who I am, or how I walk, needs to go talk to Jesus. Period! I can't tell you how liberating it is when you know who you are and walk in that truth.
Keep sewing and don't concern yourself one bit with what folks will think. You're good enough for where you are in your skills now. You get better the more you sew. Make sure you believe in Helen! Ask yourself what you want to achieve with your sewing and set out to accomplish the goal, one step at a time. Don't worry about what other folks are doing. We're all on different journeys. You will be messed up if you try to keep up with all the other sew sisters. Do Helen and be proud of her.

Dear Anita, I absolutely loved your video. I am a beginner when it comes to sewing but have a wish that I could make my own dress to wear to my nephew's wedding in June this year. At the back of my mind I was thinking that this is way too ambitious but I was searching for patterns nonetheless. I saw loads of patterns and the McCall's M7531 stood out for me. I’m doing just that Anita! I think there is something about our age, like I don’t have forever so I am fearless. I am in the process of pulling it all together. It has all absolutely exploded in the last 6 months. The most important part of it is the creativity aspect - being women I think we get so bogged down with responsibilities that we forgot to be as creative as we can be. You are absolute amazing and so fun to watch. I actually played your 2019 makes video at a party a couple of weeks ago because it was so impressive and fun. Thanks for inspiring me. I too have had a major loss and I also lost my mother now in December and it brought me to my knees. It’s. Slowed me down, yet had inspired me too. The sewing aspect keeps me near her or her to me. Keep that quality content coming!

I always love watching your videos and I look forward to seeing the new ones every time they post. They give me so much inspiration. Your question gave me pause. I will be 40 this year and I have been thinking about what I wanted to do with myself over the next 10 years. I've written and published books. I have open and ran a couple of business, with starting a non-profit this year with my husband. I have traveled to different states. I have flown on a plane. I've learned graphics design and photography. I have finally graduated from college. ALL things that I have placed on my list of things that I have wanted to do. In anything that I do I want God's blessing to shine through what I do. Recently, I have taught myself how to sew on a sewing machine and ended up making an army of blankets for my friends and family. I always wanted to step it up and start sewing dresses for myself and my daughter. Since I am full size it has been so difficult to fine clothes that look nice on us. I figured that this would give me something to do. Thank you so much for always being an inspiration to us.

Anita, I can’t say enough about your videos. Your tutorials are the right pace and full of details and tips that has inspired me to sew. You helped me see patterns in a whole new light because of how well you rock it and style it (it looked nothing like the outdated pics on the pattern cover). I agree with everyone that it is difficult to chose a favorite dress but I thought the sequins one was extra!! I look forward to seeing more pattern tutorials. I do have a special request. I prefer my dresses to have a zipper on the side because I feel like I’m on a game show when I try to zip myself from the back. If you can include this option on one of your tutorials or as a stand alone “tip”, it would be great. You n your boys are in my prayers.

Hooooney, I hate side zippers! 😂 Whenever I come across a pattern that has side zipper, I usually change it to the back. I have sewn garments with side zippers but my preference is center back. You had me laughing with the "game show" comment. LOL! Yes, I will consider tips though. And who knows, I just may include a side zipper one day in a sew along. I never say NEVER.
