In today's video, we're going to show you how to hardwire my favorite radar detector, the Uniden R3. The Uniden R3 is a fantastic radar detector with incredible range!

I’ve had these parts for a year and ran my R3 plugged into the power port beneath the glove box. I was hesitant to mess with anything electrical or trim related but definitely going to install it once I get my trim tool. Thanks guys!
I just installed the same radar. My original cord messed up and I had it since it came out. Took me like 20 min, had 1 more with me! Works great! Thank you for the video and ur time!!!

I bought that radar about 2 months ago and it works amazing but I hated the cord. Now with this it would look better. Thanks for all the help

That intro was priceless lol. Plugging it in the bigger plug cuts the power off instantly when you turn off the car. Both seem to work without an issue but benefits me more since my radar always goes off right where I park at my apartment.

Hey Bryan, absolutely love your videos! Do you have any long term updates on the hardwiring and whether it's caused any electrical issues? I ordered the kit you mentioned and I'm going to be installing it on my M235i today, but I want to be sure that I won't cause myself any headaches in the long run. Thanks in advance!

So after following this diy, it seems like my radar detector will turn on when i open the door and not when I start the engine. Is this what you guys got?

Is there a release button for the connectors to have a better view when inserting the taps? You make it seem easy but I’ve been yanking them around and they won’t disconnect.
It's better not to remove the clips. Just slide the black & red connectors on the side of the existing wires not below. Removing the clips were a pita for me and was done with the install in like 2 min.
Plz do a laser jammer install video, East Brunswick police in NJ only use lasers. I found out the hard way 😂

This is the best way to wire it and it’s so simple! You look good with a mustache by the way ha ha!

Any reason why it doesn’t work for me? Wont power on, tried multiple times and made sure the power/ground were in the correct spot

Ya so mine won’t power down. Did it exactly like the video says. Waited 10 mins after I turned off the car and locked it. Then tried 20 minutes later plugging in the phone Jack and it still has power …. Any advice?

Don't you then loose the convenience of the remote mute button?
Yes he does lose it. That's why I modified my oem hard wire kit making it a mirror tap to keep the power and alert leds and ran the mute button to a easy access location.

I tried this technique and it worked but then for some reason it doesnt work anymore and my compass in my rear view mirror was gone too. Any ideas? Probably electrical issues i suppose
