TORQ Toolbox fuses dont have a right orientation, its simply a metal piece of resistance that breaks when too much electricity hoes through it. Where did you hear they had orientation?
Uniden R3 is awesome I run one in my back window and a valentine 1 in the front, waze app, etc I’ve yet to get a ticket and commonly road trip at speeds well, well above 100mph when no other motorist are present.
Great radar detector. I replaced an escort redline with it and it out performed the escort by a mile so to speak. Only comment I would make is if you are hard wiring the detector, I would recommend taking the A pillar cover off and route the wire under the side airbags if your car has one. Placing the wire on top of the airbag could cause it to not properly deploy.
I have an R7 in my C7 an R3 in my Cruze, and I’m about to install an R7 in my CTR. Keep in mind, if you live in California, Ka is what CHP Is using. Also, need to spend as much time setting it up, correctly as you do installing it. In setting up, I segment 5 and 8 on Ka. And I turn K and X band completely off. Turning off other bands increases the strength of Ka band. I am using blendmounts in all of my cars, and they’re definitely good.
TORQ Toolbox I realized that you were in Arizona, after this video. I was watching another one, where you mentioned it. I lived in Phoenix for 10 years. Glendale, Surprise, Buckeye, off Verrado. So, yes, K band is there, still. X band is semi useless. Even our speed trap trailers, here, are Ka. I don’t miss the Tahoe’s the cops used to park, with cameras, everywhere.

Used the MirrorMount on my last car (Mustang GT), and I loved it. The MirrorMount does not fit the 11th gen Civic, which is unfortunate. I’m stuck using the suction cups.
A couple of points regarding the wiring: 1. Use a fuse with lower amperage for your detector than the existing fuse in the panel. 2. Your test of wire polarity was not a valid test, as the radar detector will always turn on if both fuses are seated in the fuse tap, regardless of the direction you placed the tap in the panel. When wired correctly, the fuses will be in parallel, and when incorrectly wired they will be in series. Either test the receptacle polarity with a meter or voltage probe, or see if the radar detector comes on without the existing fuse from the panel seated in the fuse tap. You want the detector to always come on whether the existing panel fuse does not exist in the tap or is blown (i.e., wired in parallel).
Getting my speed3 etuned and after much paranoia taking data logs, I am getting this. =D Appreciate the mount, hoping it will fit my weird old school mirror. Blendmount said they can honestly say they have never seen a mirror like mine. Not really what you want to hear.

I'd like to know if that does happen if the cop would have any radar evidence to use on me in court. If not would he just use dash cam footage but without any actual evidence he/she wouldn't be able to actually try me in court right?
The "longest range of any other detector" isn't enough information. Which other radar detectors was it tested against? For which band was it determined to be the longest range detector (X or K or KA 33.8 or KA 34.7 or KA 35.5)? Was the test course for off axis detection or a highway conditions, was there interference from trees and bushes? Did it have a fast enough response time to possibly warn of I/O (instant on) radar? How steady is the ramp up? BTW, POP radar isn't used for speed enforcement, the law states that a summons cannot be issued if you're tagged with POP. In fact, the POP feature should be turned off as it may impede the detectors reaction time. Instant On is not the same as POP and I/O is far more of a threat, a detectors sensitivity and reaction speed are the only defense against I/O and that's only if it can pick up radar scatter, if there is any. Can you segment this detector? Is it a digital or analog detector? Will segmenting increase the response time for this for this particular detector or is it one of the modern detectors where its not necessary for it to be segmented in order to get the maximum response time from it?
Forget this dude. I just went for a drive down the 405 Southbound to Santa Monica, Got back on the Northbound 405. Multiple CHP bogies. No warning! They are doing totally stealth... line of sight! No nothing... they hang loose, no reading. NEW tactics. I suspect they know better now. Oh well!

There is no substitute for experience. The utilization of a detector requires situational awareness when driving. Been using my valentine for over 10 years. As a professional speeder selling custom equipment to chemical plants in three states. I got paid on a commission only basis, salesman, paid my own expenses. If you do the math you don't save any time speeding unless you are driving for many hours. For instance driving 15 miles per hour over the limit for 4 hours, saves an hour overall. You have to average 15 mph over the limit for that to apply.
