Purple Bird Stronk! They have become my favorite faction. Too bad that there is so little fiction about them. I think they showed up in books in the post Dark Age setting, but I am more a Succession Wars / 3025 guy.
I read one book about the Marik alliance Comstar. It was a bit grim with the drills of "kill!" At the end, they were going to invade the Federated Suns and decided not to, because when they looked at the battle damage of the Davion heavy guards against the clans they didn't have the heart to fight. In fact, they went back and had a candlelight vigil.
These are the guys that did the most damage with Wolf's Dragoons. They invaded Hesperus II, then were driven back by the 10th Lyran Guard. Either the 10th Lyran Guard is awesome or when they got close they saw that the factories were a ruse.
Hesperus II had incredibly harsh climate (extremely poor habitability outside of environmentally sealed colonies) and the factories were placed in a strategically strong defensible point. Also the Steiners and Defiance learnt to station their GOOD troops there to keep raiders away.
The FWL is generally very, very effective in war whenever it decides to stop fighting itself. They have on multiple occasions all but completely conquered the capellans, about the only strategoc scale military succes by any successor state in any of the succession wars, and on every occasion they threw down with the lyrians they have come.out ahead, despite the commonwealth being more populous and wealthy.
MEGABUMSTENCH Thanks man :) I will get round to the next XCOM vid this week also. I got sidetracked with the EU servers, real life and testing twitch viability.
lumpy1space2princess It's because they lack the ability to produce the metals required in most PPC's. It's mentioned in TRO 3025 I believe. Other great houses are reluctant to sell the material to a potential enemy so Marik make do with their own Large lasers for Awesomes and some other designs that use them.
during the 3rd succession war technology was at its low point. Most factories were automated before the 200 years of the succession wars, and nobody alive during the 3rd war knows how to fix a broken PPC factory, or if they do fix it, to then keep it running for more than a few weeks before it breaks on its own again. You just have to make due with Large Lasers instead

love the FWL/House Marik. it may be bogged down with politics, but its the best house in my opinion.
Yeah Marik and Liao are most popular in MWO. Kurita and Steiner are far less popular.
If I had to actually live in one of the great houses, Marik would certainly be the top choice.

Shout out to the 1st Free World Guards and Machine Gun Alliance divisions o7
Going by the portrait art the houses seem to have a bit of limited gene pool problem
My fav house! Though not my fav faction over all, Marian Hegemony is best.
I love House Davion.

MEGABUMSTENCH Thanks man :) I will get round to the next XCOM vid this week also. I got sidetracked with the EU servers, real life and testing twitch viability.
Great video!
DargorA7X You're welcome :)
nice work bro !
healthyfire Thanks :)
Great video.
It makes me sad that House Marik are just a bunch of fakers now, mostly the original House has been swept away. Sad :(
Yeah they were responsible for a lot of major changes in the Inner Sphere. Not sure why they get so badly torn up really.
So theyre space yugoslavia
It's weird because one of the primary languages last I read was Spanish alongside Hinidi, so god knows what Marik is supposed to mainly represent.
@@CriticalRocket Its probably the hapsburg empire.
House Marik hails from a Czech background. So being under the leadership of Space Slavs explains a lot of the civil dysfunction.
Yes?
Cosmo Pandaz Most definitely.
Why did the Free Worlds League struggle to produce PPCS?

@@CriticalRocket ...piss on PPC's -- just beef up your Large Lasers.
Wayyy too much politics in this house.
Politics, contracts, and bureaucracy are the coward's option for those shy to fight.
Spoken like one who would send other men's sons to fight & die.
