There three ways of doing things in the Inner Sphere. The right way, the wrong way and the Steiner way, which is the wrong way except with lots of assault 'Mechs.
When I met Jordan Weisman at this year's Gencon, we talked about the Battletech kickstarter, and he started listing off Inner Sphere factions we could play as if the campaign stretch goals were met. I cut him off with "Steiner!". And yes, contrary to popular belief, we CAN outmaneuver most fortifications.
@@dubuyajay9964 I was just getting into Battletech at the time. I wasn't quite informed enough to ask at the time, though it appears that unfortunately the Unseen got pulled from the final release of the game due to the then-ongoing lawsuit with Harmony Gold. I did, however, ask him about Crimson Skies, which I wanted to see further developed, but he just sighed and said that while he had ideas for it, it was caught in legal deadlock.
The defhes company in Battletech produces the best performance in the Apple version. Some of the updates indicates that they are not manufacturing on Hesperus! That's part of the story.
CR: Belittles the Banshee for being underarmed also CR: shows a picture of the Banshee 3S, a massively uparmed and slowed down Steiner exlusive veresion of the Mech, next to the belittleling text ^^
Much like tanks need infantry support to be at their best, Assault Mechs need lights and mediums to deal with fast movers, and do actual scouting. An Atlas too slow to put his crosshairs on the Flea is a very dead Atlas.
hey Critical Rocket thanks for the videos man I like the stuff you make keep it up ! ...just wanted to ask you if you have done a LoreWarrior Rasalhague video? If you did than I am crap cause I cant find it.. and if not you should do one ;)
+Critical Rocket yeah that would be cool. Its because I don't know much about the lore. I played and (loved) MW3 and MW4 but thats all. I'm planning on reading the novels.. any tips where to start??
naugadanedhel Ah now that I cannot say. Never read the novels, so I have zero idea where to start with them unfortunately. However I would guess sarna.net would have a list of what books have been out and what periods each are set in.
So Katrina Steiner isn't actually a bad person? And I did hear about that steiner's officers don't really have experience, just a lot of money and they bought bigger mechs, because they were inconfident, but after hearing this......man, they were cowards back in the day. Well, at least the paint job is beautiful, really space german like, cold colors, I like it.
+tumate45 Steiner's main asset during the Succession wars was it's economy. No other house could match them for funds which is why they favoured bigger 'mechs in their armies more often. Come the clan invasion period and we are looking at a more skilled Steiner after they formed the Federated commonwealth with davion and benefitted from the Davion military systems.
+Critical Rocket Oh, I see now. And what do you think, wich house was relativly bad? For me it's maybe the two asian houses, because they murdered veryone for their goals. In most of mechwarrior games they're kind of douches. They give you a lot of money, that's true, but never really say anything about the missions. What's your opinion?
tumate45 They are all dicks in different ways. Kurita is a dictatorship with harsh reprisals for citizens who step out. Steiner is a class based society where the rich have all the power and the poor are a labour force to fuel the economic machine. Marik pretend to be a democracy but constantly infight and are constantly fractured, creating a society of uncertainty at all times. Liao is arguably worse than Kurita in most ways and Davion despite projecting an image of benevolence, regularly suffer internal strife and plot constantly to invade their neighbours for more territory. If I had to pick one it would likely be Liao but at the same time I feel sorry for them always being attacked by it's neighbours. They are regularly used as target practice for davion and marik.
+Critical Rocket Well then still the best choices are Steiner and Davion, but now I know what's wrong with Marik. I always thought this independent free world thing not works well in the mechwarrior universe. In this universe the houses and clans always need someone who controls with an iron fist, and nothing less or else they fall.
Magni56 Wouldn't surprise me if Steiner heavily used Merc units too I would guess they have the money to pay big for well renowned units and also fill in problems with their war machine as they do a GDI type of heavy combat so Mercs can field lighter recon or raid elements so you have a very strong war machine. Only problem is internal politics scoffing at the idea of using them or loyalty issues that can be exploited by enemies Money still talks though and news travels slowly so who would think a commander is using Mercs when deniability or "they suffered accidents" suffices as an excuse?
+Zeda Ennd Steiner are cool. Probably the most approachable from a real world perspective (big corps running things, nepotism in government and military that sort of thing) and they have a nice economy so most people don't live in near poverty or virtual servitude. Of course theTaurian concordat kick all the great houses in the ass for quality of life but if PGI added Tauria I would have to solo run the entire CW map into submission ;)

"A Steiner Scout Lance."

Louis Chapman Darn right :)
Louis Chapman by the dark age that's a light scout lance by their standards.

Never truer words spoken about the facts of warfare in the Inner Sphere.
Steiner we need you to deploy a light scout Lance. Shows up with an Atlas and three Awesome.
Steiner: These are the lightest mechs we could find.

Critical Rocket If you get all your Atlases to line up as they turn and get the one at the end to push, it really helps your turning speed.
Irondrone4
Makes sense. I always wondered why they moved in such perfect unison on the assault.
Did he say anything about the Unseen?

I have finished scouting the capital, it is now a crater

"Gifted."

4/6 is more than enough for a scout lance!
Agreed. Speed is for the weak.

You should do a lore on Wolf's Dragoons
It's on the cards.
Cards?
Icy Pyro
Figure of speech to say it's on the list of things to do :)
I think that'd have to include portions of the Dragoon compromise...
That Hesperus II has the largest facilities is a lark, it's a cover for a deeper story.

It still suffers compared to others of the same tonnage, also more pics are good :D
there is the rong way......and then their is the steiner way......which is the rong way with a fuck ton of assault mech's
Reminds me of the pic online of the planet and loads of Atlas being dropped from orbit with the same line :D
orbital insertion xD
Assault mechs win wars!
Yes, but artillery and LRMs do their part.
House Steiner: if it weighs under 80-tons we are not interested
