      I am having this problem now. Hours and hours spent on trying to unclog the blue only. Replaced the maintenance box which led to the cost of resetting the printer and tons of ink and still can’t get the blue clear. Any suggestions? The printer is the ET-2803 and only a few months old.

    Epson F-170 You saved my life! Thank you thank you. I haven't used my printer since about 6-7 months ago. I had a broken leg that took me 3 months this summer to get over. When I used it today, it printed nothing. I found your video and was pleased to follow your instructions, I did a nozzle check, and poof, it worked. I have religiously kept the power on since supposedly that would keep the nozzles from clogging. That sound you here outside is me celebrating!

      I bought my Epson ET- 2720 printer right before covid -19 struck. I put in the tank colors, and made 2 color tests, and that was 2019, and I haven’t had a chance till now (September 2024) to use my printer. I fear that the ink inside the printer has dried out completely. Not sure what to do next.

    I just wanted to stop back here and thank you! It took 4 days, but I was able to unclog my Epson 2850. While the purge sheets never showed any color except gray, I performed nozzle checks, print head cleaning, and a total of 2 power cleanings that finally did the trick. Each day after I tried an assortment of actions, I shut the printer off for at least 24 hours. Gradually, the nozzle checks showed a tiny bit of blue (the original missing color), but when I would then do a print head cleaning, the blue would disappear in the next nozzle check.
    Finally, today I turned the printer on, did a nozzle check and a print head cleaning, and all colors came out perfectly ... plus a big blob of black ink was expelled onto the upper right corner of the paper.
    I was really worried I was going to need to buy another printer, so thanks again for calmly explaining that unclogging could take a lot of time and patience. An Asurion insurance plan was purchased for this by my brother as a gift, but I figured that any claim would be rejected since I was using Hippoo ink.
    BTW, the printer sat all winter unused in subzero temps (down to -40F) in my unheated house while I was away, and it started up immediately and worked flawlessly from mid-March to mid-June. I have used it almost every other day since, so who knows why it suddenly decided to clog!

    Jennifer you are a legend! I watched several videos and followed them and then your video really stood out. I did the nozzle clean and head clean and unfortunately i had to do the 11min power wash. I went online and got my password from your site and went to your library and ran the file 588 for your PDF files for the Purge Sheets. I waited 12 hours overnight, got up this morning and ran the YELLOW Purge sheet and CMYB Purge Sheets! .......and its FIXED!! Yipee. I was sceptical at first about letting your printer 'rest' as i have never heard of that and this was also my first time to have a problem with our ecotank (we have ET-2820 her in Australia) Our problem was that last week after the kids printed an A4 page of a copy of a photo that the Yellow and Cian were not coming through in colour printing. It was for of all pinky looking. I ended up doing 5 x head cleans and only 1 power wash. It took a 3rd of my ink whilst doing that so now i can see via the process that you dont want to do that very much and it would be much better to run a purge weekly than go through all this again. A big thank you for your expertise.!!!!

    Thanks so much for your awesome explanation on unclogging printer. My Epson 2750 clogged about a year ago, and after going through the basic cleaning, I gave in and did the power cleaning. That was a mistake because quite a bit of ink leaked out the back of printer. Great video. Thank you. You know way more than the Epson technical support. Seriously.
    Questions, please.
    So you have one purge sheet with all four colors for when all the test lines are not good. However, wouldn't it be better even in such a case to use just one color sheet at a time? I am thinking that maybe there would be more force coming through the particular color tube and hence higher chances of clearing it as opposed to four of them going at the same time with lesser force?
    How much is the printer's life shortened by doing the head cleanings or power cleanings? And what will happen eventually? The printer will not turn on?
    Will printing the test page with the lines once a week be good enough to "exercise" the printer or does it need more color to print out?
    Thank you so much and I am looking forward to your response.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  22 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thank you so much for watching! To answer your questions - Yes, using a single-color purge sheet could potentially push more ink through a clogged nozzle of that color, since the printer is concentrating on that one tube. This can be a good approach if one specific color is having issues. But if all colors show issues, an all-color purge sheet can be effective, as it keeps the ink flowing through each line.
      Head cleanings and power cleanings do add some wear to the printer, but how much they shorten the printer’s life depends on the model and frequency. Generally, printers are designed to handle these maintenance cycles to some extent, so occasional cleanings shouldn’t cause noticeable damage. Over time, however, excessive cleanings may contribute to print head wear or clogging, but it usually doesn’t prevent the printer from turning on-just affects print quality.
      Printing a simple test page with lines once a week can definitely help “exercise” the printer, but occasionally printing a page with more solid colors can also help. This uses a bit more ink, but it’s beneficial for keeping all colors flowing and reducing the chance of clogs. 😊🌻

      @@JenniferMaker Thank you so much Jennifer for getting back to me 😊
      I have done 6 printer head cleanings (over two days). 3 yesterday, followed by the power cleanse. I printed the test page today and unfortunately no improvement. I have yellow and cyan missing completely at this point.
      I watched your video yesterday ( after I did all the cleanings) and I printed the purge pages for cyan and yellow ( 5 each) but no improvement. They were both pinkish.
      Is there anything else I can do at this point? I think that the only option left is going in there physically and use a syringe with air or a solution or hot water.
      In the past, the cleanings have helped me. I do not know why I seem to have issues this time.
      You mentioned that doing too many cleanings (head or power cleanings) can wear out the print head. What would the symptoms be? Is it possible that it happened to my printer? You also said that the cleanings can themselves cause clogs? Why would it be so? There is so much I do not understand about printers LOL.
      I have an Epson ET 2760.
      Magenta and black seem to be OK however when I printed the black purge page, I noticed slight lines spaced out evenly at about 1 cm running through the page crosswise. What does that mean?
      Thank you so much!

  • @YaBuddyC
    @YaBuddyC 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Jennifer, thanks for your help. My problem was just cyan. It was printing out the purge in a pinkish color in the beginning of doing all this. I did a cycle of 3-5 purge and 2 head cleanings. I repeated this cycle, every once in a while mixing up a little differently with maybe 6 purges in a row, with two cleanings, and once I did 3 purges followed by 3 cleanings in row. I also threw in a few purges with all four colors. Probably did these cycles 8-10 times and I figured I would eventually leave it alone and see if the 12-24 hour wait would help because I was still only seeing solid pink. Actually was feeling that I would likely end up needing to do the dreaded power cleaning. Continued on though and FINALLY I saw a few jacked up blue streaks on the upper portion of the color block so I kept going. Eventually after a few more cycles, on of the nozzle checks after doing a cleaning showed cyan with maybe just about 15% breaks in the lines! Kept going and now the ink seems to be completely flowing.
    There is still one issue... I am still working on it, but as of now I can't seem to completely shake these extremely faint darker blue lines running across the cyan color block. I only see them when printing in standard, but they are not there when using the high setting... on high it looks 100% solid and beautiful. Judging from what I have said, would you say my problem is no longer a clog or air in the lines so doing a 24 hour wait wouldn't really help at this point... and what my issue is now is solely with continuing to clean the print heads? I like the look of high better anyway but would rather not HAVE to print in high for everything. Btw, I do not use sublimation ink whether or not that has anything to do with anything and the files you provided, I just used the standard ink that came with the ET-15000

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It seems the issue is related to the print settings rather than a physical clog. Check Print Quality Settings: Ensure that your print quality settings are optimized even when using the standard mode. Sometimes, adjusting the settings within the standard mode can help improve the output.
      Update Printer Drivers: Make sure your printer drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause print quality issues.
      Alignment Check: Perform a print head alignment. Misalignment can sometimes cause lines or streaks in prints, especially in lower quality settings.
      Paper Quality: Ensure you are using the correct type of paper for your printer. Different papers can affect print quality, especially in different print modes.
      Maintenance: Even though you mentioned not wanting to do more print head cleanings, it might be worth doing one more round of cleaning to ensure everything is in top shape.
      Since you mentioned that you do not use sublimation ink and are using the standard ink that came with the ET-15000, this should not be a major factor in your issue. However, always ensure that the ink you are using is compatible with your printer.

      @@JenniferMaker Ok thanks. I think the issue is the quality of paper(just basic copy paper I'm using during testing) when combined with the standard setting. Results rage from good to great looking when using a combination of either of the matte paper options with high setting.Even when I choose one of the matte options with standard it comes out without banding.
      If I continue to use regular printer paper(not matte), but choose one of the matte options in the dropdown list and also choose matte paper option on the actual printer settings, is there any negative effect on the printer heads or is it just that the printer is dumping more ink out onto the page and it doesn't really mater if you are lying to the printer that it is using matte paper?
      Also, I have heard that updating the Epson can cause issues with performance and third party products. It might just be with updating the actual firmware though, not if you only update the drivers if you are even allowed to do those separately when updating. Not even sure if the 3rd party thing effect Ecotank owners unless for some reason you wanted to replace the tanks and they have chips. Do you know anything about issues when updating, especially for the ET-15000?

After watching these steps and using the files from Jennifer, I decided to try it again. On day 1 and 2, I was getting blank pages. Today (day 3) I was able to get all colors printing with the exception of cyan. This color is not printing anything. I remembered seeing a mention of this tutorial in an email I got from you, but went ahead and did all the wrong steps before watching it (*sigh). My ET-8550 automatically does head cleaning, and power cleanings if you say the lines are not right in the head nozzle check. Luckily it was only once for both before I watched your video. My printer has six colors, and the only one left with a problem is grey. I Googled purge files and found a grey one but it looks like it is using other colors to create it and not improving that line at all. Do you know if there is any way I can target that ink line specifically? I'm excited for Avance! I got on the waiting list as soon as I heard about it. Thanks for all you do, Jennifer! 🥰

    Thank you SO much! I was about to lose all hope, and did have to end up resorting to a Power Clean, but that finally fixed my clogged ink! You mention printing once a week at least to keep it unclogged, but I wasn't sure if you mean to print a purge sheet once a week, or just run a nozzle check once a week. Can you please clarify that part? Thank you!!!

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  หลายเดือนก่อน

      To keep your printer unclogged, it's recommended to print at least one sheet with all of your ink colors each week. This can be a simple one-page sheet that includes all four colors of ink. This practice helps keep the ink flowing and prevents clogs. You can set a reminder to print weekly, or you can use an auto print service if you prefer something more automated. Running a nozzle check is part of the troubleshooting process if you encounter clogs, but for regular maintenance, printing a sheet with all colors is the way to go.

    I have an Epson Expression Ecotank ET-2750 Series and I am currently running the diagnostics on my printer to see if it could be clogged and so far I have run a nozzle check 3 times and cyan is the only color coming out. This printer has been sitting in storage where the ink might have dried in the tanks and the areas where it is supposed to come out. I didn't know about the purge sheets until watching this video and running a print head cleaning and getting no results so I had unfortunately ran a power cleaning on it. I am probably going to try the ink pad next after 12 hours are up to see if I need to replace that next or even flush the ink tanks. All are useful maintenance tips I have heard to hopefully fix the issues I am having with my printer.

    Hello Jennifer, great news, your method worked. Thank you. I did end up having to do a power clean, but it is printing all colors. However for the pass 2 days I have run into a printing problem. Now it is printing only half of the design. I have shut the printer off and let it rest for 24 hours and even reinstalled the printer. But I keep running into this problem. What can I do?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad to hear that the power cleaning helped with the colors. However, it's frustrating that you're now facing a new issue with your printer only printing half of the design. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve this problem:
      Check the Nozzle Check Sheet: Print a nozzle check sheet to see if any nozzles are clogged or if there are any missing segments. This will help you identify if the issue is related to the printhead.
      Print a Purge Sheet: If the nozzle check sheet shows any inconsistencies, print a purge sheet for the problematic color(s). This can help clear any remaining clogs.
      Ensure Ink Levels are Sufficient: Make sure that all ink reservoirs are above the minimum level. Low ink levels can cause printing issues.
      Clean the Print Heads: If the purge sheet doesn't resolve the issue, perform a printhead cleaning. This process can help clear any clogs that might be causing the problem.
      Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, updating the printer's firmware can resolve printing issues. Check if there are any available updates for your printer model.
      Inspect the Print Settings: Ensure that your print settings are correct. Sometimes, incorrect settings can cause partial prints. Make sure the design is set to print using color ink and that the best quality options are selected.
      Check the Paper and Print Area: Ensure that the paper is correctly loaded and that the print area is not obstructed. Sometimes, issues with paper alignment can cause partial prints.
      Run a Power Cleaning Cycle: As a last resort, you can run another power cleaning cycle. This is taxing on the printer, so only do this if the other steps don't resolve the issue.
      Feel free to. ask questions in the group for more feedback. facebook.com/groups/sublimationmadeeasy

    I have an Epson ET 2850, I had not remembered to print something weekly so it had been a couple of months. Went to print 4 days ago and 1 and 1/2 pages printed correctly, the rest was mostly green. When I ran a nozzle check only black showed so where the green came from, who knows. Then after watching your video and downloading the purge sheets I would print the purge sheets and only the black writing showed. Now after two more days I printed 20 sheets on cyan and not only is there no blue the black writing is not showing up either. I will keep at it every day but I am frustrated. Your video was excellent, thank you. I'm not sure my nozzles were clogged as the first page and a half printed fine. I did buy nozzle cleaning kit and watched a video on taking it apart and cleaning the nozzles but here again I'm not sure that is the problem. If there is air in the lines is there a way to clear that?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm glad you found the video helpful. If you suspect that air in the lines might be causing the issue, there are a few steps you can take to address it:
      Check Ink Levels: Ensure that all your ink reservoirs are filled past the minimum level. Low ink levels can cause air to get into the lines.
      Run a Nozzle Check: Navigate to the home view on your printer, select maintenance, and then choose the nozzle check option. This will help you determine if there are any clogs or if the issue might be due to air in the lines.
      Perform a Printhead Cleaning: If the nozzle check shows gaps or missing segments, you can try a printhead cleaning. This process pushes ink through the nozzles and can help clear out any air bubbles. Navigate to maintenance and select head cleaning (but avoid power cleaning unless it's a last resort).
      Let the Printer Rest: Sometimes, letting the printer sit for a while can help the ink settle and clear out any air bubbles naturally.
      Print Test Sheets: After performing the cleaning, print a new nozzle check sheet to see if the issue has been resolved. You can also print a few test sheets to ensure the lines are clear and consistent.

    So great that this worked for everyone else. I had black but no other colors. Since following these instructions I now have no color, not even the black. I have been working with it for several days. Am now trying 20 purge sheets at a time but all are blank. I don't understand why since the black was working, after cleaning nozzles and running purge sheets for several days I now have no color and no black. If anyone has other ideas or if it took hundreds of purge sheets to clear it, that would encourage me to keep running the purge sheets. By the way my ink is all about half full. Less than a week ago I printed four sublimation prints. The first came out fine, the 2nd was 1/3 good color then green for the rest of the print and the last two are just green. Now this is odd since blue and yellow make green, or they used to so how did I get green prints with no color on my nozzle check. I am baffled.

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It sounds like you're having quite a challenging time with your Brother Sublimation Printer. Based on the context provided, here are a few suggestions and ideas that might help you resolve the issue:
      Ink Levels and Nozzle Check: Ensure that your ink reservoirs are filled past the minimum level. Low ink levels can cause issues with ink delivery. Since your ink levels are about half full, this should be sufficient, but double-check to be sure.
      Nozzle Check Sheet: Print a nozzle check sheet to see if any colors are missing or faint. This will help you identify which colors are not printing correctly. If the nozzle check sheet shows no color at all, it indicates a severe clog or another issue with ink delivery.
      Rest the Printer: Sometimes, letting the printer rest for 12 to 24 hours can help. Turn off the printer and let it sit. This can allow any air bubbles in the ink lines to settle and might help with ink flow.
      Purge Sheets: You mentioned using 20 purge sheets at a time, which is quite a lot. Typically, it should not take hundreds of purge sheets to clear a clog. If the purge sheets are coming out blank, it suggests that the ink is not reaching the print heads at all.
      Check for Air in the Lines: If you recently filled your ink tanks, there might be air in the lines. This can cause the ink to not flow properly. Letting the printer rest, as mentioned earlier, can sometimes help with this.
      Power Cleaning: As a last resort, you can try running a power cleaning cycle. This uses a lot of ink but can sometimes clear severe clogs. Make sure your ink tanks are at least one-third full before running a power cleaning cycle.
      Printer Maintenance: Check your printer's manual for any specific maintenance steps or troubleshooting tips. There might be additional steps you can take to address the issue.
      Professional Help: If none of the above steps work, it might be time to contact Brother's customer support or take the printer to a professional for servicing.
      Regarding the green prints, it sounds like there might be an issue with the cyan and magenta inks not printing correctly, leading to an imbalance in color output. This could be due to clogs or air in the lines.

      @@JenniferMaker i had black two days ago then nothing yesterday. I ordered a printhead cleaning kit and in the instructions it told me to do a power clean first. I did an filled my ink tanks. I finally have al colors with a couple of missing spots on the cyan. Power cleaning said may take 22 hours to get quality prints but so far it looks good. Thank you for your help.

    Hi Jennifer! I have an Epson ET-2720 that I have Hippoo Sublimation ink in the tanks from the beginning. Unfortunately, I did not use it for several months and now I am having a real problem getting it unclogged. All the colors have strips when I print the purge sheets. I have been working on this off and on for several weeks with no real success. I love the idea of a purge sheet, but it seems mine has some important print heads that are still clogged. I have followed all the steps and done this about 4 times over the last several months. I still do not have my print heads unclogged. Do you have any other suggestions? I don't mind getting my hands dirty and learning how to maintain this little printer. But right now I am at a loss. Please direct me. I think I need to do another power cleaning, but my little screen on the printer says there is a problem with the print head nozzles. For details see documentation. Any wisdom on this message?

    Your tutorial couldn't have come at a better time. My printer has laid unused for over a year. The nozzle check sheet came out completely blank. I'm using the Epson 2720 converted to sublimation. I've tried all the steps in your tutorial except for the cleaning of the rollers as I need two hands for that and currently have one in a sling. Do you think that cleaning the rollers might resolve the problem? (I have tried the purge sheets a few times to no avail).

      It might! It's worth the try to do it if nothing else is working.

    Is it better to do test prints with sublimation paper versus regular printer paper? If I remember, choosing the matte paper setting pushes more ink out. Will that make a difference in whether or not your printer develops a clog over time?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can use plain paper for your testing for sure!

    Where yours is coming out with the YMC colours, mine is only coming out with black when I do the maintenance check 🙃 any advice would be great appreciated ✨✨

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It sounds like you're having trouble with your printer only printing in black during the maintenance check. Here are some steps you can follow to try and unclog the printer:
      Print a Nozzle Check Sheet:
      Navigate to the home view on your printer and select maintenance, then nozzle check. This will help you identify which colors are not printing correctly.
      Print a Purge Sheet:
      Open the purge sheet PDF for the color you want to fix (in your case, it might be cyan, magenta, and yellow). Print the purge sheet using the best quality settings available. This process helps push ink through the nozzles and can sometimes clear clogs.
      Printhead Cleaning:
      If the purge sheet doesn't resolve the issue, go back to the maintenance menu and select head cleaning. This process will push ink through the nozzles to try and clear any clogs. Be sure to check the ink levels before starting this process.
      Rest the Printer:
      If after three rounds of printhead cleanings the issue persists, turn the printer off and let it sit for 12 to 24 hours. Sometimes the ink needs time to settle.
      Power Cleaning (Last Resort):
      If the problem still isn't resolved, you can try a power cleaning cycle. This is a more intensive process and uses a lot of ink, so it should be your last resort.
      Check Ink Levels and Maintenance Box:
      Ensure that your ink reservoirs are filled past the minimum level and that the maintenance box isn't full. Running these processes with low ink can damage your printer or give unreliable results.

    I didn't find your video until after I did 3 print head cleanings. because that is what I would do with my other printer to fix. Now I have printed your purge files and followed your steps. I am getting a notice to update me firmware. Should I update now? Will it make a difference. My printer is fairly new. My issue started with paper not feeding through properly and I canceled the print and started the print over and here I am in the mess. I have an et-2850

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Given that your printer is fairly new and you're experiencing issues with paper feeding, updating the firmware could potentially help resolve the problem. Firmware updates often include fixes for known issues and improvements in performance.

    Why are my nozzle check pages printing without missing segments but the words on the page have lines in them, the magenta has huge light lines in my designs, and the cyan dark lines? Now, I did the purge sheets and the magenta and cyan are better. The black purge was perfect and the designs are now fine BUT the words on the nozzle check sheet STILL have lines in them. I did a vertical AND horizontal print alignment too. Even the horizontal alignment had lines through it. So weird. So frustrating. I best not complain though, my designs are now fine, I just worry that it'll happen again because the lines in the words even though it didn't happen on the purge sheet. I'm baffled! Thank you for ANOTHER amazing tutorial, the purge sheets, and the gorgeous subliflower that I am totally putting on a shirt!

    Should you leave your printer on when it's not in use? I read/heard that you should turn it off when it's not in use or is it ok to leave on?

    • @JenniferMaker
      @JenniferMaker  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You should not leave your inkjet sublimation printer sit for an extended period of time without printing. Run at least a nozzle check periodically to move fresh ink through your print heads.
      If you've let your printer sit without using it, this gives the ink a chance to dry, which, can cause blockages and further issues. Sawgrass recommends that the printer be used often to ensure the print head nozzles do not become clogged. Sawgrass also recommends keeping the printer powered on at all times. This will allow the printer to run automatic maintenance utilities for optimal performance. Epsom EcoTanks need to run often for the same reason.

    All fingers are crossed at this time.....I am doing Step 5 😥 I have followed your tutorial and performed all of the other steps. My own fault. I haven't printed a sublimation print in almost one year. I have, however, performed the weekly (sometimes bi-weekly) nozzle check. I should have been printing your purge page instead. I downloaded it yesterday from my Advance page. Oh well. It is 2 years old..... Only the yellow is clogged.....
