    I've known this land since I was a child, I was born in the parish of Achadinha, I have lots of nostalgic memories of ancient times, as a child nature was even more present

    Great video of the natural landscape! I really appreciate you showing where you are on the map during each of your videos. Most videos I watch, people don't think of doing that!

    The Açores are just amazing. Weather is finicky though, a lot like the Pacific NW of the USA. I was just in Terceira, and we caught the weather were it was best. Rain in Angra but sunny is Biscoitos? We ran (in our car) and had a dip in the natural pools in Biscoitos and ended up with a sunburn!🙄😜 Açores (in Portuguese) is truly magical and the people too, the best. ❤️🇵🇹

      It is! I am sure I will be back :) Maybe I'll also check out Terceira :)

      @@OfftoMarvelousPlaces I hope you do! Terceira is fantastic and very historic. Good infrastructure, massive airport landing strip. Food wasn't great, but that was just about my only gripe.

    I love your enthusiasm as you explore the magic of the Azores. We went there about 7 years ago and it’s stayed as a magical place in our hearts.

      @@OfftoMarvelousPlaces It is so wonderful that there's a whole archipelago that few know about, just as was the case for you. I don't know if you saw the news reports today about the largest ever bone fish caught off Horta in the Azores, a sunfish that weighs as much as a truck. Just another magical detail about those islands.

    Hi! The plant at 7:23 that you called Bamboo is actually called "Arundo donax" in it's scientific name, or in Portuguese: Cana, wich is a invasive species here in Portugal.

    The "house in the centre of the screen WAS My Grandparents local store.
    They provided flour, cornmeal, sugar, yeast,, milk(room temperature) cheeses, (Quejo de Sao Jorge, mostly) ready-made breadS, dried fruits, including figs,..... wines via barrels) or bottled, brandy's (Maciera), then laundry soap bars/wash boards, dish soap and butcher tools for Matanças (slaughter backyard pigs) family festival and my favorite at 6/7 yrs old...."Vinyl Record & Gorilla gums..
    Visited my roots in Achadinha 9 times, through my child hood and young life. So I know that villa intimately.
    20:06 is Achadinha's local Church behind her

    Thanks for sharing your experience! Very much appreciated.
    How did you get around the island? Did you use public buses?
    I'll come to Sao Miguel next week for 6 days trip as a solo tourist. Any particular hikes you'd recommend? (besides the stunning ones you had already showed us) :)

    • @OfftoMarvelousPlaces
      @OfftoMarvelousPlaces  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I mostly used the public busses. They worked quite well, but be sure to get an accurate plan. Google worked for the most part. The busses do not go very frequently, however. This was a problem with the Hike at Sete Cidades, because the time was rather short to finish the trail in time. I used a taxi as well and this went great also. I went by taxi from Ribeirinha to Poço Azul for around 30 EUR. Recommendation: at the very least check out all three volcanic systems. Also the center one with Lagoa do Fogo. There are a lot of beautiful paths on São Miguel and I am sure I missed out on something wonderful as well ;) Have fun on the island and I hope your weather will be great!
