I hike anyway...refuse to let the weather Gods dictate me 🤗 And...Sao Miguel is wonderful..as you just did, I'll come back there...to the island and, to the people there... If I could, I would split my retirement between the Azores and Ecuador...maybe..who knows..both places are definitely no. 1 places on our planet 👍 Thanks a lot for sharing...
The Azores are a unique, natural and unspoiled paradise. Simply heaven on earth. If you're looking for peace, grand natural scenery and communion with nature it's not to be missed.
Gotta like the wind if you live on an Island in the middle of the Atlantic. Interesting destination. I love the detail work in everything the Islanders do. And to reply to your question, if the weather doesn't work out while over there, I'd stay indoors for a while, hanging out in pubs and coffee shops, museums and galleries, great ways to get to know the culture and the locals... and if you are in good company, spend more time in the hotel with a late morning breakfast in bed. Thanks for sharing Alice.
As a Azorean, i "cringed" how unlucky you were with the weather, i dont know when you came, but the last week we had amazing sunny days (now its raining again). But thats the thing, we have a beach (getting a tan) culture, we have great summers, but here... Rains ALOT, its no coincidence why we have plenty of water the entire year and everything is green. The good part is, we dont have harsh winters or harsh summers. But here, the weather is very unpredictable and can make 4 seasons in a day in summers peak. Its a shame you didnt get to see the views of the lagoon on its glory (even raining its beautiful, too bad for the fog). That is why, i think we will never be a "big thing" in tourism (which is a good thing and also be bad, depends on your point of view). Despite that, i hope you enjoyed my fatherland. I enjoyed also how you did your homework knowing things about the island and such and how the video was put together. Great content. Keep it up.
Thank you so much Gordus, I hope the islands remain mostly untouched and magical. Funnily enough I have been twice and never seen that lagoon in all its glory but I still enjoyed the foggy and peaceful experience of not sharing that trail with anyone.
Great video -- it puts these islands on my radar screen as a place to visit. You 72-hour trip reminded me of a 48-hour stop-over I did in Iceland while flying back from Europe. To you and anyone who follows this channel: Iceland is an absolute must-visit place! Absolutely stunning -- and it is amazing how much you can see and do in 48 hours when you set your mind to it!
Alice great video. Glad you didn't allow the inclement weather deter you. I think the wind/rain and your ability to deal with it created a positive dimension for the lush green environment. Good job. Thank you.
I've just returned from Azores :D. Such an amazing place. And it is great to see this images again. Lucky for me, when I was there sun was up, and day was beautiful and you can see everything. Friend and I kinda dipped ourselves in the part of Porta do Diabo :D. It was amazing feeling. Not the best decision ever, but no regrets :D. even with hurt shoulder. I would not recommend doing this, but you can walk pretty close to the end of rocks, just be super careful!!!! Waves are coming from three sides, and they can hit you hard, and pull you in super quick!! Scenes are amazing, waves ares magnificent. !00% will be back again at some point!
@@AliceFordAdventures I'll return there 100%. I've only had time to visit main island São Miguel. But next time I'll take more time, and visit all of them in detail.
You should do a road trip from San Sebastien to Sintra portugal, following the coastline all the way. Nothern Spain I feel is Europe's best kept secret. Amazing greenery, rugged cliffs, tons of history and cute coastal villages.
I'm glad you enjoyed your stay here at our island, however the weather here is very dynamic 😅 There can be a rainy day but alot of humidity which makes the weather "hot" but having rain at same time... Its just different and unique than every other places and alot of culture 🧫✨ It's honestly a good place to stay however the economy here seems to be the only issue unfortunately, its really chill and heart warming totally recommend to anyone who wants to have some good vacations or just explore 🙂 Thanks for your video and showing how beautiful our island is, greetings! ❤
Hello from a new subscriber. This is a very nice video. I did a three week vacation pn this island last summer and was organically inspired to create my new channel with some of the videos i made on this vacation. It happens that ive stumbled onto a great hobby.
Hi Alice 👋 hope you're doing well, beautiful place , bummer about the weather 🤷♂️visited the AT today, around Mt. Moosilauke 🙂Thank you, appreciate you, stay safe and take care my friend 🙏 🙂
After watching the first couple of minutes, i was thinking this is like a tropical version of Iceland, plenty of wind & rain, might be a good place to honeymoon.
Nice video Getting me ready for my 3 wk vacation in Sao Miguel this summer..Its Been 30 yrs since I was last there...I'm sure there been some significant changes Question...which Town was the waterfalls located in?
There are waterfalls all over the island most are on the north and east side. I recommend getting on Google maps and pinning the locations of one’s you want to visit, like Cascata Saltó Do Prego or Saltó Da Farinha
As I explored the island of sao miguel in June 2024 I found that after 30 years away... from resisting the island has become more tourist friendly as I remember...but what a experience that is worth the effort and time spent in Portugal...I loved every minute of the time I was on the island..it brought back so many memories...Ribeira Grande was a very nice villa to explore ...Furnas Villa Franca... Loved the nature ..culture The laid back atmosphere... As someone from Azorean background will come back....soon to explore it all again...
Great video. I hope that I’ll do a fourth trip to Azores. Every time you learn something new and I have seen rivers and hot springs but no waterfalls. Why not move there? Or part time move there?
Incredible stuff Alice. Your work is truly inspiring. Thank you! You have the best life and job in the world exploring every nook and corner of the globe. It doesn't get any better than that :)
Hi Alice, good for you for not letting the bad weather prevent you from exploring. The Azores are beautiful indeed. I can see the mix between Hawaii and Island. My neighbours are from there and one of them tells me all the time to go for a visit. Maybe I will now after watching this video. Safe travels!
One advice I would give you is including the price that you pay on your trips (vehicle rentals, flights, hotels, food, etc) because it does help the viewers specially if you like the place and want to check it out and even stay at the same place you went. Also I think you are doing in your videos but I would mention the names of the companies for all. Again you don't have to provide any personal information to protect your privacy. Hope this helps!
Lastly, I would try to gain some sponsors with the hotels, car rentals, business in general you used their services from and see if you can get some discounts or offer promotions for the viewers. I watched some TH-camrs doing in the past. Cheers!
