Why do you think ibises are always rummaging through bins? All part of the spying. Australia's government is after all part of the Five Eyes intelligence sharing arrangement with the US.

    • @geeteshm4858

Why can't they just be birds tho? There was a crow in my childhood who i accidentally hit one by a pebble and from that day onward that crow always waited on the branch infront of the balcony to hit me on the head...and i lived in fear from then on. Birds don't care and definitely don't want to friendly. Even if governments give them orders they'd hit their heads too.

Its funny how many people think BAR is legitimate at first glance. Pretending as if there's a line between millennial and gen z humor is a fool's errand. You can trace all the absurdist stuff to dada, like you said, but more recently it's all from stuff Gen X started like Mr. T Ate My Balls twenty five years ago. It's all a natural evolution that builds off what came before.

imo the thing that all these people that try to shift peoples thinking SHOULD be doing is teaching emotional intelligence. Trying to manipulate, no matter whether in a positive or negative way, seems to always make the results wildly unpredictable because of peoples differing in emotional intelligence. It is almost entirely out of your hand how a person will react or respond(very different things) to anything, but it is usually safe to assume it'll be in some sort of emotional way. Without the like knowledge of ones own emotions, how to communicate them, how to reflect on them, how to empathize with others emotions- this is where we see people fall into the black and white style of thinking. as they struggle to comprehend/digest their own emotions and reactions and thus pick the simplest/easiest thing for them to understand.
like the whole using humour to teach is great, love seeing it- love using it lol. but imo without the baseline of basic knowledge of mental health/emotional intelligence and a shift in society to allow people to feel and ask questions, it;ll continue to not make much of an impact or confuse more than do good. and its frustrating as a big change needs to happen at like, a foundational level, like im talking at a parenting-how we treat raising n supporting children and then moving on to then how we raise and treat adults- kind of level. and with how fucked things are atm I don't see that happening anytime soon.

The timing of this upload is pretty fitting, seeing as how some absolutely insane egoists are holding the the US parliament hostage.
I think it's perfectly fine to see "Gen Z humour" as a sequel to "Millenials internet humour", like 4chan, Something Awful, very early reddit from 10-15 years ago.
We (I'm 35) started this trend of really absurd and "random" humour back in the mid 2000s, where so much was made satirical and ironic.
The big difference, at least in my opinion, is that 15 years ago people took the inspiration from media, like Pepe the frog or Epic Fail Guy. Basically taking something really harmless and using it as memes, often changing and using it to an absurd level. On the other hand, Gen Z takes their inspiration a lot more from real life, e.g. individuals, their own history, socio-economic or political events. They both share the recreation and propagation of something.
btw, I've had never heard of BAR before, but it immediately reminded me of the Flying Spaghetti Monster! lol
Coincidentally also a Millenial humour classic.

    • @ana-isabel
      @ana-isabel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

The Flying Spaghetti Monster was another iconic stunt back in the day haha - thanks for reminding me of that one 🍝
The difference you pointed out between Millennial and Gen Z humor is interesting; I'd argue there'd still be some overlap between the subject matter of the two, but looking back (at least off the top of my head atm), classic "millennial" memes _do_ seem less heavy with the commentary, i.e. nyan cat, rick rolling, numa numa, etc. 🤔

Being in such a powerful countercultural movement as BAR means that we have the responsibility to protect the innocent as well as call out the corrupt. Bats did nothing wrong, and I want to be very clear about that.

If you ask me, without Operation Mindfuck and the Discordian Society in general none of this would've reached the power, reach, and meta-level it has. Back in those days there were ideological camps going at each other with tensed brows, and on the other side hippies not really engaging with anything but saying "chill out". Humour if then was used to make fun of people, as a rhetorical means to denigrate and draw in/outgroup lines, not rarely with hateful undertone. It's all too easy to fall into those patterns, even if well-intentioned.
The situation was (well, still is) messed up, and the easiest way to not overtense your own eyebrows or become an ineffective hippie is to laugh at yourself and others. The willingness to be silly and to be laughed at, and hope that rubs off on enough gray-faces. Failing that, it at least, as the BAR people rightly point out, provides an igloo.
That all said, maybe it would be a good idea to make a video on The KLF for all them whippersnappers.

See Ana, you've proved I was right, you're every bit as smart, creative and thoughtful as I gave you credit for. 😁This was a smart and splendidly assembled essay, and had a perfect tone for the whacko Real Bird theory. It is distressing that people are gullible enough to fall for these things, especially so in North America, where any nutty theory seems to be believable to far too much of the voting population. And it is equally sad that people who believe conspiracy theories are more inclined to become entrenched in their beliefs rather than admit they were wrong. Well done Ana. Enjoy your vacation.

I can see how you would call it millennial humour tho
As it looks very similar to the “RAWR XD Random” humour of the early 2000s & 2010s

Mexican humor is full of death and dark topics. We cope woth loss by mocking and worshipping death (and no, Coco is not a accurste representarion, it's actually offensive.) I think everything, everything, is fair territory for personal or private jokes, but satire and public comedy should never make jokes that attack victims, and only attack the rich, the famous and the powerful.

peter mcindoe was one of my best friend's older brother's in HS and i remember when this was still in earlier stages, and i just have to say that he was a stoner from a homeschooled family and this movement was not initially thought through as much as the story implies

i am also a stoner from a homeschooled family so no judgement, but i find it hilarious how big this has gotten and how they've decided to make it a real statement at this point
