It's been a while, but I want to say you mentioned living in a country other than the U.S. at some point in the past. So not sure if they run the same TV commercials there. But an actress has recently been promoting a certain prescription drug she apparently takes herself. She looks 30 something, pretty, and gives you the thought that you know her from somewhere. It's Jamie Lynn Sigler. Meadow from The Sopranos. She has MS. Such a raw deal. Life humbles EVERYONE.

tate saying that happiness isnt for men is literally just the "fellas is it gay to be happy" meme but somehow treated like a serious thing

    • @zendoclone1
      @zendoclone1 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Except it isn't a meme. Its a sobering reality, and the perception has been shaped by women. Men have to be tall, they have to be an earner, they have to be stoic. No one gives a shit if men are happy, and the inequality in suicide rates between men and women back that as well as the death rate of homeless people. A vast majority of the time if you don't earn, you're a loser. If you show insecurity in front of your woman, congrats, your relationship just jumped off a fucking cliff. To put it crudely, the success of a man isn't measured in wealth, its measured by the quality of pussy he can pull.

that is not the point, he is trying to state that society's obsession with the pursuit of happiness is non optimal, thus has consequences. People spend their lives chasing this unrealistic child-like happiness only to find out it functions the same as a high, happiness dissipates. it simply cannot be perpetually maintained, its impossible. The only thing close to this ideal, is to learn to be content/fulfilled. You would of been able to grasp the difference if you watched the original clip.

    • @hollandscottthomas
      @hollandscottthomas 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +36

@@davidangelo4018 Happiness can absolutely be maintained. It's all about what you value and where you find it. Seeking it in hollow, material pursuits will dissipate because they're not actually meaningful. People chase money and status for the illusion it, but they ultimately need more because it doesn't fulfil anything. I know plenty of people who live simple lives where their focus is on the people around them and community, and they're the happiest people you'd ever meet. That doesn't fade like some high, it's a state of being.

When I was kid the common wisdom was that in the adult world men get to have all the freedom and fun. Now it turns out men aren't allowed to have fun either. Just accumulate wealth, buy things they don't need to impress men they hate. Don't feel, don't sleep, don't make a nice meal, don't practice self care, don't form attachments, etc. This is so bleak.

I think another thing about Patrick Bateman that these sigma male astrologists miss because they don't know how subtlety works is that Bateman actually a completely useless individual in the film. 1. He's a nepo baby (his dad basically owns the firm). 2. He's never entrusted with any real responsibilities (see his resentment at Paul Allen for handling important accounts). 3. He's completely self absorbed and arrogant yet completely forgettable to the point he gets mistaken for someone else constantly. 4. He doesn't actually know how to do his job, we never see him doing any real work even at the office and most tellingly when Willem Dafoe comes to interview him and he pretends to be on a phone call he doesn't actually discuss his business but surface level men's fashion.

You understood the point of the character! He was textbook sociopath, pretending to be "normal" around a bunch of people that don't care who he was on the inside, as long as he looked the part and didn't make them look bad. Everything you mentioned is why he carried so much grandeur. He was sheltered his entire life, leading him to believe that he'd accomplished everything with "hard work and determination," but has never struggled a day in his life.

    • @vecxio8070
      @vecxio8070 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

That's all true, but there's something to say about the guy's discipline, he clearly was a sociopath and an incompetent human being, but his ability to remain constant, to carry out a routine down to a T for years without failing (even after he goes fully insane), to take care of his health and his appearance to the point of obsession. To me, those specific traits are not evil or toxic, quite the opposite, and that's partially why a good number of women feel attracted to him, because they saw his consistency, his diligence and commitment to his life and work, even if he was just pretending (and also because he was rich and handsome, of course). What I'm trying to say is that there's value in those qualities, so long as they're distinguished and separated from his terrible behavior (misogyny, sociopathy, entitlement, incompetence, etc.). The "internet Alpha males" have issues doing that and claim that the whole persona is a role model, while the "blue pill" side of the spectrum throws out the baby with the bathwater and claim that the whole persona is toxic and evil, but personally I think there's a balance, and both sides are half way correct.

None of these statements are contradictory. Nor are they very accurate/ genuine to the argument being made .
I”m sure I’ll get “incelled” but you wouldn’t want to stay in your echo chamber now would you?
      >There’s nothing wrong showing emotion. Unless it’s to your woman as a man. Leave that shit for someone else. It’s not mens fault that women lose respect for men they see as weak. You gona tell women to prefer the guy who cries about his feelings all day? A relationship will not work without respect. For some reason women can cry like little babies and still garner respect. Congratulations
      >Again your applying a female dynamic to men. What does it mean to “live within your means”? If men are to be the protectors and providers then they got to go get the shit so that if can be provided right? Or your not interested in being protected and provided for? This comes down to how much you work and how good you are with money. That is what determines your “means”.
      > I’m not sure where your getting the point women aren’t trusted to show respect. Or, men competing with you. Are you saying everyone on the planet is trust worthy and has your best interest in mind? Your gona be disappointed.
      >You can dislike someone and still find them physically attractive. Or are men bad for having sexual desire lol?
      >A lot of “red pillars” discuss accepting and embracing the social expectations of protector and provider so I’m not sure where you’re getting that. I’m also not seeing the contradiction to “flexing on others “. What social expectations are you referring too?
      >How is taking someone’s advice make you subservient to them? And why would you not be open to the advice of someone more successful then you?
So now going through your “contradictions” I can see you’re not arguing in good faith. You’re seemingly forcing these ideas as contradiction’s while not considering important nuanced information.

This is why you don’t take dating advice from women.
#1 - You can’t seduce a masculine woman. It just doesn’t work. You can have sex, but she’s not feeling desire.
      2. The most famous “seducer” of women in history was Casanova, and he was successful by lying to women & telling them what they wanted to hear. Basically, he was a con artist.
      3. The advice given by these men you’re dogging out - yeah a lot is exaggerated like “don’t sleep” - but the best thing a man can be is better than the woman who wants him, so they can actually admire & desire him.
That doesn’t happen with doing dishes, or cooking meals, or any of that other bull$hit.
Men require respect. Women only sleep with men they respect.
      End of story.

Also, considering the ending, how you got the impression that both Tyler and Jack, or whatever Ed Norton's character is named, worked things out and lived happily ever after in harmony together?
Also want to point out that people like Peterson say things that have the appeal of wisdom but are often not well thought out or rather seem mundane upon scrutiny.
"You have to become a monster...."
An old lady with an AR can become a monster if she starts mowing people down at the grocery store...there is nothing particularly difficult in that except the part where you stop caring about yourself or others. But just bc our nice old granny could do that, but doesn't, that is not what will make her virtuous and she would absolutely still be open to valid criticism even insisted that she is controling the monster within her by not doing that.
"...and then learn how to control it"
Yeah Peterson, that is what most of us do already, we all know we could be monsters, but we don't act on that most of the time, bc it is not very productive to our long-term goals even if it would be immediately gratifying and emotionally satisfying in the moment.
That is a daily struggle for most people to varying degrees and there is nothing special or particularly insightful about that.

You may find it easy to identify solutions to your struggle but this movie resonanted with so many people for a reason.
BTW Peterson a bitter asshole who works for an evil asshole representing the worst of corporate interests but calling his early lectures mundane is just dumb. It's a take that is repeated like it's unique but the way those lectures spread and resonanted clearly had something insightful and that there was nothing of value inside those statements is to ignore what we are talking about now.

So movies and fantasy and anime, got it bro. Kenshin is an anime, there is no reward in that in the real world. Sorry to burst this bubble but being nice and kind doesn't actually get you laid in most cases. Also, the doctor is once again, made up as is Aragorn. Using movies is nice, but where is the real world action from it? Men problem solve for sex. We want to have sex. How do we get women to have sex with us in the real world? Being dominant and showing assertiveness. No, I'm not saying treat everyone like an asshole. I am, however, saying that that literally has been proven to get you laid more than being nice ever has. Why? Because being an asshole means you're looking out for yourself, standing up for yourself, etc. Women might SAY one thing, but their actions dictate the entire opposite. Their pussy does not get wet simply because you were a kind gentleman to her. That is an unfortunate truth in reality. Also, how you look in terms of physical attractiveness plays a key role in everything first and foremost. You can have 2 dudes: 1 looks like the average man and the other looks ripped af. She either wouldn't notice what the first one says or no matter what he says she's already assigned him "guilty" as we see in so many videos between youtube, tiktok, reality at the actual gyms themselves, etc. The 2nd dude, the ripped af guy, he could say the most hateful shit to her, period, and at least 75 to 100% of the time she actually would not care. Again, reality proves entirely different from what women say and what they do.
Women are attracted to power and dominance. This has been proven time and time again throughout all of human history and unless they get robot brains, they're never going to turn that part of their brain off. That's a million years of evolution programmed into it and biology, it just simply isn't going to ever turn off.

“Men lead, women follow” Ok, but I like following, it’s fun! Honestly, I really like this quote because it’s states the quiet part of gendered dating dynamics out loud. It’s especially telling how these alpha male types value sexual dominance so highly to a point of comedy. It’s frankly very annoying and distressing at this point when I hear this dynamic of men lead, women follow as the only dynamic that can exist between men and women when I know for fact that it isn’t. It’s also very strange how the sigma female stuff isn’t really even trying to get women to really be the ones leading; it’s rather getting them to “lead from the follow position” which I would imagine leads to really bad and unfortunate situations. I will also say, as someone who likes a more “alpha” partner, being a leader who can “sweep someone off their feet” is good and sexy even. Being a domineering and terrible person is not. I want a partner who can lead me by captivating me with security and trust and confidence, not someone who fear and manipulation to control. If you want a more “beta” partner, talk with people, know thy self, gain some self-security, and talk to people, and when you see someone that you are interested in, be confident, treat them with respect, and hopefully you are able to entice them with your sense of self-security and confidence.

Thank you for making this video! It's a topic I am very passionate about.
My first contact with the manosphere was through the lens of incels in early 2019. A member of a mental health support discord server I was a part of said they were feeling depressed and called themselves an incel. This led me down a deepdive into the subject and I ended up joining a server set up by incredible people who tried helping people move away from the incel label and get out of the trap of the manosphere through empathy, reflection and companionship. The last part of the video where you talk about things we (you, I or anyone) could do is extremely overlooked in conversations about the topic. It is easy to point at the popular figures and laugh at their ridiculous ideas or how they constantly contradict themselves but one thing we should not ignore is that there's a reason so many young men are drawn to these characters. They seem to offer understanding and support which is something that has never been in more demand than now in our supercapitalist and individualist culture. Unfortunately the supply for these things is abysmal and so most young people, but especially men, are left stranded with their own insecurities and struggles. Which is where the seemingly successfull, confident, built people swoop in and honeytrap them with false promises of success. The lesson I learned through practice on that discord server is that the only actual "antidote" to this kind of sitatuion is actually listening and talking to the people involved.
The findings of Reeves align with my personal experience on the subject of incels (which isn't a part of the manosphere but almost every incel is inside the manosphere from my experience). When there was a survey on the server about 70% (Sample size of roughly 120 and it's been a few years so by no means is this conclusive evidence) incels were people of colour and around 30% were either properly diagnosed with a form of autism or adhd or suspected that they were on the spectrum. These factors can amplify the dread, confusion and fear many people experience when becoming an adult due to their personal experiences being dominated by these factors. Sisyphus 55 called it "The trauma of becoming an adult" in one of their videos and that stuck to me.
I'm a firm believer that talking to people solves a lot of issues. Friends, strangers on the internet or, even better, trained professionals. I'm only a stranger on the internet but I have seen multiple people escape their dreadful mindset and become more at ease with themselves and the world thanks to other people listening to and talking with them.
We as individuals can't do any of the (in my opinion necessary) systemic changes ourselves but what we can do is be more like a silverback: Proactively compassionate, deescalating and most importantly be there. Don't let other people be lonely if you have the energy necessary for it.
I don't know where exactly I am going with this, I'm afraid I got a bit rambly but your video struck a cord unlike many others on the subject.
Thank you again for taking the time to put this into such a well crafted video.
If any of you who actually read through all of this above feel lonely, just want to chat or something like that, feel free to shoot me a friend request on discord: Name is "looskiss". Don't worry, I'm not selling anything ;) I'm just a dude who is struggling like you.

Just like there are things MOST men are supposed to do, woman also have a SHORTER list of things, but since WOMEN file 80% or more of the divorces, it is clear woman become more and more dissatisfied with the man soon after marriage or long term relationship, thus they start "testing" men with small things or concessions... but in general if she doesnt want to do the things you do, I am all for it IF SHE TEHN LEAVES YOU ALONE, but normally they NEED the man to be involved in teh things THEY like, or it is teh man that women expect to make things happen, like pay for all things she wants to do, this is a main reason they invite him, I guess. But man has many things they like and can do by themselves.

Why would that be?? well each time we go out or order in or travel, I am paying most of it, and even discussing it is out of bounds, the tears and attitudes and silent treatment etc... I have gotten a lot better at this as I age, but still if a woman lives in the same place bank account gets smaller.

Tobias Eaton aka 'Four' in the movie "Divergent." While navigating the corrupt system, he has his own way of doing things. A realist. A closet idealist. Strong in mind and spirit. Humble. Actions speak louder than words. Handsome and ripped is obviously a nice bonus. In real life, Shailene Woodley said she liked working with a 'dominant force.' At first, your video seemed like a genuine enough take, however quickly realized that you are not arguing in good faith, nor using the full context of many situations. As well as not giving any focus to the actual point/argument that’s being made.
More so focusing on “character assassination” and why their options shouldn’t matter/are contradictive rather than the heart of the argument.
You spend most the time covering the “false idols” with a series of constricting clips seemly displaying their hypocrisy. However, this is utterly a weak argument and in most cases you are leaving out important context, while also completely ignoring the fact that they may be making a valid point.
At the risk of coming off as condescending I’ll just say that “character assassin” is a lazy “one size fits all” tactic of argument that essentially aims to discredit the source of the information there by implying that none of their opinions have value. No one is gona take you seriously if your not debating the actual substance. Anything else is a circle jerk echo chamber pointless bullshit.
There are several instances were you do this without even giving consideration tone/ point and if you do it’s in an incredibly bias way.
    Some examples:
    > Andrew Tate promoting the value of work over happiness. There is the basic “workaholic” argument to be made, but really irrelevant to his point. Which is basically the chicken and the egg argument. Do you think anyone can expect to be happy without some hard work involved? Does happiness create hard work? That doesn’t even make sense. If working makes Andrew happy then he is happy. Who are you to say otherwise? The work will lead to more freedom. You even say “I don’t know” like your not letting yourself come to the logical conclusion.
    > Myron having lack of emotional control and getting angry with women. I think if you add context to the situation you may even have some sympathy for Myron. Their podcasts are in Miami, and therefore a certain type of women which are 90% in the entertainment industry (stripper, model,OF creator) . Combined with the fact that he’s leading and responsible for the quality of the podcast.
While he may be quick to react, it’s often as a proactive measure to establish boundaries so other women don’t degrade the quality of the podcast as well and behave similarly . I think in most cases where a woman got kicked off she was lowering the quality of the podcast and would have continued to do so if not removed. Pearl Davis often compliments Myron’s ability to manage a podcast of this type often saying “I don’t know how he does it”.
    > Pearl Davis blaming relationship issues and divorce on women being selfish. Consider the following factors: no fault divorce, feminism promoting “strong independent woman”, death of religion, individualistic society rather than family oriented, women’s ability to more easily find a new partner, and social media to compound that access and perceived options. And what do you get when you combine it all?
You get over 50% divorce rates while 80% of them are initiated by women.
Now this is the part where your probably going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume she had a good reason. But I’m sure the alimony/child support payments never effect her decision. Money definitely doesn’t incentive people to do things right?
    > Your spinning of the traditional argument. As if they are stuck in the past and not embracing progress or “ challenging norms”. And yet we have 40 year old women freezing their eggs or losing the opportunity to ever have a family because they prioritized their career their entire life. If you extrapolate your perspective over multiple generations you get people who’s perspectives and values aren’t perpetuated into the future and therefore do not impact humanity in the long term.
This world changing “progressive” ideology you seem to be proud of will be more like a whimper in the time line of humanity and will be replaced by those who followed the more traditional path. It’s pretty simple, just look who is having children. Religious conservative people and the Amish.
    > I don’t see the point on spending too much time regarding the fictional characters (Bateman, Durtan). Cause you know…. They’re fictional…. If anything these movies/characters are used as meme fuel to convey certain ideas. So it’s not surprising you see these everywhere in the “Mano sphere”. So your saying people shouldn’t worship fictional movie characters? Tell women to stop watching Barbie.
You make the criticism that men idolize these men and then talk about the true meaning behind of the movie as if your the only one capable of understanding.
Is it not possible that men can both appreciate the character and the growth/downfall of said character simultaneously?
    > While I appreciate you covering the “dark fem” issue it’s not a 1 to 1 compared to the “red pill/Mano sphere”. While one is almost entirely toxic/manipulative the other has many layers of truth and wisdom that can lead to a better life for a man who is struggling as a loser for lack of a better term.
Overall while these icons may not be perfect at least men have something to look too.
Who should men look to in your opinion?

Always see people making essays about the red pill. At least you you bring up some of the issue that could push these men to that ideology but ultimately you won't go full in because it also means you will have to criticize women. Most women when they say they want women when they say they want men to show emotions refer to them. They want us to not dismiss their emotions and pay attention. Most of the time women will say they want a man to show emotions but not too much. How am i suppose to know where that limit is. I saw a jubilee vid that went viral recently there was a guy there who cried the women rate him last in terms of attractiveness . Of course if i ask you if it is ok for men to cry and show emotions you will say yes but in practice it's completely different. And i had the same issue .The first time a woman i was dating cried in front of me i was not sure how to react, what to say. And it has been proven when women are faced with men having an emotional moment most of the time they will end up feeling less of them. Most women still want men to make more than them. Even though nowadays more and more women are getting higher positions making more money. You don't need to be a genius in numbers to realize how this cant work. Since men who make money for the most part don't care about women's finance. And if you're gonna say not all women. I have dated a woman who made more than me once and i will never do that again. The moment there's issues and arguments she always throws that fact in my face and tried to shame me for it. So that's why I don't accept shit or gifts from women. You say men don't need to be aggressive. Let's say you were in the street and a guy assaulted you and your boyfriend instead of jumping in to defend you, he ran or started to beg that guy to stop, tell me you will still be attracted to that guy.

True. There are women that can make compromises, but most just can't. They do want a man to look up to. Both physically (length) and in terms of merit and status. A career woman making stacks, will only look up to a man making even more stacks. Like you, I have real life examples backing it up. A crying man is indeed seen as useless, superficially at least. It's ok if your mom died and there's a tear or two.. if she's known you for like 10+ years. She on the other hand, may cry a river if there's some super vague relative that just kicked the bucket. The crazier ones do it at work too.. and it's supposed to be acceptable, because well she's a girl and don't be horrible you lout. It's just biology and it won't change any earlier than in 20 generations time.
This video is one of the better anti-manosphere video's I've seen. At least it proposes somewhat realistic solutions like bringing back male teachers. Otherwise it's just "be yourself".. Well, if you just are yourself, prepare to be alone. As a man, you have to achieve stuff. Even women treat making friends like work.. and that actually does the trick. Don't be yourself, get out there and make something out of your life! It's always been this way, and it will never change. Women having careers, just raised the bar a lot.

There are manosphere types who like to emphasize the women saying that, as if to demonstrate that women's suffrage/liberation was a mistake that women now regret. But I see it from a different perspective: Almost nobody really _wants_ to have a job. Most of us would love it if we could just stay at home doing stuff we enjoy instead of making sure we have food and shelter. Some women actually do enjoy being home with their kids and would choose that if given the opportunity (which the average household can't afford on one income). But I think the whole, "men are obligated to financially support me" thing is just a shitty way for those women to justify the fact that they don't want to work. And most of the time, it's a warning sign that they don't even want to take care of the household, but instead want to be a lazy sponge.

This shit is really simple. You dont see other animals deliberately changing mating strategy. At the end of the day, when serious events take place, we all revert back to our biology.
Sure with time things will change and we can live in some woke future. In due time. Us playing this accelerated game of changing the way we mate select and the roles we take is the underlying problem in society in this new age.
I want this progressive future, where we all understand relate and respect eachother. Thats not gonna happen though if we cant truthfully relate with eachother and understand the real life biological urges and emotions that drive men and woman. Instead we seem to believe biology plays a smaller role than it does, and end up disregarding it entirley, and shunning our natural emotions because we are supposed to be living these progressive new lives. Evolution doesnt work that fast. There will absolutely be a huge push back against this new hyper progressive culture and solely because we are trying to change the natural order way to fast. Unfortunately we wont see the problems this culture has created for another 7 years when all the marriages fail and birth rates decline and depression and self deletion skyrocket.

Having testosterone doesn't mean you need some cringe identifier like "alpha male", and it doesn't mean you need to prove you're tough. However, in almost every criticism I've seen, people spend very little time actually talking about the most important thing, how these guys get all these followers. Even in this video, only a few minutes of the runtime is dedicated to the fact that a big reason why this movement continues to persist is that most of society ignores the plight and hardship of young men. I'd offer up only 1 critique to your video (which was very great), there really needs to be a societal reconfiguration about what men are allowed to be. This includes women also facing what kinds of things they are attracted to in men as well as men confronting the constructions of patriarchal masculinity. One of the reasons why men feel the need to be hypermasculine is because women, being more financially and socially successful than ever before has created this pressure on men who still being held to protector/provider patriarchal standards feel that they must compete and succeed on a much higher level. Things such as willingness to financially and socially "date down" need to become more common amongst women. We *all* need to drop these expectations of men and the only criticism of this video that I have is that it leaned a bit too heavy on the male side of things without addressing any expectations that women may have of men.
Actually one more critique haha. When explaining the "manosphere" it is important to point out the lifestyle portrayed by these content creators is made to affirm. When shown that living lavish lifestyles with money, respect and women is the prize for pursuing and achieving the ideal masculinity under patriarchy it is really hard for young men to look at that and then refuse it. Due to it being pretty true that achieving that sort of patriarchal ideal masculine will gain you more access to women and respect from society, the lie is that most men or even some men can achieve it, it is simply an affirmation of the system that ultimately oppresses men and everyone in society, that being late-stage patriarchal capitalism (capitalism as it exists under a patriarchal paradigm).
Really good video! Hope these critiques aren't taken in bad faith, they are ultimately just things i personally would have wanted to hear more from the video. Have a good one and good luck!

Well put, and I had similar thoughts after watching the videos; something I noticed with the online discourse that tries to deconstruct the "Manosphere" is that they always come up short in understanding the lived experiences of the men most vulnerable to these narratives and men at large, while ironically infantilizing women in their role regarding social change. Encouraging men to be more open and supportive of each other and not reinforce toxic masculinity is good. Still, I feel women's role in supporting patriarchy and being harmful in how they navigate the social world is consistently underplayed in these circles. I'm not saying it's all women's fault or responsibility to improve things. Still, the complete lack of challenging patriarchal norms, like men primarily being the pursuers, leads to impossible expectations and narratives of worth on both sides because, to some extent, worthiness is pre-defined by this dynamic. I, and I'm sure many men, will find it very difficult ever to open up because we've seen how men can be humiliated directly without push back socially or indirectly by hearing about another man's lowest point through a woman whom they made the mistake of trusting. I'm not trying to say that a man can't open up or trust anyone, but from my experience, the narrative that there are "Nice" people out there can be just as much a narrative as whatever the Manosphere presents as reality. Don't get me started on morality and carrying oneself in a way that aligns with values beyond what is good for one's self; feminism and the left have let the right and manosphere own those ideas and wholly failed in trying to encourage women to carry themselves in a 'moral' way if that makes sense. Maybe this is misogynistic, but most women I've met in my life are allergic to accountability and deeply patriarchy in how they carry themselves despite what they claim to believe.
