Curious if you are still running this gearing - I haven't touched my gearing on my FZ09 yet and I definitely see what you mean with fumbling through gears at certain points at Jennings. I will say my tuned 09 with a sprint filter will do 120+ mph in 4th gear so on the back "straight" when I'm blasting out of 2 I'll up shift to 5 but then smack it right back down to 4 as I'm entering into turns 3-4-5. I also don't even get up to 5th on the front because its so short and I'll just stay in 4th. I find myself struggling to find the right gearing for certain parts of the track and sometimes feel like I'm bogging down in the turns but shouldn't be, especially with the amount of low down power with this bike. Had considered making some gearing changes since Jennings will be the track I spend pretty much every track day at. Hope to see you there again soon - looking to try and get there at the beginning of march potentially but then will be back with Corsa in late April for a full weekend.
I was running 15/47 for a while until last track weekend. I'm testing 16/47 now as I want to try and reduce some snatchiness/jerking during mid rpm maintenance throttle and also corner exit. So far I am liking the 16/47. I downshift to 4th going through turn 3 and then once more into turn 4. Both 15/47 or 16/47 are decent gearing set ups for JGP. I am also running a 190/55 RS11. I weight about 165lb with full gear.
Ive noticed the stock gearing is limited. It just doesnt have enough power the pull fast north of 120. I weigh 300 with leathers on an fj09. I think just dropping to a 15 will help the bike carry me higher speeds. I discovered this on my last track day at road atlanta. I wrecked my 14 r1 on t5/t6 at Jennings. Fun stuff haha
