I've never seen a more ludicrous demonstration of how annoying Excavator is than watching him absorb a wall of flaming projectiles from several maxed plants and being perfectly fine. Why couldn't they just give the shovel durability like Screen Doors?

@melvint-p9500 I never said he's difficult, because he really isn't, as Fume Shroom and Laser Bean totally hard counter him and Parasol. If anything Relic Hunters and Parachute Rains are way tougher. I just said he's annoying, because Popcap decided to eliminate all the other options for counterplay that we used to have, like Spikeweed, Magnet-Shroom, and sheer massive damage output. He's a one trick that feels cheap and is far too common.

Jester finally countered a Chinese exclusive plant instead of being overshadowed by nunchaku and hammer and I'm kinda proud of him for that.

@@hy7864 Made to do that, and only do that. What amateraceon means is plants which synergise but work just fine without it. Mints and Torchwood are made with their synergies in mind.

The OG plants from PVZ1 seems like they've adapted more of military style
Well they did mention in the pvz1 game about some of the plants being veterans. They also mention a war that was clearly referring to the Vietnam. Its not out of no were.
@@shadowmist4318 maybe the war was pvz online (or whatever the facebook game was) and the ones we saw were only one part of the battleground, many were lost like beeshooter, and we all mourn there loss (that got dark quick)

@@valsang2350 I have only played about 20% of the facebook game. You can't play the game anymore but it was PVZ1 before the zombie invasion or at least at the start of it. The purple fog turned people into zombies. Dave and zomboss worked together to develop the plants. There was more stuff but I don't wanna bore you to death with info.

I love the Flame Queen, she's so cool! And the returning plants are all done really nicely! Cob Cannon seems alright, but Cattail and Pea Gatling are so fun to watch.

Cobcannon should be buffed a bit since banana launcher also takes up one slot and in theory would be more practical to grab and go since they’re basically the same outside of design

i like how the almanac implies that gatling pea was a normal pea with a minigun for some reason and got fused with it from a lightning

Honestly the shining star here is actually matchflower boxer here to me, i mean look at him! Having synergies with both pea and flame plants is cool, it clearly demonstrates that he is a support dmg dealer, and being a key plant to tie together pea/flame plant into a synegy is ooooh god *chevs kiss*

i feel like with a little adjusting matchflower boxer could be a great plant the main problem is that it seems to be too weak and the flame isnt permeant

@@randomdude9630 eh, I think it’s a decent way to balance it. It gets to be a melee plant and torchwood. If anything I’d say maybe increase the damage a little.
Matchboxer flower looks like a really well made plant. Compared to other exlusive things in PvZ2C and even the international version it’s really well made and fleshed out.
It's actually called Matchflower Boxer, not Matchboxer Flower. I don't think Matchboxer is even a word

Fun fact about Firebloom Queen: She was released in Chinese version before Pyre Vine debut in International version since both can unleash fire trail when zombie get close until they’re defeated.
It seems cattail has softened up since pvz 1, as they feel ok with actually saying meow, at least according to it's almanac entree
This is the same plant that would go "woof" because they "refuse to be pigeonholed." I don't get why suddenly they meow so readily.
I also wouldn't take Cattail for the type to consider being cute an "all-solving hammer."

An all-solving hammer is anything that's subject to the same principles, and is treated as a solution to *every* problem, often to the point of being a running gag. You can see the idea in action in Annoying Orange's "How2 Play Monopoly," in which Orange says that you can "flip out" of any of your life's problems, *including jail time.* (please please *please* don't try this at home)

So many of these older plants are really cool, the dedication and attention that went into them is probably what makes them so great compared to the newer plants which are either extremely underwhelming, or a really obvious attempt at trying to get the player to fork over a bit of cash because of their power
Yes, Chinese plants are good. Expect that with it flaws, Chinese and international have different flaws but because international lack Sprite and animation nowaday,Chinese might be better even with it flaws.

Probably the most interesting and well designed lineup of plants, there's synergy, they seem worth their price, and the concepts are cool. Hell, add some polish and some of these would probably fit right in with the international plants.

@Sally Trip this is because, in chinese, made up names are formed by mixing other words and descriptions, which happens purely because of how the language works
to get real full on pvz names for the plants, it would require the translator to do the work, and because there isnt an official translation, we only have the fan translations

I have one problem with Cattail:
In its description, it says "Meow Meow Meow", but if you read the description from PvZ 1 their whole thing was barking to go against the expectations of being cat-like.
The only explanation i have is that war, war changes people

Actually since fire peas don't have splash in PvZ2, it's much better than you think
For example in frostbite caves endless, a good strategy is winter melon and fire peashoter

Matchflower Boxer seems pretty well made and well animated. Prob one of the most developed plants in the chinese version

i adore the cob canon redesign. well being a lightning plant isnt as important as a fire plant or ice plant, is cattail considered a lightning plant?
It is part of a plant family with other lightning plants, so technically yes.

These plants seem more balanced than most others you've covered, and I love that Cattail is actually pretty well balanced!

My favorite plant in PVZ1 was the cattail, so i am happy to hear about it in PVZ 2. They even kept the trademark dead body targetting!

Matchflower is actually super interesting, leads to a lot of potential synergies
Pvz needs more synergy plants, but emphasis on _synergy,_ the mints aren't synergy, it's just make plants better
Torchwood is a synergy plants, even if a simple one
More stuff like this based around other elements would be cool
Banana Launcher:
-Quick recharge
-500 sun cost
-does 1x3 area damage (almost enough to kill a Buckethead)
-Takes 18 seconds to arm itself
-Takes up one seed slot and one tile
Cob Cannon:
-Has twice the recharge of a Banana Launcher
-Same sun cost as Banana Launcher
-700 sun cost (500 base sun cost + 200 sun for kernel-pults)
-Deals as much damage as Banana Launcher in a 3x3 area
-Takes 3 business days to arm itself
-Takes not one, but TWO seeds slots and TWO tiles, which you could use for 2 Banana Launchers

Now that this happened, I will comment on the other overanalyzing videos how the names actually were like.
Matchflower Boxer = Match Flower
Reason: The matches on his head can be lit, like real-life matches.
Flame Flower Queen = Firebloom Queen
Reason: Literally the same reason as the translation.
Matchbox flower has a super simple name for it
Match boxer... Like how do you miss that?
Excavator can survive a nuclear bomb if he just faced his shovel towards it.
We don't need Excavator for that, Parasol as aerial defense shuts down most stuff

Is there any reason behind the older plants having much more attention to detail with their interactions compared to the newer plants? I've noticed that the plants that came out later tend to have unreflectable projectiles
I believe, correct me if I'm wrong here that the game was sold to another company at some time. The game's quality is a result of this.
I feel like fire queen is one of the only other plants to be just as broken as monkeyfruit, but its sad how they did my boy corn cannon dirty.
For the last upgrade plant he should be wayy better than Banana Launcher.
Cattail is actually better than firebloom queen, cattail only costs 325 sun and targets the whole board, meanwhile firebloom costs 450 and only targets a single lane with a 3x3 splash, firebloom also needs leveling to be decent while cattail doesnt. also you dont know how easy memory lane levels are with cattail existing

Cattail still sucks in crowds because they only target one zombie and if it’s armored, it struggles even more. Not to mention it targets dead zombies.
Firebloom Queen is strong on its own. Imagine Dragonfruit but for higher cost, you get more damage, stronger Plant Food, and her close range attack to prevent her from getting ganked.
@@Hizelly76 For plants this expensive 120 is not that big of a difference, and the single target on cattail is terrible for the common large hordes of late game, and most levels are actually pretty long so you should have a lot of sun.

Both are equally op in their own rights.
Gatling Pea:
-Crowd Control in adjacent lanes.
-Increased fire rate.
-Last upgrade breaks how certain zombies are supposed to work against him.
Mega Pea Gatling:
-Fast Shot Speed is an understatement.
-Randomly Plant Foods.
-Gains a damage buff from Plant Food. Permanently.
Honestly, the international version is better, so you are right on how it’s more balanced, but that’s to say it’s not op at all.

Flame Flower Queen is hands down my favourite plant so far. She's so cool and the amount of effort that seemingly went into her is incredible compared to other plants in the Chinese version

Honestly think matchflower boxer should not set themselves on fire without another plant. I feel like it makes them more interesting, cos it makes you have to work together with other plants to make it better n I think that's interesting
My favorite one so far because it introduces rather powerful plants, such as Gatling Pea & Matchflower Boxer, basically a stronger Bonk Choy.
