I presently drive a 2023 Hyundai Venue Limited...because it is what I can afford and it fits my needs. I love my "cheap runabout". I'm not impressed with 2 big guys cramming their "plus size" frames into small cars and complaining about the lack of power and room. This looks like a very good car and great value for the money. Nissan is producing some great vehicles these days.
There are only about 10 cars left in the US that you can buy for under 25k this is one of them so I appreciate that it exists for people in need of affordable transportation.
It is an affordable and nice car for the price. The only issue with the 2025 is that it’s not got anything new! (Maybe that’s how they kept the price low?) I have the 2022 Sentra and this new model is *exactly* the same.
Thank you Nathan for being realistic and positive on this affordable new vehicle. I wouldn't buy a new vehicle but the low price on this makes it affordable in the used market for a newer year model.
I love my 2023 Sentra SV. It is the best looking compact car IMO. I have driven it for 18,000 miles so far and I'm averaging 39.7 mpg. I got heated seats, heated steering wheel as part of the All Weather Package and bought it for less than $23,000. It has enough power for my needs and the CVT is very smooth. I do wish that Nissan would offer the SR trim with a more potent engine and their excellent 8 speed transmission.
I have a 22 and I love it. I traded in my 2016 Sentra Base trim on the 22 SV. Coming from the 1.8 to the 2.0 engine it is much faster and accelerates plenty for me!
The interior of this Sentra is better than both Corolla and Civic. Its only rival would be the Elantra and Forte. This car looks awesome both inside andand outside out, very practical as well for a basic commuter car. Roman is very negative expecting so much more for less. The car has everything someone needs for the price. When you add turbo, heated rear seats, AWD, bigger wheels/tires, fog lights, extra usb outlets for the back seats, led tail lights, bigger spoiler etc you enter full size luxury sedan prices of $41k and above.
It seemed to me Roman is spoiled by vehicles wealthy people can afford. Up to $30K is at my financial limits i don’t need all the extras like back seat power connections for phones sunroof etc on & on. If getting less options means a lower price I’m ok with that get me places reliable.
Before I made a decision, I test drove a Sentra and a Corolla Hatchback, because the dealers are right next to each other in my area. The Corolla had more power and drove a lot better. Also, the Corolla HB is made in Japan, whereas the Sentra was made in Mexico, so the fit and finish on the Corolla was superior. At the end of the day, I went with the Corolla.
I love when Nathan and Roman are together, Nathan is the only TFL guy with the balls to disagree with Roman and rib him a bit along the way 😂😂 gets Roman flustered 😂
Its way cheaper than toyota and honda.and has more interior space. The trunk is huge for the segment. I have a 2019 sentra with 100k on the clock, no issues. I just changed the cvt fluid, it wasnt even burnt. Just tires and the back shock so far. Factory brakes are still good all the way around.
Right. I’ve driven FWD my whole life in the Midwest. And drove with my FWD 2020 Corolla SE in the mountains in Colorado. From Denver to Silverthorne and back every day in the winter when it was too bad we just stayed in because it was stupid to drive that highway in crappy weather anyways.
Totally agree - with snow tires in Wisconsin winters. Also drove my 2011 Altima to Winterpark CO area up Berthoud pass during a snowstorm & got through 6" snow with half-worn snow tires FWD only.
Guys! ... You didn't even drive it to the limits. The SR for $25K brand new (might be able to negotiate less), premium interior, and 38 MPG highway with a sporty drive, all with a warranty it's an amazing value. Add a strut tower brace, beefier sway bars, performance shocks and tires, I think it would vastly improve the handling and cornering and make it even more fun to drive than it already is stock. The fun factor to dollar spent is very high with the Sentra SR.
Roman is such an old man. "I want my old version from 1990!". I am not a Nissan guy but they are moving the styling needle and CVT quality needle. Roman is wrong about that old Corolla. That is ancient. Tiny inside.
"moving CVT quality needle" is more like slowly catching up to everyone else's cvts, Hondas cvt was always reliable, the newer gen nissans at least have good interior electronics and styling
@devildog5354- have you driven the recent Subaru CVT? Especially in the Crosstrek with the bigger motor? You will be surprised!. It doesn’t hold max RPM like this Sentra does. Foot to the floor acceleration, even out of sport mode the transmission has shift points. It can take that because it’s solely built by Subaru. The shifting does maximize the torque of the motor vs redlining. It sounds decent. It also has a sport mode that makes a difference. The Wilderness models get the transmission out of the Outback if I remember right and are enabled for towing up to 3500 lbs. the Outback can only tow 2700 lbs with the same transmission. Not all CVTs are the same. I used to say they all were absolutely crap!! I was extremely biased, especially with towing! I learned that there are the Subaru CVTs that have come a long way and I believe lead the pack right now. We have one because my wife wanted to downsize, but hated the CorollaCross, just didn’t like anything except the Subaru Crosstrek. She loves it! Went from a Grand Cherokee 4xe to a Crosstrek Limited (in Canada) and she is happy!! I really don’t mind driving it even. It’s no one of my 4x4 trucks, but it’s not meant to be.
I have a 2020 Corolla with the CVT and I’m more used to that now than all of our other vehicles with 6-9 speed transmission’s. I love the gas mileage as I live on the west coast now and that’s expensive. I’ve had 4 vehicles with cvts now and I’ve had 0 issues. Of course all of them were Toyota built CVTs so they haven’t been problematic for us. And they actually have a launch gear that works quite flawlessly in my opinion and helps take the stress off of the initial launch of the car.
@@LishDetails93 - Toyota don’t build their CVTs. Aisin does. The same company that builds CVTs for almost all the other automakers, including Nissan & Jeep(when they used them). Aisin is getting better, but has not been problem free for Toyota. Problem free for you. For every broken unit there are 60 to as high as 98 other units that have not broken. 60% rate of survival would be abysmal, but then so is anything less than 95%. It often sounds like all the units are failing, or all the vehicles have the same problem, but it depends on the end use, most Corollas Judson drive & they don’t tow anything, but once you get into SUVs, that’s not the case. Towing builds heat fast in a CVT, and that’s the main problem.
a 2.0 naturally aspirated under stressed engine with the manual transmission at that low price is not bad. Just depends if the rest of the car will hold up. It dosen't look bad.
If i were them all i would want are $80K vehicles. Maybe Roman is disconnecting from lower entry viewers. Maybe don’t include him on budget rides he’s not interested in.
Roman is just saying what he and most consumers would and do choose... He is playing what we call Devils Advocate to our beloved Nathan ... Don't take it personally kids
I think that when you’re selling a vehicle at this price point you shouldn’t be so harsh on it. I would absolutely buy this car. I’ve driven them and I honestly could say it’s hard to find anything at this point that is decent.
Fun fact: the "sport" mode button is on the shift lever. its the white line button. why there? why not labeled? God only knows. Drives me nuts when i see it lol.
Sentra and Altima do have sport mode buttons. On the back of the shift knob look for the small white "-". It will hold revs good for downhill, climbing, or just feeling a little zippy in corners.
After tax/tag/freight/discount/premium in my area there is a $8-10k difference between a Sentra and a Civic/Corolla ($20k vs $28-$30k). Plus the financing rates are less than half.
Yep! Here in Dallas, Toyota dealers are still refusing to discount 2024 Corollas so even a base 2024 Corolla LE gasoline sedan is like 26k out the door. On the other hand, Dallas Nissan dealers are offering new 2024 Sentras for $3000 under MSRP so I can buy a mid trim 2024 Nissan Sentra SV for 21k out the door. So even the mid trim Nissan Sentra SV is $5000 cheaper than the bare bones base trim Corolla LE. Big price difference
That car is actually 29,320 dollars as Nathan stated at 11:40 so yeah... Not any cheaper than a more reliable car that's not as comfortable... Which will come in handy when waiting for the tow truck...
@@toyyoda3710 the reason why it’s $29,320 is because it’s the fully loaded top trim Sentra SR with the Premium Package. Fully loaded top trim Corollas/Civics are also almost 30k. Difference is, you can negotiate a big dealer discount on the new Sentra unlike the Corolla/Civic
@@johnkonde1975Idk I just got an EX-L Civic Hatchback for 12% off msrp. I test drove all 3 and the Sentra was number 2. The Civic was such a good deal I couldn’t pass it up but I found the trick to be going to one of the smaller Honda dealers. They worked with me much more than the larger one.
A used corolla is better than a new sentra. So you buy a corolla with 25k miles on it for nearly same price and it will go 200k probably. The sentra will be falling apart halfway to that
Trying to cram large people in small spaces to see if they fit sounds perfectly logical to me. If you stick a 5'4 person for every test all we will hear is "so much room!" When infact the size of the room you have actually matters more to larger sized people.
I’m team Nathan on this one. While I respect opinion, I also respect good journalism and professionalism. Nathan was doing a great job pointing out some of the features and design elements of the Sentra. Roman made it awkward by disagreeing with everything Nathan was saying and then deflecting anything positive into an irrelevant point. Im not trying to hate on Roman as I’ve been watching their videos since they started on TH-cam, and have always loved watching them. But this seemed more of a matter of a biased opinion rather than a fair presentation on a rather good looking vehicle with good features. Nate broke up his review with things he liked and things he thought could use some thought. Also if you have become one of the many that are obsessed with trucks and SUVs and ONLY trucks and SUVs then please stick to that. There are still people out here that appreciate small and practical FWD commuters for what they have done for decades. If you are a decent driver you can easily get by with good snow tires and FWD. you said it yourself when you drove the F-150 and the Subaru Outback with Tommy that you guys felt more control in the Subaru with good snow tires than even the F-150. And I myself am not ready to purchase and maintain a truck. I didn’t need a truck when I lived in Colorado and I sure as hell don’t need one in Oregon. I was there all winter and my Corolla got me everywhere I needed to go. I drove it from Bottineau ND down to Denver CO, back up to Bottineau, then back down to Denver by myself again no problem in February in my FWD Corolla SE. you don’t NEED a truck or SUV with AWD, you want one. And I get it, but please, this is a car that most people could get by with for daily transport around town, to and from work, to school and back again. It will do that very well, and if you drive well and have good tires you’ll be just fine!
That was way too long. But I read it for one reason and one reason only, and that is because my comments are far too long. But now I get. Anyway, his points may be biased, but still relevant nonetheless. One more thing, use the Enter/Return key at least every 4 lines. It will still be long, but a lot easier to read.
Wow you took the words right out of my mouth!!! This whole suv and crossover love affair is lame a f**k. They all look as godam ugly. And like you said if ya know how to drive, snow storms in a fwd ain’t shit! I’m from north east Pennsylvania and get some big snow storms and never ever had a problem getting anywhere in fwds!! The dude in the blue coat is a lame ass hater.
“The lust after or aspire to comment” made me think. So many of us are struggling now that getting anywhere near a car we actually want is such a luxury.
For an economy class car, the design and fit and finish all look very good at the price point. Nissan was brave to try out CVT and now most CVTs are reliable.
I don't need an economy car but this is awesome. Sporty exterior and nice interior. Those Nissan seats. The price. Excellent car for someone that needs a ride
I am a contractor in Aspen / Glenwood Springs. Right in the mountains. I drive a 2 wheel drive Ford Transit Van 250. For the past 8 years I get by just fine with 2 wheel drive. I install new studded snow tires every fall and have no problems with getting stuck
My mother in law had a 2021 Nissan Sentra. I actually drove it once and it drove surprisingly nice and the CVT seemed better than my old Honda Civic rubber band CVT. It is pretty roomy as well. I’m 5’8 and in the front and back and it’s good! She had the SR trim too.
Great car (with the manual) for the money. 100,000 sold in 2023 is excellent. 500,000 between the Sentra, Corolla and Civic is HUGE! Another 500,000 between Camry and Accord not to mention the Koreans and Germans. Ppl are clearly still buying sedans/saloons. However, we can't blame Roman for his opinions on this car. He's a rich dude who owns a 911 and ....at TFL he drives some amazing cars. He can't possibly be impressed by a Sentra. I am tho.
It's a great-looking car. It's comfortable. It's refined. It sips fuel. It's affordable. I'd call that a well-rounded car. I still don't trust Nissan CVTs though. This generation came out in 2020 and they were having early CVT failure still. Nathan has the patience of a saint dealing with the constant barrage of petty negativity.
@@johnkonde1975 If the price is nearly the same, definitely the Camry Hybrid. It's one size class larger and it'll likely be more reliable. Plus, the resale value will be better.
@@roxyroller25 there are reports the the CVTs on this generation failing before 30k miles. I saw someone's CVT fail at 1,600 miles and another person's failed at 20k miles.
Great Car! Bought both my girls Sentra’s brand new for College and they are still running strong.. BTW they are 4 Cylinders… simplicity at its finest!!! Thank you Nissan!!!
Audi a3. Easy. Least expensive but most reliable audi. So you have the least to lose off depriciation. Dont buy the other audis unless its an suv because they dont try to go like r8 on them they become so expensive and unreliable. But the suvs cost a lot youll lose more in depriciation so i say audi a3. 35k starting you got it for 40, drive it 10 years sell it for 19,999.98 and you lose 2k a year in depriciation. On the contrary, you buy a new camry for 30k+ as well now, if you get it for 30, you drive it for ten years sell it for 14,999.98 and you lost 15k in depriciation. So you upgrade to the a3 and you only lose a little more in depriciation comparatively since theyre closer to similar prices compared to like an f150 f250. But for that slight extra loss over ten years you have better tech by a lot. Clesrly higher quality but also advancment whuch does effect reliability but i mean toyota is highly advanced now too theyre not all that more reliable anymore. Its not as bad as I thought it would be witu the audi a3 but i wouldnt buy an r8 unless i hit the lottery and didnt care anymore. The a3 is audis least expensive most reliable vehicle. I say its better than a camry except it cost some more and you might want a budget for maintinance if you plan on owning it over 10 years. Or at least thats what i say. A brand new 99 corolla will be more reliable sure but it doesnt have as good of tech cost considerably less because of it. Plus they dont even make em now and the new corollas arent even close to the same quakity as the old ones and also more advanced and junk now. With their cvts Audi a3 makes toyota tech look so old. A3 probably not as reliable as the new camry because its a 2.5 L Na hybrid but the a3 is also a 4 cylinder but its more like a honda with the turbo and also a semi hybrid so i mean toyota sells trucks with plastic beds dude what even kind of reliability is that?!?! Honda sells civic with plastic holding the top of the engine together its sprining leaks at 3000 miles. Honda reliability is gone too. The audi a3 isnt that much less unreliable if youre owning it for 10 years for example. You can say its unreliable low quality but the "ultra reliable civic" has a launchgear cvt and the top of the engine is held together by plastic. The audi a3 is a 7 speed sooooooooo its better. But you pay up compared to corolla. its from germany with the autobahn its electronically limited to 150mph you could go faster with a little adjusting with the laptop but it isnt good idea i say you want it stock so its as reliable as it can be. It weighs a good amount not too heavy or light but just right. The doors are very big and strong like toyotas USED to be. I am still not trusting of higher end audi reliability because the more you spend with audi the more advanced they go the more power they try to suck out and less reliable they get. The a3 however is audis most real world car its the one they want to sell to people upgrading from camrys and accords they need it to be more reliable eventhough its level of advancment is questionable, its actually comparable to these "reliable" vehicles toyota honda and ford is putting out and even arguably better in quality. Theyre doing v6 twin turbo hybrid tundra and v6 twin turbo ranger. 1 turbo more reliable than 2. Soooo... Toyota isnt out of the ring with that either. Theyre not reliable like they were. their 2.5L camry hybrid has 8 injectors on 4 cylinders so i mean reliability is a facade at that point anyway so its not really all that different tbh. A3 isnt built in usa. Theyre built in germany and sent over on a boat. Thats better than a ford made in mexico is it not? A corolla made in japan isnt as good or reliable as an a3 made in germany admit it dude!!! Launchgear cvt vs 7 speed. Pay up sucka its worth it. A3 so good. Audu 7 speed will be more reliable than ford and toyotas 8 and 10 speeds and more reliable than honda and toyotas launchgear cvt. Am i wrong? Am I wrong?
I bought a 23 Sentra SR to commute. I drive roughly 80 miles round trip a day. This car is excellent to travel in. It averages 42-44 mpg on the hwy, and it’s super comfortable. It lacks a little power, because like they said, it only has 149 horsepower. But the chassis is great, it literally handles curves like a sports car. Oh And I paid $29,000 out the door. So it was very affordable.
Learned to drive on a 1994 nissan sentra with a 5 speed (it was brand new at the time). Such an awesome little car. Fast enough, great mpg, plenty of room. Later owned a 97 sentra which was a nice cheap little car (that did rust out like crazy years later).
I learned to drive in the same car. It was so weird bc it was a 1994 and 1/2. I guess they upgraded to ohhh wait for it. Power windows and locks 😂. Hello. How old are we
Nissan hurt their reputation with the early cvts but I think the frontier is a sleeper truck compared to the taco I own Nissan and Toyota and my Toyota has given me some problems I kind of have to roll my eyes when I hear to much Toyota praise
@@DaleWillyno theyre not. I mean there is reliable aspects but nissan is like japans budget toyota and honda redheaded stepchild that gets the abuse of all their failed tech like the jatco cvt. My sister owns an altima and I mean nissan is good about bang for buck but its because they cut corners. You get no launcgeae cvt or 8 speed like a camry. You gey a camry sized altima with a worse transmission than a toyota corolla... 😐 but i mean in this age of antifreedom electric cars my sibling makes enough money if the transmission blows she just pays for another jatco cvt and its not as big of a deal. So its all perspective. Nissan wont clean up their castings as well and stuff like that. Their body panel fitment probably even worse than tesla in some areas. But i mean they will sell you an accord camry class altima you get it for less in comparison but with more features. I perfer camrys and audi a3 now because corollas used to be like camrys but now theyre junk with cvts and the camry you get the 2.5 NA but with audi a3 you go back to a good quality 7 speed. But i mean you pay up. A camry isnt cheap anymore and an audi a3 is step up from that too. Not as cheap as a sentra
0:11 IMO it is not. however I will say from a value standpoint it is hard to ignore. if you don't give a lick about driving dynamics, the price difference between this and the civic can be hard to justify.
Back in 94 before I got married, I was torn between a new Sentra SER or new Acura Integra coupe, both 2 door sticks. I bought the Acura, it was nicer & the insurance was cheaper. 😁
I had a 91 Sentra SE-R. I also have a MK3 Supra turbo, 2nd gen MR-2 and a Acura RSX type S the Sentra was almost the most fun car I owned so far. It’s like a go kart you can chuck around with the 5 speed LSD it puts down the power really well
To answer your guy's question, the FWD Audi A4 from the 2002-2016 was equipped with a CVT transmission. The Quattro models still used a conventional automatic or dual clutch transmission depending on model year.
had a 2010s spec v in college, great, fun and reliable, had zero issues with it mechanically. traded it as a down payment on a camaro ss back in 16. if it hadn't gotten absolutely torn up in a hail storm I would still have it though. Was quoted like $9k worth of damage so I just decided to take the cash from the insurance and paid it off almost 2 years early and was still able to get like $8k in the trade years later.
Unfortunately, you're not getting _actual_ value. Yes you're getting extra features for the same amount of money compared to a Honda Civic, Toyota Corolla, and a Mazda 3. And that *seems* like value. But with a bit of routine maintenance, those competitors will easy last you over a decade. A current Sentra (all trims) is so cheaply made, it's not going to remotely last you as long. At least, not without pouring in tons of money for very costly repairs. Due to that, it's not much of a value at all. Plus, it's the absolute slowest car in its class, while ironically looking as though it's the fastest. Hey, if you have a tight budget but need cheap transportation, buy a Nissan Versa instead. And, buy it soon because Nissan realized the Versa was taking away sales from the base model Sentra. So, they're discontinuing the Versa next year. The Versa is only about a second slower 0-60mph. than the Sentra. But will cost you thousands less over the Sentra.
You forgot that the majority of the US are sub credit. Nissan although I have never owned one is doing just fine and not struggling to survive. I mean they ranked 5th in all car sales in the USA in 2023
I don’t understand why they put that turbo motor for a short couple of years in the last generation and not this new generation as an upgraded motor for an SER or Nismo version smh
I owned a 2009 Nissan Sentra Spec V and loved it. It pulled like a freight train in most gears (6 speed manual) and road on rails. I currently own a Mazda Speed3 and miss the Sentra.
I have a 2017 Nissan Sentra with over 125,000 miles on it and bought it new with 27 miles. I've had no issue with CVT and its been overall solid. I just think that I would much rather have a Sentra over a Honda but maybe consider a Corolla or Camry. I just think they did really improve the CVT in 2017 so its good to see that they got better as the years went on. I would not buy a new one but I could consider a used one as long as the cvt has been serviced. As far as Roman being extremely negative is sad. There are people who cannot afford a Mercedes G wagon and a truck. Just over realistic for the average consumer who does not have that kind of cash to afford a oversized gas guzzler.
Idk why ppl think Nissan cars are bad. Tbh I love my 2023 Nissan Altima 2.0 SR. I had a 2019 Accord EXL, and honestly the Nissan ride quality and build quality is better.
I have a 2021 Sentra and love it, thinking of upgrading to 2025 for the new features. It's a nice car. Also, my wife has a new Rav4, and her screen and software SUCKS. I like the buttons because it's WAY easier to get to and from the radio. In my wife's car which she has had for a year now, she still hasn't figured it out.
THIS IS MUCH NICER THAN A TOYOTA COROLLA AND HAS A ROOMIER BACK SEAT. I THINK THE SENTRA SR IS BETTER LOOKING THAN THE COROLLA TOO AND IN TOP TRIM UNDER CUTS IT ON PRICE AND GIVES YOU A 360 CAMERA. THE INTERIOR FEELS FAR MORE UPSCALE IN THE SENTRA THAN THE COROLLA AND AFTER SITTING IN THE COROLLA XSE AND THE SENTRA SR PREMIUM IT FELT NIGHT AND DAY TO ME HOW MUCH NICER THE SENTRA INTERIOR LOOKED AND FELT.
Sentra is much cheaper than Corolla in all trims. Here in Dallas, Nissan dealers are giving a $5000 discount on all new 2024 Nissan Sentras. On the other hand, Toyota dealers are still charging full MSRP on new 2024 Corollas. So big price difference
I think the numbers are this good on this car is because most people lease these car , I am one of them people actually lol.... This car is Not bad for the price. The handling was really good. It's good on gas. The only thing sucks about this car is acceleration is terrible .I just wish they'd bump up the horsepower, at least around 200 and this car would be perfect.
People crap on this car just for the sake of crapping on a car. As far as value for money is concerned, this car easily beats the rest of the competition. I’d take this over a Forte and Elantra, and heck, even over a Corolla.
Not a bad commutermobile. I thought the seats were really good compared to the Corolla and Civic. It also helps that you can probably get a decent discount off sticker. That's why they sell in good volume.
“Once upon a time the SE-R was the affordable sporty car young men listed after”. FTFY. B13 SE-R’s were instant classics. 91-94. That car has 140hp and a screaming 8000 rpm redline from 2.0 liters. This engine 30 years later is no better.
No... it was 150 hp @ 5,600 rpm Torque 154 lb-ft @ 4,400 rpm for 1994... I think 8000 RPM would have made the news back then... Even the rev happy S2000 saw 7,800 for maximum HP... The Sentra did NOT rev to 8K! lol

@devildog5354 That's good for you. But Nissan Dealers sends ads out advertising about the bad credit. It is known through out the industry. Not my opinion. The last Nissan I purchased was the last one ever. Now I sound like Roman.
Just tried "build and price" on the Nissanusa site and CVT is standard on all models - at least here in the U.S. I don't see a way in which to option any of the models with the manual unfortunately.
Roman was utterly annoying. Where did the dated comment come from. Has he NOT been in a Corolla? Why do these reviewers complain about “no buttons, and everything is in the screen” then you get a car with tactile buttons and call it dated. And stop complaining about a cheap car not being having everything… ITS CHEAP FOR A REASON!! Nissan did a damn good job with this car inside and out ESPECIALLY compared to the frumpy last gen Sentra.

This better than a civic interior ? The new ones? Nooooooo.
@@LBCosmicConcernsyes it is better interior wise
Before I made a decision, I test drove a Sentra and a Corolla Hatchback, because the dealers are right next to each other in my area. The Corolla had more power and drove a lot better. Also, the Corolla HB is made in Japan, whereas the Sentra was made in Mexico, so the fit and finish on the Corolla was superior. At the end of the day, I went with the Corolla.
stop it
I love when Nathan and Roman are together, Nathan is the only TFL guy with the balls to disagree with Roman and rib him a bit along the way 😂😂 gets Roman flustered 😂
You don't need AWD, you need snow tires.
I’ve leased five Sentra SL’s for my wife. I enjoyed driving them and had zero issues during the lease times.
Leased a nissan??
Nissan sentra came in SL? I thought for sentra and versa the top trim was SR. 🤔
@@fakedazzlefulyep. Sentra had an SL way back when. Every blue moon I'd see one but rare.
@@MichaelSmith-df5pz funny you said that. After my comment, I did see an old sentra with the SL badge. My apologies
@@fakedazzleful I guess the SV is supposed to be today's SL for Versa and Sentra. Even the Versa had a SL. Crazy huh?
Guys!
He says all that while also slamming Nissan for being "outdated" for having a real gear lever and buttons 😂😂
a 2.0 naturally aspirated under stressed engine with the manual transmission at that low price is not bad. Just depends if the rest of the car will hold up. It dosen't look bad.
not really sure where they getting a manual tranny for a 2024........ all cvt. base versa lets ya row gears.....
Does Roman always have to be negative and disagreeing all the time? His points don't even connect well. 2:02
Yeah, I've noticed it too.
He’s always negative and doesn’t know facts about the vehicles he’s reviewing. He needs to retire and let Tommy take over.
@devildog5354 LOL true
The sentra will be falling apart halfway to that
Roman is so miserable and completely unable to be objective. Just stop. Let Nathan and Andre take over.
The tfl people doing backseat room test doesn't make sense because they are a lot bigger than normal people
Good point. They're all over 6 feet when the average American man is 5'9-5'10 and the average American woman is 5'4
Trying to cram large people in small spaces to see if they fit sounds perfectly logical to me.
The Sentra does have a sport button it’s at the bottom of the shifter on the front just about the trim trim
I own a 2023 Sentra SR and absolutely love it! Runs well, comfortable and excellent price.
I am tho.
Audi a3. The best audi ever made for the actual real world. The least unreliable audi 😂
It's a great-looking car. It's comfortable. It's refined. It sips fuel. It's affordable. I'd call that a well-rounded car. I still don't trust Nissan CVTs though. This generation came out in 2020 and they were having early CVT failure still. Nathan has the patience of a saint dealing with the constant barrage of petty negativity.
would you choose this fully loaded Sentra for 29k or buy a base 2025 Camry LE hybrid?
@@johnkonde1975 If the price is nearly the same, definitely the Camry Hybrid. It's one size class larger and it'll likely be more reliable. Plus, the resale value will be better.

Literally all of them with that Jatco CVT
Audi a3.
Hello. How old are we
nissan designs are beautiful...i would choose nissans if only they have the reliability level of toyota and honda
Nissan hurt their reputation with the early cvts but I think the frontier is a sleeper truck compared to the taco I own Nissan and Toyota and my Toyota has given me some problems I kind of have to roll my eyes when I hear to much Toyota praise
They are reliable now
@@DaleWillyno theyre not.
I don’t understand my 2019 has 100k miles I use it everyday. Just take care of your car mam most avg drivers just don’t
For the money, not a bad deal, though I would go with the manual to make it last as long as possible. Sentra is definitely improving it seems.
0:11 IMO it is not. however I will say from a value standpoint it is hard to ignore. if you don't give a lick about driving dynamics, the price difference between this and the civic can be hard to justify.
1:11 this thing really needs the I-3 VC turbo. it would be quite a lot of fun with that engine.
10:03 trying to turn over a new leaf in a nissan review?
Something you guys want to share? Lol
They need to drive the versa next!
Yes and that's where the manual option is, not here with the Sentra (in the U.S.).
Same here. I like the Nissan Versa in red and 3 pedals
Versa is being discontinued.
It’s like a go kart you can chuck around with the 5 speed LSD it puts down the power really well
The sport buttons on the gearshift look down next time when you drive it it really does make a difference.
The B13 SER is where it was at! Which put out 140hp in 1990! That SR should be a 180hp engine easy.
It does have a "sport" button , it is the small button with a horizontal white line in the back of the gear shifter
Is that the sport button on the shifter? My kicks had it there and there is a button on the back of it.
To answer your guy's question, the FWD Audi A4 from the 2002-2016 was equipped with a CVT transmission. The Quattro models still used a conventional automatic or dual clutch transmission depending on model year.
Thats a really nice car i think...
Rides good, looks good, nice mpg, "fair price", pretty good powertrain, and no super small turbo charged engine.
had a 2010s spec v in college, great, fun and reliable, had zero issues with it mechanically. traded it as a down payment on a camaro ss back in 16. if it hadn't gotten absolutely torn up in a hail storm I would still have it though. Was quoted like $9k worth of damage so I just decided to take the cash from the insurance and paid it off almost 2 years early and was still able to get like $8k in the trade years later.
Thanks guys. Great job.
I had an 03 Sentra that I drove 30k a year until it was nearly wore out. Pre-CVT! The look of this new gen is much improved over the last gen.
I thought the Sentra has a sport mode on the shifter the hidden button like the Altima has
The Sentra is a simple commuter car, not a bargain in this sr trim but can easily be had under 25k all day with no crazy Toyota markups.
Just so its clear, markups are from the dealers, not Toyota.
They all do it at Toyota dealerships. Markup thieves.
Nissan got sucked into selling its cars to the sub-prime credit market. How they get out and survive long term is a fair question at this point.
You forgot that the majority of the US are sub credit. Nissan although I have never owned one is doing just fine and not struggling to survive. I mean they ranked 5th in all car sales in the USA in 2023
Yet Toyota and Honda sale to the same crowds, and clearly rob them with ridiculous $700+ monthly payments.
I don’t understand why they put that turbo motor for a short couple of years in the last generation and not this new generation as an upgraded motor for an SER or Nismo version smh

Bought a 2022 Sentra SV for under $22,000. Been a perfect car, comfortable and handles well.
Idk why ppl think Nissan cars are bad. Tbh I love my 2023 Nissan Altima 2.0 SR. I had a 2019 Accord EXL, and honestly the Nissan ride quality and build quality is better.

One thing I wouldn't knock the Sentra on is design. Nissan nailed the exterior and interior styling on this one.
Not a bad commutermobile. I thought the seats were really good compared to the Corolla and Civic. It also helps that you can probably get a decent discount off sticker. That's why they sell in good volume.
I thought it was called SE-R Spec V?
Not for the Sentra’s I think the Altima SE-R
None of them are called that only Sr or nismo.
Sport mode button is behind the stick the white horizontal line is a button
How did you find the seats I thought they were a little narrow but then again I have really fat legs
The Sentra did NOT rev to 8K! lol
I had one and I sold it recently big mistake, I miss it so much.
You didn't use sports mode - button back shifter
Kase would've been a good tiebreaker js!
I just looked and you can’t get that car with a manual.
Lets be real 90 percent of drivers ride auto those manual times are over in the US
Isn't it time Nathan is promoted to TFL classics or small trucks? :) I'm team Roman today. Arguing like two drunks over the bar lady..
Tommy is the Crown Prince of TFL and he's being groomed to take over TFL after Roman. Poor Nathan is being pushed aside
@@johnkonde1975 I didn't say that and do not agree. Nathan's funny as hell and would be best suited where the reviews are more down-to-earth. I don't believe he would not have a say in how he contributes ti the channel. Maybe he is living farthest or his wife might not be as accommodating for his long absence from the family, we will never know. Tommy is naturally the successor because he's much younger and it would be folly for a successful company like TFL not to have in place successors who will continue to build the channel. If you should bring some Joe public who do not share the same goals and MO that make TFL successful they would take the company in a different direction which cou;d fail. Back of the class with you..
If they bring turbo engine from the new Nissan Rogue which has around 200hp and throw in stuff suspension. You got yourself a new Sentra SE-R SpecV.
I own a 2020 Maxima, Nissan makes very good cars, the Sentra is an exceptionally reliable comfortable car, but it’s stupidly under powered, it needs 200 hp,,,,149hp is lethargic, charge $3K more and put in a turbo
I'm too lazy to search. Is this a direct or port injected engine?
It comes with both
@@abundantlygranted4573 Corolla comes with both, not Sentra
According to Wiki, the MR20DD engine in this Sentra is Direct Injection only.
Il take that sentra
If you have bad credit Nissan is the place to shop. Bad credit is why and how they sell cars.
@devildog5354 That's good for you. But Nissan Dealers sends ads out advertising about the bad credit. It is known through out the industry. Not my opinion. The last Nissan I purchased was the last one ever. Now I sound like Roman.
That’s not necessarily true
I own a Nissan, and I paid cash for it. (Not a Sentra.)
All dealerships for all brands give bad credit loans with outrageous interest rates. OP must have bad credit himself. Lol
What color is that ?
Sport mode is on the shifter little button with a line on it
it does have sport mode
My son has a 2023 Sentra SR. He loves it.
10:42 the sport button is right on the sifter lol
I really like the Sentra. You can still get it with a manual transmission, which makes it a fun and reliable car to throw around for a very low price.
Just tried "build and price" on the Nissanusa site and CVT is standard on all models - at least here in the U.S. I don't see a way in which to option any of the models with the manual unfortunately.
@@modmatt1 oh, in Canada we get the manual transmission on the S and SR trims.
Thank you N8 and Roman
Roman was utterly annoying. Where did the dated comment come from. Has he NOT been in a Corolla? Why do these reviewers complain about “no buttons, and everything is in the screen” then you get a car with tactile buttons and call it dated. And stop complaining about a cheap car not being having everything… ITS CHEAP FOR A REASON!! Nissan did a damn good job with this car inside and out ESPECIALLY compared to the frumpy last gen Sentra.
Did they say that Nissan is now offering a manual transmission on the Sentra...?
Turning over a new Leaf . . . hmmmm Nissan makes the Leaf.
- The push button and the 'fake' PRNDL works for me.
- Oh, GL, Roman, it's an econobox. Let It Go!
Good job, Nathan, as usual!
Looks better than toyota and honda but it's still a Nissan. I'd get corolla hatch if I had to put up with this class.
It’s a fine Sentra, the only problem is there is nothing SR about it!
Car has a great dash board set up, and interior seating, handles very well too great daily driver ✅️
