I know what the website says... The turbo noise in the raised air intake would get old really quick. Great info in this vid - thanks.
Sorry to say this Andre, but the TRD PRO and the Trailhunter are not a close or direct ZR2 BISON competitor. Maybe a base ZR2, and Ford Raptor Competitor. -No factory front locker. - 33s not 35s factory installed. -less lift/ground clearance/Aproach/departure ect..ect. Toyota as well as other manufacturers have priced these trucks out of the relm of what most people will ever pay for a midsized truck.
I work in the plastics industry. Some plastics are harder and more durable than thinly stamped metal plus plastic doesn't rust. We, as midnight shift machine operators, were throwing our test run parts (NOT Ford parts) as hard as we could against brick walls with zero issues. Couldn't break chip or shatter our parts. And that's before QC got them 😂.
@@chrisb9478 the 2.7 doesn’t use the plastic oil pan anymore and I would be surprised if the 3.0l does. Toyota uses plastic transmission pans also. So stop acting like Ford is the only automaker that uses plastic oil and transmission pans as many other automakers do.
I had been planning on getting a trd pro. Then I started seeing more and more pictures of how they killed the rear seat room. I’ve got kids to haul around so I want a usable back seat. Where’s the 1700 lbs. of payload we were promised? My Maverick Tremor has more payload (1250 lbs.). Last week, at the Ford dealer, I saw a 2024 Ranger 4x4 with 1699 lbs. of payload. I like this video format. Thanks for all the great videos and keep up the good work.

@@mechmat12345 this costing 65k is more than fine and because it's a excellent truck. Stop complaining. Even car and driver ranked the new Tacoma turbo and turbo Hybrid versions as number one and two. Above all it's rivals.
Here is a theory on Toyota’s high pricing; Toyota Corporation tired of distributors and dealers making money from unnecessary and unwanted accessories, including $4,000 “market adjustments”. So they have jacked up the MSRP on the vehicles to a level where distributors and dealers have no room to add “extras” and may have to even discount to move the inventory.
"Those bumpers and components can be added to other Tacomas". Cue the lower trim owners telling everybody their lesser trimmed Tacos are "just as good as a trail hunter" because they bought a bumper.
Toyota made the price so high dealers are going to have a hard time taking on markup cause nobody going to want to pay 5k to 10k extra on this vehicle there's so many options for that price like a f150 raptor or chevy silverado zr2
The TRD Pro didn't lift a wheel even once lol. Overtrail did pretty quick. The Pro articulation was excellent. I'd buy the Pro, if I were buying either
I make enough to afford this truck, but there is zero chance I'd buy it at that price. Would rather buy the TRD Off-Road and add 2-3" lift, 33's, better shocks, additional skid plates, and still save 12-15k. Less power? Sure, but folks who've driven the non-hybrid Tacoma say it's a very good powertrain.
Is there going to be a delete option for that "desert air intake" cause i wanna 1) be able to roll down my window in peace, and 2) not have a goofy, pointless mod.
Notice on the white vehicle sticker, the Rear Axle Capacity (RAWR) is falsely reduced to 3475 lbs. The real max rating for that 9.5" axle is likely about 4500 lbs.
Thanks for pricing… looks like I’m sticking with my Bowtie, going to get my daughter the ZR2 Colorado. I’ve always been a Chevy guy for 30 years. Wanted to venture out and get my daughter a TACO but ZR2 pricing is better
Lol. You're nuts. Raptor is way better for performance and price, ZR2 is best value by far. TRD Pro is better at nothing but MPG and presumptive reliability (has not been out long enough to actually say it's reliable).
TRD off roads and pros pricing is getting totally crazy. Give me a off road with just heated seats and a bed liner for 40k out the door and it'll be the number one selling truck on the market. They can keep all the other fancy controls/cameras/technology that is driving the price through the roof.
@@Jeff-ib7wc nice, we got a 21 nighshade for $49k when the used car market started to go carzy, I think if we sell it now, we can command high 30s but twin turbo is something I am not sure about on these cars.
Pick up trucks used to be cheaper than Corollas but as soon as people turned them into lifestyle choices, the manufacturer started cashing in on peoples high emotion and being posers, and not actually using them as work trucks.
Do the ventilated seats on the Tacoma vent to the back and base of the seat, or just the base? I'm interested in the TRD-Off Road with premium package for the vented seats but no point in them if they only cool the base of the seat and not the back. Was really disappointed by the new Ridgeline Black edition that only had the vented seat base and not the back.

Wow I was considering replacing my wife's 2021 TRD Off Road with a 2025 Pro but for that price I'd rather just switch her to a Ranger Raptor.
said no one ever
@@paulm6481 I literally said it, and meant it.
I’ve seen those going for as much as $83k in Washington. Just depends on the dealer.
Ford is absolute crepe compared to Toyota and you know it. Nice bluff though.
@@Jeff-ib7wc Not a bluff at all. I don't have an allegiance to *any* car company. I don't own a Toyota, my wife does. She loved her previous ranger that she had for ~150k miles and would absolutely happy to jump back into one.
Loved it thanks. I like the minimal editing.
With these prices Nissan would be stupid to not jump all over that 35k-45k segment. As of now if i was in the market for this sized truck that pro4x would looking really good. Luckily I got my TRD off road in 2020 for 34k and does everything I expect From it.
Loved the video and enjoy the informal and impromptu vids. Keep em coming, great work
I am pretty sure the 4Runner TRD Pro and Trailhunter will be as pricey if not more. That price makes me consider a Land Cruiser 250 series as a serious option.
Might as well go with a Lexus GX than a Land cruiser!
For $65k I'll definitely take a Land Cruiser. Best balance of off road, efficiency and comfort imo. I assume the 4Runner TRD Pro will be pushing $70k, and I'd definitely take the GX Overtrail at that price.
Land Cruiser has like 8.5” ground clearance. The GX Overtrail has 8.7”. You get 11” on the Trailhunter model WITH a factory warranty!
@@Jeff-ib7wcDon't you get a V6 with the GX?
@@Jeff-ib7wc11" clearance is pretty good, like in our Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk. Cybertruck offers even more -- 16" ground clearance.
Excellent analysis love the first dirt video look forward to see it done with the4 runner TRD pro and Trail hunter
Not even a front locker for 63k wtf...and front and rear locker is the best thing to have... also just think of the 15k markups that they will tack on also
This was probably already on the works, but I’m so glad you guys made this video (after I commented asking for it)
Maybe I’m cheep but I do not think a Tacoma should be more than the mid 50’s come on people Great video once again, guys
You are not cheap oh no instead silly. This is a excellent mid size truck and worth its price. This is 2024 and not 1999
Yeah that's why I got the 23 SR5 V6 4x4 . 41k. I am never going to need all that crap on the expensive trims and I can upgrade the suspension myself how I like for a few thousand. I really prefer the basic all paint matched style on the SR5 anyway. Looks like luxury in silver. I have seen 24 SR5s going for 43k. Thats the deal. Upgrade later if you want offroad crap.
If ypu want the nice shit make more money....
@@Mylifeislegendary982vd3-vI70-73 k after mark ups with a big interest rate ? For a 4cyl mid size truck ? Just so all the posers can look cool going over the speed bumps in the Victoria secret parking lot 😂🤡
@@iskdude9922Nice shit ? You’ll never be able to shame a real man into paying 70-73 k ( after Toyota markups) for a 4cyl mid size truck, I got my diesel cheaper than that. This is another Toyota poser truck, built for the wimps like you who don’t off road at all but want to look cool hitting the speed bumps in the complex you’re picking your wife’s boyfriend up from 😂🤡
Like the style of video. Trail hunter looks sweet!
Elephant in the room: Made in Mexico.
The 3rd gen Tacoma was also built in Mexico.
The Trailhunter trim is for Overlanding; says right on the Toyota website.
Prices on the TRD-Pro & Trailer are 😱
What were the actual payload numbers on these vehicles?
And the ZR2 Bison still is 5k cheaper
@@fernandopuga6906and MADE IN THE USA
Not even directly comparable to a "regular" ZR2 (like the 2024 I just bought), as the Tacoma STILL doesn't have a front locker.
@@kx8960 I understand that. But it is the closest.
@@fernandopuga6906 what is the price, you never said?
The EXTREME!!!!! Dudes from Harold and Kumar would love this truck
Wait, was that a pterodactyl?
I can’t believe how much they are charging people for these trucks! Oh and don’t forget to take your tablet when you leave😂😂
I own a 2012 TRD Tacoma. I paid $26K out the door Feb 2017. 50k miles on the odometer. Today’s prices are insane.
Ranger Raptor or Trailhunter?
“Raptor of course” is what Roman was thinking.
Ranger Raptor, if you like plastic oil and transmission pans & plastic drain plugs. 😂
Ford has the most recalls of ANY brand 3 years in a row.
Toyota has built up a lot of brand capital that they’re cashing in with now
@@chrisb9478 the 2.7 doesn’t use the plastic oil pan anymore and I would be surprised if the 3.0l does.
I finally decided I was out and ended up getting a hybrid tundra with the trd off road package. I’m pretty sure I’m not really missing out.
The TRD Pro costs more than my fully loaded f150 tremor
Get the TRD Off-Road I-Force Max Premium, only difference is "Pro" and "Off-Road" LOL
lol.....a similarly equipped Tremor with cameras, towing package, HUD, etc. is $80K. Why do people continue to compare apples to oranges? It's a hell of a deal compared to a Raptor R though isn't it?
@@Dusdaddy I’m just saying, a fully loaded 2023 tremor 402A is like $68k right now.
@@TH-camuser1aa But it's not comparable. A Maverick Tremor is only $40K. So why not get that?
@@Dusdaddy they are the same price, and are off-road trucks. So I would say they’re comparable.
I enjoy the impromptu reviews.
it sounds like a shop vac lmao
The last turbo I had that made that sound was about to go bad...
Dummies. All turbo engines make this sound. Just depends on how much muffling is done to the airbox
For 9k more I ordered a F 350 power stroke XLT FX4. Those tacos are crazy expensive….but yes they hold their value well
A mans work truck! And your turbo will sound so much better! 6.7 turbo whistle is sweet. So is the Dodge though.
@@jasonhill2180 absolutely. For me the XLT gives me just enough tech without going overboard
If payload matters get a lesser trim.
Exactly. Toyota kept quoting 1700 for trail hunter and it was complete BS.
1250 pounds of payload actually isn’t too bad for the Trail hunter….but yeah, not even close to 1700lbs
@@kabloosh699 the TrailHunter is supposed to be the "overlander" which needs payload to carry all the over-priced camping junk. And the lower trims are still only around 1200 lb capacity. So the promised ratings were a marketing lie.
@@kabloosh699 That doesn't help....no trim is above 1270
What I like about Toyota and most car manufacturers for that matter is that they have a trim that fits your budget.
I just started rolling on the floor laughing. I was imagining a scenario where Andre said he’s going to move his seat back an inch more while Roman was sitting behind him in the Pro . Roman says no don’t go back anymore and then Andre responds, Go back more? Proceeds to split Roman legs wide open tearing a hole in Roman’s pants in the crotch area. Roman cries in anguish and says, ARRRGGGGHHH FUQQ U ANDREEEEE! 😅
Prices are INSANE!!! I was contemplating the TrailHunter, but must say big time "NO". I much rather get the LC250 LandCruiser in a few years once hopefully markups are gone.
You can drive to a further dealer for a no mark up Land Cruiser.
@@alromero5685 that is what I am doing once I am ready to buy, absolutely!!! Once I decide when and what.
@@LivingRetirement 😎👍 My man!
Will the off road have the hybrid option soon? I just don’t see a justification on getting the high level trims at this point when the extra money can go into some actual good custom mods.
COULD YOU GUYS DO THAT TEST (TRAILHUNTER VS BISON)
TFL as usual making great video on the fly at an event when time is limited. I dont think people appreciate the skill and years of experience to pull these off. Keep em coming
These look sick. Also loving this style of video guys!
Nice to see the comparison between the top off-road trims. Hopefully we’ll get a comparison between the OR and TH or Pro soon.
65k is a LOT but I think a lot of people miss the point. The trail hunter has a ton of upgrades, plus the warranty. Many overlanders would install those things themselves and now it’s available from the factory
uh huh, now explain the 65k part again.
@@higg2156 I think if people bought the trd off road for 45k then added all the stuff themselves it would be over 65k
@@higg2156 How much for a well-equipped Ram Rebel or Ford Tremor? Now it doesn't look as bad.
@@ExploreWyoming,no it wouldn't. Rock rails and decent shocks aren't THAT expensive. This truck makes a lot of sense at $55k, but not $65k.
Great job! I love the new roofline on all of these. I’m thinking I’d like the Pro for the extra grand.
Toyota made the price so high dealers are going to have a hard time taking on markup cause nobody going to want to pay 5k to 10k extra on this vehicle there's so many options for that price like a f150 raptor or chevy silverado zr2
Keeping my 21 TRD Pro Lunar Rock for a long time😌😎
Crazy that we paid either 46k or 48k for my wife's 2020 Tacoma TRD Pro. Almost 20k 4 years later is absolutely crazy!
The isodynamic seats should be an option, that way one could get this trim at a cheaper price.
This makes ranger raptor a bargain before mark ups 😂😂😂. But can’t afford it 😢😢😢
The TRD Pro didn't lift a wheel even once lol.
You can get TRD off road hybrid soon
Sounds like the arb snorkel on my diesel JT. ❤
My son seen the TRD PRO on the trailer here in Oregon.
Andre, I really want to see the hybrid on the Ike. I’m curious how regen braking will effect downhill performance
Is there going to be a delete option for that "desert air intake" cause i wanna 1) be able to roll down my window in peace, and 2) not have a goofy, pointless mod.
15:55 the rear seat legroom on the TRD Pro seems like a little more than what the extended cab model has.
$65k for a midsize!! And it's made in Mexico with cheap labor. No way Jose......
I see what you did there lol. 🤔
Notice on the white vehicle sticker, the Rear Axle Capacity (RAWR) is falsely reduced to 3475 lbs. The real max rating for that 9.5" axle is likely about 4500 lbs.
For a lot less $ you can buy a full sized Titan Pro 4X. No mid sized truck should exceed $50k.
Thanks for pricing… looks like I’m sticking with my Bowtie, going to get my daughter the ZR2 Colorado. I’ve always been a Chevy guy for 30 years. Wanted to venture out and get my daughter a TACO but ZR2 pricing is better
This TRD Pro looks the best in the class
ZR2 AEV Bison for offroading. Toyota for reliability...
Keep your current tacos and 4Runners for another 10tears then get these for half the price….maybe.
I bought a 4Runner TRD OFF ROAD Premium with KDSS for $45,000 in 2020. Identical models with similar mileage are currently retailing for $40-43k.
@@Jeff-ib7wc nice, we got a 21 nighshade for $49k when the used car market started to go carzy, I think if we sell it now, we can command high 30s but twin turbo is something I am not sure about on these cars.

$63k for a midsized… what the actual f@&$!?
Pick up trucks used to be cheaper than Corollas but as soon as people turned them into lifestyle choices, the manufacturer started cashing in on peoples high emotion and being posers, and not actually using them as work trucks.
This is great news! I guess I will keep my 2nd gen for another 10 more years until the market cools off. I’m in no hurry.
65k smh wonder what the 4 Runner will be at now. Smh

TRD off road would be just as good for 95% of people who buy the pro.or trailhunter
I'll keep rolling with my '20 4Runner indefinitely I guess. These prices and turbo birds nest engines are a hard no for me.
65k+tax+interest+insurance+mark-ups+gas increases! You can't afford it, American serfs, but Zelenzky can. LMAO!

Excellent video guys, i enjoy this format more than others and no music 😁
Thankfully, they didn't take it on anything serious. Wouldn't want a repeat of the diff failure.
It's Good that Trail Hunter doesn't have a sunroof, because of upcoming hail storms & gonna be way easier to replace front windshield then a not necessary moon roof. I've always liked sitting on my 1982 & then 1993 Tacomas & then 1996 T100 roof top at the beach surf fishing. Fishing rod holders on front and back bumps, depending on my preference.
