    I just bought a fully loaded one of these after driving my girlfriends old 2015 sentra and the difference is just mind blowing at how refined and comfortable it is compared to the last generations, and I used to drive 400+hp cars and honestly unless you're constantly racing horsepower doesn't matter if executed properly, and the new engine and refreshed transmission do such a wonderful job at getting you up to speed and holding it on inclines, no longer do I need to put 60 dollars in my tank every 4 days now it's only 25 for a week and a half, all the safety features and sound system have me spoiled personally and for only being 26k with everything you could get, I'd say it's the best purchase I've made in my car buying career

    I got a manual one, and I love it. All the features you get for the price is amazing. Engine is old school and simple. No turbos or direct injection, yet it is still super-efficient. It's not a sports car, but it is more than enough. This car is more comfortable than my mom's Corolla and looks good. I got the SV with premium package and it's terrific. It's, and this is a shocker, on it's original CVT transmission but we changed the fluid 3 times so far. It's not a special car but it's done it's job without failure since we owned it and the only numbers that matter with a car like this are low maintenance costs and MPGs. Great review as always.

    I've only owned an 06 Altima SE-R and then upgraded (or downgraded really) to a 17 Altima 3.5 SL, but I don't think I'm going to invest any farther into Nissan seeing where their new cars are going. They've basically condensed the altima and the sentra into the same vehicle, the interior looks so bland and uncomfortable compared to older models, the cvt on my current makes me sick if I'm being honest, and their cars really do seem to fall apart randomly. I thought they'd be moving towards something better in the future and trying to learn to swim but it seems like they're still barely keeping their head above water, and at this point the company just needs to let go.

    I recently borrowed a 2020 Altima SR, with a CVT, and was utterly BLOWN AWAY at how smooth the CVT was, and how AMAZING the gas mileage was, especially highway (44MPG)! I frequently drive the Cleveland to NYC route (and back), and often have to stop for gas at least once with most cars i've taken this trip with. It usually takes a tank and a half to make the trip on most cars, but with the Altima, it took only 3/4 of a tank of gas to drive the 490 miles in about 7 1/2 hours (with the trunk loaded, 2 people and a 60 pound dog)! I currently drive a manual GTI, but would consider a car with a CVT if they lasted as long as a manual or traditional old school auto transmission. Long term reliability and durability is a MUST. I've heard that Aisin CVT's are better than Jatco. Comments?

    My wife got a Honda Civic Sport back in 2019. Due to a job change I am now driving it. Some days I have a two hour commute and I’m getting 37+ mpg and yet it’s still very tight and sporty. For $21k it has lane keep assist and brake assisted cruise control. I’m super impressed. In my opinion it’s the best combination of mpg and sportiness, with 180 hp. And the Sonic Grey color is amazing.

    • @JohnS-il1dr
      @JohnS-il1dr 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not true. The inherent design flaw is the cause of the problems. A tiny steel belt pulling a 3000lb car is a lot less assuring than solid gears. You never see CVTs in large trucks, and high performance sports cars, and for good reason.
      My Honda cvt went out at 125k with regular maintenance at the dealer using oem cvt fluid every 40k miles. Cost was 4400 usd with only a year warranty and 12k miles, as nobody warranties these long term.

Not exciting to drive, but it was so danged reliable. The modern ones have a major flaw. I'm too tall for them. By maybe 1 or 2 inches, but the leg room is just a tad too short. Something for taller people to keep in mind.

    People cry about Sentra CVT thinking its still the B17 era. Its a car meant for you to put high milage/kms on and have the best fuel economy available to you. Its not a Z, Type R, or even a GR, and people try to think it is one. Then they complain and cry after it blows a transmission by constantly running it at 5-6k rpm. Plus, this line is one of the 8-9 cars of its size and class to offer a manual variant.

    Very good Review. I agree not everyone can afford or wants a 500 horsepower car as a daily driver. How much are 20 inch tires, and how much is the cost of the comfort that you lose? Also, fast cars are awesome , but reliability is very under rated. Plus, when you buy a high end car unless you can afford to lose lots of $$ on depreciation , the lower priced car is a better bet.

    Test drove the 2020 (in manual) , I think you summed it up pretty well, we didn't end up getting it, not that it was bad in any way, just ended up liking the impreza more. Our biggest complaints was the interior felt a little bit claustrophobic (the central console and infotainment stick out a bit too far), the car felt a bit heavy/boat-ie (compared to the competition) and at least for manual I think it's fuel economy is actually the worst in the class (for fwd), still good since it's subcompact, but not great. I think it'd make a great second car that your spouse only really uses to commute.
