As of 2025, none come with the round headlamps. The GX is the lowliest model and comes with a smaller screen and the towbar option from Toyota cannot be fitted (goodness knows why). The ZX is the all-singing, all-dancing bells and whistles model. The VX has a petrol engine option. The GX is the only one available with 5 seats instead of the 7 seats.

We have these Landcruiser 70 Series here in New Zealand, they're a popular choice with farmers in particular. Over here we have 3 different body styles to choose from, single cab & chassis, double cab & chassis, along with the wagon like seen in this video. Sadly the 4.5L V8 diesel engine option is coming to an end, the wagon version has already dropped the V8 last year in favor of the 2.8L i4 diesel. The single/double cab & chassis models will lose the V8 at the end of this year.
Tommy, With respect, at this price point the GR Yaris would be very welcome here. In general, the Japanese market is focused on practical cars with many vans and wagons on sale. Finally, the Century CUV is built on the same platform as the Lexus TX and Grand Highlander.

I saw some private importers in LA selling Lexus LMs shipped out of China with steering wheel on the left side, But not many Americans are willing to spend USD 200K+ on a minivan. TX550h+ is basically a stripped down version of the century SUV. But I agree, the LC 70 series, with that price tag, will sell more than the Camry.
The 70 series is produced at a slow production rate on purpose and Toyota would sell a bare bones base 70 for $60K us plus. Because that’s what they have been doing for the last 8yrs around the world markets. Sign purchase contract at a price, when you get it after waiting a year it costs 10,000 more. In Australia they stop taking orders then two months later open the book and the price is 15% higher. It’s been done several times.
Yep, and in a few remaining markets the 70 series is still available with the V8 diesel and a manual transmission. The chicken tax is exactly what it sounds like - protecting an industry in a country that is too chicken of competition.
The Century's opaque rear glass has an issue, I can easily understand not being able to see inside, but why not passengers being able to see outside? Those are wonderful vehicles, no doubt. Thanks for showing these to us.
@@regsparkes6507 Hi, the Opaque glass is only Opaque when switched to Opaque mode, in other words you can switch it to clear to be able to see clearly. Just like some toilets in Europe and other parts of the world you go in and you can see everyone else and they can see you until you flick the switch and then it goes opaque. I understand that this has confused a number of American tourists when I was working there as we all had a laugh as they didn’t know what to do and could see everyone clearly.

Only yesterday I was thinking about shipping my LC70 to US during my next vacation do a road trip, and call you guys to test it. But it was too expensive for me. 😢
Reading the comments it's quite hilarious how US folks complain about high car prices. Here in Europe we don't even get the vast majority of the SUVs, trucks and crossovers you have, and those few that are available here come with much weaker engines, lower ground clearance and no off-road trims (compared to the versions for the US market) - and, worse still, they all cost almost double the money compared to US prices. You don't even know how fortunate you are. :)
Sure, if it was available in the U.S., Toyota probably sell a couple thousands in the first year to the collectors, then no one would buy it anymore. Let's face it, American car buyers want big and fancy SUVs; they don't want a striped down work truck-wagon as their daily driver. The rest of the world buys the Land Cruiser 70 as equipment for work mostly; however, it is too small of a truck for U.S. buyers as a work truck. The bottom line is Toyota marketing knew what they were doing when they brought the Land Cruiser 60 and 80 to the U.S. market because that is what U.S. buyers wanted.
I love the Century! Rode in 2, once in London another in Munich. As Toyota had imported to both. Idk if they still do, would imagine so. Much like Russia's Aurus Senat, similar in design language too. Both are super unique in a world of bla "luxury" of EVERYONE MUST HAVE ONLY 1 Choice. A dumb SUV. Versus a stately true limousine vehicle! On that note, also love the Lexus Van. I loved my Big cushy ultra lux GMC Vandura conversion vans. Talk about the Perfect road tripper! Minus its horrendous mpg. & as someone who loves 2 drs, love the 2 dr Corrolla hatch! It's way cuter even if cool at the same time! Speaking of 😎, Roman ❤the specs!
we want LC300 , 70serris wagon , trophy , utes , all diesels just give us a basic Utility , off road , affordable 4x4's like the new trail hunters not for close to $70k
Almost the same price now as a new prado, but on the used market they're not even close, they hold their value with an iron fist. Amazing machines but still.
LC250 gas 4c or 3.5 v6 gas would work on the U.S spec 70 series , crash test , people still daily drive 1979 ford pus or 66 mustang s no safety anything
They can’t build and sell a 2025 mustang identical to the 66; old vehicles are grandfathered to not need to meet the same regulations because you can’t just ban half the vehicles in the US due to our dependence on private transportation. However, the fact that our health system and hospitals are overwhelmingly filled with vehicle accident victims in older model cars without the safety standards shows that not only is allowing them killing people, but it is costing all of us who pay for those hospital services when the victims can’t or won’t pay for the expenses they cause. Only way you would get this vehicle in the US is if you pay $100k for it to cover the costs the additional injuries place on our health system. At least with motorcycles, most victims die instantly on scene and therefor do not need additional services to attempt to save them.
The 70 series is a gem. Very s8mple interior with no stupid gizmos and technology. If this came out eh Us I would drive it right off the delivery truck
true we get 7 Lexus LX600/LX700 hybrid models but no LC300's , just give us a basic base utilitarian model LC300 for us true off roaders who don't want or need 3 rows of leather , massive sunroof , 2 nd row entertainment screens , power fold tilt every thing we touch with memory settings
People want the LC70 and Yaris only because they can’t have them. But they wouldn’t sell as well as people think. An LC70 for $30k is too much for something without any amenities, add AC and a radio and it’d probably be $35k. With just 200hp, it would struggle on US roads either.
2.5 turbo gas from the new 4runner or 3.5 V6 from the Lexus GX 550 are smog legal in the U.S. we jut dont know how much the 70 series wts? it has less luxury car bits , no power ,fold ,tilt every single thing we touch with memory settings
@ the price would go up exponentially with the 2.4 turbo or 3.4 turbo engines (not 2.5 or 3.5), probably closer to $40k with either of those engines. Not to mention bringing it up to our crash regulations would increase the cost. Also the lack of automated safety systems would increase insurance rates a lot. I’d love to see the 70 series with a current gas engine in the US, but a basic one at a reasonable price just won’t happen in the US due to our regulations.
a troop carrier van for me ,build a car camper /overland adventure wagon build , remove all the luxury car bits leave the moon roof hole in the roof so one can add a pop up camper top but no this is a crew cab luxury truck with a 5.5' box / 3 row luxury family School bus s.u.v world
Coming from Asia of cause its not surprising I would dream to have a LC70. However I'm not interested in the new 2.8 turbo diesel (1GD-FTV). I would much prefer 4.5 turbo diesel (1VD-FTV) or atleast 4L (1GR-FE). I would really love the troopy with 180L twin tank but with 5 doors (since I have kids). I'm so tired of hearing that arguments/complain of why Toyota doesn't sell the 70 series in the United States..... I live in a country where Toyota sells the 70 series, believe me guys, you wouldn't like to live with a 70 series, even if it was super cheap which it isn't (by any stretch of the imagination) and even so it still wouldn't sell. The only reason you think you like the 70 series is because it represents a cool idea that in practice is really not that cool and the other reason is because it's not available in your country and we tend to like things that we can't get. I know nobody will believe this but Toyota is actually smart, they know very well what they don't sell the 70 series in the United States, I know, hard to believe, but they know what they're doing.
Are you familiar with the Jeep Wrangler and Gladiator? They offer equally crude technology with none of the Toyota quality and sell in very large numbers.
@@rightlanehog3151 basically what I'm reading here is that you have no idea what the 70 series is, literally you like most people have no idea of what a Toyota 70 series really is, that's what I said "you wouldn't like to live with a 70 series". Yes, I'm familiar with both the Wrangler and Gladiator, but they just don't compare, not even close, I know you think they're similar products but they are just not. The Wrangler/Gladiator are decades apart in chassis development, tech, comfort, convenience, ease of use, off road capabilities, aftermarket support, and pretty much every other aspect that you can think of, plus they have true identity and a freaking strong heritage and therefore a super rock solid community of enthusiast, the 70 series simply has none of that., they seem like similar products, but they're just not, they're totally different. The 70 series is really not an off roader like the Wrangler, they're just very simple and though vehicles, more like a tractor than an actual off-roader so you get a better idea. Trails that a Wrangler can pass with relative ease a 70 series just won't, no without series body damage anyway, that's of course assuming that you don't roll it over which is truly not that difficult in a 70 series.
@@rightlanehog3151 dude I thought I replied to your comment but it seems like my reply wasn't saved for some reason. Basically to summarize because I'm too lazy to write all of that again. Trust me, Toyota knows what they don't sell the 70 series in the States.

in middle east we get it with big screens , fridge , air compressor and so many body type options including pickups
The Landcruiser 70 Series is great, we have these here in New Zealand & they're a popular choice with farmers in particular.
I saw Ronny Dahl test the 4 cylinder 70 series vs his V-8 and it did surprisingly well.
5th gen Hilux with a 2.8 cummins without all the emissions crap.... or 70 80 series land cruiser pick up with the 2.8r diesel
I really want this in the US!!!
I still want that lifted 4x4 van from Sema a few years back
I would assume you guys are also there to check out the Tokyo Auto Salon this weekend?
Yep, and in a few remaining markets the 70 series is still available with the V8 diesel and a manual transmission. The chicken tax is exactly what it sounds like - protecting an industry in a country that is too chicken of competition.
Why do we not get that "70 Series"? I like the new LC, but _that_ would be in my driveway.
@@overland_adventure_nz Ahhh, now that makes more sense, I guess. I think I'd prefer the tinted glass which pretty much stops outsiders to see if I have their girlfriend in the car with me, and I can watch them. :)
Thanks.
Tommy loves his Swatches! Blancpain colab.
Wow... that van is off the chain cool...yes please.
Land Cruiser 70 series is only available in countries that the people have personal freedom like us downunder
I would absolutey sell my Wrangler for a 70 series. I would have preferred the V8 version though.

I have LC76 series and Jimny JB74 series! Both of them not allowed in US!
@@ganaarc Hahaha, I had a new JB74 and sold it to upgrade to a new LC78 ❤️
I’m so glad to live in a free country unlike the USA.
The 70 series LC would flatten like a can of tomatoes in an accident. I still want one..
I would love a 70 series Troopy. They would be a decent alternative for the van-life crowd. It’s too bad Toyota doesn’t sell these in the U.S.
I would love that 70 series Land Cruiser.
OMG, it's Larry, are you guys in Japan again? Next time you have to let me know we'll meet up and get some local car culture.
The Century was awesome! It's a shame we don't get those cars in the US. Is there a specific reason why we don't get them?
Watch the Australian, reviews on the Landcruiser 2.8 and Prado. Dangerously slow and even worse towing. Nope, we don't get cheap prices as well. 🤑
Dream, dream and keep dreaming
While I enjoy driving the LC70 and watching the land cruiser, fortuner and hilux around me
Almost the same price now as a new prado, but on the used market they're not even close, they hold their value with an iron fist. Amazing machines but still.
Why not just bring this here? Even if it was the same price as the one we get, I’d rather have this for sure.
USDM Regulations
Tell Toyota 70 series 2 and 4 door with the 4.0 V6. The 2 door and 4 door with the Japanese style mirrors
You forgot about the Umbrilla in LM van
The 70 series is a gem. Very s8mple interior with no stupid gizmos and technology. If this came out eh Us I would drive it right off the delivery truck
SOOO YOU MEAN TO TELL ME TOYOTA CAN MAKE AFFORDABLE VEHICLES FOR OTHER MARKETS!!?? Just not for the US of A?? I mean in South America is available.
true we get 7 Lexus LX600/LX700 hybrid models but no LC300's , just give us a basic base utilitarian model LC300 for us true off roaders who don't want or need 3 rows of leather , massive sunroof , 2 nd row entertainment screens , power fold tilt every thing we touch with memory settings
Up until recently the LC 70 had a 4.5L V8 diesel engine option.
I want to buy the 70 series., please bring it to the Usa..
a troop carrier van for me ,build a car camper /overland adventure wagon build , remove all the luxury car bits leave the moon roof hole in the roof so one can add a pop up camper top but no this is a crew cab luxury truck with a 5.5' box / 3 row luxury family School bus s.u.v world
Coming from Asia of cause its not surprising I would dream to have a LC70. Sure the safety standers would not meet USA, especially the side impact.
And the Century also ruined. I would love the previous 5L V12 engine.
🤣 " operating in the most hospitable climates imaginable". We're talk'n Greece, Portugal, Spain, Costa Rica, Italy, South Africa, and coastal regions of Mexico. I mean, it's rough out there 😆
I would so buy this Land Cruiser
You could probably get that 70 series here via Mexico. Just gotta own/know someone that owns property there so you have it registered. Vacation condo?
I would buy the 70 series tomorrow if they brought them to the states. I would probably buy two lol
if you try this for off-road, you Will feel the fj and g class fell like a crossover
No Hilux?
Wait till Tommy finds out the body from the firewall back is from the 1980s and simply hasn't changed because it works.
I love to have one of these at this price point
Land cruiser of course
This is the car. We are so lazy can't even roll our car windows.
90s century's with the xurtains and blue cloth seats > that monstrosity
Basic Math… 70-Series ($32k) + Cost of USA Regulation Equip = 250-Series ($55-75k)
Ditto on a 70 series. in my clouded view, and in some other vids ive seen, its the tougher, less stylized 4Runner...almost, sort of, maybe, i wish...
if the 4Runner had an older brother who didnt get the benefit of private school and better manors...the 70 series would be it.
It’s not even close to a 4Runner. Two complete different vehicles
Ppl just don't know what Toyota has coming in the future....truly amazing.😮
I would love a 2dr 70 Series
You think they are similar products, they are not, they are very different. The Wrangler/Gladiator are true off roaders, the 70 series is more like a tractor.
Trust me, Toyota knows what they don't sell the 70 series in the States.
@@modelerrrrr Tractor status would be an upgrade for the Wrangler.
than give us a utilitarian LC300 than not a 3 row luxury family School bus like the LX600 is
So 25 years from now I know what to buy.
Lol same clock on the dash as my 88 Toyota truck.
Nice 😀
That Toyota Landcruiser is way too basic for the US except for the LED headlamps.
Not sure why Toyota doesn’t sell the 70 series in the US
Thank the auto workers unions for why we can't get these.
that Lexus van is not CHEAP!!!!!!
Thank politicians for Americans not being able to purchase these
I'd take that Crown
We need simple cars like that land cruiser, simple functional, and all the new tech and and too much plastic parts on new vehicles are more a death trap!
I'd buy a 70 series tomorrow if my (canadian) dealership could get them. 2:51 i think you mean inhospitable

The Landcrusier 70 series is banned in U.S because Ford, GMC
The V8 is still in production
Only for one more year in the cab & chassis models.
I wish that the Lexus bring the luxury van to the US but they don't!
You guys are completely to blame for my recent obsession with Land Rovers and Land Cruisers.
So sorry!

70 Series diesel pickup, please take my money.
